Kim Jong Il inspects new chicken farm

Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) - General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to the Anju Chicken Farm newly built by servicemen of the KPA. He heard a report on the successful completion of the farm from the commander of the unit which participated in its construction.
The farm with a total floor space of over 27,000 square meters is one more gift presented by him to the people with a strong desire to supply more meat and eggs to the army and the people.
After being briefed on the farm before its panoramic map, he looked round the exterior and interior of the farm covering scores of hectares reminiscent of rest homes to learn in detail about its construction and management and operation. he was greatly pleased to know that the soldier-builders have successfully completed the modern farm in such a short span of time in the spirit of devoted service to the people.
He highly praised the soldiers for their feats, saying that ardent patriotism of the soldier-builders who are bringing happiness to the people, has produced one more valuable treasure for the eternal prosperity of the country.
Recalling that the WPK and the people built modern chicken, catfish, duck, goat and cattle farms and other stock-breeding and fish farms in different parts of the country, thus laying a foundation for the building of a powerful nation with conviction of a bright future even in the period of "arduous march" and the forced march when the country was hard pressed for everything, he noted that this astonishing change clearly proves the stamina of Korea of Juche dynamically advancing towards new victory despite any trials.
A signal turn will be effected in the diet of the people if a work is minutely organized to make the stock-breeding centres constructed with much effort pay off and more stock and fish farms are built, he noted, calling on the whole party and army and all the people to energetically push forward this work.
He said it is an important revolutionary task for realising the centuries-old desire of the korean people to increase the production of meat, eggs, fish and other subsidiary foods and put forward important tasks that would serve as a guideline in bringing about a signal turn in putting the stockbreeding of the country on a new higher stage and improving the people's standard of living.
He was accompanied by Kim Kuk Thae, Jong Ha Chol and Kim Ki Nam who are secretaries of the WPK Central Committee and Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong who are generals of the KPA and others.
