U.S. policy of aggression toward DPRK slammed
Pyongyang, December 31 (KCNA) -- It is entirely attributable to the U.S. policy of aggression toward the DPRK that the Korean peninsula has become the most dangerous hotbed in the world, says Rodong Sinmun today in a commentary.
The U.S. is persistently pursuing the policy to stifle the DPRK in a strategic intention to put the whole of Korea under its military control and use this area as a military springboard for the realization of its strategy to dominate Asia and Pacific, the commentary notes, and goes on:
The U.S. bellicose forces are peddling a logic that an "edge" of areas surrounding Asia should be seized to control this area in an effective way. By this logic they mean that the Korean peninsula as well as Afghanistan and the middle east should be put under their control so as to hold the Asian continent. So, the U.S. seeks to launch an aggression against the DPRK with South Korea as its military stronghold in a bid to swallow up the whole of Korea and, furthermore, dominate other Asian countries.
Once a war breaks out it will spill over into many countries of Asia and the rest of the world and humankind will suffer untold disasters.
The U.S., buoyed up by its self-claimed "victories" in a series of wars in recent years, are running amuck to ignite a new war in Korea.
If the U.S. unleashes such a war of aggression in Korea, it will meet nothing but a bitter defeat and death. A war will bring nothing good to anyone. The U.S. must clearly know who is its opponent, renounce its policy to stifle the DPRK and opt for peace.

Over 160 cases of aerial espionage committed
Pyongyang, December 31 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialist warhawks maniacs committed over 160 cases of aerial espionage against the DPRK in December with the mobilization of strategic and tactical reconnaissance planes on different missions, according to military sources. The number of aerial espionage cases by U-2 high-altitude strategic reconnaissance plane, EP-3 special operational plane and E-3 command plane totaled more than 30.
Meanwhile, they conducted aerial warfare drills in South Korea for a surprise attack on the north.
On Dec. 26 alone, they had drills of air battle, ground attack, air transport and long-distance navigation flight in the skies above Wonju, Phyongchang, Taegu and other areas with over 120 fighter-bombers, assault planes, reconnaissance planes and transport planes involved.
All those facts clearly betray their intention to make the DPRK the second Afghanistan.

This year described as year marked with highest national pride
Pyongyang, December 31 (KCNA) -- This year was a year marked with the highest national pride and self-respect of the Korean people under the great leadership of Kim Jong Il,says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article.
This year Kim Jong Il has conducted energetic diplomatic activities, performing great exploits for the Korean revolution and the cause of global independence, the article says, and goes on:
A particular mention should be made of the fact that his 20 odd-day long Russia visit this year marked a world startling historic event.
Thanks to his high international prestige, the DPRK could fully demonstrate its dignity and honor and the Korean people could vigorously hasten their march in the new century full of great national pride of having the outstanding leader admired by the world.
He made endless trips on field guidance to meet with soldiers of the people's army and people, and their ardent longing and reverence for their leader prevailed all over the country.
