Papers observe day of victory in war

Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) - In editorials dedicated to the 49th anniversary of the great victory in the Fatherland Liberation War, newspapers here today call for working harder to build a powerful socialist nation and accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche under the army-based leadership of Kim Jong Il and eternally glorifying the feats performed by President Kim Il Sung for the victory in the war. Kim Il Sung is an invincible and iron-willed commander who led the three-year revolutionary war to victory to save the country and the nation from a crisis and open a bright prospect for the Korean people and socialism. His revolutionary exploits will remain forever with history of the country, Rodong Sinmun says, and goes on:
We are now in the great era of the army-based policy by which we should glorify the 21st century with proud victory of the cause for independence against imperialism and the cause of socialism.
Under the army-centered revolutionary guidance of Kim Jong Il, the Korean People's Army has grown to be invincible revolutionary armed forces capable of reliably defending the party and the revolution, the country and the people from an aggression by any formidable enemy.
The Korean army and people can say with pride that they are now ready to smash the aggressors at one blow, even under more grim situation than that in the rigorous period of the last Korean War, and firmly defend Korean socialism and successfully build a powerful nation of Juche. No force on earth can match strength of them who are advancing under the great banner of the army-based policy.
Stressing the need to strengthen the PKA into an invincible revolutionary army on the principle of giving priority to the military affairs, the paper says: All the men and officers of the PKA should decisively punish any enemy without the slightest mercy, if he encroaches upon the inviolable land, sky and waters of the DPRK even 0.001mm, and deal a mercilessly retaliatory strike at those who dare violate its sovereignty, whoever they are or wherever they may be.
Minju Joson says that for Kim Il Sung's feats for the victory in the war to be exalted, it is important to remain loyal to Kim Jong Il's army-based revolutionary leadership.

He called for eternally glorifying the ever-victorious history of the revolutionary armed forces under the army-based leadership of supreme commander Kim Jong Il, cherishing the boundless national pride and self-confidence of being blessed with the brilliant commanders and winning victories in wars generation after generation.

Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) - A friendly meeting with the members of a delegation of the All-China Journalists Association was held here yesterday. Present on invitation at the meeting were members of the Chinese delegation headed by executive secretary of the association Li Cunhou.
Present there were Kim Sang Ho, vice-chairman of the central committee of the Korean Journalists Union, and other officials concerned.

Successful meeting for reunification called for

Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) - The south headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification issued a statement on July 24, welcoming the August 15 meeting for national reunification and Seoul visit of a delegation from the north and calling for the successful opening of the meeting. The statement said the agreement to hold pro-reunification functions in Seoul on August 15 and 16 deserves welcome as it was adopted on the understanding that the June 15 joint declaration is a national reunification program which should be implemented under any circumstances.
It called on all the Koreans to participate in the multifarious north-south events during the meeting with a resolve to implement the June 15 joint declaration and achieve independent reunification of the country.
It declared that anti-reunification acts going against the trend of great national unity will not be pardoned.
A handful of anti-reunification forces should never be allowed to kill the June 15 joint declaration and create a touch-and-go situation of war on the Korean peninsula.

GNP's apology urged

Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) - If Ri Hoe Chang and the Grand National party of south Korea persistently pursue confrontation with the DPRK, going against the nation and reunification, we will mount the second and third attack on the group of traitors to lay bare its true colors, says today's Thongil Sinbo, an independent newspaper issued here, in a commentator's article. It goes on:
As soon as the West Sea incident occurred, Ri Hoe Chang and his GNP described it as the north's armed provocation as part of their anti-DPRK campaign. They are using the National Assembly as a platform for overall confrontation with the north.
So Chong Won, representative of the GNP, in a speech at the National Assembly on July 18, misrepresenting the nature of the incident, asserted that the north should make an apology and, if not, both aid to the north and Mt. Kumgang tourism should be halted.
This is little short of the GNP's official declaration of confrontation and war with the north at the assembly.
The article makes it clear that the basic cause of the West Sea incident was the "Northern Limit Line."
Noting that the armed clash unexpectedly took place when warships of the south Korean navy intruded into the territorial waters of the north under the pretext of protecting fishing boats engaged in catching crabs after trespassing on the demarcation line in the West Sea, the article recalls the testimonies made by fishermen on Yonphyong islet and wounded south Korean sailors to it.
It accuses the GNP of crying out for a war against the north, failing to properly know about the nature of the incident.
The article cites facts to prove that the GNP is a criminal and treacherous party and the kingpin of irregularities and corruption which has to apologize to the nation a thousand times. It is the conclusion drawn by us that the nation can never escape from disasters as long as the GNP is allowed to go scot-free, it says.

U.S. forces' presence in S. Korea denounced

Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) - The history of the U.S. imperialists' presence in south Korea is woven with crimes as it has threatened the peace on the Korean peninsula and the security of the nation and inflicted only bloodshed and disasters upon the people of south Korea and all other Koreans in violation of the sovereignty of the Korean nation, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. It goes on:
It is the U.S. ambition for aggression to put the whole of Asia under its political and economic domination by turning the Korean peninsula of geo-political importance into a military base.
Right after the liberation of the country the U.S. imperialists did not withdraw their aggression forces from south Korea and pursued their policy of occupation there even after the Japanese imperialists were disarmed and the soviet army withdrew from the northern half of Korea.
The United States is still keeping its forces in south Korea in the new century, too, ignoring all the agreements and international resolutions that call for the withdrawal of the forces therefrom in the whole period of their occupation, and working hard to perpetuate its military presence in south Korea.
With the aim to guarantee the implementation of its policy for dominating Korea militarily, it has kept its aggression forces in south Korea and they have faithfully carried out the U.S. war policy. Throughout the history of their presence in south Korea the U.S. imperialist aggression forces committed all sorts of crimes including the start of the Korean War, ceaseless arms buildup and provocations for a war. The April 19 popular uprising and the Kwangju popular uprising were foiled and an opportunity of achieving reunification provided after the publication of the July 4 joint statement was missed because of the backing and intervention of the U.S. forces present in south Korea.
The movement for national reunification that had gained momentum after the adoption of the June 15 north-south joint declaration is undergoing ups and downs. This is attributable to the U.S. imperialists' presence in south Korea and their moves for confrontation and war against the DPRK and reunification.
The Bush administration staged large-scale war exercises against the DPRK involving the RSOI maneuver and the Foal Eagle exercise, the first of their kind in history, together with south Korea, after listing the DPRK as part of an "axis of evil" and talking about a "nuclear preemptive strike".
The policy of aggression and domination over other nation can never work on anyone. The U.S. is well advised to withdraw its aggression forces from south Korea without delay in line with the unanimous will of the new times and the Korean nation.

Anti-U.S. struggle called for

Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) - The spokesman for the national democratic front of south Korea issued a statement on July 26, calling for joining all those who love the country and the nation to vigorously turn out in the struggle to smash the U.S. imperialists' moves of war against the north and their moves against the reunification, according to the Seoul-based voice of national salvation. The statement was issued on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.
    It goes on:
The July 27 victory won by the north in the war clearly proved the truth that when a nation, though small, fights in single-hearted unity under the guidance of a great leader, it can defeat any formidable imperialist enemy.
If the U.S. ignites a war against the north, oblivious of its past lessons, it will face the merciless retaliatory strike of the matchless army and strong people in the north and the vigorous anti-U.S. resistance of the south Korean people and meet its miserable end.
If the U.S. imperialists ignite a war in the end, the south Koreans shoulder to shoulder with the brothers and sisters in the north will wipe out the aggressors on this land through nation-wide anti-U.S. resistance and achieve the historic cause of national reunification.

Paektu.
