U.S. nuclear war scenario criticized
Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- Martin Lotscher, chairman of the Swiss Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification, on March 14 made public a statement condemning the U.S. for its scenario for a nuclear assault on the DPRK and sent a letter of protest to the U.S. President.
He in his statement said the U.S. threat of nuclear attack shows that Bush stoops to any crimes to dominate the whole of Korea and use it as a U.S. base for carrying out its aggressive Asia strategy.
He continued:
The Swiss Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification condemns the Bush group's scenario for a nuclear war against the DPRK and the Korean people with surging indignation and resentment.
If the U.S. imperialists unleash the second Korean War, the heroic Korean people's army and the Korean people will wipe out this group of murderers.
He in his letter of protest to the U.S. President said that bush is keen to drive the situation on the Korean Peninsula to the brink of a nuclear war and impose disasters upon the whole world. He denounced the U.S. as an empire of evil, the root cause of all evils and the biggest sponsor of international terrorism.
He warned that if the U.S. attacks the DPRK with nukes, it will suffer disastrous consequences.
Campaign for boycotting U.S. goods launched in S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- The anti-U.S. sentiment is mounting among citizens and students in Pusan area of South Korea, Seoul-based Yonhap News reported.
The Pusan Christian Young Women's Society, the headquarters of the movement for encouraging the use of home-made goods and seven other organizations held a Pusan citizens' rally for the campaign to boycott U.S. goods on March 18.
The organizations denounced the United States for resorting to such unjust high-handed practices as forcing South Korea to purchase the U.S.-made fighters, prompted by the brigandish logic of "strength," and declaring a war trade to destroy the world trade order.
They declared that they would organize people from all walks of life and launch a campaign for boycotting U.S.-made goods.
Prior to it, the Pusan Citizens' Solidarity for Reunification Movement on March 16 and 17 held a "meeting of proclaiming citizens' action against forcible sale of weapons, war and South Korea-U.S.-Japan military exercises".
And the general students council of Pusan national university entered into an anti-U.S. demonstration in front of the university gate on March 11.
Unabated struggle against introduction of U.S.-made fighters in S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- A ceremony of proclaiming the second round of the intensive struggle against the introduction of U.S.-made fighters was reportedly held in front of the building of the "Ministry of National Defence" of South Korea on March 20 under the sponsorship of the council for national reconciliation and independent reunification, the people standing for peace and reunification and other organizations.
The struggle, a follow-up of the first round of the intensive struggle held from march 6 to 9, is to be staged from march 20 to 29, during which strikes, demonstrations, rallies, etc. will be held everyday.
Large-scale joint military exercises under fire
Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- More than 700 citizens' and public organizations of South Korea reportedly held a joint press conference in front of the U.S. embassy in Seoul on march 20 to voice opposition to the large-scale joint war maneuvers under the sponsorship of the joint action for peace against war a press release issued at the conference said: "We clearly state once again our nation never wants a war and that no one can impose a war on US".
The current drills involving more than 500,000-strong armed forces, the largest in history, mean, in fact, the resumption of the "Team Spirit" exercises, it said, strongly demanding the U.S. immediately stop the war exercises intended to bring a holocaust of a nuclear war to this land.
The press release denounced the sycophantic and treacherous act of the authorities who, taking an advantage of the U.S. war policy, are increasing the danger of war, leaving the destiny of the nation to the tender mercy of outsiders and adamantly denying the spirit of the June 15 joint declaration.
At the end of the press conference the permanent representative of the reunification solidarity issued an appeal opposing the nuclear war exercises and entered a hunger strike.
Citizens' and public organizations expressed their will to stage in real earnest hunger strikes, demonstrations, etc. opposing the large-scale war maneuvers till March 27.
S. Korean trade union federation "outlawed"
Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- The "Ministry of Administrative Autonomy" of South Korea on March 17 "outlawed" the newly formed South Korean General Federation of Trade Unions of public service workers and informed the prosecution of the list of its chairman and more than ten hardcore members, Seoul-based Radio No. 1 reported.
The ministry ordered the chairman to appear at the Jungbu (central) police station of Jonju, North Jolla Province, till March 20 and instructed the relevant enterprises to punish other members.
U.S.-S. Korea joint military exercises condemned
Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary slams the madcap large-scale joint military exercises now under way in South Korea.
The exercises being staged under the simulated conditions of an invasion of the north involve more than 43,000 strong-U.S. aggression forces from the mainland, Japan and Guam island and in South Korea and over 500,000 South Korean troops, the commentary observes, and goes on:
These are timed to coincide with the threat made by warmonger bush to mount a nuclear attack on the DPRK in the wake of his South Korea visit after singling out the DPRK as part of an "axis of evil." This sabre-rattling can not be construed otherwise than a premeditated military provocation aimed to mount a preemptive nuclear attack on the DPRK.
What must not be overlooked is the fact that the South Korean war hawks have come out to support the U.S. imperialists in their nuclear war against the DPRK in contravention of the spirit of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.
In pursuance of the U.S. imperialists' hostile policy toward the DPRK the South Korean war hawks are levelling their guns at fellow countrymen who are working hard to ensure the peace of the country and security of the nation and achieve independent reunification by its concerted efforts. This is a thrice-coursed criminal act.
The DPRK can neither pardon nor show any mercy to the U.S. imperialists who are keen to stifle the DPRK by force of arms, while making nuclear blackmail and staging sabre-rattling, and the South Korean war hawks subservient to them.
It is the revolutionary spirit and the unshakeable will of the DPRK to return fire for fire, react to retaliation and answer an all-out war with an all-out war.
If the U.S. imperialists and the South Korean war hawks make a preemptive attack on the DPRK at last, ignorant of its warning, they are sure to be burnt to death in the fire kindled by them.
S. Korean-Japanese people's declaration made public
Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- The South Korean "people's action against investment agreement and the world trade organization" and a Japanese organization jointly made public a "declaration of South Korean and Japanese people" against the conclusion of the South Korea-Japan "investment agreement" on March 21, according to a news report.
The declaration said the South Korean and Japanese authorities turned a deaf ear to the two peoples' strong opposition to the conclusion of the "agreement" and went so far as to round it off.
It said that the "investment agreement" sacrifices the South Korean people's right of labour, democracy and economic sovereignty in the interests of foreign investors and instigates the overseas sale and privatization of key industries including power and railway.
Japanese prime minister's Seoul visit under fire
Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- Different organizations of South Korea are reported to have strongly denounced the Japanese prime minister's Seoul visit and the large-scale joint military exercises.
16 citizens' and public organizations in Taejon and Chungchong area including the Taejon and South Chungchong Provincial Federation of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification, the Taejon headquarters of the (South) Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, the South Chungchong Provincial Federation of the "National Federation of Peasants Associations" and the Federation of University Student Councils in Chungchong Area issued a joint statement.
The joint statement said that Japan is further strengthening the U.S.-Japan "alliance" according to the U.S. war scenario and seeking to become a military power.
Branding the large-scale joint military exercises involving more than 500,000-strong armed forces in all parts of South Korea as war drills being staged according to the U.S. strategy for domination to dampen the will of the whole nation for reunification and send the situation on the Korean Peninsula back to confrontation, the statement stressed the need to wage a ceaseless struggle against the maneuvers in their whole period.
The "national alliance for democracy and reunification" dismissed Koizumi's current visit to South Korea as a trip for economic aggression to conclude the unequal "South Korea-Japan investment agreement" and "free trade agreement" and a junket aimed to justify the moves to turn Japan into a military power that obstructs peace on the Korean Peninsula with the U.S. backing.
The university students council of dong-a university in a statement said that Koizumi's visit to Seoul takes place at a time when the large-scale joint military exercises are on the order of the day in the south of the Korean Peninsula. It is no doubt that share his tour is aimed to encourage the joint military drills and the moves for a war against the peninsula, it noted.
Meanwhile, citizens' and public organizations in Taegu and north Kyongsang provincial area, the preparatory committees of the people's solidarity of Taegu and North Kyongsang Province and the reunification solidarity of Taegu and North Kyongsang Province and other organizations, 46 in all, jointly issued a press release at the press conference on March 21 denouncing Koizumi's trip to South Korea.
Rally for peace of Okinawa and Japan-DPRK friendship held in Japan
Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- A rally for peace of Okinawa and Japan-DPRK friendship was held on March 10 under the sponsorship of the Okinawa, Japan, liaison council for the study of the Juche idea.
Saburo Katagari, secretary general of the Okinawa 21 strategic forum, Seiichi Sakugawa, chairman of the Okinawa liaison council for the study of the Juche idea and professor of Okinawa University, and Kenichi Ogami, secretary general of the International Institute of the Juche Idea, made reports at the rally.
The reporters underscored the need to independently develop the movement for the Japan-DPRK friendship according to their own faith and will to cope with the changed subjective and objective conditions where the Japan-DPRK relations stand, significantly commemorate the 90th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung and direct greater efforts to the study and dissemination of the Juche idea.
A letter to leader Kim Jong Il was adopted at the rally.
KCNA refutes Japanese FM's remarks against DPRK
Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- Japanese foreign minister Kawaguchi was reported to have groundlessly slandered the DPRK by asserting that "North Korea is the only problematic state in East Asia," while talking about security in the region and humanitarian issues.
As diplomacy is said to be a follow-up of state policy, what a top diplomat of a country says directly reflects the foreign policy of the country.
Her utterance indicates Japan's narrow-minded attitude toward the DPRK as it clearly reflects its deep-rooted hostile policy toward the DPRK.
The DPRK can not but take a serious note of the fact that Japan has invariably persisted in mud-slinging at the DPRK.
The DPRK is an independent and peace-loving sovereign state which has consistently identified independence, peace and friendship with the avowed idea of its foreign policy.
To look back on its past history it has never invaded nor threatened other countries.
Ignoring the stark fact that the DPRK does not pose any threat to any country, as recognized by the international community, the Japanese foreign minister deliberately dubbed the DPRK a "problematic state." clear is the aim sought by her in her tongue wagging.
It was intended to mislead the unbiased world public opinion, tarnish the international image of the DPRK and sideline it in East Asia. But this is a foolish trick.
Her remark merits more serious attention as it came at a time when the U.S. is escalating moves to stifle the DPRK in the wake of its announcement of a dangerous plan for nuclear attacks on some countries.
This is nothing but another political cartoon revealing Japan's vulgar political mode of following and fawning upon the U.S. in its persistent moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK.
For this Japan will only stand rejected and censured by the international community.
World Day of Meteorology marked
Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- Minju Joson today in a signed article observes the World Day of Meteorology.
It says:
It is the common task of humankind at present to prevent the loss of human lives and properties from natural disasters.
Humankind has much to be done to free from the danger of natural disasters by abnormal climate.
It is very important for each country to put the activities of national hydro-meteorological institutions on a high technological foundation for modernization and scientification of weather forecast and expand international exchange of meteorological information and cooperation with the relevant international organizations.
The DPRK registered many successes in the hydro-meteorological field.
The hydro-meteorological service boasts of firm material and technical foundations and hundreds of provincial, city and county meteorological and hydrological observatories which have established daily communication systems.
The DPRK government will boost relationship with the world meteorological organization and direct more efforts to this filed so as to ensure security of human lives and a stable living.
Heightened vigilance against Japan called for
Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- Japan has fully disclosed its true nature as a more dangerous war state and aggression force than what it was in the 20th century, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary.
Noting that warships and airplanes of the Japanese "Self-Defence Forces" (SDF) were sent to the Indian ocean to provide strong support to the U.S. in its Afghan war and they are still active there away from their "exclusive defensive mission," the commentary says that this is, in essence, a war involvement and a prelude to an overseas aggression.
It continues:
Japan ranks itself among the world's leading nations in military muscle and it has provided a legal guarantee and precedent to dispatch its aggression forces overseas as it pleases.
The Japanese chief executive has worked hard to convert the country into a military power and realize overseas aggression in utter disregard of economic commitments since his assumption of office.
Japan is turning more reactionary, fascist and aggressive."
Japanese militarism has, in fact, embarked upon overseas aggression to conquer the Asian continent and the rest of the world. Japan is set to leave no means untried to bring even a nuclear holocaust to humankind to attain this purpose. Herein lies increased danger of Japanese imperialism.
The reality calls for following with heightened vigilance Japan that emerged a war state from a "peace state" and holding high the banner of struggle against Japan.
The Japanese reactionaries are well advised to refrain from doing anything foolish that may lead it to drink another bitter cup of defeat.
