KCNA on U.S. arms buildup
Pyongyang, September 8 (KCNA) -- The Bush administration reportedly decided to transfer some hardware and technical equipment of the U.S. forces to Asia from Europe.
The projected transfer of the U.S. forces deployed in Europe for a large-scale war proves that the bush administration's world strategy aimed to bring under its control the Asia-Pacific region and exercise supremacy over it has already entered the phase of its implementation.
It is as clear as noonday that the transfer of military hardware to be followed by the redeployment of military forces would upset strategic stability in the Asia-Pacific region and, first of all, adversely affect the peace process on the Korean peninsula.
As already known, an atmosphere of national reconciliation and reunification has prevailed in the peninsula since the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration last year.
While pretending to recognize the positive change in the situation of the peninsula and hope for its improvement, the U.S. is, in fact, aggravating the regional situation.
This fully betrays the criminal attempts of the U.S. to perpetuate its military presence in South Korea at any cost and realize its strategy for world domination with it as a foothold.
This is evidenced by the fact that as regards the transfer of the U.S. forces the secretary of the U.S. army said that the bush administration, unlike the Clinton administration, is directing its efforts to readjusting its military forces for quick reaction with main emphasis put on asian security including disputes between china and Taiwan and between the north and south of Korea.
The Korean peninsula has become the primary target of the U.S. forces present in Asia including South Korea and Japan and most of the Afore-said military hardware would be transferred to the U.S. military bases in Asia including South Korea. This is an outright challenge to the whole Korean nation who wants the independent and peaceful reunification of the country and the peace-loving people in Asia and the rest of the world.
The United States will surely have to pay dearly for such military challenge as seriously straining the overall situation in the Asia-pacific region, to say nothing of the Korean peninsula, and harassing peace and stability.
Title of Labor Heroine awarded to Kye Sun Hui
Pyongyang, September 8 (KCNA) -- The Title of Labor Heroine of the DPRK was awarded to Kye Sun Hui, Judoist of the Moranbong District Sports Group in Pyongyang.
According to the September 6 decree of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, she has steadily adapted herself to the Juche-based judo tactics to prove successful in international games. And she defeated all her opponents with her strong will-power at the 2001 world judo championships to carry off a gold medal and demonstrate the dignity and honor of Juche Korea.
Japan urged to redeem its past
Pyongyang, September 8 (KCNA) -- The DPRK urges the Japanese authorities to redeem at an early date its history of racism and aggression and remove the root cause of regional instability, said the head of the DPRK delegation to the world conference against racism in Durban of South Africa.
Noting that the master key to removing the root cause of racism is to properly settle the history of racism and racial discrimination, he urged those countries which have systematically pursued racism and racial discrimination to admit their responsibilities and commit themselves to make compensation and reparations to those countries, communities and individuals which fell victim to them.
Japan has not yet redeemed its past crimes and this arouses apprehension as to Japan's possible repetition of its past, he said, adding:
Violence is committed against Korean school girls in Japan in broad daylight at the tacit connivance of the authorities and police for the mere reason that they are in Korean jackets and long skirts and the policy of discrimination is pursued against the Koreans in Japan.
Saying that it is important to practically ensure equality among all the races, nations and tribes as well as to redeem the history of racism, he said that the DPRK government will as ever join the international community in its efforts to abolish all forms of racism on earth.
Jiang Zemin's DPRK visit hailed
Pyongyang, September 8 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today editorially hails the recent official goodwill visit to the DPRK by Jiang Zemin, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China, at the invitation of Kim Jong Il, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK.
His visit marked a historic event in further deepening the relations of friendship between the leaders of the two countries and steadily consolidating and developing the DPRK-china friendship in the 21st century, it says.
Noting that the Chinese people are waging a drive to build modern and highly civilized new China under the leadership of the CPC headed by Jiang Zemin and the appearance of china is changing as the days go by, the editorial continues:
The party and government of china, considering it as a key link of the socialist modernization drive with Chinese characteristics to meet the requirements of the "three represents" set forth by Jiang Zemin, are arousing all the people to the struggle for its implementation.
They are making efforts to defend peace and stability and promote the progress of countries and nations in a peaceful atmosphere, opposed to the pursuance of upperhand in strength and hegemonism in the international arena.
The Korean people are sincerely rejoiced over the successes made by the Chinese people in their efforts to build modern socialist china and wish them greater achievements in the future.
Independence is the main trend of the present times in the 21st century and nobody can bar the people from advancing under the uplifted banner of independence and they are sure to win.
It is in full accord with the desire, wish and fundamental interests of the two peoples to continue to vigorously develop the bilateral relations of friendship in the new century, too, and this will be a positive contribution to peace, stability and progress in Asia and the rest of the world.
Jiang Zemin's recent visit brought joy to the two peoples aspiring after stronger bilateral relations of friendship in the new century.
The Korean people are convinced that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries will grow stronger in different fields in the spirit agreed upon between the two leaders at several meetings and talks.
It is the consistent stand of the WPK and the DPRK government and the common desire and wish of the two peoples to set store by and boost the DPRK-China friendship based on the close relationship between the two leaders.
The DPRK-China friendship which has been developed generation after generation and century after century, will grow stronger and develop to meet the requirements of the new century thanks to the concerted efforts of the two peoples and it will contribute to global independence and peace.
Withdrawal of U.S. troops from S. Korea demanded
Pyongyang, September 8 (KCNA) -- Papers here today carry articles 56 years since the U.S. military occupation of South Korea.
The papers say that history of the U.S. imperialists' occupation of South Korea is a crime-woven history in which they divided Korea into two parts and inflicted the scourge of the 3-year war upon the Korean nation and a history of aggression and interference in which the U.S. has persisted in blocking the peaceful settlement of the Korean issue, engrossed in armed provocations intended to dominate the whole of Korea.
Their presence in South Korea poses a serious threat to peace and security not only in the Korean peninsula but in northeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region, they note.
Rodong Sinmun says:
The U.S. forces stationed in South Korea serve as front-line forces that militarily back the U.S. policy of aggression on the DPRK and carry out its scenario for the second Korean war.
Nobody can predict when a war will be started by the U.S. imperialist forces of aggression on the Korean peninsula as the DPRK and the United States are still technically at war.
The withdrawal of the U.S. troops from South Korea is a fundamental guarantee for preventing another war and ensuring peace and security on the Korean peninsula. It is the most urgent issue in realizing reconciliation and cooperation and ensuring peace and security on the peninsula.
There is neither ground nor pretext for the U.S. forces to stay in South Korea as the agreement on non-aggression was adopted and took effect between the north and the south of Korea, the agreed framework calling for joint efforts for peace and security was adopted between the DPRK and the United States and the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration was published to independently solve the issue of reunification by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation.
An article of Minju Joson urges the united states to give up its tough hostile policy towards the DPRK and take the earliest possible step for the withdrawal of its troops from South Korea if it truly wants the peaceful solution to the Korean problem and peace and security in Northeast Asia.

National meeting marks DPRK birthday
Pyongyang, September 8 (KCNA) -- A national meeting was held at the 6,000-seat theatre of the April 25 house of culture today to celebrate the 53rd anniversary of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Kim Yong Nam, President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, delivered a report titled "Our republic led by the great party is invincible."
He said:
The foundation of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea by President Kim Il Sung on September 9, Juche 37 (1948) was a historic event in which the Korean people's cherished desire to have a genuine sovereign state of workers and peasants came true and signified the birth of Juche Korea which proudly declared the independence and sovereignty of the Korean nation.
It is an immortal historic exploit performed by Kim Il Sung on behalf of the homeland and people, the times and the revolution that he led the DPRK to build man-centred Korean-style socialism on this land and set a genuine example of socialist nation-building.
His Juche-oriented cause of socialist nation-building is being successfully carried forward and steadily developed in depth by leader Kim Jong Il.
Recalling that the new U.S. administration is still clinging to the policy to isolate and stifle the DPRK, the policy which proved bankrupt in the 20th century, and deliberately deteriorating the situation on the Korean peninsula, he continued:
It is the invariable stand of the Korean party and people to approach good faith with good faith and react to a hard line with toughest stand.
The U.S. should immediately drop its criminal hostile policy toward the DPRK, honestly implement the DPRK-U.S. agreed framework and put the earliest possible end to its troops' presence in South Korea, a constant threat to the peace and security on the Korean peninsula and a stumbling block lying in the way of national reunification.
The Japanese reactionary ruling quarters should face up to the trend of the times, drop their hostile policy toward the DPRK and stop hampering Korea's reunification and renounce at once the foolish and dangerous moves to justify Japan's history of aggression and revive militarism.
Referring to the foreign policy of the DPRK, the reporter noted:
The DPRK government's independent politics, independent foreign policy is consistent and unchangeable.
The DPRK will make efforts to develop good-neighbourly and friendly relations with all countries the world over on the basis of mutual respect for independence and improve relations with even those countries which once were hostile to the DPRK if they respect its sovereignty and drops hostile policy toward it.
Present at the meeting were senior party and state officials, officers and men of the Korean People's Army and working people in the city. Diplomatic envoys of different countries here and foreign guests were present there on invitation.
