Meeting of activists in movement for title of O Jung Hup's Seventh Regiment of KPA

     Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- A meeting of activists in the movement for the title of O Jung Hup's Seventh Regiment of the Korean People's Army was held here between March 2 and 3. This movement is a mass movement for ideological innovation aimed to firmly protect the headquarters of our revolution, inheriting the anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters' spirit of devotedly defending the leader and a mass onward movement to increase the KPA's combat preparedness and capability in every way in the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance and fortitude.
    Deeply penetrating into the unanimous desire of the KPA servicemen to learn from the example set by the seventh regiment of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army in defending the headquarters at the cost of their lives in the arduous period of the anti-Japanese armed struggle and the requirements for developing the revolutionary armed forces, KPA Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il personally lit the torch to launch the mass movement of a new higher form on January 1, Juche 85 (1996).
    The meeting reviewed the successes and experience gained in the course of conducting the movement in the last period and discussed the tasks to be carried out to train all the servicemen as ranks of human bombs devotedly defending the headquarters of the revolution and standard-bearers and shock brigades leading the people to uphold the army-based policy of the Workers' Party of Korea and thus increase the KPA's combat power in every way.
    Present there were Jo Myong Rok, director of the General Political Department of the KPA, Kim Yong Chun, Chief of its general staff, Kim Il Chol, Minister of the People's Armed Forces, senior officials of the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces, officers, political commissars and servicemen of the KPA units.
    The Central Military Commission of the WPK in a congratulatory message to the participants of the meeting highly praised all the KPA servicemen for their great achievements made in the efforts to more firmly prepare themselves as the army strong in ideology and faith and invincible revolutionary armed forces filled with the spirit of devotedly defending the leader and achieve the progress and the prosperity of the country, true to the WPK's policy on the mass movement.
    The message called on all the servicemen to intensify the movement, true to the noble intention of Kim Jong Il, and bring about a new turn in strengthening the KPA and thus creditably perform their honorable mission and duty as pillars and main agent of the revolution.
    Kim Yong Chun made a report at the meeting.
    He underlined the need to steadily develop in depth the movement to strengthen the KPA into the first-line ranks defending the headquarters of the revolution in the spirit of devotedly defending the leader and the spirit of becoming human bombs and a strong regular revolutionary army of Mt. Paektu whose servicemen have been revolutionized and are filled with socialist patriotism.
    The anti-Japanese guerrilla trait of training should be established throughout the army and all its units and sub-units should carry out Kim Jong Il's orders for training, true to the party's five-point policy of training and the four-point principle of training and thereby emerge O Jung Hup's regiments today with invincible combat capability, he stressed.
    Speakers at the meeting called for advancing dynamically, giving fuller play to the spirit of the army of Mt. Paektu to glorify the 21st century as Kim Jong Il's century under his army-based leadership, holding aloft the banner of devotedly defending the leader.

KCNA refutes S. Korean conservatives' anti-north burlesque

     Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- The General Freedom Federation and other ultra-right conservative organizations in South Korea held "Citizens' Rally for Freedom and Reunification on the Occasion of March 1" in Seoul on March 1 at which they demanded "opposition to the cut down in the U.S. Forces and their redeployment and the north's nuclear development," according to South Korean KBS. The Koreans waged nationwide anti-Japanese resistance calling for the liberation of the country 84 years ago. On this historic day those forces staged the political charade intended to beg for the outside forces' continued presence in South Korea and incite north-south confrontation slandering the fellow countrymen, toeing the U.S. line.
    This cannot but be an insult to the anti-Japanese patriotic forerunners and a challenge to all the Koreans in their efforts to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country by the efforts of the nation.
    Such anti-national, sycophantic and treacherous burlesque staged at a time when the South Koreans' anti-Americanism is running high and there is growing awareness of independence among them with GIs' murder of schoolgirls as a momentum only lashes the Korean nation into a great fury.
    The nation is censuring this rowdyism supporting the U.S. reckless moves as a thrice-cursed crime as this was committed at a time when it is deeply concerned about the very dangerous situation prevailing on the Korean Peninsula where a nuclear war may break out any moment due to the U.S. nuclear racket and large-scale joint military exercises.
    What merits a serious attention is that they are beating the outdated drum of "theory of reunification under a liberal system" to vitiate the hard-won atmosphere of reconciliation, cooperation, unity and reunification between the north and the south of Korea after the publication of the historic June 15 Joint Declaration.
    By "the theory of reunification under a liberal system" they mean, in essence, reunifying the country by armed forces.
    They are crying out for a fratricidal war, repeating the "theory" which had already been thrown into the garbage ground of history.
    This is nothing but last-ditch efforts of those who have lived out their days. On February 10 they had a confab to prepare a rally on March 1 at which they staged an anti-DPRK smear campaign slandering the political system in the DPRK over its "nuclear issue" and "issue of remittance to the north."
    What is intolerable is that the motley crew who gathered there let loose a string of vituperations against the dignified political system in the DPRK, saying that "it is developing nuclear weapons against the fellow countrymen" and "it seeks to break South Korea-U.S. alliance by launching an anti-American propaganda campaign."
    These vituperations are just an echo of the remarks made by the U.S. conservative hardliners, the author of the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula, in a bid to cover up their criminal intention to isolate and stifle the DPRK, launch a nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula and bring a nuclear holocaust to the Korean nation.
    This goes to prove that the ultra-right conservative forces in South Korea are just parroting what their American master says.
    It is the irresistible trend of the times to go in for independence against the U.S.
    The ultra-right conservative forces in South Korea will have to pay a very high price for their pro-U.S. flunkeyism and anti-reunification treacherous acts and will be compelled to dig their own graves in the long run.

40th anniversary of TV Broadcasting Service of DPRK marked

     Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held at the People's Palace of Culture yesterday to mark the 40th anniversary of the TV Broadcasting Service of the DPRK. The TV Broadcasting Service was established on March 3, Juche 52 (1963).
    Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea Jong Ha Chol read out a congratulatory message from the WPK Central Committee on the occasion at the meeting.
    The message highly praised the staff of the service for having rendered great services for firmly protecting our idea, system and cause and carrying out the revolutionary cause of Juche over the last 40 years.
    It expressed firm belief that its staff would effectively use the party-provided pens, mikes and cameras as weapons of the revolution under any circumstances, true to the army-based leadership of Kim Jong Il, and make the proud and legitimate voices of socialist Korea more loudly resound through the whole world and thus live up to the profound trust and expectation of the party with loyalty.

Rodong Sinmun on March 1 National Meeting in Seoul

     Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- A national meeting jointly held by the north and the south to mark the anniversary of the March 1 Movement, a nation-wide anti-Japanese patriotic resistance, was an eruption of the common desire of all the Koreans to achieve independence, peace and reunification with the concerted efforts of the nation in the spirit of the March 1 Movement. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed commentary.
    Under the present situation in which the U.S. imperialists are running amuck to hurt our nation, the March 1 spirit and bid for sovereignty and independence against the outside forces should be intensified, the commentary points out, and goes on:
    The March 1 National Meeting reaffirmed that unanimous is the desire of all the Koreans in the north and the south to achieve independence and reunification, the life and soul of the nation, with the joint efforts and struggle of the nation.
    Speeches of representatives from the north and the south and the March 1 national declaration adopted at the meeting stressed that the spirit of national independence is the patriotic spirit that our nation should carry forward generation after generation.
    At gatherings and rituals attendants expressed their will to pool efforts of our nation itself in the struggle for independence against outside forces.
    At a time when a black cloud of a nuclear war is hanging over the head of the nation owing to the U.S. vicious high-handed and arbitrary practices, it is right and natural to all intents and purposes that our fellow countrymen jointly held the March 1 National Meeting and demonstrated their strong will to defend the security and dignity of the nation and achieve independent reunification with united efforts.
    National independence against outside force is the national task of the Koreans all the time. Herein lie the security, dignity and reunification of the nation.
    It is the spirit and patriotic tradition of our nation that all the fellow countrymen rose up in the patriotic struggle against the outside forces whenever the nation's destiny was endangered by outside forces. It was proved again by the March 1 National Meeting.

Minju Joson on "Foal Eagle" exercise

     Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- The danger of armed conflict is growing owing to the "Foal Eagle" exercise which will continue for nearly one month, involving over 200,000-strong forces including the U.S. troops stationed in South Korea, U.S. reinforcements from overseas, and the South Korean army as well as latest military equipment. Minju Joson today says this in a signed commentary.
    The "Foal Eagle" exercise, which begins today, is a war rehearsal to invade the north to all intents and purposes. The U.S. imperialists' launching of the exercise is an open challenge to the Korean nation and the world peace-loving people the commentary says, and goes on:
    No one can vouch that the U.S. imperialists will not make a preemptive attack on the DPRK while launching the exercise involving huge forces enough to go to war.
    It is as clear as noonday that in case the "Foal Eagle" exercise leads to a war against the DPRK a nuclear war breaks out and all the Korean people in the north and the south can not escape nuclear holocaust. At this critical juncture the entire Korean nation in the north and the south and abroad should turn out in the anti-U.S., anti-war and anti-nuclear struggle to save the destiny of the country and the nation from the crisis. The South Korean warlike forces should stop at once their treacherous moves to have recourse to the outside forces to make a showdown with the fellow countrymen, mindful that joining in the U.S. moves to provoke a war against the north is an unpardonable crime of inflicting nuclear disaster upon the nation.
    It is a miscalculation for the U.S. imperialists to try to invade the north with the exercise as a momentum.
    The U.S. imperialists and the South Korean warhawks should stop the "Foal Eagle" exercise at once, mindful of the consequences to be entailed by their moves to provoke a war against the north.

Agrarian Reform Law

     Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- March 5 is the 57th anniversary of the Law on Agrarian Reform in Korea. When Korea was liberated in August Juche 34 (1945), 80 percent of the country's population was peasants.
    In the northern half of the country the landlords, who accounted for 4 percent of all the farmhouses, possessed 58.2 percent of the arable land.
    President Kim Il Sung, basing himself on the analysis of the situation, set the agrarian reform as the primary task and wisely guided the efforts for its fulfillment.
    He visited Taedong county, South Phyongan Province, and other farm villages, discussed the situation of rural communities with peasants and learned about what they ardently wished with regard to land.
    He went forward with preparations for agrarian reform under the slogan "land to the tillers" and promulgated "Law on Agrarian Reform in North Korea" in March 1946.
    The enactment of law, which gives a correct solution to the agrarian issue to be settled in the stage of anti-imperialist, anti-feudal democratic revolution, was aimed at liquidating the feudal landownership and freeing the peasants from feudal exploitation.
    On the basic principles of agrarian reform, some 1,000,300 hectares of land were confiscated without compensation and distributed to landless and land poor peasants free of charge in a short span of less than one month.
    With the agrarian reform carried out, the peasants became masters of new Korea and owners of land and realized their long-cherished desire to do farming on their own land.
    The Korean people celebrate the anniversary every year, recollecting the president's undying feats for the agrarian reform.

Kimchi vacuum packer developed

     Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- The institute of foodstuffs under the light industrial branch of the Academy of Sciences has developed a Kimchi vacuum packer. It wraps up 50-60 packages of various kinds of Kimchi per hour with two plastic sheets of different kinds under 100 KPA. Each package contains 1-3 kilograms of Kimchi.
    The packed Kimchi can be kept in a refrigerator in the temperature of zero to five degrees c and for a week in 20-30 degrees c.
    Kimchi is one of the major Korean side dishes.
    Over 60 percent of vegetables, particularly more than 80 percent of autumn cabbages, produced in Korea every year is used to make Kimchi.
    Many efforts have been directed to the production of Kimchi in an industrial way in the country.
    The newly developed packer is easy to operate and low in the production cost and power consumption.

Shameless impostors' remarks blasted

     Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- U.S. President Bush said in an official speech on national policy that "North Korea was deceiving the world and developing nuclear weapons and impaired its system, describing it as a "lawless regime". Minju Joson today says in a signed commentary that his remarks are a sophism of a political illiterate and a shameless impostor who has dull senses of the times.
    The Bush clan's allegation that the DPRK system is a "lawless regime" is a brigandish logic.
    The most lawless regime in the world is none other than Bush's regime which is pursuing unilateralism, violating international laws and commitments in disarmament, environment, human rights and other sectors.
    It is the United States that is giving a great fear of nuke to humankind.
    The United States is not in a position of clamouring about "development of nuclear weapons" to deceive the world and "creation of fear".
    The American-style standard of describing those countries different from the U.S. system as "lawless regime" does not go down with anyone.
    The socialist system of the DPRK is the most advantageous political system in the world that reflects the desire and demands of the peace-loving Korean people and was chosen by themselves.
    The United States would be well advised to ponder over the consequences of its brigandish logic against the DPRK.

U.S. urged to conclude non-aggression treaty with DPRK

     Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- A meeting was sponsored by the Mexican Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification in Mexico on Feb. 20, denouncing the U.S. nuclear racket and supporting the Korean people's struggle. Speeches were made at the meeting.
    The meeting adopted a joint statement of the Mexican Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification, the Lazaro Cardenas Trade Unions Front of Mexico, the Mexican Peace Movement, the Mexican Fellowship Union to Honor the Memory of President Kim Il Sung, the Mexican Group for the Study of the Juche Idea and the Mexico-Korea Friendship Association.
    The statement lashed out at the U.S., the very one who spawned the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula and wantonly violated the DPRK-U.S. Agreed Framework, for deceiving the international community by claiming that the DPRK threatens the world.
    It urged the U.S. to conclude a non-aggression treaty with the DPRK and stop hindering inter-Korean dialogue, so that Korea may be reunified as early as possible.
    It expressed support to the Korean people in their struggle to defend the sovereignty of the country and achieve national reunification.

U.S. hit for falsifying truth

     Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- U.S. officials are spreading the misinformation that the DPRK's just self-defensive steps taken as regards the showdown with the U.S. were just aimed to "preserve its system" and "get economic reward" in a bid to twist the nature of the situation and build up a world public opinion. Such attempt is intended to avoid the DPRK's proposal for concluding a non-aggression treaty through DPRK-U.S. direct dialogue and negotiations, the only basic solution to the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula, and justify its unilateral, unrealistic and wrong assertion that "North Korea should scrap its nuclear program before dialogue."
    U.S. Secretary of State Powell, when asked by CNN why the U.S. finds it so difficult to have a direct dialogue with the DPRK at a press conference on Feb. 24, cited the adoption of the 1994 DPRK-U.S. Agreed Framework and the publication of the 2000 DPRK-U.S. Joint Statement as examples.
    He asserted that the DPRK-U.S. direct dialogue resulted in adopting the AF and publishing the joint statement, in which the U.S. gave the DPRK a number of "assurances" and that the U.S. has honored the agreement but North Korea pursued its nuclear development in violation of it and, accordingly, the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula should be settled through "multi-lateral dialogue".
    Such assertion grossly falsified the historical fact.
    As the DPRK has already clarified more than once, it is none other than the U.S. that obstructed the implementation of the AF from the outset in breach of its spirit and pushed it to collapse.
    The U.S. is still talking about "assurances" but it is a well known fact that such formal assurances as the provision of light water reactors, the normalization of political and economic ties, non-use of nuclear weapons and a halt to the nuclear threat, given by the AF and the joint statement, proved to be empty talks in the long run.
    The U.S. assertion that it cannot respond to the DPRK-U.S. direct talks for the peaceful settlement of the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula as it is "reward" for the DPRK is nonsensical.
    The U.S. should not forget before talking about any "assurances" or "reward" that if the U.S. does not try to stifle the DPRK by military force, the DPRK can live as well as it wishes on its own efforts.
    The political system in the DPRK is the socialist system centred on the popular masses chosen by its people themselves and the system based on single hearted unity which guarantees high political stability.
    Its independent national economy has a solid foundation and potentials.
    This system is so solid that it cannot be destabilized or toppled in any temporary difficulties and there is no need for the DPRK to threaten or blackmail anyone to "get its system guaranteed" or receive any "economic reward".
    The U.S. is spreading a false rumor, dodging the DPRK's proposal for concluding a non-aggression treaty in a bid to evade its direct responsibility for the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula, only to reveal its shamelessness and cowardice.
    If the U.S. has a true political will to seek a peaceful settlement of the nuclear issue, it should not falsify the truth but respond to the DPRK-U.S. negotiations from an honest and sincere stand.

U.S. sinister plot for development of nukes of next generation flailed

     Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- The United States is contemplating a secret meeting for the development of nuclear weapons of the next generation in august this year, according to a foreign press report. It will discuss at length the issue of putting into practice the "Bush doctrine" that calls for U.S. preemptive nuclear strikes at the "rogue states," the report added.
    Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun today says this only goes to clearly indicate how reckless the Bush administration., the inveterate enemy of humankind and the largest nuclear criminal in the world, is getting in its moves to bring the world a nuclear disaster in order to realize its wild ambition for domination.

    As part of the bush administration's strategy for "preemptive attack" this plan is aimed to threaten and attack anti-imperialist independent countries with nukes and realize its wild ambition for world supremacy.
    The Bush administration's loudmouthed strategy for "preemptive strike," i.e. a strategy for "preemptive strike-defensive intervention" that calls for containing those countries the U.S. defined as the "enemy" by mounting preemptive nuclear attacks on them anytime without any prior warning requires new type nuclear weapons capable of meeting different circumstances and topographic conditions.
    The secret meeting is aimed to discuss specific issues arising in the development of such nuclear weapons and take necessary measures.
    The U.S. much publicized "nuclear threat from North Korea" , "suspected development of nuclear weapons in Iran" and the like are nothing but subterfuges to invent pretexts for preemptive nuclear strikes.
    The U.S. moves to justify its criminal nuclear policy under the pretext of someone's "nuclear threat" can never succeed as they can convince no one. The U.S. is well advised to drop its dangerous nuclear program before pulling up the DPRK over its "nuclear suspicion".
