Cuban embassy officials visit Pyongyang Embroidery Institute

     Pyongyang, July 11 (KCNA) -- Charge d'affaires A.I. Violeta Goodridge Culzac and staff members of the Cuban embassy here visited the Pyongyang Embroidery Institute on Thursday to observe the month of solidarity with the Cuban people. They went round embroidery rooms, being briefed on the fact that the employees of the institute have developed the Korean embroidery by properly preserving the Juche character and the national identity.
    The charge d'affaires A.I. noted that the friendly relations between the two countries have developed on good terms under the deep care of President Kim Il Sung and President Fidel Castro Ruz. The Cuban and Korean peoples are standing in the same trench of the struggle against the U.S. imperialists, she said.
    She hoped that the Korean people would achieve greater success in socialist construction and the cause of national reunification under the wise guidance of Kim Jong Il.
    The visitors appreciated an art performance given by employees of the institute.
    They also saw an acrobatic performance at the Pyongyang Circus Theatre on the same day.

CILRECO calls for supporting Korean people

     Pyongyang, July 11 (KCNA) --The International Liaison Committee for Reunification and Peace in Korea printed bulletin no. 332 on June 30. The month of international solidarity with the Korean people this year requires that the progressive forces of the world should intensify support and solidarity with the just struggle of the Korean people more than ever before to cope with the U.S. threat to unleash a new war in Korea, the bulletin said, and went on:
    The CILRECO calls upon world peace movement organizations and organizations for solidarity with the Korean people to conduct more positive activities on the basis of the following written request:
    Firstly, the U.S. should immediately come out to the DPRK-U.S. talks for the settlement of the nuclear issue and all other problems and decisively give up its war plan against the DPRK.
    Secondly, the U.S. should stop interfering in the internal affairs of the Korean people and withdraw its troops from South Korea without delay.
    Thirdly, the South Korean authorities should not lay obstacles to the process of reconciliation and reunification which began with the adoption of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration but take active measures for its implementation.
    Fourthly, all the countries concerned should strive to ensure a durable peace in the Korean peninsula, the key to security and stability of Korea and its surrounding area, and establish a guarantee for it.
    The CILRECO calls upon the governments and political parties of all countries to conduct diverse activities so that the U.S., the South Korean authorities and the U.N. Security Council may carry through the requests.

Theory of "principal enemy" flailed

     Pyongyang, July 11 (KCNA) -- U Tae Sik, spokesman for the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils, reportedly issued a commentary on July 7 titled "we criticize the anti-north Cold War theory of the ministry of national defence which called the north 'principal enemy.'" Recalling that the ministry in teaching materials called "moral education" termed the DPRK a "principal enemy" and similar remarks are made by brass hats in an unbroken chain, the commentary said that their Cold War idea runs counter to the spirit of the June 15 Joint Declaration.
    Dismissing the recent act of the ministry as one toeing the U.S. line, the commentary urged the military authorities to immediately withdraw the label of "principal enemy" attached to the north.

Chinese Ambassador gives reception

     Pyongyang, July 11 (KCNA) -- Wu Donghe, Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK, yesterday gave a reception at the embassy on the occasion of the .42nd anniversary of the Korea-China treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance. Present on invitation were Yang Hyong Sop, Vice-President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, Minister of Public Health Kim Su Hak who is chairman of the Central Committee of the DPRK-China Friendship Association, Kim Thae Jong, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Yong Il, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kim Jin Bom, vice-chairman of the Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, and other officials concerned.
    The ambassador said at the reception that the Sino-Korean treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance signed by the leaders of the old generation of the two countries is an important treaty that reflects the will of the parties and peoples of the two countries that set store by the traditional Sino-Korean friendship.
    He said that the party, the army and the people of the DPRK single-heartedly rallied around leader Kim Jong Il are making a dynamic advance despite all difficulties, adding that the nomination of Kim Jong Il as a candidate for a deputy to the 11th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK was an expression of profound trust of all the Korean people in him.
    Yang Hyong Sop in his speech sincerely hoped that the Chinese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of China led by General Secretary Hu Jintao would achieve greater success in the efforts to attain the goal of a high stage in the socialist modernization drive put forward by the 16th Congress of the CPC.
    Noting that it is the consistent stand of the WPK and the government of the DPRK to set store by and steadily boost the DPRK-China friendship, he expressed belief that the friendship would continue to grow stronger thanks to the concern of the two leaders and the efforts of the two countries.

National cooperation called for

     Pyongyang, July 11 (KCNA) -- The situation on the Korean peninsula growing tenser as the days go by due to the U.S. imperialists' moves to start a nuclear war against the DPRK calls upon all the Koreans to strengthen national cooperation and foil the outsiders' challenges to peace and reunification under the uplifted banner of the June 15 Joint Declaration.     The lesson drawn in this period is that as long as there exist outsiders, who are dead set against Korea's reunification, and anti-reunification elements, their cat's paws, the cause of national reunification can not but undergo setbacks and trials.
    All the members of the nation should turn out on the road of national cooperation with patriotism if they are to implement the joint declaration to the letter and bring earlier the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.

Reproductive health of young people in DPRK

     Pyongyang, July 11 (KCNA) -- July 11 is the World Population Day. The government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has paid deep attention to the reproductive health of the young people at the age of puberty which is crucial in the solution to the serious population problem in the world.
    The youth of the DPRK enjoy love from the people as the future of the country and the nation and the most vital force of the society.
    The issue of reproductive health of the youth at puberty was completely resolved in the DPRK many years ago.
    The marriageable age is 27.3 for male and 24.8 for female on an average, according to the investigation into reproductive health carried out in different parts of the country in cooperation with the un population fund.
    Kang Nam Il, director of the population institute, in an interview with KCNA said: Colorful functions are being held on this year's theme "adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights" advanced by the UNPF. Newspapers and radios are dedicating articles and programmes to the world population day and a special issue of the periodical "information on population" has been published.

Rodong Sinmun on forthcoming election

     Pyongyang, July 11 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today editorially calls for greeting the forthcoming election of deputies to the Supreme People's Assembly and the provincial (municipal), city (district) and county people's assemblies with high political enthusiasm and labor successes. It says:
