Struggle for independence called for

Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- The strength of the independent popular masses standing for justice is inexhaustible and no force can defeat them, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. It goes on:
The trend of the situation in the new century calls on the progressives to vigorously struggle for peace, stability, prosperity and progress under the banner of the anti-imperialist struggle.
Inexhaustible are the spiritual power and fighting spirit of the people, the driving force of the world.
The source of strength of justice lies in the unity among people and the unity serves as a fundamental guarantee for achieving the popular masses' cause of independence.
If broad segments of people around the world struggle in firm unity under the banner of independence, the banner of defending justice, they can foil any moves for aggression and strategy of strength of the imperialists, safeguard world peace and security and promote the global independence.
It is an issue of special importance to increase national defense capability in building up the strength of the popular masses standing for justice. One should not be afraid of imperialist aggressors but maintain the principle of national independence and not allow any slightest concession to them and retreat.
The hard line of the imperialists should be countered with a super hard line. This is a legitimate right of a country and nation advocating independence and a mode of independent counter-action to emerge victorious in the confrontation with imperialism.
The world progressives will strengthen the force of justice and wage a strenuous anti-imperialist struggle under the banner of independence to powerfully advance the human cause of independence, the cause of peace, and build a new, free and peaceful world without fail.

IAEA's double standards rejected

Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- The United States openly conducted another sub-critical nuclear test in an underground nuclear test site in Nevada state recently in utter disregard of the "comprehensive nuclear test ban treaty". In this regard Minju Joson today says in a signed commentary:
What should not be overlooked is the international atomic energy agency's double standards in dealing with the nuclear issue.
It is beyond doubt that the IAEA is applying double standards in handling this issue. it persistently urges the country which is not to blame for any nuclear issue to accept verification and inspection, while keeping mum about the country which unceasingly conducts nuclear tests.
This is evidenced by the fact that the IAEA once again urged the DPRK to accept verification and inspection of its past nuclear activities under the pretext of coping with attacks on the united states.
It is not the DPRK but the U.S. that should accept the IAEA's verification and inspection. This is the unanimous and unbiased comment of the world public.
Nevertheless, the IAEA decided to verify and inspects the nuclear facilities of the DPRK, not the U.S. This eloquently proves that the IAEA is applying double standards, dancing to the tune of others after departing from the principle of justice and impartiality in its activities.
As a matter of fact, some dishonest elements of the IAEA are acting upon the script written by the united states, pursuant to its policy, in a bid to make "nuclear threat" from the DPRK an established fact.
It is needless to say that this unjust stand will only result in crippling the international community's confidence in the IAEA and inviting strong worldwide protest and denunciation.
The DPRK will certainly make the IAEA pay a high price for persistently urging the DPRK to accept verification and inspection while uttering not a word about the U.S. which continues conducting nuclear tests in wanton violation of international conventions.

KCNA on Tokyo metropolitan governor's anti-DPRK remarks

Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- Tokyo metropolitan governor Ishihara in a recent television appearance let loose outbursts malignantly slandering the DPRK. Referring to Japan's assistance to the U.S. forces in its retaliation against attacks on the U.S. and the like, Ishihara argued that nothing has been done by Japan to combat terrorism. He asserted that "150 Japanese were kidnapped by North Korea and this is a fact known to the Japanese police." While telling this whopping lie, he again insisted that the DPRK's launch of a satellite was a "missile launch" in a desperate bid to float the fiction of "threat from North Korea."
His reckless remarks betray his bitter enmity towards the DPRK. These are absolutely intolerable as they represent the criminal intention of the Japanese reactionaries to stir up militarist and ultranationalist tendency in the Japanese society and escalate their moves against the DPRK, taking advantage of tragic attacks on the U.S.
It is a height of folly and a mockery of history and the reality for such ultra-rightists of Japan as Ishihara to dare accuse someone of "outright terrorism" and paint themselves as "patriots" most deeply concerned about the safety of Japanese.
If the issue of terrorism is to be handled from a principled stand, it is necessary to call into question Japan, first of all, which has not yet repented of its monstrous crimes and state-sponsored terrorism in the past.
Assaults on Koreans in Japan are frequently reported there still today. This should not be overlooked. It is Japan where Korean children are subjected to brutal violence in broad daylight for the mere reason that they are going in their national dresses.
The Japanese reactionaries are inciting extreme hostile idea and sentiment towards other nations. Their ultra-nationalism is chiefly responsible for most undisguised terrorism and typical of most despicable terrorism.
Through his brigandish outcries Ishihara tried hard to falsify the truth under the pretext of "fighting terrorism" just as he did in the past.
But the international community opposed to all forms of terrorism and the progressive public opinion will never tolerate the brazen-faced moves of the Japanese reactionaries.
The Japanese side will be entirely responsible for all the consequences to be entailed by the reckless remarks made by such ultranationalists as Ishihara.
