KCNA on CIA chief's remarks

Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) director Tenet reportedly told the senate intelligence committee on Feb. 6 that the DPRK continues to develop weapons of mass destruction including ballistic missiles fitted with nuclear warheads, adding that the worldwide proliferation of weapons of mass destruction has definitely reached a dangerous level. This is a clear indication that a string of unprecedented war outcries heard from U.S. political circles and military are a direct product of the U.S. foreign policy and the CIA is directly involved in this fuss.
The so-called "concrete testimony" made by the CIA chief at the committee to the DPRK's non-existent development and "threat" of nukes and weapons of mass destruction proves that moves for a war against the DPRK as evidenced by harsh remarks calling for an "preemptive attack" are being put into practice in real earnest.
Tenet's testimony clearly indicates that information and analysed materials provided by the CIA, the center for subversive activities and sabotage, plot-breeding and the fabrication of lies, have always been nothing but sophism designed to slander and do harm to other countries.
The U.S. is the world's biggest possessor of nukes and weapons of mass destruction. Yet, it shaped a war budget of astronomical figures taking the world by surprise.
Such being a hard reality the U.S. is vociferating about "threat" to it, insisting that a small country's conventional weapons for self-defence are the "weapons of mass destruction." This is challenge to the independent right of the sovereign states and a mockery of the international community.
The U.S. should drop its day-dream to stifle the DPRK with a strong-arm policy, stooping to any infamy.
It should stop running amuck, clearly understanding the faith of the people and army of the DPRK that the world can not exist without Korea.

Attempt to cover up GIs' crimes disclosed

Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- It has been disclosed that the South Korean Defence Ministry took such a very passive attitude toward probing the truth about mass killings committed by GIs during the Korean War as suspending field investigation in many areas, according to Seoul-based Yonhap News. On Feb. 6 a "national assemblyman" made public a "report on the results of investigation into military wrongs alone to civilians" obtained from the present military compilation institute. According to it, 40 cases of GIs' mass killings were reported to the Defence Ministry from October 1999 to January 2000.
GIs' mass killings were reported from the then Yongchun-myon, Tanyang county, North Chungchong Province, Konmyong-myon, Sachon city, South Kyongsang Province, Nam-myon, Ryosu city, South Jolla Province, and Songol, Phohang city, North Kyongsang Province.
Nevertheless, the ministry authorities ordered to conduct only in a form of papers the investigation into almost all areas under the pretext that this may be another dispute, the news report said.

Projects will be carried out to improve large rivers and streams extending more than 200 km and minor rivers and streams extending at least 2,300 km. and major urban areas will be garbed in green.
Land management is conducted in the DPRK as a mass movement.
Last year alone at least 73,600 hectares of patches of paddy and non-paddy fields in South Hwanghae Province and other areas were realigned into fields of standardized shapes, roads extending 1,100 km were constructed and roads extending 5,200 km underwent technical improvement.

The album has been edited in two parts, propagation and post-propagation activity of them with 70 color pictures.
The album has a preface and explanatory notes.
The explanatory notes (three chapters) help understand their features, distribution, number and ecology.

U.S. pressure upon DPRK under fire

Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary denounces senior officials of the U.S. administration and brasshats for making diatribes intended to escalate the onslaught to isolate the DPRK in the wake of vituperation let loose by U.S. President Bush in his "state of the union address." It goes on:
The U.S. design to step up this policy, groundlessly listing the DPRK as a "dangerous element" and a member of the "axis of evil", is intended to completely eradicate socialism from the face of the earth and build a "unipolar world" under its control.
Bush's talk about the "axis of evil" precisely means the Korean war scenario.
Bush's plan to visit South Korea this month after letting loose such belligerent remarks against the DPRK is chiefly aimed to examine preparations for a Korean War.
The U.S. imperialists intend to mobilize even the "international alliance against terrorism" for the war. This clearly explains that the core of the U.S. policy to isolate and stifle the DPRK and its strategy for world domination are to mobilize even multi-national forces for the war.
But, the U.S. pressure can never work on the DPRK.
If the U.S. imperialists unleash the second Korean war, the army and people of the DPRK will mete out deadly blows to the aggressors.
There is also an option for the DPRK.

Bush's remarks condemned in Russia

Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- Zhirinovski, deputy speaker of the State Duma of Russia who is chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, when meeting the DPRK ambassador to Russia on Feb. 6, said that his party and the Russian people were infuriated by Bush's vituperation describing the DPRK, Iran and Iraq as members of the "axis of evil". The United States recently increased military spendings 48 billion dollars in the budget for this year under the pretext of "military threat" and "terrorist threat," he said, and went, on:
We will not allow Bush's hostile policy towards the DPRK.
It is because I am highly respecting Kim Jong Il, leader of Korea, and always have good feelings about Korea.
My visit to Korea impressed me deeply.
I will in the future, too, fully support the just cause of the Korean people who are under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.
We will take every possible step for supporting the statement issued by a spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry and protesting Bush's reckless remarks.

Reception in honour of Russian President's representative

Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- The DPRK government gave a reception at the Mansudae Assembly Hall yesterday in honour of Konstantin Borisovich Pulikovski, plenipotentiary representative of the president of the Russian Federation to the Far East Federal District, on a visit to the DPRK. Present on invitation together with him were victor Andreyevich Tregubov, first deputy plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation, and other suite members and Andrei Gennadievich Karlov, Russian ambassador to the DPRK.
Premier Hong Song Nam of the DPRK cabinet and other officials were present.
Jo Chang Dok, vice-premier of the cabinet, made a speech at the reception:
The Korean people always remember all sincere care and cordial hospitality accorded to leader Kim Jong Il by Pulikovski during the former's historic Russia visit in august last year.
Noting that the Korean people sincerely hope that everything will continue to go on well in Russia, he expressed belief that the plenipotentiary representative's visit to the DPRK would doubtlessly make an important contribution to adding fresh dimension and content to the DPRK-Russia friendly and cooperative relations based on the close relationship and ties based on common strategic interests between the two top leaders.
Pulikovski in his reply referred to the long-standing tradition of friendly relations between Russia and the DPRK.
The agreements made during Kim Jong Il's visit to Russia marked a new stage in developing the cooperation between the two countries, he noted, and continued: Russia supports efforts made by the DPRK leadership and its people to improve the country's conditions and carry out the tasks for socio-economic development and the desire of the Koreans in the north and the south to reunify the country independently and peacefully.
He pointed out that Russia is pleased to see the DPRK's international position growing strong, adding that it is ready to render every cooperation in this positive process.

23rd anniversary of Islamic revolution in Iran observed

Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dedicates an article to the 23rd anniversary of the Islamic revolution of the Iranian people. The Iranian people toppled the dictatorial monarchy and achieved a victory in the Islamic revolution on February 11, 1979 under the guidance of Ayatollah Imam Khomeini, leader of the Islamic revolution.
Since the victory in the revolution the Iranian people have steadily advanced along the road chosen by themselves, firmly defending the gains of the Islamic revolution, the article says, and continues:
The Iranian people have waged an unflinching struggle to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country and the dignity of the nation, while resolutely foiling the imperialists' interference in its internal affairs and their moves for aggression, subversion and sabotage.
They have achieved many successes in various fields through energetic efforts to develop the economy of the country despite the imperialists' persistent sanctions.
The more the imperialists get desperate in their moves against Iran, the higher the Iranian people are holding the banner of independence against imperialism.
The efforts of the Iranian people to achieve the independent development of the country defying the persistent challenge of the imperialists will yield good results.

KCNA on U.S. conservatives' rash act

Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- Rice, assistant to the U.S. President for National Security, reportedly made anti-DPRK provocative remarks at a national conservative convention. Reiterating Bush's outbursts made in his recent "state of the union address", Rice claimed that the DPRK is "the world's largest nation in the export of ballistic missiles."
This totally false propaganda is intended to do harm to and isolate and stifle the DPRK.
What merits special attention in such smear campaign is that she went so far to urge the DPRK to give up "terrorism", a fiction.
As is recognized by the world, the United States is the world's largest exporter of not only ordinary arms but ballistic missiles.
Most of the missiles, possessed by many countries at present and used in regional disputes and wars outside the U.S. mainland after the second world war, are U.S.-made missiles, which were sold out by American ammunitions monopolies or developed and manufactured with the U.S. help. Rice must know about this fact.
As for her call for "renouncement of terrorism", the DPRK has already made clear its principled stand that it is opposed to all forms of terrorism and any support to it. It also acceded to international conventions on prevention of terrorism and has strictly abided by its international commitment.
This is a stark fact recognized by the U.S. authorities themselves.
However, Rice again pulled up the DPRK over "terrorism".
Her argument this time is little short of deliberate and provocative war outcries designed to put political pressure and make a military attack on the DPRK under the pretext of "anti-terrorism war."
Such outbursts made by advocates of the cold war in the wake of Bush's recent argument about "axis of evil" are timed to coincide with the U.S. massive arms buildup and the ill-boding moves of its forces, posing a serious threat of war.
The DPRK will never overlook this touch-and-go situation.
The U.S. should not act rashly, mindful that there is a limit to our warning and self-restrain.
