Pyongyang, May 3 (KCNA) -- People of different strata in South Korea reportedly launched a struggle in Seoul on April 27 in demand of the release of prisoners of conscience and the lifting of the police search for wanted members of the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon).
A press conference was called in front of the main gate of Yonsei University to announce a report on activities of the marchers' group for prisoners of conscience and demand the release of Ri Sok Gi, a prisoner of conscience, and the lifting of the police search for wanted members of Hanchongryon.
At the end of the conference, the participants held a meeting welcoming the marchers' group and demanding the release of Ri Sok Gi and the lifting of the police search for wanted members of Hanchongryon.

Anniversary of three principles of national reunification marked
Pyongyang, May 3 (KCNA) -- On May 3, Juche 61 (1972) President Kim Il Sung clarified the three principles of national reunification when meeting a delegate of the south side to the north-south high-level political talks who was staying here for the talks.
Rodong Sinmun today dedicates a signed article to this day.
The clarification of the three principles of national reunification marked a historic event as they made it possible for the Korean nation's reunification movement to advance along the road indicated by correct ideological and theoretical guidelines and emerge victorious, the article says, and continues:
The national reunification is the Korean nation's own issue related to its sovereignty and, therefore, it should be responsible for reunifying the country by its own efforts to meet its independent requirement and will.
The principle of peaceful reunification which calls for reunifying the country in a peaceful way without a recourse to force indicated a fundamental way of solving the country's reunification issue as required by the whole Korean nation.
There is no ground for the Koreans to fight each other over the reunification issue. The differing ideas and systems existing in the north and the south can never be a source of a war. The cause of national reunification is, in essence, one of relinking the severed blood ties of the nation and achieving national unity.
Only when the north and the south work together to reunify the country by their concerted efforts, placing the common denominators and common interests of the nation above anything else, can they achieve national reunification irrespective of idea and system.
The three principles of national reunification serve as a great reunification programme common to the nation as they indicate the way of solving the reunification issue most smoothly and reasonably according to the Korean nation's unanimous wish and will for reunification.

Japan assailed for evading its responsibility for its past crimes
Pyongyang, May 2 (KCNA) -- Shotaro Oshima, ambassador of the Japanese mission in Geneva, referring to the issue of "violence against women" at the 59th meeting of the un commission on human rights, told the sheer lie that Japan has "fulfilled its legal responsibility" for its past crimes including the issue of "comfort women for the Japanese army". And he went to the lengths of beautifying Japan's past crimes by justifying the distortion of its history textbooks.
In this regard Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary says:
Japan is working hard to flee from the responsibility for its past crimes at any cost instead of honestly admitting and compensating for them even in the new century. This once again lays bare the brazen-faced nature and moral vulgarity peculiar to Japan before the international community.
The human history records many wars. But it is only the Japanese imperialist aggression troops, which committed most hideous crimes against humanity by forcing a large number of women into sexual slavery even in battlefields.
The Japanese government, however, is employing all sorts of sleight of hand to evade its responsibility and compensation for Japan's past crimes though more than half a century has passed since its defeat.
The Japanese ruling quarters are trying hard to abdicate Japan's responsibility for sexual slavery, while doling out a paltry amount of "solatium" to survivors of "comfort women" for the imperial Japanese army from the "civilian fund" created in 1995.
No one can falsify history and truth.
The Japanese reactionaries' persistent efforts to flee from the responsibility to redress Japan's past crimes with a wrong view on history would only increase the bitterness of the Korean people and other people of the world toward Japan.
The Korean people will surely force Japan to pay in the new century for the crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists in the last century.
S. Korean students protest dispatch of troops to Iraqi war
Pyongyang, May 2 (KCNA) -- Students in South Korea reportedly staged a surprise demonstration in front of the "Defence Ministry" building in Ryongsan, Seoul, on April 30 in protest against the authorities' dispatch of troops to the Iraqi war.

The protestors scattered handbills reading "we are opposed to the war killing even civilians for the profit of capitalists and the dispatch of troops to it."
KPA birthday celebrated abroad
Pyongyang, May 2 (KCNA) -- Meetings, round-table talks, book and photo exhibitions and film shows were organized in Guinea, Switzerland, Egypt, Singapore and Peru between April 23 and 25 to celebrate the 71st birthday of the heroic Korean People's Army (KPA).
At a meeting, the army commander of the Guinean armed forces referred to the fact that President Kim Il Sung founded the KPA and developed it into revolutionary armed forces.
Today under the Songun leadership of supreme commander Kim Jong Il, the KPA has been built up as steel-like ranks equipped with powerful offensive and defensive means and as invincible armed forces capable of annihilating any aggressors at one stroke, he said.
The chairman of the Swiss Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification, at a meeting, highly praised Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il for their feats performed in army building, saying:
In the past century the KPA won the just wars against the U.S. and the Japanese imperialists under the guidance of Kim Il Sung and is now reliably defending the country, true to the Songun policy of Kim Jong Il.
The United States should clearly know that the KPA is a matchlessly strong army led by the illustrious commander and the DPRK is not Iraq, he said.
After seeing Korean films "the Korean People's Army, steel-like ranks" and "70th birthday of the heroic Korean People's Army", the Secretary General of the Peruvian Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea and other personages said:
The KPA is a strong army fully prepared politically and ideologically and in military technique. No army in the world can match the KPA commanded by Kim Jong Il. The DPRK remains impervious to the U.S. moves to isolate and stifle it.
A meeting in Switzerland adopted a congratulatory message to Kim Jong Il.
