Independence in politics

Pyongyang, October 28 (KCNA) -- The Juche idea elucidates an essence of independence in politics and indicates the way for realizing it. Maintaining independence in politics means defending the independence and sovereignty of one's country and the interests of one's people and pursuing politics by relying on one's people.
Political independence is the most important criterion and lifeline of an independent and sovereign state.
In order to realize the independence in all fields of the social life, it is imperative for the popular masses to realize the independence in the fields of the political life which takes a decisive and major position in the social life.
It is also important for political independence to set up a people's government and build up strong political forces.
Only when they set up the people's government, will they be able to solve all the problems in accordance with the interests of their people and the specific conditions of their country and ensure sovereignty in external relations.
In order to guarantee political independence, it is also necessary to have one's own guiding thought and exercise complete sovereignty and equality in foreign relations.
Political independence finds a graphic expression in working out and implementing all policies according to their own faith.
The policies, therefore, are specified by guiding thought.
If one does not have one's own guiding thought, one cannot but follow or imitate others in working out and implementing the policies without principles and coherence.
Only when each country fully exercises its sovereignty and equality, can it be called an independent and sovereign state which is able to provide its people with an independent and creative life.
The principle of independence in politics is a scientific and revolutionary guiding principle that makes it possible for the people of each country to actually exercise the political sovereignty as the genuine masters of the state power, defend the national dignity and achieve the prosperity of the country.
