Congolese group for study of Juche philosophical idea formed
Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- A Congolese group for the study of the Juche philosophical idea was formed with due ceremony in Brazzaville on July 3.
Marcel Malaba, professor of history of Marien Ngouabi University of Congo, was elected chairman of the group and its statute was adopted at the ceremony.
Kim Yong Nam concludes Vietnam visit
Hanoi, July 14 (KCNA correspondent) -- Kim Yong Nam, President of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, left Hanoi by a special plane on July 14 after wrapping up his 4-day official goodwill visit to Vietnam.
He was farewelled by Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong at the presidency that day.
They expressed belief that Kim's Vietnam visit would mark an important occasion in further strengthening and developing the friendly and cooperative relations between the DPRK and Vietnam.
While staying in Vietnam Kim Yong Nam visited various places of Hanoi and Haiphong.
On leaving Vietnam, he sent a message of thanks to president Tran Duc Luong.
Chinese residents help builders
Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- Chinese residing in Manpho city, Jagang Province, recently gave a sincere helping hand to those engaged in the work to spruce up revolutionary sites and battle sites in order to glorify forever the immortal revolutionary exploits of the three generals of Mt. Paektu.
They donated necessary equipment, materials, fixtures and furniture to them.
They are also helping those working to carry out the Kaechon-lake Thaesong waterway project and spruce up Manpho.
KCTU starts solidarity action
Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- The Taegu regional headquarters of the South Korean Confederation of Trade Unions launched a solidarity action on July 12 to support those workers in strike including those of the Daewoo Motor Company and the workers of those enterprises struggling against restructuring, according to Yonhap News from Seoul.
The organization fixed July 12 as a "day of solidarity with workers in Taegu out to win final victory in the 2001 struggle for higher wage and collective contract and condemn capitalists of worst type." Then they staged a solidarity action in front of the main building of an enterprise in Talsong industrial zone with more than 500 unionists of the company attending.
At least 100 unionists affiliated to the Daewoo Motor Company will reportedly join the unionists of the federation of metallurgical industrial trade unions who came from all parts of South Korea to Inchon to hold a meeting of metallurgical workers to have job security guaranteed.
The "confederation of national consultative councils of civil servants workshops" (Jongongryon) entered into a sit-in strike in Myongdong cathedral on July 11.
That day, the Jongongryon called a press conference at which it denounced the prosecution's issue of warrant for arrest of its four leading members on charges of spearheading a meeting of civil servants as an "anachronistic suppression of workers which could be seen only under a military regime."
Kim Yong Nam calls on Vietnamese party leader
Hanoi, July 14 (KCNA correspondent) -- Kim Yong Nam, President of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, today paid a courtesy call on Nong Duc Manh, General Secretary of the C.C., the Communist Party of Vietnam, at the building of the party central committee.
On the occasion Nong Duc Manh said that the friendly relations between Vietnam and Korea, provided by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kim Il Sung, have a long tradition.
We express heartfelt thanks to the Korean party, government and people for having rendered valuable assistance to the Vietnamese party, government and people in the efforts for national reunification and socialist construction, he said.
Kim Yong Nam's current visit will be greatly conducive to the development of the bilateral ties of friendship, Nong said, stressing: the Vietnamese Communist Party, government and people will do their best to further consolidate and develop the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between the two parties, countries and peoples.
Highly estimating the signal achievements made by the Korean people in the building of the party, the state and the economy under the army-first revolutionary leadership of Kim Jong Il, the General Secretary expressed the belief that they would achieve a greater victory in the sacred cause of building a powerful and prosperous nation and reunifying the country independently and peacefully in the spirit of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.
He stressed the need to strengthen mutual solidarity in the interests of the two peoples and for regional and global peace and security.
Kim Yong Nam arrives in Vientiane
Vientiane, July 14 (KCNA correspondent) -- Kim Yong Nam, President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, on July 14 arrived in Vientiane by a special plane to pay an official goodwill visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic at the invitation of Lao President Khamtay Siphandone.
A welcome ceremony was held at the presidency of Laos.
Present there were President Khamtay Siphandone, deputy prime minister and foreign minister Somsavath Lengsavath and other officials concerned.
Kim Yong Nam in company with Khamtay Siphandone reviewed a guard of honour of the Lao People's Army.
Japan's wrong decision on history textbooks accused
Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- The Japanese authorities on July 9 adopted a decision turning down the strong demand of peoples at home and abroad for rewriting the junior middle school history textbooks, which distort Japan's history of aggression.
They claim that the decision was made in "deep consideration" of Japan's stance toward the revision of the controversial textbooks.
Commenting on it, Rodong Sinmun today says:
The Japanese government approved the controversial history textbooks at its examination, and has refused to meet the strong demand from people at home and abroad for their revision. This is intended to cover up Japan's past crimes and evade the apology and compensation for them and, furthermore, infuse the idea of aggression into the younger Japanese for overseas aggression and thus attain its wild design for "Greater East Asia Coprosperity Sphere" at any cost it failed to do in the past.
After all, the "decision adopted in deep consideration" means that the Japanese authorities have taken everything into serious consideration to achieve their ambition for overseas aggression.
The Japanese authorities should lend an ear to the voices of the Asian people who suffered immeasurable damage due to the Japanese imperialists in the past, and drop their shameless position not to redress and apologize for the past crimes while distorting them.
Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's work marked
Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- Today marks the 15th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's famous work "On Some Problems of Education in the Juche Idea."
It was published on July 15, Juche 75 (1986).
Clarified in the work are principled matters arising in preparing the party members and other working people under socialism to be revolutionaries of Juche-type such as conducting all forms of ideological education in combination with the education in the basic principles of the Juche idea, letting the party members and other working people have a correct understanding of the driving force of revolution and firmly establishing a revolutionary view on the leader and giving full play to the essential advantages of the socialist system.
Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article says that the work is an immortal militant banner which should be held aloft in firmly consolidating the ideological position of socialism as an impregnable fortress and an important work which would serve as a guideline in conducting ideological education to meet the requirements of the army-first era.
Ideological work should be improved to meet the requirements of the era of attaching great importance to the military affairs in order to accelerate the revolutionary advance in the new century despite all sorts of challenges of imperialists, the article says, and continues:
It is the call of the Workers' Party of Korea today to concentrate ideological education on equipping the party members and other working people with the WPK's idea of attaching importance to arms and giving priority to the army and make a radical improvement in the content and method of the ideological education helpful to the WPK's army-first leadership and politics.
The work clarifies principled matters in effecting a new turn in ideological education to meet the requirements of revolutionary practices.
It serves as a guideline in steadily enriching all the contents of the ideological education to suit the developing reality.
It is thanks to Kim Jong Il's idea and theory that the Korean people have advanced along the road of socialism without any slightest hesitation and vacillation in the past.
The vitality of the work is clearly evidenced by the fact that the Korean people have cherished the unshakable faith that socialism is their life and soul in such grave situation where socialism collapsed in several countries and despite the imperialists' continued vicious ideological and cultural poisoning.
