Kuala Lumpur, March 4 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, President of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, paid a courtesy call on Malaysian King Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni al-Marhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail at the royal palace today. Present there was Malaysian prime minister Datuk Sri Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamed.
    They had a friendly conversation.

Spring land management brisk in DPRK

Pyongyang, March 6 (KCNA) -- An all-out drive for land management in spring was launched in the DPRK. Officials and working people across the country have turned out in the drive to renew the looks of the country while speeding up the vigorous march to glorify this significant year as a year of a new leaping advance in the building of a powerful nation.
In the period of the drive hundreds of millions of fast-growing trees of high economic value such as acacia and Changsong larch will be planted along the main roads and railways and in residential quarters and mountains in provinces, cities and counties so as to spruce up the urban and countryside and create more firewood, oil-bearing trees, papermaking material and timber forests.
Meanwhile, river embankment projects will be stepped up, over 600 hectares of bank-protecting forests created and hundreds of thousands of cubic meters of feldspar laid on anti-tidal dykes to prevent damage from floods and tidal waves.

Bush's crimes condemned

Pyongyang, March 6 (KCNA) -- The central committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea released a white paper on Feb. 13 denouncing the Bush administration for putting the brake on the implementation of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, according to Seoul-based Radio Voice of National Salvation. This lengthy document titled "white paper on the crimes of the bush administration which blocked the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration" has three parts: "1. Crime of straining North Korea-U.S. relations", "2. Crime of hindering north-south concord" and "3. Crime of sparking crisis of war".
According to the white paper, the brakes have been put on the implementation of the June 15 inter-Korean joint declaration, the north-south dialogue has been deadlocked together with the DPRK-U.S. dialogue, and the Korean Peninsula has been embroiled in the Cold War over the past one year since the appearance of the bush administration.
    The white paper said:
After its emergence, the bush administration began hindering the implementation of the joint declaration by hamstringing the process of improving the DPRK-U.S. relations. In order to foil the events of the Korean nation for reunification, it employed three operations to torpedo the North Korea-U.S. summit talks, ditch the North Korea-U.S. agreed framework and bring the North Korea-U.S. negotiations to a collapse.
Bush's statement on the policy toward North Korea, published after nearly five months of its examination last year, was a statement denying the dialogue and the improvement of relations between the DPRK and the U.S.
At the South Korea-U.S. summit on March 7 last year, bush forced South Korea to warm the inter-Korean relations only with the U.S. approval, claiming that North Korea is not trustworthy and there is much intransparency in its nuclear development and missile issue.
The emergence of the bush administration has also driven the reconciliation and dialogue between the north and south of Korea to a deadlock, hindered their exchange and cooperation and blocked visits and meetings.
The Bush regime emerged a powder-reeking "military regime" and "war cabinet". "South Korea-U.S. cooperation system" which it regards as a basis for the bilateral relations, is a war system intended to drag South Korea into the missile defense system and the U.S.-Japan alliance and force it to participate in the "anti-terrorism operations".
The Bush administration is shipping into South Korea missiles and other weapons worth ten trillion won from last year while urging the DPRK to unilaterally reduce its arms.
War-like Bush has put pressure upon the DPRK, clamouring about "mass-destruction weapons", provocative phraseology, to find a pretext for a war against the north. and in his "state of the union address" on Jan. 30, he listed the DPRK, Iraq and Iran as members of "axis of evil". This was an open declaration of war against the north as it officially singled out it as a target of the "escalated anti-terrorism operations".
The DPRK is the main target of the bush regime's new military strategy in the 21st century. The U.S. moves made so far since the "September 11 incident" were aimed to take the DPRK as a target of the "anti-terrorism war" and put it into practice.
Bush's tour of Seoul on Feb. 19 was a war junket designed to confirm this plan on the spot and let the U.S. forces go over to a real action.
Through his trip Bush intended to force South Korea to scrap the June 15 joint declaration, a programme for the independent reunification of the Korean nation, and spark on the Korean Peninsula a war which will bring about a national ruin, the paper warned, adding: our people can never overlook this fact.
The paper expressed the expectation that the world community would extend full support and solidarity to the Korean people in the just struggle to make the U.S. finally pay its price and achieve independence, peace and reunification of the country by implementing the joint declaration.

KCNA on U.S. demand for "nuclear inspection"

Pyongyang, March 6 (KCNA) -- The top diplomat and some members of the House of Representatives of the United States recently demanded "inspection" of the DPRK's nuclear facilities. They asserted that the U.S. should ditch the DPRK-U.S. agreed framework and suspend the lwr project to terminate the DPRK's "nuclear development program" unless such a demand is met.
It is not clear yet whether this assertion reflected the personal will of some U.S. statesmen echoing Bush's reckless remarks or an official stand and view of the U.S. administration and congress.
But, foreign media comment that the U.S. is projecting the issue of scrapping the framework in a bid to put sort of pressure upon and pose a threat to the DPRK.
It is evident that the Bush administration and the hard-line conservatives of the Republican Party, which dominates the U.S. House of Representatives, are now dancing on a tight rope to make the abrogation of the agreed framework an established fact.
As was recognized by the world community, the framework is a landmark for solution to the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula and a document of historic significance. stipulated in it are concrete ways of fundamentally settling the nuclear issue that originated from the abnormal relations between the DPRK and the U.S.
That is why the DPRK has consistently and honestly implemented the provisions of the framework, respecting its basic spirit.
But, the United States, instead of discharging its obligations, is now seeking a pretext to annul the framework, arguing that the DPRK is "pushing forward its nuclear program in violation of the agreement." This is no more than sheer sophism as it makes profound confusing of right and wrong.
The historical process of implementing the agreed framework and the present reality prove that the U.S. side had no political will to sincerely implement it from the outset and the hard-line hawkish group of the bush administration, in particular, had called for the revision of the framework while openly expressing antipathy to it. At last they have fully disclosed their insidious intention to scrap it.
The agreed framework is now at risk owing to the U.S. unilateral and antagonistic attitude and stand.
Its implementation, as a matter of fact, provides a good way of settling the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula, but the united states is keen to totally nullify it. under this situation, the DPRK can no longer underline the significance of the framework now gathering dust but will go its own way, not unilaterally bound to the framework.
If the U.S. abrogates the agreed framework at last, it will have to take full responsibility for political, moral and material compensation to be entailed by it.

Kuala Lumpur, March 4 (KCNA) -- Malaysian King Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni Al-Marhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail hosted a reception at the royal palace in the evening in honor of Kim Yong Nam, President of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, on an official goodwill visit to Malaysia. Present on invitation together with him were foreign minister Paek Nam Sun, minister of foreign trade Ri Kwang Gun, president of the academy of sciences Ri Kwang Ho, acting chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries Mun Jae Chol, DPRK ambassador to Malaysia Kim Ja Ryong and other suite members.

He said he was satisfied with his visit that proved fruitful thanks to the deep concern of the king and the government of Malaysia, highly praised the Malaysian government and people for having upheld independence and increased the prestige and influence of the country in the international arena. He sincerely wished them new success in the work to build the country into an advanced nation.

Mounting anti-U.S., anti-Bush sentiment in S. Korea

Pyongyang, March 6 (KCNA) -- Papers today comment on the mounting anti-U.S., anti-Bush sentiment in South Korea. Rodong Sinmun in a signed commentary says that a song "rare cake" lampooning Bush who fell into a swoon with a cake in his throat is very popular in South Korea. This is a deserved blow to him, it notes, and goes on:
The creation of songs critical of the U.S. and Bush in South Korea reflects the public's bitter resentment at the U.S., the empire of evil, and towering hatred for Bush.
No sooner had the U.S. administration taken office than it rapidly escalated the anti-DPRK policy and the malignant smear campaign against it.
Not content with this, Bush listed the DPRK as a member of the "axis of evil."
Lurking behind his intention is to tarnish the image of the dignified DPRK and fan up confrontation between the north and the south in a bid to strain the situation on the Korean Peninsula, dampen the desire of the Korean nation for independent reunification and keep U.S. forces in South Korea for an indefinite period.
Bush is so naive as to calculate that with such vituperation he can browbeat someone.
It is quite natural that the South Korean people are becoming more angry and critical than ever before of the U.S. and Bush keen to enslave the Korean nation.
The public mindset has definitely turned anti-U.S., anti-Bush.
Minju Joson in a signed commentary says that the U.S. imperialists should drop their anachronistic wild ambition for aggression, properly understand the South Korean people's will to struggle against the U.S. and stop at once their moves for aggression and war.

Bush's remarks slammed

Pyongyang, March 6 (KCNA) -- Recently foreign political parties and organizations lashed out at Bush for his reckless remarks against the DPRK. The central committee of the Czechoslovak Communist Party in a statement said that Bush's utterances describing the DPRK as a member of the "axis of evil" prove that he is politically half-witted.
Noting that his remarks are intended to deny the inter-Korean dialogue, the statement urged the U.S. to take its hands off Korea.
The people's socialist party of Mexico in an appeal to the Mexican people scathingly condemned Bush for his remarks threatening the world peace and urged the U.N. to discharge its obligation to ensure the world peace.
Noting that the party would regard any aggression on the DPRK as an aggression on Mexico, the appeal called on all the Mexican people to extend more positive solidarity to the fraternal Korean people.
The Russian Association for Solidarity and Cooperation with Asian and African Peoples in a statement said that Bush's utterances prove the U.S. is scheming to take a military action against the DPRK.
The association appealed to political parties and governments of all the countries, international organizations and the world honest-minded peoples to take a practical step not to allow U.S. attempt to abuse the "anti-terrorist war" against the sovereign states and independent peoples of the world.
The Portugal-Korea Friendship Association bitterly assailed bush for inciting the bellicosity of the U.S., noting that his remarks remind it of the shuddering Korean war (1950-1953) committed by the U.S.

Release of patriotic students urged in S. Korea

Pyongyang, March 6 (KCNA) -- The "national federation of student travelers" in South Korea reportedly released a statement on March 2 in demand of the release of those involved in the occupation and sit-in at the U.S. chamber of commerce and industry. Among them arrested is Pak Jun Ma, a student of Kyongwon University who is a representative of its affiliated federation of student travelers in eastern Kyonggi Province. The statement said the occupation of the chamber by students under the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils on Feb. 18 was a heroic struggle in which national stamina and spirit of the South Korean students were fully demonstrated.
Those occupationists have been imprisoned for the mere reason that they warmly loved the country and the nation, it pointed out, urging the release of them.

Pyongyang, March 6 (KCNA) -- The grand mass gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang" is close to completion as a masterpiece thanks to the tireless efforts of the creators and performers. It will be staged in Pyongyang in April amid the great expectation and concern of the Koreans and foreigners.

Method of duplicating laser holograms developed

Pyongyang, March 6 (KCNA) -- DPRK scientists succeeded in developing the technique of engraving micro diagrams semi-micron in size and the process of duplicating multiple diagrams. They made an optical, physio-chemical and mechanical duplication of laser holograms with an interval of interference pattern less than 1m and established a hologram quality control method in different processes.
This peculiar technique is applicable to manufacturing integrated optical chips for processing optical information to make separation, concentration, expansion, scanning, reflexion and calculation according to different ray waves, holography disks for super high-density recording, quality stereo-photographs and decorating materials, while cutting down production cost.
It is also useful for detecting forged certificates and cards, notes and trademarks of different kinds.

Proud Korean Taekwon-do expert

Pyongyang, March 6 (KCNA) -- Ri Yong Jo, people's sportsman, is a Taekwon-do expert. He was born on Feb. 13, Juche 54 (1965). He is 175cm high and weighs 75 kg.
He began to learn Taekwon-do at the age of 12 and had worked as a coach for ten odd years to train a large number of excellent Taekwon-do players and coaches.
Among them are people's sportswoman Jang Kyong Ok, who came first at the 8th, 9th and 11th world Taekwon-do championships, people's sportswomen Kim Yong Sun and Paek Chun Ok and 12 merited sportswomen.
He is now working as chief of the training section of the Taekwon-do group under the Korean Taekwon-do committee.

Meeting of victims of Ukishimamaru incident held

Pyongyang, March 6 (KCNA) -- The Committee for Promoting Reparation to Victims of the Ukishimamaru Incident in South Korea held a "national meeting of victims of the Ukishimamaru incident" in Seoul on March 1 and demanded a probe into the truth behind the incident and the restoration of the honor of the victims, according to Seoul-based Yonhap News. At the meeting three incident survivors including Jong Ki Yong, 75, testified to the incident of the ship, which was blown up on August 24, 1945 while crossing the Korea strait with thousands of Korean draftees aboard.
Korean in Japan Ri Pyong Man, chairman of the "society for probing the truth about victims of the Ukishimamaru incident" active in Japan for investigating the truth behind the incident, said "there were testimonies that a lot of remains of the dead were discovered during a search on the seabed of the Maizuru gulf of Japan where the ship sank down and that thousands of remains of the dead were buried in a valley in the marine base at Maizuru port."
Han Yong Yong, chairman of the above-said committee, declared that the committee is planning to officially demand the Japanese government probe the truth behind the incident as regards the testimonies.
At the meeting a joint statement was adopted.
Saying it is still a long way to go to probe the truth about the incident though 57 years have passed since its occurrence, the statement demanded the Japanese government make public information necessary for probing the truth, cooperate in finding remains of the dead and make an apology and substantial reparation for the incident.
And it urged the South Korean "government" authorities to make positive efforts to probe the truth and restore the honor of the victims.

Rodong Sinmun on anti-imperialist class struggle

Pyongyang, March 6 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in an editorial says that the anti-imperialist and class character of the Korean revolution remains unchanged although the Korean revolution has made a long march with the alteration of generations and centuries. It goes on:
The struggle for defending socialism and building a powerful nation is accompanied by a life and death struggle against the imperialists.
As the domination and plunder, high-handed and arbitrary practices of the imperialists are becoming undisguised, class contradictions are growing very acute worldwide.
The U.S. imperialists, "overconfident in strength," betray their attempt to invade the DPRK by repeating outbursts little short of declaration of a war against it. Korea is a place of the fiercest confrontation with the U.S. in all ideological, political, military, economic and cultural fields and forefront of the anti-imperialist class struggle.
The uplifted slogan for building a powerful nation is a banner of continued revolution and struggle, a banner reflecting strong anti-imperialist class awareness.
Only when we invariably carry forward the proud history and tradition of the 20th century with which we defended the sovereignty of the nation and the destiny of socialism without the slightest concession and compromise with the imperialists and class enemies, can we devotedly defend our ideology, political system and cause and fully demonstrate the dignity and honour of Juche Korea despite whatever hardships.
The army-based policy of the Workers' Party of Korea serves as a banner of the most staunch and powerful anti-imperialist and class struggle. Nothing is more important than placing military affairs above anything else and sharpening the sword to wage the anti-imperialist struggle.

Ranam Coal Mining Machine Complex

Pyongyang, March 6 (KCNA) -- The Ranam Coal Mining Machine Complex is situated in Chongjin, North Hamgyong Province, in the northern part of the DPRK. Th1s is the place where the torch of Ranam, the first of its kind in the new century, was lit.
It reflects the spirit of devotedly defending the leader and unconditionally carrying out tasks with the do-or-die determination, not saying empty words nor shouting slogans.
This complex with a large mother factory and several subsidiary factories is playing a key role in modernizing the coal mining equipment in the country.
The complex produces highly efficient coal cutting equipment such as coal cutting machine, winch, large cogwheel and medium- and small-size cogwheel and multi-function processing equipment.
Leader Kim Jong Il visited this complex after concluding his historic Russia visit in last August and highly appreciated the successes made by its officials and workers.
Although conditions remain difficult, the officials and workers there are setting an example for the whole country in increasing the production with conviction and courage, pooling their efforts and living optimistically.

Message of thanks to Malaysian King

Kuala Lumpur, March 5 (KCNA) -- President Kim Yong Nam of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly today sent a message of thanks to Malaysian King Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni al-Marhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail on leaving Malaysia. He expressed the conviction that his Malaysia visit would mark a significant and important occasion in further expanding and developing the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries in the new century.

Kim Yong Nam back home

Pyongyang, March 6 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, President of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, arrived here today by a special plane after successfully winding up his six-day official goodwill visit to Thailand and Malaysia. U.S. accused of pulling up DPRK over "human rights issue"

Pyongyang, March 6 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry answered a question put by KCNA today accusing the united states of pulling up the DPRK again over the "human rights issue." He said:
The U.S. State Department released an "annual report on human rights for the year 2001" on March 4 in which it let loose stereotyped vituperation against the DPRK, talking about "dictatorship," "lawlessness" and "absence of political and civil rights."
It is a well-known fact that the U.S. is a land with the world's poorest human rights record.
The U.S. finds itself in such a pitiful position that it lost membership of the U.N. human rights organization.
Such being the hard fact, the U.S. is making much fuss over the human rights situation in other countries, styling itself a "judge".
this is the height of folly.
Through this smear campaign over the "human rights issue" the U.S. seeks to hurt man-centered socialism in the DPRK where the leader, the party and the masses form a harmonious whole. But this is as ridiculous as trying to sweep the sea with a broom.
All human rights are guaranteed by law in the DPRK and its people fully enjoy true political freedom and rights as genuine masters of the state and society.
The U.S. desperate moves to destroy the DPRK's political system will only harden the Korean people's will to defend to the last the most advantageous socialist system of their own style.
The U.S. should clearly know that its reckless efforts to unilaterally apply its "human rights standards" to other countries will only invite international criticism, scoff and isolation.
