Kim Jong Il inspects KPA units

    Pyongyang, September 19 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, Chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, yesterday inspected a sub-unit of KPA unit no.535 and unit no.211 honored with the title of "O Jung Hup's Seventh Regiment". The first leg of his inspection was a sub-unit of KPA unit no.535.
    Accompanying him were KPA generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong, secretary of the WPK Central Committee Kim Kuk Thae and others.
    Kim Jong Il learned about the performance of the unit's duties before observing a technological lesson of servicemen. and he advanced highly important tasks that would serve as a guideline in further strengthening the heroic KPA into invincible revolutionary armed forces.
    Then he went round cultural and logistic facilities of the sub-unit to take warm care of servicemen's living with paternal love.
    He gave the servicemen of the sub-unit an automatic rifle as a gift and posed for a picture with them.
    The next leg of his inspection was KPA unit no.211 honored with the title of "O Jung Hup's Seventh Regiment".
    He went to the servicemen's hall to learn about their entertainment and see the records of the unit's history full of victory and glory.
    Then he went round logistic facilities splendidly built in the unit.
    Greatly satisfied to note that the unit has provided a rich diet to soldiers, he highly praised the feats of its officers and men.
    The whole army and society should actively learn from the fighting spirit and traits and way of life created by the officers of this unit, he urged, saying: it is possible to provide soldiers with better living conditions when everyone works hard by always using his brains and displaying creative initiative as they did.
    He also inspected a company under the unit.
    Looking round entertainment and logistic facilities, he showed deep care for servicemen's living.
    He appreciated an art performance given by soldiers of the company.
    He gave the unit an automatic rifle as a gift and had a picture taken with servicemen.


Friendly meeting with foreigners

    Pyongyang, September 19 (KCNA) -- A friendly meeting with members of the delegation of the Denmark-DPRK Friendship Association took place at the Moranbong Senior Middle School no. 1 yesterday. Invited there were the members of the delegation headed by Anderusu Krisutensen, chairman of the association.
    Members of the Korea-Denmark Friendship Association and teachers and students of the school were present.
    After looking round several experimental and training rooms of the school, the guests enjoyed an art performance given by students.
    Then the participants talked to each other about further developing the friendly and cooperative ties between the two peoples, deepening the friendly feelings.


Anniversary of DPRK celebrated abroad

    Pyongyang, September 19 (KCNA) -- Over 110 political parties in 50 odd countries warmly congratulated and significantly celebrated the 53rd birthday of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Congratulatory messages came to leader Kim Jong Il before and after September 9, the birthday of the DPRK, from more than 100 leaders and leadership members of foreign political parties. Among them were Chinese, Cuban and Lao party leaders and the general secretary of the Communist Party of India.
    Leaders of 20 odd parties, including the Syrian Arab Socialist Baath Party, the People's Party of Cambodia, the Communist Party of Germany and the Mexican Workers' Party, paid congratulatory visits to DPRK embassies. They laid baskets and bunches of flowers before portraits of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il and paid respects to them.
    Celebration meetings were held by 20 odd parties of Russia, Laos, Italy and other countries and lecture meetings by many parties.
    Korean films were screened on 40 odd occasions by more than 30 political parties including the socialist workers' party of the united states.
    Meanwhile, organs of various parties including Chalpal, the organ of the c.c., the Nepal Communist Party (UML), carried special writeups and articles with portraits of Kim Jong Il under such titles as "Korea guided by the great leader shines" and "army-first politics of Korea".


DPRK top-notch girl boxers

    Pyongyang, September 19 (KCNA) -- DPRK girls bagged 5 gold medals at the first Asian Women's Boxing Championships held in Thailand shortly ago. Ha Son Bi knocked out Chinese and Thai rivals in semi-finals and finals to come first in the 54kg category. The Asian Boxing Council awarded the "cup for the best player" to her in recognition of her strong persevering spirit, fortitude and initiative in matches.
    The 24-year-old girl was born in an ordinary worker's family. Taekwon-do was her hobby in her childhood and she began boxing at the age of 19.
    She made her debut at the above-said championships, but distinguished herself in the matches.
    According to her coach Mun Myong Nam, ha, strong in punches and agile in judgement, has a good command of unique skill of outmanoeuvring her rivals through uninterrupted attacks.
    She is now under intensive training to participate in the first world women's boxing championships slated to be held in the U.S. in November.
    There is increasing expectation for her who has appeared as a boxing star.


National exhibition of educational computer programs held

    Pyongyang, September 19 (KCNA) -- The second national exhibition of educational computer programs was held here between Sept. 12 and 16. Over 250 programs were contributed to the exhibition by teachers, researchers and students from across the country.
    Its participants made valuable programs in the course of widely introducing computers into educational work and scientific research, developing the nation's program technology and preparing themselves to be reserves of competent scientists and technicians.
    Prizes were awarded to successful programs at its closing ceremony held at the three-revolution exhibition.


Cause of Korean people supported

    Pyongyang, September 19 (KCNA) -- The Communist Party of Chile (CPC) will as ever further develop the friendly and cooperative ties with the Workers' Party of Korea and extend full support and solidarity to the just cause of the Korean people, said general secretary of the CPC Central Committee Gladys Marin Milie on Sept. 9 when he met DPRK ambassador to Chile Yu Chang Un who paid a courtesy call on him. The general secretary said he was sincerely rejoiced over the achievements the Korean people have made in the building of a prosperous and powerful socialist nation under the wise army-first leadership of Kim Jong Il despite all sorts of economic difficulties.
    He hoped that Korea would be reunified independently and peacefully in accordance with the line of national independence advanced by Kim Jong Il.


Mongolian ambassador presents credentials to Kim Yong Nam

    Pyongyang, September 19 (KCNA) -- Newly-appointed Mongolian ambassador e.p. to the DPRK Janchivdorjyn Lombo presented his credentials to Kim Yong Nam, President of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall today. Present there was vice-minister of foreign affairs Kim Yong Il.
    After receiving the credentials, the president talked with the ambassador.


Delegation of Chilean Senate here

    Pyongyang, September 19 (KCNA) -- A delegation of the Chilean Senate headed by its vice-president Mario Rios Santander arrived here today. It was greeted at the airport by Jang Chol, vice-chairman of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly.
    The DSPAhosted a reception for the delegation this evening.
