U.S. intention to launch nuclear war in Korea under fire

     Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- The Foal Eagle joint military exercise launched by the U.S. and South Korean bellicose forces came to an end on Wednesday. Involved in the Foal Eagle and the Rsoi war exercises are hundreds of thousands of troops including the U.S. Forces present in South Korea, reinforcements from the U.S. mainland and the South Korean forces, nuclear attack means of various types of the three services and ultra-modern war hardware huge enough to wage a war.
    Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary dismisses this madcap sabre-rattling as a very dangerous test war and a preliminary war to mount a preemptive nuclear attack on the DPRK.
    It goes on:
    The U.S. is only paying lip-service to the "peaceful settlement" of the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula. It is, in fact, turning its back on the dialogue, paying no heed to the demand of the international community for the settlement of the nuclear issue through the direct talks between the DPRK and the U.S.
    It is engrossed in adventurous war exercises, aggravating the nuclear crisis with each passing day.
    The U.S. talks that it has no intention to invade the DPRK and its call for a diplomatic solution to the nuclear issue are nothing but hypocrisy and delaying tactics and a fig-leaf to cover up its attempt to invade the DPRK.
    It goes without saying that the U.S. seeks to provoke a war of aggression against the DPRK under the pretext of its nuclear issue.
    The U.S. keen to launch a nuclear war against the DPRK, obsessed by its ambition to dominate the world, is the kingpin of state-sponsored terrorism and evil and the chieftain of aggression.
    A nuclear war in Korea is unavoidable as long as the U.S. imperialists escalate their military actions for aggression to stifle the DPRK by force.

Japan urged to drop its anti-DPRK hostile policy

     Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- A DPRK delegate addressing the 59th meeting of the U.N. commission on human rights during its discussion of its agenda item 6 "racial discrimination" on March 25 said that Japan pursued the harshest policy of national discrimination and obliteration in the world history of colonialism, adding that this crime against humanity can never be covered or erased. The Korean people had suffered untold hardships for over four decades of Japan's military occupation since early in the 20th century, he stressed, and went on: In this period the Korean people were deprived of their right to enjoy their national culture and tradition and even their names and were not allowed to use their mother tongue.
    At least 8.4 million Koreans were pressganged into the army or forced to do slave labor and more than a million of them were killed in cold blood.
    At least 200,000 Korean women were forced to provide sex to the imperial Japanese army as "comfort women."
    It is a lesson taught by history that such country as Japan which tries to justify its serious human rights abuses, shunning the settlement of its past, is bound to repeat such crime any time.
    Japan should give up its anachronistic hostile policy toward the DPRK, a signatory to the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration, and take actions to fulfil its promise and put an apology made to the Korean people into practice.

Kim Jong Il sends wreath to bier of Ryu Chun Ok

     Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il yesterday sent a wreath to the bier of Ryu Chun Ok, deputy to the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, winner of Kim Il Sung Order, Twice Woman Labour Hero and manager of the Ryokpho stock-farm, expressing deep condolence over her death.

U.S.-S. Korea joint military exercises flailed worldwide

     Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- At least 200 media, political parties and organizations and many figures of different social standings in the world strongly condemned the U.S-South Korea joint military exercises staged in South Korea, holding that they were chiefly aimed to ignite the second Korean war. The Australian newspaper Canberra Times and AFP said that those operations were planned nine months ago and the U.S. and South Korea decided to stage the exercises in order to show that they remain alert on the Korean Peninsula despite the U.S. Iraqi war.
    Radio Voice of Russia commented the deployment of more U.S. Forces on the Korean Peninsula is an indication that such military operation as the one against Iraq can be staged on the peninsula.
    The U.S. newspapers Worker and Worker's World, the Malaysian newspaper New Straits Times, the Mexican newspaper Reforma, the Czech newspaper Halo Noviny and many other newspapers observed that the involvement of large-size bombers and stealth fighters of the U.S. air force in the exercises suggests that they can easily go over to an actual war operation anytime as it is an open warning to the DPRK.
    The Romanian newspaper Curierul National said Bush's remark that if diplomatic efforts to solve the crisis fail during the joint military exercises, the U.S. may turn to a military option proves that it is going to steadily escalate tensions on the peninsula by staging military exercises in a bid to destroy socialism in the DPRK.
    The exercises were hit as criminal and provocative manoeuvres to mount a preemptive nuclear attack on the DPRK and an extension of the team spirit joint military exercise by many political parties, organizations and personages of the world. They included the Socialist Unionist Party of Syria, the Lebanese Communist Party, the Genuine Lumumbist Patriotic Party of Democratic Congo, the Palestine National Liberation Movement (FATAH), the British Association for Friendship with Korea, the Norway-Korea Friendship Society, the International Liaison Committee for Reunification and Peace in Korea, the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist-Leninist), the secretary general of the Arabic Association for Arts, Culture and Information of Egypt, the chairman of the Swiss Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification and the chairman of the Peruvian Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea.

October 5 Automation Instrument Factory

     Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- The October 5 Automation Instrument Factory of Korea is situated in Phyongchon district, Pyongyang. It produces more than 600 kinds of control panels and boards, power distributors and electrical appliances.
    When it started operation in March 1953, the factory was able to repair only small motors and transformers. But now it has turned into a comprehensive electrical and automation instrument producer with scores of branch factories, workshops and several thousand pieces of equipment.
    The number of the factory's technicians has increased 129.2 times and its gross industrial output value 36.7 times the figures 50 years ago.
    In recent years when the economic situation of the country was very serious, the factory made a large number of wind-driven generators and small hydroelectric generators, contributing to the power production of the country.
    The products of the factory are greatly wanted in economic sectors.
    The factory has its own college of technology and school for skilled workers.

Songun politics guarantees nation's dignity, sovereignty

     Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has defended the dignity and sovereignty of the nation, countering the U.S. imperialists' high-handed practice and arbitrariness with the Songun politics. Availing themselves of the post-cold war imbalance of power in the world, they have tried hard for world supremacy, wantonly violating the sovereignty of other nations.
    Without a strong military power, can any country neither safeguard its dignity and sovereignty nor achieve development and prosperity.
    In the 1990s' the DPRK successfully defended the destiny of the nation and socialism with the Songun politics, unyielding to the imperialist coalition's persistent efforts to isolate and stifle the country and overcoming unprecedented difficulties.
    The Workers' Party of Korea has dynamically accelerated the revolution and construction with the army as the mainstay and driving force of the revolution. Thanks to this politics, the revolutionary spirit of soldiers has been created, the military power strengthened considerably on the basis of the self-supporting defence industry and the whole of the country turned into an unconquerable fortress.
    In January when the U.S. imperialists were threatening the supreme interests of the DPRK under the pretext of the "nuclear issue", the DPRK government took a just measure to withdraw from the nuclear non-proliferation treaty to defend the sovereignty, existence and dignity of the country and the nation.
    The bold decision was also a product of the Songun politics.
    The Korean army and people will never abandon their choice of the Songun politics but fight out the U.S. imperialists and their allies to defend the peace and security of the country.

U.S. military moves around Korean Peninsula flailed

     Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- The U.S. military authorities let loose a spate of sophism that the joint war maneuvers staged in South Korea under the simulated conditions of a preemptive nuclear attack on the DPRK were aimed to maintain the status quo, were annual ones planned before and had nothing to do with the nuclear issue of North Korea, a clumsy pretext to cover up their aggressive nature and danger. But the U.S. disturbing military moves in and around the Korean Peninsula are a direct product of their strategy to invade the DPRK. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article. It goes on:
    It is the invariable ambition of the U.S. imperialists to put the whole of Korea under their control and, furthermore, dominate Asia and the rest of the world. They seek to test their unilateral and arbitrary policy based on strength on the DPRK after singling it out as "no. 1 enemy", "part of an axis of evil" and their target of a preemptive nuclear attack in the new century.
    No one can vouch that a war will not break out on the Korean Peninsula where their military moves targeted against the DPRK are going in full gear. They are going to attain their criminal goal through undisguised military actions as their political and diplomatic pressure on the DPRK and moves to suffocate it economically have proved futile.
    The Iraqi war started by the U.S. imperialists suggests that they, the worst hooligans in the world, may launch a larger war of aggression against the DPRK any time as they attacked a legitimate sovereign state at random, ignoring the United Nations and international law.
    But they are mistaken. They should drop their pipedream that their war policy would bring any success in Korea as it did in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Greetings to Senegalese President

     Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, President of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, sent a message of greetings to Abodulaye Wade, President of Senegal, on April 1 on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of Independence of his country. Wholeheartedly wishing him and his people greater success in the work for national prosperity and development of the country, Kim expressed the belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would continue to develop favorably.

Kim Jong Il inspects Kim Hyong Jik Military Medical University

     Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) - General Secretary Kim Jong il Thursday inspected Kim Hyong Jik Military Medical University of the KPA. He was accompanied by Kim Yong Chun, Chief of the General Staff of the KPA, Kim Il Chol, Minister of the People's Armed Forces, and KPA generals Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong.
    After looking round the monument to the on-the-spot instructions given by President Kim Il Sung and the room for the education in the revolutionary history, he said that the university has been able to cover a proud path shining with victory and feats and creditably perform its honorable duty thanks to the president's wise leadership and meticulous care.
    He learned in detail about the education at the university, looking round the military medical science institute, the exhibition of scientific achievements, the surgical faculty and other educational facilities for a long time.
    He appreciated the efforts made by the teaching staff of the university, noting that in hearty response to the party's policy of developing the Juche-oriented military medical science, they have made tenacious endeavors to produce many competent medical workers including academicians, professors and doctors and achieve spectacular progress in scientific researches.
    Then he dropped in at a lecture room where he inspected a lecture in field surgery and learned about details ranging from study tools for students to their understanding of what was taught. U.S. not qualified to talk about human rights

     Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK in a statement issued on April 3 accused the United States of pulling up the DPRK over its human rights issue. He said the U.S. with the poorest human rights record is not qualified to talk about human rights.
    Recalling that the U.S. in an "annual report on human rights" released on March 31 slandered the DPRK behaving as if it were a "human rights judge," he continued:
    Human rights precisely mean national sovereign rights.
    The accusation made by the U.S. against the DPRK over its human rights issue is nothing but a ridiculous attempt to tarnish the international image of the DPRK by adding the "human rights issue" to the "nuclear issue" and increase its pressure upon the DPRK in a bid to infringe upon its sovereign rights.
    The U.S. is beset with serious human rights abuses such as racial discrimination, religious dispute and savage torture in prisons, etc.
    Even at the time when the "annual report on human rights" was issued in Washington the U.S. Forces used such weapons of mass destruction as depleted uranium bombs and cluster bombs in Iraq, killing hundreds of innocent civilians at a time. This mass killing is still going on.
    The world public is now strongly condemning this barbarism as a most serious violation of human rights.
    The report, however, did not mention such most serious human rights abuses as gravely infringing upon the sovereignty of a country, ignoring the un and wantonly violating international law.
    It is very strange for the U.S. to not say anything about this genocide while claiming to deal with human rights issues.
    As the Iraqi war shows, the U.S. is the most serious violator of human rights in our times and it is, therefore, not qualified to talk about human rights.
    The U.S. efforts to destroy our socialism are as foolish as trying to sweep sea with a broom.
