Unabated struggle in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, December 11 (KCNA) -- Members of the South Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) and students affiliated to the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils, more than 1,000 in all, reportedly held an anti-U.S. rally at Jongmyo park in Seoul on Dec. 8 at which they bitterly denounced the U.S. Forces for arrogant act of giving a verdict of not guilty to GI criminals who killed two schoolgirls. On the same day poets under the South Korean Association of Literary Men held a poem recital meeting to the memory of the schoolgirls in university street in Seoul and religionists staged a hunger sit-in strike at a citizens' festival in Kwanghwamun, demanding the revision of the unequal South Korea-U.S. Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA).
    An anti-U.S., anti-war rally demanding conclusion of a non-aggression treaty between North Korea and the U.S. and withdrawal of the U.S. Forces, who killed schoolgirls, took place in front of the Myongdong Cathedral on Dec. 7. It was sponsored by the anti-U.S., anti-war and anti-nuke joint meeting.
    Prior to the rally, the organization held a photo exhibition and conducted propaganda activities including signature campaign in Myongdong.
    The KCTU called a press conference on Dec. 5, denouncing the brazen-faced act of the GIs who killed two schoolgirls. A letter of protest addressed to the U.S. President was adopted at the press conference.
    During the press conference, unionists of the confederation of taxi drivers' unions held an alarm-whistle demonstration in front of the U.S. embassy.
    The reunification solidarity for the implementation of the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration and the peace on the Korean Peninsula, the council for national reconciliation and independent reunification and five other organizations for peace and reunification movement also held a press conference in front of the "Korea communications" on Dec. 6, denouncing the GIs for obstructing inter-Korean exchange and cooperation.
    Meanwhile, students in Kwangju and South Jolla Province on Dec. 7 paid a protest visit to the Kwangju prison to punish the GIs stationed in South Korea who murdered schoolgirls, abolish the security law and improve conditions of prisons.

Fidel Castro Ruz meets delegation of WPK

     Havana, December 9 (KCNA) -- Fidel Castro Ruz, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Council of State and President of the Council of Ministers of Cuba, on December 8 met and had a friendly talk with the delegation of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) led by Jong Ha Chol, Secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, on a visit to Cuba. He said that he was very pleased to hear news of the fresh successes made in the DPRK under the steermanship of Kim Jong Il.
    He added that he still recollects with deep emotion the days he had a historic meeting with President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in Pyongyang in 1986.
    He expressed his firm belief that the Korean people would defend socialism from the U.S. moves under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.
    Present there were Rolando Alfonso Borge, head of the ideological department of the C.C., the Communist Party of Cuba, and Pak Tong Chun, DPRK Ambassador to Cuba.

Heightened vigilance against U.S. strategy for world supremacy called for

     Pyongyang, December 11 (KCNA) -- It is necessary to heighten vigilance against the U.S. strategy for world supremacy and "anti-terrorism war" and further intensify the anti-U.S. struggle for independence. This is a master key to ensuring world peace, security and stability and achieving the human cause of independence. This is the conclusion made by Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article analyzing this year characterized as a year in which the U.S. moves to dominate the world by force have reached the extreme level of danger.
    It goes on:
    The U.S. imperialists' greed for world supremacy has not waned but grown stronger and their moves for aggression, war, interference and pressure to satisfy it have not stopped but become evermore undisguised along the track of a new Cold War. Herein lies the reactionary and vicious nature of the U.S. imperialists' moves for domination this year.
    Describing all their actions as those for "peace" and "democracy," the U.S. has claimed that it is engaged in the "anti-terrorism war" for world peace and security.
    The U.S. has ceaselessly fought the "anti-terrorism war" in Afghanistan. Since the U.S. openly declared that it was the aim of the U.S. to topple the Hussein regime, it has sped up the preparations for anti-Iraq war, increasing the number of its aggressor forces stationed around Iraq.
    This is intended to keep other countries from daring stand against the U.S. by demonstrating its military muscle and creating a horror-ridden atmosphere.
    In escalating the "anti-terrorism war" the U.S. sought to show other countries that they will not be safe but will be contained by force of arms if they displease and stand against it.
    It was none other than the U.S. which complicated the situation in different regions of the world including Asia, Africa, Latin-America and the Middle East and the Balkans and threatened peace, security and stability there.
    The U.S. benchmark of all the military measures and moves has been to serve the purpose of "protecting the U.S. interests".
    The U.S. real purpose of its forces' presence in Central Asia was to contain Russia and China and have a grip on oil resources in the region.
    The U.S. imperialists have acted as rogues in utter disregard of the un charter, international law and ethics and morality in order to "protect the U.S. interests".
    Humankind has drawn a serious lesson from the U.S. moves for world supremacy.
    All the countries are called upon to build up strong self-reliant military power by their own efforts and counter any aggressor forces' attacks on their own initiative.
    Another serious lesson is that all the people should clearly see through the real picture and reactionary nature of the U.S. imperialists and wage a staunch anti-U.S. struggle for independence by the concerted efforts.

Annual meeting of Denmark-DPRK Friendship Association held

     Pyongyang, December 11 (KCNA) -- An annual meeting of the Denmark-DPRK Friendship Association took place in Copenhagen on Nov. 27. Anders Kristensen, chairman of the association, in a report called on the friends of Korea in different countries including Denmark to positively support the Korean people's cause of reunification and wage a more vigorous struggle to frustrate the U.S. moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK and provoke a war.
    A solidarity message to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting.

Chicken farm and assorted feed plant rebuilt on modern basis

     Pyongyang, December 11 (KCNA) -- The Ryongsong Chicken Farm and the Maram Assorted Feed Plant in the suburbs of Pyongyang have been rebuilt on a modern basis. Commissioning ceremonies separately took place on Dec. 10.
    Present there were Jo Chang Dok, Vice-Premier of the Cabinet, Sin Il Nam, Vice-Premier and concurrently Chairman of the Capital City Construction Commission of the Cabinet, and other officials concerned.
    Read out at the ceremonies was a message of thanks of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea to the builders who performed labour feats in the projects of rebuilding chicken farms in Pyongyang on a modern basis.
    The message said that these farms are precious wealth of the country which has been created thanks to the popular policy of the WPK that regards it as the supreme principle of its activities to promote the wellbeing of the people.
    The rebuilding of the farm and the plant on a modern basis to meet the requirements of the new century helps increase the supply of meat and eggs to the Pyongyangites.

Symposium held to mark anniversary of Kim Jong Il's work

     Pyongyang, December 11 (KCNA) -- A symposium took place here yesterday to mark the 20th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's work "On Increasing Obedience to Socialist Laws". Present there were Kye Ung Thae, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Choe Yong Rim, prosecutor-general of the central public prosecutor's office, Kim Pyong Ryul, chief justice of the central court, Thae Hyong Chol, President of the Academy of Social Sciences, officials concerned and the participants in the national meeting of judicial workers.
    Kim Jong Il in the work scientifically proved the essence and characteristics of obedience to socialist laws, necessity and law governing the increase of obedience to socialist laws and comprehensively indicated the popular nature and essence of socialist laws and their creative role and mission of serving the people.
    Clarified in the work are the tasks and ways of establishing the revolutionary habit of obeying laws throughout the society on the basis of education in obedience to laws and legal control, the fundamental principles to be steadily held fast to in enhancing the function and role of the committees for guidance in socialist law observance and all other issues arising in their embodiment.
    Speakers said that the idea and theory of Kim Jong Il on obedience to socialist laws made a flawless and comprehensive exposition of the issue of the function and role of laws in the socialist society.
    They noted that it is of weighty importance to thoroughly establish the revolutionary habit of obeying laws throughout the society as required by the developing reality and it is an important task of upholding the army-based policy of the party to increase obedience to socialist laws.

Ancient copper bell discovered

     Pyongyang, December 11 (KCNA) -- A large copper bell dating back to the Koryo period has recently been discovered in Yonthan county township, North Hwanghae Province. It is 83 centimeters high (the 15-centimetre-high hook included) and the diameter of the mouth is 55 centimeters. The hook looks like an open-mouthed dragon with a magic pearl on his right foot.
    Inscribed in the bottom of the bell is a 110-odd-letter explanation of the origin of the bell, its casting date (April 1192) and its weight (150 kilograms).
    The bell was nearly 150 years older than the Yonbok temple bell of Nam gate, Kaesong, which had been believed to be the oldest one dating back to the Koryo period.
    The recently discovered bell, which shows good metal craft and casting skills and gives a detailed explanation about the bell, is regarded as national treasure of weighty significance in studying Buddhism and Buddhist temple bell in the period of Koryo.
    It is on display at the Korean Central History Museum.

Water-ring screw compressors developed

     Pyongyang, December 11 (KCNA) -- Water-ring screw compressors with different capacities have been introduced in the mining industrial sector in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. They, with no air filter and cooling apparatus, are fully equipped with technical conditions to work in any place of pit.
    They, convenient for use, do not need to change accessories for abrasion during the operation.
    The utilization rate of the compressed air reaches over 95 percent. They have no harmful effects on environment.
    The production cost of the compressors is one-sixth of that of other compressors with the same capacities.
    The water-ring screw compressors were developed by experts of hydrodynamics.

Housing construction in DPRK

     Pyongyang, December 11 (KCNA) -- A large number of dwelling houses have been built in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. In recent years, more than 610 villages have been newly built throughout the country.
    Built in North Phyongan Province were more than 9,480 houses for some 12,560 families in two years or more.
    Fifteen villages, each with 60 dwelling houses, made their appearance in South Hwanghae Province.
    Two or three-storied buildings for some 400 families were constructed in Samjiyon county, Ryanggang Province. Every flat has two or three electrically heated living rooms, lock room, kitchen, bathroom, etc.
    Sixty buildings for discharged soldiers' families came into being in Paechon county, South Hwanghae Province, each flat having two or three living rooms, lock room, kitchen and stores, with accessory buildings for domestic animals, ashes and fuel attached.
    Such fully equipped houses were built also in Rason city, Munchon county of Kangwon Province, Phyongsan county of North Hwanghae Province, Sukchon county, South Phyongan Province and many other places of the country.

Seoul junket by U.S. Deputy Secretary of State denounced

     Pyongyang, December 11 (KCNA) -- Different circles in South Korea staged an anti-U.S. struggle on Dec. 10 at the same time against the trip to Seoul by Armitage, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, according to CBS of South Korea. Civic organizations such as the people's action for the revision of the South Korea-U.S. Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) and the solidarity for the return of the U.S. military bases held a rally of citizens in front of Kwanghwamun, Seoul.
    They denounced Armitage's tour of Seoul, strongly demanding the total revision of sofa.
    After the rally the bereaved families of the two girl students killed in cold blood by the U.S. armored car went to the U.S. embassy to convey a letter of protest.
    The reunification solidarity for implementation of the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration and the peace on the Korean Peninsula held an anti-U.S. exhibition of cartoons created by media cartoonists demanding the U.S. Government take a sincere approach towards the revision of SOFA.
    Meanwhile, representatives of the youth and student organizations including the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils and the South Korean Christian Youth Federation published a declaration on the situation demanding that the U.S. military court's verdict of not "guilty" given to the GI killers be declared invalid and they be punished at the South Korean court.

Spokesman for north hq of Pomminryon accuses S. Korean judicial authorities

     Pyongyang, December 11 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the north headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon) issued a statement on Dec. 11 accusing the South Korean judicial authorities of preventing pro-reunification overseas personages from participating in a function organized by the committee to support the south headquarters of Pomminryon. The statement says:
    The committee decided to hold a function called "evening of the committee to support Pomminryon" in Seoul on Dec. 13 and invited those overseas Koreans who have actively aided the Pomminryon.
    But the South Korean judicial authorities refused to allow them to attend the function under the absurd pretext that they might disturb the social order if their entry is permitted.
    This is one more anti-reunification act on the part of the South Korean judicial authorities and, at the same time, an insult to the pro-reunification activists.
    The South Korean judicial authorities desperately block the activities of overseas Koreans for reunification, while keeping mum about the disturbance of social order by GI crimes reported in South Korea almost everyday as evidenced by the murder of girl students that has touched off the nation's bitter indignation.
    Their anti-national, anti-reunification actions can never be justified.
    The successive judicial authorities of South Korea punished many pro-reunification activists on charges of violation of the draconic "Security Law." They have employed every possible means to hamstring national reconciliation, unity and reunification while branding Pomminryon and the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils as "enemy-benefiting organizations" even after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration.
    The South Korean judicial authorities are well advised to face up to the trend of the times and properly judge the will of the Koreans for reunification and behave with discretion.

S. Korean army commits military provocation

     Pyongyang, December 11 (KCNA) -- The South Korean army today illegally infiltrated warships and fishing boats deep into the north side's territorial waters on the West Sea. From 9:00 two warships and five fishing boats of the south side stayed in the north side's territorial waters south of Tongam-ri, Kangryong county, South Hwanghae Province, for hours.
    From 12:22 to 12:57, one escort ship of the South Korean army intruded from waters southwest of Yonphyong chain of islets into the north side's territorial waters to sail around its warships and fishing boats there.
    This provocation perpetrated in the wake of the similar one in November is a prearranged move of the South Korean military authorities to spark one more shocking incident in the West Sea and shift the blame for it on to the north side, under the manipulation of the U.S. imperialists, their masters keen to isolate and stifle the DPRK.
    The South Korean military authorities should not run amuck, mindful that such provocations may bring irrevocable consequences to the inter-Korean dialogue and cooperation.

     pyongyang, 11 de diciembre (atcc) -- segun la radio "cbs" de sudcorea, distintos sectores de la poblacion surcoreana desplegaron a la vez el dia 10 la lucha antiyanqui coincidiendo con la visita a seul del subsecretario del estado norteamericano armitage. este dia la accion nacional por la enmienda del leonino "convenio administrativo" sudcorea-ee.uu., la solidaridad por la restitucion de las bases de las tropas norteamericanas en sudcorea y otras organizaciones civiles tuvieron el mitin en la plaza frente a la puerta kwanghwa en seul.
    ellos demandaron con dinamismo la enmienda global del "convenio administrativo" condenando a la visita de armitage a seul.
    terminado el acto los familiares de las alumnas sin hyo sun y sim mi son asesinadas cruelmente por el carro blindado de las tropas norteamericanas transmitieron la carta de protesta a la embajada de ee.uu..
    el mismo dia la solidaridad de reunificacion por la ejecucion de la declaracion conjunta norte-sur del 15 de junio y la paz de la peninsula "coreana" monto una exhibicion de caricaturas antiyanqui y demando al gobierno norteamericano que tome la postura sincera para la enmienda del dicho convenio.
    por otra parte, los delegados de jovenes estudiantes de la "federacion de consejos generales de estudiantes universitarios de surcorea" (fcgeus), la "federacion de jovenes cristianos de sudcorea" y otros publicaron la declaracion sobre la situacion en que insistieron en la nulidad del juicio de las tropas norteamericanas sobre dichos asesinos y el castigo de estos asesinos en el tribunal surcorano.
