Kim Jong Il inspects factory under KPA unit

     Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) - General Secretary Kim Jong Il Monday inspected a factory under KPA unit 597. Cccompanying him were chief of the KPA general staff Kim Yong Chun, KPA generals Ri Myong Su, Kim Yun Sim, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and first vice department directors of the WPK Central Committee Ri Yong Chol and Jang Song Thaek.
    Kim Jong Il first looked round the monument to President Kim Il Sung's on-site guidance to the factory and a room for the education in the revolutionary history.
    He recalled with deep emotion the unforgettable days when the president personally chose the site of the factory and saw to it that it was built into a modern ordnance factory, looking at historical relics and materials which bear witness to his undying leadership exploits.
    Saying that the factory made leaping progress under the meticulous guidance and care of the president, he said that the workers of the factory should always enshrine his solicitude deep in their hearts.
    Looking round several places of the factory, he learned in detail about its technical equipment and production performance.
    He highly praised their feats, noting its workers have made signal achievements in production and construction in the past in the revolutionary spirit of soldiers and in the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance, thus greatly contributing to strengthening the revolutionary armed forces.
    He met labor innovators and had a warm talk with them, inquiring about details of their work and life.
    Learning that they have advanced many invention proposals with all their wisdom and energy, working at the factory for years, he highly praised their patriotic devotion, noting with great joy that they have done a lot in the same indomitable revolutionary spirit as displayed by guerrillas in the armory in the period of the anti-Japanese struggle.
    Noting that the army and the people are devoting themselves with loyalty on every front, deeply aware of their sacred mission of the times--defence of the country represents the most vivid expression of patriotism--, he said that our country is impregnable as there are invincible revolutionary ranks who are all out to defend socialism.
    He then set forth important tasks which would serve as guidelines in managing and operating the factory.
    He had a photograph taken with workers of the factory, expressing expectation and belief that its workers would remain boundlessly faithful to the WPK's cause of army building.

Public bonds on sale

     Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- The sale of people's life bonds started on May 1 in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The public bonds have been issued according to the law adopted at the sixth session of the 10th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK held on March 26.
    All the people of the country, conscious that the issue of public bonds is an expression of the popular politics pursued by the Workers' Party of Korea, are taking an active part in buying bonds.
    According to the data available at the central bank, public bonds worth billions of won were sold on May 2 alone in the country.

Kim Jong Il enjoys light comedy

     Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) - General Secretary Kim Jong Il together with servicemen enjoyed a light comedy "Pass Chol" performed by artistes of the April 25 Film Studio of the KPA. Among the audience were chief of the general staff of the KPA Kim Yong Chun, KPA generals Ri Myong Su, Kim Yun Sim, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong, secretaries of the WPK Central Committee Kim Ki Nam and Kim Yong Sun and first vice department directors of the WPK Central Committee Ri Yong Chol and Jang Song Thaek.
    Through the light comedy spiced with scenes making one laugh and bringing tears to one's eyes, the creators and artistes of the studio truthfully represented the great vitality of the Songun leadership of the WPK and the philosophical truth that one can live only when one remains true to the WPK's Songun leadership, an all-powerful treasured sword.
    At the end of the performance, Kim Jong Il acknowledged the enthusiastic cheers of the performers and audience and congratulated the artistes on their successful performance.

Juche idea study group formed in Guinea

     Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- An inaugural ceremony of the Juche idea study group of the room for coordinating the forestry area of N'zerekore prefecture, Guinea was held in the prefecture on April 10. At the inaugural ceremony the chairman of the N'zerekore Prefectural Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea in a speech said that the Juche idea founded by President Kim Il Sung is the world outlook which indicates the way for genuine freedom and peace to the people of all the countries.
    Thanks to the Songun policy, a political mode set forth by Kim Jong Il on the basis of the Juche idea, the moves of the U.S. imperialists and their followers to isolate and stifle the DPRK were smashed and socialist Korea was defended, he said, and went on:

     Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- The greatness of Kim Jong Il was highly praised by the South Korean press. News media introduced his revolutionary activities and personality as a great man.
    Leading newspapers and magazines carried articles on his revolutionary activities and photos showing his on-site guidance to units of the Korean People's Army and different sectors of the national economy and his meeting with South Korean personages and delegations of different countries.

Concerted efforts of Korean nation called for

     Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- The solidarity for implementing the south-north joint declaration on April 30 released an appeal calling on the whole Korean nation to unite as one to make the June 15 Grand National Festival for Reunification successful, according to a news report. The 70 million fellow countrymen in the south, the north and overseas should join their efforts to implement to the letter the agreements reached at the 10th inter-Korean ministerial talks in the basic spirit of the joint declaration and successfully hold the June 15 festival, the appeal said, and continued: through the festival the whole Korean nation should resolutely strengthen the national cooperation, demonstrate to the world its desire for independence and peace and pave the way for smashing the u.s. moves for a war and defending peace by its concerted efforts.
    In order to make the grand national reunification festival a grand festival of the whole nation, the camp of the movement for the nation, democracy and reunification should realize broad-based solidarity and alliance with the people from all walks of life and minutely and dynamically organize work and functions for giving momentum to the enthusiasm for reunification in the south.
    The appeal called for holding a memorial service for the two schoolgirls, who were killed by a U.S. armored car, on June 13 in close combination with the festival.

Action slogan put up in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- Co-chiefs of the headquarters of the movement against the U.S. and war and for earlier conclusion of non-aggression treaty between North Korea and the U.S. reportedly put up an action slogan "Let us bring earlier the national reunification by the efforts of the Korean nation under the uplifted banner of the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration" on May 2. The slogan called for successfully holding the June 15 Grand National Festival for Reunification to realize national cooperation and bring earlier independent reunification.
    Underscoring the need to achieve independence and peace through a nationwide struggle against the U.S. and war under the banner of the June 15 joint declaration, the slogan called for smashing the U.S. moves for a war on the Korean Peninsula and driving the U.S. troops out of South Korea.
    The slogan also called upon the workers, peasants, youth and students to take the lead in launching an all-people anti-U.S., anti-war struggle, rejecting the slavish South Korea-U.S. "cooperation" and regaining the sovereignty of the country.

Correct English spelling of Country called for in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- The South Korean newspaper Hankuk Ilbo May 3 called for restoring the English spelling of "Corea" to eliminate the leftover of the Japanese colonial rule. The daily in an article titled "noteworthy movement for regaining the name of 'Corea'" recalled the fact that there is an unabated movement to change the English spelling of Korea into "Corea."
    According to the daily, this issue was discussed at a seminar held by the reunification solidarity for the implementation of the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration and peace on the Korean Peninsula and an academic circle, civic and social organizations in South Korea are joining in the discussion.
    Prof. So Kwang Il at Hansin University said his study of historical data and the situation in the neighbouring countries from the 1200s to the 1800s including the English name of the country used in Marco Polo's information about the east and Habel's notes on drifting and in various diplomatic and trade treaties prompted him to come to the conclusion that the English name of the country was "Corea".
    This was changed into "Korea" in all documents including official gazettes of the "Government-General" from 1906 when the "Residency-General" was set up after Japan's occupation of Korea.
    Such action taken by the Japanese imperialists was shameless, judging from the results of the study conducted by scholars in the south and the north and their assertions, noted the daily.

     Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- Chongsin drink has been developed by the institute of children's nutrition under the academy of medical science of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. It is made of natural substances extracted from armillaria, lentinus edodes, roots of broad bellflowers, radish, yam, etc.
    The health drink contains protein, amino acid, dextrin, fructose, dextrose, vitamin b1, b2, c and pp, flavonoid glucoside, polysaccharide and substances necessary to activate enzymes.
    It is nontoxic and has no harmful effect. It improves metabolism, immunity and resistance to oxidation, cancers and aging.
    In particular, it is more efficacious for those above 40 who have troubles of active oxygen in their bodies caused by gradual loss of the enzymatic function.

Spokesman for DPRK Foreign Ministry on impounding of cargo ship "Pongsu"

     Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea today gave the following answer to a question put by KCNA as regards the disturbing moves to use its cargo ship "Pongsu" impounded in Australia for a smear campaign against it: The United States and Australia are now engrossed in the false propaganda that the Workers' Party of Korea and the government of the DPRK were involved in the drug smuggling which occurred in Australia.
    U.S. State Secretary Powell, addressing the senate foreign relations committee on April 30, slandered the DPRK, saying North Korea is not only exporting missiles but narcotics as evidenced by what happened in Australia.
    The U.S. is building up public opinion by linking the drug smuggling case with the DPRK again at a time when the former is trying hard to refer the nuclear issue to the UNSC despite the realistic proposal made by the latter to settle it. This is part of Washington's moves to increase the international pressure on the DPRK.
    The DPRK government has consistently been opposed to the misuse and smuggling of drug and has nothing to do with the recent case. We have informed the Australian side that the ship "Pongsu" is a civilian trading ship and the ship owner's side has no idea of this at all.
    We cannot but express surprise and regret at the fact that Australia is linking the case with the DPRK government by playing on the U.S. assertion.
    The origin of the case and the attempt to deliberately link the case with the DPRK from its very beginning compel us strongly suspect that the case is not a mere drug smuggling case but a premeditated case orchestrated to do harm to the DPRK and stifle it to the end under the pretext of its nuclear issue.
    We cannot but take a serious note of the fact that they are pulling up the party and government of the DPRK without any evidence even before the truth about the case is probed.
    We will closely watch how the case is dealt with and never tolerate any attempt to use the case for impairing the authority and dignity of the DPRK.

     pyongyang, 6 de mayo (atcc) -- a la pregunta de un reportero de la agencia telegrafica central de corea formulada en relacion con que se revela un movimiento para aprovechar en una malsana propaganda intrigante contra la republica popular democratica de corea el caso de detencion del carguero "pongsu" de esta en australia, el vocero del ministerio de relaciones exteriores de la rpdc respondio el dia 6 como sigue: ahora, ee.uu. y australia desatan una demagogia de que el partido y el gobierno de la rpdc estan involucrados en el caso de narcotrafico sucedido en aquella.
    en la comision de relaciones exteriores del senado norteamericano sesionado el 30 de abril powell, secretario de estado norteamericano, dijo: "norcorea exporta no solo los misiles, sino tambien la droga como se ha revelado en australia".
    ee.uu. difunde una opinion publica en torno al narcotico vinculando con este problema a la rpdc y lo hace precisamente cuando, pese a un medio realista que adelanto esta para la solucion del problema nuclear, trata de llevar este problema al consejo de seguridad de la onu. esto constituye un eslabon de las maquinaciones encaminadas a arreciar la ofensiva de presion internacional contra la rpdc.
