U.S. mass killings condemned by overseas Koreans
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- The United Confederation of Koreans in Kirgyzstan issued a statement on May 17 in support of the statement released by a spokesman for the north headquarters of the nationwide special committee for probing the truth behind GIs' massacres.
The statement said that overseas Koreans can not repress their bitter indignation at the U.S. imperialists' monstrous mass killings of Korean civilians.
Noting that the GIs' crimes which had long been buried into oblivion in the history once again laid bare the real nature of U.S.-style "democracy" before the world, it demanded the U.S. immediately pull its forces out of South Korea.
Academic seminar slams Japan's debasement of name of DPRK
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- An academic seminar took place at the Grand People's Study House on June 5 to denounce Japan's debasement of the name of the DPRK.
Present at the seminar were officials concerned, members of the linguistic society of the DPRK, researchers in the field of social sciences, university teachers and researchers in Pyongyang.
Recalling that Japanese right-wing political figures and mass media do not bother to defamatorily call the DPRK "Hokusen," speakers bitterly dismissed this as an unpardonable insult to the Korean nation, an encroachment upon the sovereign right of the state and part of the moves against reunification and for continued division perpetrated by them to realize their ambition to reinvade Korea.
They cited concrete historical facts to prove that "Korea" is well known at home and abroad as a symbol of our country and nation along with its history spanning 5,000 years.
"Hokusen" on the lips of the Japanese reactionaries is the vulgar name crafted and used by the Japanese imperialists in the past to mean part of Northern Korea from the standpoint of a colonial ruler, they said, and added:
The Japanese reactionaries are so shameless to claim that they call the DPRK so because there is no diplomatic relations between Japan and the DPRK and this is done according to usual practice and this, therefore, does not pose any problem. If a country's name can be improperly called according to usual practice because of the absence of diplomatic relations, Japan should have been called "woe."
The more undisguised the Japanese reactionaries become in their moves to debase the DPRK, the bitterer national wrath of Koreans they will touch off. In view of these moves they vowed to intensify the probe into Japan's deliberate misuse of the name of the DPRK for a long period and carry on the vigorous struggle against the Japanese reactionaries' debasement of the name of the DPRK.
Iranian diplomats help Korean farmers

They encouraged the farmers busy with the ongoing farm work.
During break, they talked with farmers, deepening the friendship.
The ambassador expressed belief that the friendly ties between the peoples of Iran and the DPRK would grow stronger this year which marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
They conveyed aid materials to the farm.
U.S. "arms buildup plan" rebuffed
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- Lately, commander of the U.S. forces in South Korea Laporte clarified the "arms buildup plan" of the U.S. forces when meeting with the "Minister of National Defence" of South Korea.
Minju Joson today in a signed commentary says that the U.S. "arms buildup plan" is an adventurous plan to enhance the maneuverability and the fire power of the U.S. forces present in South Korea and increase their capability to carry out operations and a dangerous war scenario to round off their thorough preparations for a preemptive attack on the DPRK.
The U.S. imperialists have already worked out a scenario for a preemptive attack in a bid to implement their war strategy against the DPRK according to which they have deployed huge task operational forces including high precision guided weapons, a flotilla of carriers and latest flying corps in and around South Korea, the commentary says, and continues:
A rapid deployment brigade of the U.S. forces equipped with sophisticated technical equipment to be additionally deployed in South Korea is an elite force tasked to mount a surprise attack on the DPRK.
The deployment of this force in South Korea would mean a completion of the U.S. imperialists' preparations for a war of aggression against the DPRK and this would increase the danger of a war in the DPRK.
With nothing can the U.S. cover up the dangerous nature of its "arms buildup plan" or justify it.
Stockpiling huge reserve materials for a war including ammunition and reinforcing troops are what the imperialists usually have done before launching a war.
The U.S. imperialists' arms buildup goes against the trend of the times towards peace, disarmament, reconciliation and cooperation.
The DPRK maintains a full combat readiness to cope with the U.S. imperialists' moves of aggression. It will strongly retaliate against them should they ignite a new war.
Irresponsible remarks of Japanese heavyweight blasted
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- Taro Aso, chairman of the Policy Research Council of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan in a recent lecture given in Tokyo claimed that the policy pursued by the Japanese imperialists in the past to force the Koreans to change their names into Japanese ones was enforced at their request.
Papers here Friday dismissed his remarks as a gross distortion of the historical fact and an unpardonable challenge to the Korean nation as it infringes upon and gravely debases its dignity.
Rodong Sinmun in a signed commentary says:
The Japanese imperialists enforced that policy as part of their policy to "make Koreans imperial subjects." So, his claim that the policy was enforced at the request of Koreans is a gross distortion and denial of the history and a revelation of Japan's intention to repeat its past aggression as it reveals the brazen-facedness and moral vulgarity peculiar to Japan.
Aso's outbursts clearly indicate what a serious phase the Japanese reactionaries' militaristic view on history and way of thinking have reached and how strong and persistent their hostility towards the DPRK has grown, the commentary observes, adding that the Japanese conservative politicians' distortion and misinterpretation of the crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists in the past only bring into bolder relief their blemished conscience and militaristic nature because they are intended to flee away from the liquidation of their past at any cost.
Minju Joson warns that such politicians as Aso had better be careful about their words and deeds, mindful that they will have to pay a very high price for their reckless remarks.
Korean women in Japan flail U.S. war moves
Tokyo, June 4 (KNS-KCNA) -- The Korean women in Japan will actively join those in the north, the south and overseas in their nationwide struggle against the U.S. policy of war.
Kim So Ja, Chairwoman of the Central Standing Committee of the Union of Democratic Korean Women in Japan, who is vice-chairwoman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan said this in a statement released on June 3 in support of the "message to all Koreans" issued by the central committee of the democratic front for the reunification of the fatherland and the committee for the peaceful reunification of the fatherland.
She noted that the danger of the nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula is entirely attributable to the hostile policy of the Bush regime towards the DPRK.
The Korean women in Japan will call on the conscious and peace-loving Japanese women to come out to implement the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration so as to clear up the danger of nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula.
Proud history of KCU
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- June 6 is the 57th anniversary of the Korean Children's Union (KCU).
The KCU is a revolutionary mass organization of the Korean children for carrying forward the revolutionary cause of Juche.
President Kim Il Sung formed the Saenal Children's Union, the first revolutionary organization of children in Korea, to establish the glorious tradition of their movement. Basing himself on this, he founded the KCU after the liberation of the country.
The history of the Korean revolution shining with victory and glory is intertwined with the brilliant feats of KCU members, too.
In the period of the building of the democratic state, they, the future pillars of new democratic Korea, made a positive contribution to carrying out democratic reforms and turning the northern half of Korea into a solid revolutionary base.
They devoted themselves to defending their native villages during the hard-fought fatherland liberation war. They secured a colossal amount of fund to assist the front by collecting waste materials and picking medicinal and edible herbs. They formed juvenile guerrilla units, juvenile guard units and juvenile self-defence corps in the occupied areas including Kowon, Anju, Sonchon and Kosong to repulse the invaders.
During the period of the post-war rehabilitation and construction and the grand socialist construction, they contributed to the economic construction through brisk do-good-thing movements while fully preparing themselves mentally, morally and physically.
There are many lorries, tractors, tramcars, passenger ships, locomotives and passenger coaches which are called "sonyon" (children). There are also "forests of the children's union" in different parts of the country. They are a token of the ardent patriotism displayed by the schoolchildren for the building of a prosperous and strong country.
A large number of KCU members have been honored with Kim Il Sung children honor prize.
Today the 3 million members of the KCU are successfully fulfilling their honorable mission befitting to successors to the revolution in the worthwhile efforts for building a great socialist state, prosperous and powerful.
Housing construction in DPRK
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- The facelifting of the Yonggwang street in the center of Pyongyang is progressing apace.
Most of the buildings of the street, which was built after the Korean war, are dwellings for workers and office employees.
The buildings are being facelifted in the exterior and interior in a modern way so as to provide the dwellers with more convenient and cultural living conditions.
The construction of the Sosan street in Kanggye, Jagang Province, and the Kunmin street in Nampho has been accelerated with the streets taking shape and a lot of apartment houses built already.
A folk street with Korean-style dwelling houses is under construction in Sariwon, North Hwanghae Province.
Great efforts have been directed to the housing construction in the DPRK where the primary attention is paid to issues concerning the people's living.
Housing construction was uninterrupted even in the period of the "arduous march" and the forced march.
Last year alone, more than 113,600 blocks of flats were built in rural communities.
Many families have moved to new houses in Chongdan county, Munchon city, the saltern on Wonsan bay and other parts of the country this year.
All the dwelling houses built at the state expense are taken by people free of charge thanks to the popular policies of the Workers' Party of Korea.
Anniversary of KCU marked
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- Today marks the 57th anniversary of the Korean Children's Union (KCU).
An editorial of Rodong Sinmun today dedicated to this day says that children are the very one who would carve out the future of Songun Korea and the future of the DPRK and the prosperity of the nation entirely depend on the generations to come.
It goes on:
President Kim Il Sung founded the Saenal Children's Union, the first Juche-oriented children's union in our country, and later developed it into the anti-Japanese children's corps and the Korean Children's Union after the liberation of the country, making it possible for the Korean children to unite as one and wage a vigorous struggle under the red flag of the revolution.
Noting that the Songun era led by Kim Jong Il is a glorious era which has brought about a radical turn in strengthening and developing the movement of Korean children, the editorial sets forth tasks to be fulfilled by the KCU members to glorify the Songun cause generation after generation.
It continues:
All the KCU members should become true children's guards remaining boundlessly faithful to Kim Jong Il and uphold the slogan "Ready Always for the Respected General Kim Jong Il" as the eternal banner of the KCU.
All the KCU members should become ardent patriots and young staunch fighters who bitterly hate the class enemies and ardently love the country and the people and able workers of Songun Korea, knowledgeable, virtuous and healthy.
The editorial underscores the need for the KCU organizations to help children enjoy folk games and briskly conduct extracurricular sports activities among them so as to help all of them grow up to be a treasure of the country.
Accession ceremony to KCU held
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- Accession ceremonies of schoolchildren to the Korean Children's Union (KCU) took place at the primary schools and in all cities and counties on the occasion of the 57th anniversary of the KCU.
Children joining the KCU made accession pledges before the KCU flag at the ceremonies.
They vowed to uphold the idea and leadership of the party and the leader with loyalty anytime and anywhere and prepare themselves to be reliable successors to the revolutionary cause of Juche.
Spokesman for DPRK Foreign Ministry on declaration adopted at G-8 summit
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry answered the following answer to a question put by KCNA today in connection with the fact that the declaration adopted at the recent G-8 summit included the DPRK's issue:
The recent G-8 summit held in France made public a declaration faulting the DPRK under the manipulation of the U.S.
The declaration charged that the DPRK has not complied with the safeguards accord (SA) of the International Atomic Energy Agency, backpedalling its international commitment.
As already declared, the DPRK pulled out of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty (NPT) after going through necessary procedures according to international law and it is, accordingly, no longer bound to the SA.
As far as the issue of nuclear deterrent force is concerned, the DPRK has the same legal status as the U.S. and other states possessing nuclear deterrent forces which are not bound to any international law.
Such being a stark fact, the U.S. is working hard to groundlessly charge only the DPRK with the "violation of international law". The U.S. seeks a very sinister political aim through this.
This indicates that the U.S., while paying lip-service to the "peaceful settlement" of the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula, is, in fact, seeking to bring the DPRK to its knees by putting pressure on it.
Participants in the summit accepted an article attacking the DPRK as dictated by the U.S., taking the DPRK for a member state of the NPT. This is either a vivid expression of their ignorance of international law or their misuse of the law for a political purpose.
The U.S. wantonly violates international laws unfavorable for it but resorts to such arbitrary practices as justifying its preposterous charges by unreasonably invoking international law, when necessary.
It can not but be an expression of mean flattery to favour the U.S. arbitrary practices in pursuit of their immediate interests.
Participants in the summit can never flee from the responsibility for seriously debasing the independent status granted by international law through their indiscreet act.
