KCNA flails U.S. strategy for preemptive strike

     Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- "Information" used by the United States for justifying the Iraqi War has proved totally false, creating a great furor. The Bush administration has so far spearheaded the operation to scour every nook and corner of Iraq so as to find out objective evidence proving Iraq's "possession of weapons of mass destruction" which it cited as a pretext for starting the Iraqi War. But it has so far proved futile, thus driving Washington into a political predicament.
    At a time when there is an increasing doubt on the international arena about information about "weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq, U.S. political and press circles are becoming increasingly assertive that the Bush administration might distort or hype the above-said information when launching the attack on Iraq.
    It is becoming clearer that the "information" is false as those involved in the war expressed their understanding of their assertion.
    Much upset by this, the bush regime tried to clinch the case by shifting the blame for the leakage of false information about the Iraq's "plan for purchasing uranium" onto the CIA.
    The Iraqi War broke out as the inspection conducted under the pretext of "anti-terrorism" demanded disarmament and systematically led to an armed attack. It was a war of aggression and state terrorism the U.S. unilaterally committed, ignoring international law and the united nations, to meet its political purpose and economic interests.
    The U.S. intends to apply the same methods to the DPRK as it did in the Iraqi War. It was by no means before long that the U.S. had to pay a price for peddling false "information" about "enriched uranium plan" and the suspected "secret underground nuclear facility" in Kumchang-ri of the DPRK.
    By nature, the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula was caused by the policy to stifle the DPRK pursued by the U.S. that regards the DPRK as an anathema to it, not an issue of whether one develops nuclear weapons or not.
    The U.S. council on foreign relations in a recent report titled "meeting nuclear challenge of North Korea" said that the U.S. should consider pushing forward tough measures to the possible scope though it does not command full support from regional allies.
    As the document shows, the U.S. is not concealing its vicious plot to mount a preemptive military attack on the DPRK at any cost under the pretext of the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula.
    The escalated reckless moves of the U.S. to carry out its strategy for preemptive attack compels the army and the people in the DPRK to keep themselves fully combat-ready.
    If the U.S., which seems to be upbeat after the Iraqi War, goes on with its policy to stifle the DPRK without discretion, it will only precipitate its self-destruction.

Day of War Victory celebrated abroad

     Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- A DPRK Book and Photo Exhibition was held in Hungary and Film Shows and Photo Exhibitions took place in Switzerland, India, Indonesia and Libya, a friendship meeting in Democratic Congo and a Taekwon-do demonstration and bouts in Equatorial Guinea from July 15 to 20 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the Great Fatherland Liberation War. The vice-chairman of the Workers' Party of Hungary, speaking at the opening ceremony of the photo and book exhibition, highly praised the immortal feats of president Kim Il Sung in leading the war to a brilliant victory.
    The chairman of the Indian Committee for the Study of the Juche Philosophy, in a speech at the film show said that though the imperialists are leaving no stone unturned in their bid to isolate and stifle socialist Korea, the Korean people, remaining loyal to the Songun revolutionary leadership of Kim Jong Il, are vigorously advancing socialism of Korean style chosen by themselves.
    The Songun idea and Songun policy of Kim Jong Il are a powerful weapon which the world progressives aspiring after an independent and peaceful new world should uphold, he added.
    The manager of a machine repair plant of Libya said that he learned from the film the might of the Korea people under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il. No one can toy with the strength of the people of the DPRK where the leader, the party and the masses are singleheartedly united, he stressed.

U.S. attempt at preemptive attack under fire

     Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA)-- The "peaceful method" and "dialogue" much touted by the U.S. ruling quarters so far as regards the nuclear issue between the DPRK and the U.S. are nothing but a clumsy burlesque intended to cover up their psychological warfare and escalated moves to stifle the DPRK by force such as finally examining and comprehensively rounding off a new scenario for a war against the DPRK so-called "Operation Plan 5030". Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed commentary denouncing the united states for having worked out the "Operation Plan 5030", a new plan for a war of aggression on the DPRK, aimed at mounting a preemptive attack on it behind the curtain of "dialogue". The news analyst goes on:
    The U.S. is pushing ahead with the plan to bolster up the U.S. forces present in South Korea to mount a preemptive attack on the DPRK behind the curtain of "dialogue" and stepping up the strategic deployment such as transferring its combat equipment involved in the Iraqi War to South Korea.
    The U.S. imperialists, while demanding the DPRK "drop its nuclear development program before dialogue", are stepping up the development of smaller nukes to make nuclear strikes at the DPRK's strategic targets and underground facilities.
    The "Operation Plan 5030" worked out against this backdrop, suggests that the U.S. imperialists' provocation of another Korean War is not a hypothesis but becoming a reality. But the DPRK has its own powerful operation mode to cope with the U.S. war method.
    If the U.S. dares to ignite another war against the DPRK, judging it as its earlier targets of war, this would be the most gross mistake ever to be committed by it in history.

Peaceful relaxation of tension in Korea hoped for

     Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA)-- Sheikh Hamad Bin Isa al-Khalifa, King of Bahrain, hoped that the tense situation of the Korean Peninsula would be relaxed peacefully by means of dialogue and negotiation. New DPRK ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary Kim Hyong Jun presented his credentials to him on July 22.
    The King wished the Korean people success in their work for peaceful reunification of the country and economic progress. He expressed the hope that the friendly relations between the two countries would develop into closer and firmer relations.

Useful animals protected and propagated widely in DPRK

     Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- Efforts are being directed to protecting and propagating useful animals in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The government has designated hundreds of thousands of hectares in different areas of the country as pheasant reserves.
    And it has set up or expanded farms for breeding useful animals and releasing them in mountains.
    Additional measures have also been taken to protect white-bellied black woodpeckers rare to be seen in the World.
    Hundreds of useful animal reserves covering hundreds of thousands of hectares have already been established in Paektu, Kumgang, Myohyang, Chilbo and other famous mountains and scenic spots across the country.
    According to Jang Jun Gap, vice-director of the Forest Bureau under the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection, the nation's efforts are being channeled into establishing migrants reserves in Mundok county, South Phyongan province in cooperation with the UNDP, GEF, WCS and other international organizations.
    The work for protecting useful animals has been conducted as a nationwide campaign since the law of the DPRK on the protection of useful animals was adopted in November Juche 87 (1998).

Glorifying Kim Il Sung's feats called for

     Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today editorially calls for glorifying forever the immortal feats President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il performed in building the power. It goes on:
    The proud history of the people's power of the DPRK is brilliantly recorded with the president's idea, leadership, tireless efforts and dedication.
    He set forth the unique line of building the people's power based on the Juche idea in the period of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle and accumulated valuable experience in its implementation and provided a successful solution to the issue of power in a short span of time after the liberation of the country.
    The president weathered out the rigorous storm of the history regarding "people are my god" as his maxim. Under his energetic leadership there emerged in the country a genuine people's power, the first of its kind in history representing the interests of the working people and serving them.
    Thanks to his noble view on future and dynamic guidance the socio-political foundation of the people's power came to be solidly based on the single-hearted unity of the party, the leader and the masses and its role has rapidly increased in all fields of the revolution and construction.
    The people's power entered a new stage of its development and is fully displaying its might as a powerful political weapon in the Songun era thanks to the outstanding wisdom, distinguished leadership ability and devoted efforts of Kim Jong Il.
    Kim Jong Il was nominated as a candidate for deputy to the 11th term Supreme People's Assembly.      Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) - General Secretary Kim Jong Il was presented with gifts by Vladimir Tolstikov, chairman of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK, and Humberto Ortiz, honorary manager of the Voluntad Publishing House of Ecuador, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War. Greetings to Moroccan King

     Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, President of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, sent a message of greetings to Moroccan King Mohamed Vi today on the occasion of its National Day. Expressing belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would grow stronger in conformity with their mutual interests, the message wished the king and the Moroccan people greater progress and prosperity.

     Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- A friendship gathering was held at the People's Palace of Culture today on the occasion of the National Day of the Kingdom of Belgium. Present on invitation were members of the friendship visiting group of the Belgian Labour Party led by Bossuyt Jozef, member of the central committee of the party, on a visit to the DPRK.

Kim Jong Il inspects KPA unit

     Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected KPA unit 675 honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led 7th regiment. He highly appreciated the unit's feats, saying that it is a unit that has made a great contribution to the defence of the country and the building of a rich and strong country.
    He acquainted himself with the performance of the unit's duty before going round a hall for technological lectures.
    Noting with great satisfaction that the unit is keeping the synthesized and systematized uptodate scientific materials of various kinds necessary for the performance of its duty on display and conducting an effective education of its servicepersons with the help of visual aids so that all of them may be well versed in modern military technology, he put forward highly important tasks which would serve as guidelines in further increasing the combat power of the unit.
    Then, he paid deep attention to the living of the soldiers, going round an education room, a bedroom, a mess hall, a washroom, a barber's shop, an outdoor resting place, a fish farm and other places of the unit.
    No details escaped him to show profound loving care for the soldiers, ranging from means for entertainment and conditions of their bedrooms to sideline job organization and the supply of luxury goods.
    He stressed the need for all the commanding officers to always pay deep attention to the supply service for the soldiers so as to provide them with the best living conditions.
