Letter to Kim Jong Il from NDFSK CC

     Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) - General Secretary Kim Jong Il received a letter from the Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea on July 27 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the victory in the Korean War. The letter said:
    The July 27 victory in the Korean War which startled the world half a century ago was an event of the century that humbled the pride of the U.S. imperialists, who had boasted of being "the strongest" in the world for the first time in history and opened a new era of independence against imperialism.
    For the historic July 27 victory, the north could top the world as heroic Korea.
    You are now brilliantly carrying forward the history of the victory in the war against the U.S. won by President Kim Il Sung, a peerlessly brilliant commander and a national hero, in the middle of the last century.
    It is the great result of your Songun policy, an all-powerful treasured sword, that the north is honorably defending the sovereignty of the nation and the fortress of socialism while foiling the unprecedented north-stifling offensive of the U.S. fancying itself as the "only superpower" of the world, and leading the cause of global independence to victory, while striking a resolute blow at the high-handed strategy of the U.S. for world domination.
    It is the greatest honor and good fortune of the 70 million Koreans to hold in high esteem as the leader of the nation you, who are carrying forward the July 27 of the 20th century as that of the 21st century with your Songun policy best in the world.
    If the U.S. imperialists ultimately ignite a war of aggression against the north, the NDFSK and all the South Koreans, together with compatriots in the north, will wage a life-and-death battle to achieve the historic cause of national reunification at all costs.

DPRK War Victory anniversary celebrated

     Moscow, July 25 (KCNA) -- The party for peace and unity of Russia sponsored a meeting in Moscow on July 23 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the Great Fatherland Liberlation War. Chairwoman of the party Sazhi Umalatova, addressing the meeting, said that the gifted military strategy and distinguished commanding art of President Kim Il Sung brought about the victory of the Korean people in the Great Fatherland Liberlation War.
    Georgy Trapeznikov, president of the International Academy of Mental Unity of the World People, said that leader Kim Jong Il's Songun policy made the national power of Korea invincible.
    Pointing out that Kim Jong Il is now creditably carrying forward the cause of Kim Il Sung, prof. Olga Ishenko, doctor of history, noted that his Songun policy is a model to be followed by many countries.

Sister cities between DPRK and Mexico

     Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- A ceremony for setting Chiautempan city, Tlaxcala state, Mexico, and Nampho city, the DPRK, as sister cities was held in Chiautempan on July 19. The mayor of the city and the DPRK ambassador to Mexico signed a document on establishing sister cities.
    At the ceremony the mayor said that the establishment of sister city with Nampho, a famous port city in Korea, is a clear example of the friendly and cooperative relations deepening between the two countries and the two peoples as the days go by.
    We will organize colorful political and cultural functions for solidarity with the Korean people in our city and take these opportunities to contribute to the development of the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries, he stressed.

U.S. warned not to forget past defeat

     Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- the U.S. imperialists should not repeat the lesson of their disgraceful defeat in the Korean war, contemplating why they were defeated, warns Rodong Sinmun today. Commenting on the U.S. moves to unleash another war in Korea, intentionally rendering the situation strained, the paper says:
    "Peaceful solution to the nuclear issue" on the lip-service of the U.S. is nothing but a camouflaged peace trick and a window-dressing to cover up its intention for a preemptive attack.
    The army and the people of the DPRK do not want a war. But they are not afraid of and will not avoid it. It is utter folly for the U.S. to think that its troops will go scot-free when they are relocated in areas south of seoul. The U.S. should not think that its forces present in South Korea will survive another Korean war to be ignited by it.
    In recent years the U.S. had unilateral wars of aggression, in which it would beat the "enemy" by applying "surgical operation-style strike" in long distance, without being counterattacked.
    However, such way of war can never work on the Korean army and people who have strong war deterrent force under the great Songun policy.

Papers on exploits of Kim Il Sung

     Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- Papers here today dedicate editorials to the 50th anniversary of the victory in the Great Fatherland Liberlation War, which say that the exploits president Kim Il Sung performed in achieving the victory in the war will shine forever under the Songun policy. Rodong Sinmun says:
    The president led the Fatherland Liberlation War to the brilliant victory, which becomes immortal historic exploits he performed on behalf of the times and revolution, the Korean nation and the human cause of independence.
    The history of outstanding and seasoned leadership of Kim Jong Il holds a brilliant place in the glorious 50-year long history of the Korean revolution, which has emerged victorious on the basis of the immortal exploits the president performed in achieving victory in the war.
    The history, in which Kim Jong Il has led our army and people for scores of years, is the history in which he has provided all the guarantees for eternal victory in the confrontation with the imperialists with his Songun revolutionary leadership.
    He has successfully carried forward and developed in depth the president's idea and line of attaching importance to arms and set forth the political mode of Songun, a powerful socialist political mode, and opened the era of new victory in the anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. confrontation with the might of Songun policy.

Congratulatory message to Kim Jong Il

     Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) - General Secretary Kim Jong Il today received a congratulatory message from the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the victory in the Great Fatherland Liberlation War. The victory in the Fatherland Liberlation War represented a victory of the idea of attaching importance to arms, the idea of attaching importance to military affairs set out by President Kim Il Sung and a shining victory of his matchless grit, outstanding military strategy and tactics, the message says.

Wreaths laid before Friendship Tower

     Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- Senior party and state officials, officers and men of the Korean People's Army and working people laid wreaths before the friendship tower this morning on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the victory in the Great Fatherland Liberlation War. The KPA guards of honor were lined up at the tower.
    Present at the wreath-laying ceremony were han song ryong, sin il nam, chairman of the Central Committee of the Korean Social Democratic Party Kim Yong Dae, officials of the party and power organs, public organizations, ministries and national institutions, kpa officers and men and working people in Pyongyang.

Military ranks of KPA commanding officers promoted

     Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il issued an order on promoting the military ranks of commanding officers of the KPA on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the victory in the Great Fatherland Liberlation War. The order dated July 26 said that the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK fully demonstrated the mettle and honor of heroic Korea by defeating the U.S. imperialist aggressors, which had boasted of being "the strongest" in the world, under the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung.
    Today they have grown stronger to be a matchless army capable of crushing any imperialist aggressors at a single stroke and are performing proud feats to shine long in the annals of the country, standing in the van of the struggle to defend the country and build a great prosperous powerful socialist nation.
    He issued this order, expressing the firm belief that the kpa commanding officers who have grown under the care of the Workers' Party of Korea and the leader would creditably fulfil in the future, too, the heavy duties they have assumed before the party, the country, the times and the revolution, true to the Songun revolutionary leadership of the party.
    According to the order, Pyon In Son and five other commanding officers have been promoted to colonel generals, Jon Ryong Gu and nine others to lieutenant generals and Rim Yong Hwa and seven others to major generals.

War Victory Day observed

     Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- A national meeting was held in the compound of the monument to victory in the Fatherland Liberlation War today to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the victory in the great war. Present at the meeting were senior party, state and army officials.
    Also on hand were the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the National Democratic Front of South Korea and overseas compatriots staying in the socialist homeland. Present on invitation were diplomatic envoys of different countries to the DPRK.
    Kim Yong Chun, chief of the general staff of the Korean People's Army, made a report at the meeting.
    The reporter said that the Fatherland Liberlation War waged by the Korean people was a worldwide revolutionary war against the armed invasion of the allied imperialist forces led by the U.S. and a liberation war of justice to defend the sovereignty and dignity of the country and the nation.
    The historic victory of our army and people in the war was a brilliant victory of President Kim Il Sung's Juche-based military idea, strategy and tactics and unique war methods, he stated, referring to the enduring feats the president performed in leading the anti-U.S. war to victory.

    The Fatherland Liberlation War of the Korean people convincingly proved that the army and people intensely loyal to their great leader's guidance could finally win in the confrontation with any formidable imperialist enemy.

    Today the Korean revolution is making a vigorous advance on a higher stage, recording a new chapter of victory in the history of the struggle against the U.S.-led imperialists with the ever-victorious revolutionary armed forces under the distinguished Songun leadership of supreme commander Kim Jong Il who is creditably carrying forward the President's cause of Juche.
    The Songun revolutionary line and the Songun policy are the strategic line and political mode that should always be held fast to as long as imperialism remains on the earth and the enemy resorts to aggressive moves, the reporter said, urging all the party members, KPA officers and men and people to remain true to the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il.

     Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Foreign Minister Paek Nam Sun sent a message of greetings to his Maldivian counterpart Fathulla Jameel on the occasion of its Independence Day. The message wished him greater success in his work, expressing the belief that the good relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries would continue to develop in the common interests of the two peoples.

Inter-Korean contact made

     Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- A contact between the Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee and Hyundai Asan was made at the Mt. Kumgang resort from Wednesday to Friday. Attending the contact from the north side were Ri Jong Hyok, vice-chairman of the Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, Pang Jong Sam, president of the Kumgangsan International Tourist General Company, and other officials concerned and on the Hyundai Asan side were chairman of Hyundai Asan Jong Mong Hon, its president Kim Yun Gyu and other officials concerned.
    They had an exhaustive discussion on immediate and important issues including the definition of the boundary of Mt. 50th anniversary of War Victory celebrated

     Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- The 50th anniversary of the victory in the Great Fatherland Liberlation War was celebrated in Korea. An art performance "Song of victory will be everlasting under the leadership of the Great General" was given by members of the Korean Democratic Women's Union on July 25.
    The performance reflected the immortal exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung in leading the war to victory and the ardent patriotism, fighting spirit and revolutionary optimism displayed by people and women in the rear who actively assisted servicemen.

DPRK history society on significance of War Victory

     Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- The Korean people's victory in the Fatherland Liberlation War was a great event that brought about a turn in the implementation of the cause of independence against imperialism, exploding the myth about the U.S. imperialists' "mightiness". The DPRK history society stresses this in a memorandum contributed to Rodong Sinmun today.
    The Korean War was, in political aspect, a model of anti-imperialist national liberation struggles, a war in which socialism defeated imperialism for the first time after the Second World War and, in moral aspect, a fight between human being and "higher savage," a war that declared the ruin of the "Yankee civilization". In military and technical aspects, it was the war largest ever in history in scale except the past two world wars and the first war in the era of a-bombs, a war in which most advanced weaponry was used at that time.
    The myth about the U.S. imperialists' "mightiness" meant, in essence, the "mightiness" of the U.S. military capability, that is its tremendous economic potential and the superiority of its aggression troops in numerical strength and military technique based on such potential, the memorandum says, and goes on:
    However, that myth was shattered to smithereens in Korea.
    In the three year-long Korean War, the U.S. imperialists hurled over two million troops and all types of modern military equipment and weapons. But, even their "ever-victorious division", B-29 called "superfortress", seventh fleet with missouri as its flag ship and hundreds of warships of the navy in the far east could not save the U.S. from its defeat.
    In the Second World War the U.S. suffered a loss of 46,000 planes in the wide skies of the world in four years. However, in the Korean War it lost more than 12,000 planes in the small skies over the Korean Peninsula, one thousandths of that size, only in three years.
    The U.S. imperialists were so foolish as to calculate that if they erased the cities and rural villages of Korea from a "map", set fire to mountains and streams, plants and trees and killed at random men and women, old and young through a "mass killing operation" involving the use of even germ and chemical weapons, they could frighten the Korean people and demonstrate the U.S. "mightiness".
    But they could not bring the Korean people to their knees by any barbarous atrocities.
    That was why former U.S. defense secretary marshall deplored that the myth was shattered, saying the U.S. was not so strong as others thought.
    The U.S., the "superpower" that suffered not a single defeat in the 100 odd year-long history of war of aggression, sustained a disgraceful defeat for the first time before the young people's army in Korea and the myth about the "mightiness" of the U.S. imperialists was shattered to smithereens. The memorandum refers to the worldwide significance of the victory in the Fatherland Liberlation War.
    It goes on:
    The victory in the war helped protect the security of the socialist countries and the world peace and further strengthen the socialist forces.
    The victory brought about a new surge in the anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. struggle and the national liberation struggle, precipitated the collapse of the imperialist colonial system as a whole and thus occasioned an epochal turn in the cause of global independence.
    As the military and technological superiority in which the U.S. imperialists had believed as in "God" proved absurd and the corruption of the U.S. imperialist aggression troops was brought to light in the Korean War, hundreds of millions of oppressed people, of the world who were taken in by the idea of fearing and worshiping the U.S., were freed from the mental yoke and joined the anti-imperialist front.
    The world people came to view the U.S. as a "clay-moulded giant" and a "paper tiger", not an "invincible power".
    They grasped the truth that a decisive factor of winning a victory in the revolutionary war lies in the united strength of the popular masses convinced of the validity of their cause, not in the advantages of the combat equipment and, accordingly, even a small country can surely defeat any formidable enemy and win a final victory if it fights against him in a do-or-die spirit, singleheartedly rallied around its leader, believing in its strength.
    The example of the anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. struggle set by the Korean people in the Fatherland Liberlation War served as a banner of the national liberation struggle in colonies and a factor of opening an epochal turn in the struggle for global independence.

clausurada la conferencia internaiconal sobre la preservacion de la paz en corea

     pyongyang, 26 de julio (atcc) -- quedo clausurada el dia 25 la conferencia internaiconal sobre la preservacion de la paz en la peninsula coreana inaugurada en esta capital. antes de su clausura, continuo la sesion plenaria. jitendra sharma, presidente de la asociacion internacional de juristas democratas, al hacer uso de la palabra, senalo que el tribunal internacional de pyongyang sobre las atrocidades de ee.uu. perpetradas en corea demando que ee.uu. pida disculpa oficial al pueblo coreano por sus actos criminales cometidos en la guerra coreana, por haber perturbado incesantemente, despues de la guerra hasta la fecha, la paz en la peninsula coreana y haber impedido el desarrollo independiente y la reunificacion de la nacion coreana y retire de inmediato sus tropas de corea del sur.
    despues hubo intervenciones.
    los oradores exhortaron al pueblo coreano y las fuerzas democraticas internacionales a desplegar con las fuerzas unidas la lucha por la ejecucion de la decision del tribunal internacional de pyongyang con el mismo impetu con que llevaron a ee.uu. al banquillo de acusado internacional.

contacto entre el ccpap y firma hyundai y asan

     pyongyang, 26 de julio (atcc) -- tuvo lugar del 23 al 25 de julio en el monte kumgang un contacto entre el comite coreano por la paz de asia y el pacifico y la firma hyundai y asan de sudcorea. participaron, por la parte norte, ri jong hyok, vicepresidente del ccpap, pang jong sam, director general de la agencia general de turismo internacional del monte kumgang y otros funcionarios y, por la parte de la firma hyundai y asan, el presidente jong mong hon, el director kim yun gyu y otros relacionados.
    se discutieron con sinceridad los importantes problemas que se presentan actualmente tales como el problema de fijar el limite de la zona turistica del monte kumgang, el del turismo modelo por via terrestre a este monte, la activacion del turismo del monte kumgang, el acto de apertura del gimnasio de ryugyong jong ju yong, etc.
    ambas partes acordaron revisar positivamente los problemas presentados.
