Noting that the Korean people have achieved great progress not only in the cultural field but all other spheres under the wise guidance of leader Kim Jong Il, minister of culture and arts Norodom Bopha Devi said that Cambodian king Norodom Sihanouk was paying great attention to the development of the friendly relations with the DPRK.
She expressed belief that the ties of cooperation in the cultural and art field between the two peoples would grow stronger and develop in the future.
Then the participants went round the exhibition.

Defending national sovereignty called for

Pyongyang, March 31 (KCNA) -- The Bush administration torpedoed multi-faceted negotiations and contacts, scuppered the DPRK-U.S. agreed framework and has pursued confrontation and war against the DPRK, while obstructing the inter-Korean dialogue and the implementation of the north-south joint declaration. In this regard Minju Joson today in a signed commentary says:
The situation on the Korean Peninsula has reached an extreme pitch of tension and the danger of a new war is increasing owing to an adventurous anti-DPRK line of the bellicose bush group and its war moves.
It is the consistent policy of the DPRK to prevent a war and defend peace.
We want peace, not a war. There is no reason for the compatriots in the north and the south to fight each other.
But it is our revolutionary stand not to allow anyone to infringe upon our sovereignty and dignity, wantonly challenging our peace-loving efforts.
The U.S. imperialists' moves for aggression and war and their presence in South Korea are the basic factor of disturbing peace and barring the peaceful reunification of Korea and the root cause of bringing a nuclear holocaust to the Korean nation.
If the U.S. imperialists are allowed to carry on their war moves and perpetuate their forces' presence in South Korea, a new war will engulf our country and put the nation's destiny and the future of our country in danger.
Had the DPRK failed to increase the national defence capability and follow an army-based policy, The U.S. imperialists would have ignited a new war in Korea.
The army-based policy is a true patriotic policy to defend the nation's security and the country's peace. This has been clearly proved by the present reality.
The army-based policy is aimed to defend and glorify the socialist system and mount a fierce attack upon and deal merciless blows at the aggressors.

Declaration on present situation issued

Pyongyang, March 31 (KCNA) -- 790 teachers of primary, middle and high schools in South Jolla Province, South Korea, under the "national teachers union" reportedly issued a declaration on the present situation on march 26 in support of the struggle of the unionists. Expressing absolute support to the members of the power industry trade union in their strike and the formation of the civil servants union, the declaration urged the authorities to immediately halt their crackdown on the strike and honestly approach the dialogue with the trade union.
It denounced the authorities for their policy of privatizing public enterprises.
It also accused them of refusing to recognize the civil servants union, dismissing its formation as "illegal." The declaration said that they would encourage the struggle of the workers of the power industry and the civil servants union and actively support them.

Implementation of June 15 joint declaration urged in S. Korea

Pyongyang, March 31 (KCNA) -- The reunification solidarity for the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration and peace on the Korean Peninsula (Thongil Ryondae) reportedly sponsored a press conference against war and for the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration beside the U.S. embassy in Seoul on March 27. The press conference was held after rev. Han Sang Ryol, permanent representative of Thongil Ryondae, staged a hunger sit-in in front of the U.S. embassy for 8 days from March 20. It was called to denounce the U.S. moves to turn the Korean Peninsula into a theatre of war and harden the will to implement the June 15 joint declaration.
Rev. Han released an article titled "finishing up the hunger sit-in opposing South Korea-U.S. joint military exercises, war exercise and urging the repentance and withdrawal of the U.S."
During the period of his hunger strike he reaffirmed that the way out of the Korean nation is, first of all, to implement the June 15 joint declaration, he said, adding:
The joint declaration is a watershed of a new history liquidating the times of division and opening an era of reunification and a great programme and milestone of the reunification movement.
A paper of the press conference was read out.

Cancellation of plan to introduce fighters demanded

Pyongyang, March 31 (KCNA) -- Different South Korean organizations reportedly released statements assailing the virtually confirmed plan to introduce U.S.-made fighters. The "national alliance for democracy and reunification" accused the present authorities and the "Ministry of National Defense" of South Korea of working hard to purchase "F-15K" fighters without fail, yielding to the pressure put by the U.S. upon them to buy its weapons.
The organization said that the authorities keen to purchase U.S.-made weapons under "South Korea-U.S. cooperation system" are playing into the hands of Washington seeking to cool down the inter-Korean ties.
The social democratic union noted that the authorities' unpopular U.S.-toeing flunkeyist selection of the outdated type of fighters under its coercion must be dismissed as treachery worse than that of traitor Ri Wan Yong.
It is our belief that it is the only way of preventing the repetition of such shameful treachery to force the U.S. troops to pull out of South Korea and thus win back national sovereignty and achieve the independent reunification, the statement added.
It urged the present "government" to immediately withdraw the decision made on the selection of the type of fighters and abrogate the "South Korea-U.S. mutual defense pact."

Anti-DPRK aerial espionage and war exercises under fire

Pyongyang, March 31 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists committed more than 150 cases of aerial espionage against the DPRK by mobilizing strategic and tactical reconnaissance planes with various missions in March, according to military sources. After its take-off from a U.S. air force base in South Korea a high altitude strategic reconnaissance plane "U-2" spied on strategic objects in the north, flying over South Korea for a long time.
On March 14 and 19, an "E-3" commanding plane left an overseas base and committed espionage on objects of the north side along the military demarcation line, commanding the fighters of the U.S. imperialist aggressors involved in an air battle exercise and a drill of striking the targets on the ground in South Korea.
Meanwhile, the U.S. imperialists committed aerial war exercises against the north in the sky over all parts of South Korea including forefront areas.
During the joint war exercises, a combination of the "Rsoi" and "Foal Eagle," staged from march 21 to 27 the U.S. imperialists let over 120 fighters fly in the sky over South Korea every day and mobilized at least 180 fighters on March 26 and 27, their last phase.
All these facts clearly prove that the U.S. imperialists are keen to seize the DPRK at a "single blow" through a surprise "preemptive attack" after singling out it as the next target of their operation following their afghan war.
