Seminar on Songun Politics Held in India

     Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- The Asian Regional Institute of the Juche Idea sponsored an Indian national seminar on the subject of "Songun idea, guiding idea of the 21st century" in New Delhi on August 30 on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the DPRK. Director General of the International Institute of the Juche Idea Vishwanath said in a report that the reality of Korea in which it is winning victory after victory even under the situation where the anti-DPRK moves of the U.S. and other Western forces have gone to extremes in recent years clearly proves the vitality of the DPRK government, particularly, the tremendous vitality of the Songun politics pursued by leader Kim Jong Il.
    Recalling that he comprehensively set out the revolutionary idea of Songun on the basis of his insight into the changed situation and the practical requirements of the cause of independence, Vishwanath stressed: Only victory and glory are in store for the DPRK vigorously advancing under the Songun revolutionary leadership.
    Then the floor was taken by the general secretary of the Central Committee of the All-India Forward Bloc, the chairman of the All India Indo-Korean Friendship Association, the secretary general of the Asian Regional Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification, the chief of the International Affairs Department of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions and other public figures.
    They said that the DPRK founded by President Kim Il Sung, has become a beacon of hope of progressive countries and independent peoples, adding that this is the shining fruition of the clairvoyant wisdom and extraordinary leadership of Kim Jong Il, the great leader of the 21st century.
    Under the banner of Songun the DPRK is shining brightly as an ideologically and politically strong country and a military power bravely frustrating the U.S. nuclear threat and its moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK, they noted, and stressed:
    Absolute is the faith of the Korean people to follow their leader forever. The reality of the DPRK clearly proves the truth of the history that a country can shed its rays and a nation can become stronger only under the guidance of a great leader.
    A message of greetings to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the seminar.

Floral Basket to Kim Jong Il

     Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il received a floral basket from the Chinese government on his reelection as chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK at the First Session of the 11th DPRK Supreme People's Assembly. Chinese Ambassador E.P. to the DPRK Wu Donghe conveyed the basket to an official concerned on Sept. 3.

Congratulations to Kim Jong Il from Hu Jintao

     Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, received a congratulatory message from Hu Jintao, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and president of the People's Republic of China, on Sept. 3 on his reelection as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission. The message says:
    Upon hearing happy news that you were reelected chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea at the First Session of the 11th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, I extend warmest congratulations to you I believe that the fraternal Korean people will surely continue to achieve new successes in the cause to build socialism of Korean style and realize the independent and peaceful reunification of the country under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea headed by you.
    It is the consistent policy of the party and government of China to consolidate and develop the traditional Sino-Korean friendship. We will make ceaseless efforts for this in the future, too.
    We are convinced that the friendly and cooperative relations between China and the DPRK will keep advancing in the future thanks to the joint efforts of both sides.

Preparatory Committee Formed by Koreans in Far Eastern Region

     Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- A preparatory committee of the United Confederation of Koreans in the Far Eastern Region was inaugurated on Sept. 1 with due ceremony to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the DPRK. Kwon Chon Sik, chairman of the confederation, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.
    The committee discussed and decided on the plan to hold multifarious functions including celebration meeting, seminar and film show on the occasion.

Congratulations to Kim Jong Il from Jiang Zemin

     Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, received a congratulatory message from Jiang Zemin, chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China, on Sept. 3 on his reelection as chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea at the First Session of the 11th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK. The message said that the traditional friendship between China and the DPRK has made steady good progress in recent years and expressed belief that the Sino-Korean friendly and cooperative relations would surely grow stronger thanks to the joint efforts of both sides.
    Hoping for the progress and prosperity of the DPRK, the message wished Kim Jong Il greater success in his future work.

Worldwide Signature Campaign for Peace of Korea Held

     Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- The Australian Peace Committee and the Australia-Friend on the Earth started a signature campaign in June after sending letters to heads of state of various countries and the U.S. president opposing the U.S. plan to mount a military attack on the DPRK and calling on the U.S. to faithfully fulfil its commitment to nuclear disarmament under the NPT, conclude a non-aggression treaty with the DPRK and peacefully solve the nuclear issue. In response to the appeal, the signature campaign has been held worldwide for the past 3 months. It was signed by at least 400 organizations of more than 50 countries including the Australian Medical Science Association for Preventing War, the Russian Doctors' Organization for Preventing Nuclear War, the Canadian Doctors' Organization for the Existence of the Earth, the Indian Institute for Peace, Disarmament and Environmental Protection, the Sri Lankan Journalists Federation and the Brazilian Peace Council and over 30 international and regional organizations including Abolition-2000 which has at least 2,000 affiliated organizations in the world, the International Doctors' Organization for Preventing Nuclear War, the World Peace Council, the Hague Office for Peace, the World Citizens' Association and the Arab Human Rights Committee.
    84 organizations including the Lawyers' Committee on the Nuclear Policy and the U.S. Peace Council supported the signature campaign in the U.S. and the mayor of Hiroshima,
    Japan, who is chairman of the Mayors' Organization for Peace signed the signature paper on behalf of mayors of 547 cities of 107 countries. Nearly 60 members of parliaments of 13 countries including Russia, Britain, Ghana, Tanzania and Brazil took part in the signature campaign.

8-day Film Show Starts

     Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- The 8-day film show started to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the DPRK. To be shown this time will be films dealing with immortal feats President Kim Il Sung performed by founding the DPRK and setting a brilliant example in state building and the extraordinary leadership ability and personality of Kim Jong Il as a great man, who has steadfastly carried forward the cause of building a socialist state of Juche with his unique Songun revolutionary leadership.
    Among them are documentary films on the great life of the President including "The Leader Is the Great Father of Our People" and "The Fatherly Leader with the Working Class" and other documentary films dealing with the Songun revolutionary exploits of Kim Jong Il including "Having the Great Brilliant Commander," "Care Shown to Make Their Lives Shine" and "Legend of Love Created on the Road of On-site Guidance."
    Cinema-goers will see such feature films dealing with the historic days when the DPRK was founded and the heroic struggle of the army and the people for the prosperity of the country as "My Country," "The Birth of a New Government" parts 1 and 2, "The Nation and Destiny" (serials) and "People of Jagang Province" parts 1 and 2.
    Scientific films will also be screened.
    A national opening ceremony of the show was held at the People's Palace of Culture on Sept. 3. Opening ceremonies of the show also took place in all provincial capitals.
    The show that started on Sept. 3 will last till Sept. 10 at cinemas and cultural halls across the country.

Celebrations Held

     Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- Meetings of workers and members of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK) and agricultural working people were held on September 3 to celebrate of the 55th anniversary of the DPRK. At the celebration meeting of workers and members of the GFTUK, the reporter and speakers said they were significantly celebrating the 55th anniversary of the DPRK with the boundless honor of electing again leader Kim Jong Il to the top post of national defence in a historical period when Juche Korea was adding shine to its dignity and glory.
    Saying that the cause of building a socialist state of Juche pioneered by President Kim Il Sung was being unswervingly carried forward by Kim Jong Il, they noted the immortal exploits performed by Kim Jong Il as an outstanding leader and a resolute defender of the DPRK, which would shine in the century.
    They called on all the workers and members of the GFTUK to direct utmost efforts to increasing defence power and become patriots of the Songun era devotedly working for the prosperity of the socialist motherland, upholding Kim Jong Il's magnificent design of building a great prosperous powerful nation.
    The speakers at the celebration meeting of agricultural working people said that Kim Il Sung is the benevolent father and the great teacher who trained them all as masters of land and the country, finding himself among peasants all his life.
    The revolutionary feats performed by the President in solving the rural question will be immortal with the history of the DPRK, they said.
    They recalled that Kim Jong Il put forward a policy of agricultural revolution, setting agricultural production as the most essential matter in the building of a great prosperous powerful nation, to show the way for bringing a fundamental turn in agricultural production, and has energetically led them to highly display its vitality and validity.

Reelection of Kim Jong Il Congratulated

     Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- A rally of officers and men of the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces was held at the Jonsung Square in Pyongyang on September 3 to hail the reelection of leader Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, as chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK. At the rally Vice Marshal Jo Myong Rok, first vice-chairman of the DPRK NDC and director of the General Political Department of the KPA, made a report which was followed by speeches.
    The reporter and speakers extended highest glory and warmest congratulations with boundless admiration and wholehearted loyalty of all the officers and men of the KPA to Kim Jong Il on his reelection as chairman of the DPRK NDC according to the unanimous desire and will of the whole army and entire people.
    His reelection, they said, was a clear manifestation of undisputed support to and warm trust in him of all the KPA officers and men and people and a revelation of the rock-firm faith and will of the army and people to build a great prosperous powerful nation at any cost on this land to carry the revolutionary cause of Juche to accomplishment under his wise leadership.
    Kim Jong Il has led the WPK, the state and the revolutionary armed forces along the road of victory over last decades to perform great immortal exploits that will shine long in the history of the motherland and the history of the struggle for the liberation of humankind, they noted.

New Antiseptic Developed

     Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- Researchers of Kim Il Sung University of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have developed a new kind of antiseptic which corresponds with the highest standard newly fixed by the World Health Organization and the World Food Program. The antiseptic makes it possible to keep food fresh for several days even in sultry season.
    With a sour and sweet taste, it can widely be used not only in the foodstuff industry but in public catering establishments and families as a seasoning.
    The antiseptic promotes appetite and has a good effect on the treatment of bacterial diseases of internal organs.
    It, which is easy to make, has no harmful effect on human body.

Pyongyang Essential Oils Research Center

     Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- Ten odd kinds of essential oils produced by the Pyongyang Essential Oils Research Center are popular in foreign markets. Perilla herb oil, Abies oil, pine needle oil, thuja oil, etc. have found their way to China, Germany, Netherlands and other countries of Asia and Europe.
    The center, located in Taedonggang District, Pyongyang, was founded in February Juche 73 (1984).
    It, which has competent researchers including nearly 50 doctors and masters, is equipped with hundreds of modern facilities.
    It has many production bases across the country.
    The essential oils made by the center are widely used in various fields including foodstuff, pharmaceutical and light industries.
    The natural insecticide for flowering plants, natural mosquito repellent and natural medicine for acute bronchitis and pneumonia produced by the center won patents in the country.
    The annual production capacity of the center is hundreds of tons.

DPRK Takes on New Look under Songun Politics

     Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- Socialist Korea has changed its looks day by day under leader Kim Jong Il's politics based on the great Songun idea. The Yonggwang Street extending from Pyongyang Railway Station to the Pyongyang Grand Theatre has assumed a new countenance with the 55th anniversary of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea at hand.
    The motorway has been paved again, underpasses reconstructed for convenience sake, footways covered with colored pavements, service facilities built in round, vaulted, flat, zigzag and other styles and dwelling houses face-lifted
    Over the last decade many gigantic and monumental edifices were built across the country. Among them are the Anbyon Youth Power Station, Youth Hero Motorway, Kaechon-Lake Thaesong Waterway, April 25 Hotel, Academy of Koryo Medical Science, Taedonggang Beer Factory, modern poultry farms, salterns and power stations.
    Nature-remaking projects have been carried on in an extensive way throughout the country. As a result, hundreds of thousands of hectares of land have been realigned as large standardized fields to suit the features of socialist Korea. Comprehensive mechanization of agriculture has been put on a higher stage.
    Hundreds of rural villages have made their appearance in recent years.
    Mt. Kuwol, Mt. Chilbo, Ryongmun and Songam caverns and other scenic places have turned into tourist resorts for the people.

Young Koreans in Japan Called Upon to Disclose Japan's Crimes

     Tokyo, September 2 (KNS-KCNA) -- The Federation of Young Korean Traders and Industrialists in Japan, the Korean Youth League in Japan and the Union of Korean Students in Japan issued a joint appeal to the Korean youth and students in Japan on August 31, 80 years after the massacre of Koreans during the Kanto quake of 1923. The bestial nature and national chauvinism of the Japanese reactionaries have not changed at all, although 80 years have passed since the massacre of Koreans during the quake, the appeal said, assailing the Japanese reactionaries for threatening the life and property of Koreans in Japan and creating a terror-ridden atmosphere reminding one of the incident during the quake.
    The appeal called on the youth and students, descendents of the first generation of Koreans in Japan, to turn out as one in a struggle to disclose the crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists in the past so as to vent the bitter grudge of the Koreans in Japan of the preceding generations and bring genuine happiness and future to the Koreans in Japan.

DPRK Has Bright Future

     Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- Papers here today editorially say that the reelection of Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and supreme commander of the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK, as chairman of its National Defence Commission at the First Session of the 11th Supreme People's Assembly was an expression of the unquestioned support and trust of the KPA servicemen and the people in him. They note that Kim Jong Il, with his extraordinary wisdom and tested leadership, has comprehensively developed and enriched the Juche idea founded by President Kim Il Sung and brought the Party, the state and the army associated with the whole life of Kim Il Sung to a high watermark of their development.
    Pointing out that the greatness of Kim Jong Il finds its striking manifestation in the long journey of his Songun leadership, Rodong Sinmun says:
    His unique Songun revolutionary line and mighty Songun politics saved the destiny of the country and the nation at the crossroads of life and death, made a new history of building a great prosperous powerful nation in the worst ordeals, opened up a turning phase in national reunification and remarkably enhanced the external prestige of the DPRK.
    With Kim Jong Il, who founded and has carried into practice the great Songun politics, re-elected chairman of the NDC, it has become possible to further increase the might of the Korean People's Army, a matchless strong army, put fresh muscles into the driving force of the revolution and work ceaseless miracles and exploits in socialist construction in the revolutionary soldier spirit.
    The DPRK will demonstrate its might as an impregnable fortress which no formidable enemy dare provoke as it is led by the great illustrious commander who pursues Songun politics.

DPRK Delegation Leaves for New Delhi

     Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- The delegation of the Ministry of Public Health led by Vice-Minister Choe Chang Sik left Pyongyang today to participate in the 21st meeting of health ministers in Southeast Asia of the World Health Organization to be held in New Delhi, India. It was seen off at the airport by Vice-Minister of Public Health Jon Hyon Phung.

Greetings to Emir of Qatar

     Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, on September 2 sent a message of greetings to Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, emir of Qatar, on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of its independence.      Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il received a floral basket from Colonel Moammer El Gaddafi, leader of the Great September First Revolution of the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the DPRK. Pyongyangites Congratulate Kim Jong Il on His Reelection as Chairman of NDC

     Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- At least one million Pyongyangites today held meetings to warmly congratulate leader Kim Jong Il on his reelection as chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK at the First Session of the 11th Supreme People's Assembly. The meetings were held in different places of the city including Kim Il Sung Square and the plazas of the Tower of the Juche Idea, the Monument to Party Founding, the April 25 House of Culture, the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium, the Arch of Triumph and the Three Revolution Exhibition.
    Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea Jong Ha Chol in his speech made at the meeting at Kim Il Sung Square said that Kim Jong Il's reelection as chairman of the NDC was a manifestation of the unshakable faith of the army and the people to entrust their destiny to him and follow him to the last.
    Kim Jong Il is an outstanding statesman and an extraordinary military genius as he ushered in the Songun era, a new era of the Juche revolution unprecedented in the history of the DPRK, with his outstanding political caliber and rare leadership ability for the past 40 years, he said, and continued:
    It is entirely thanks to the Songun policy pursued by Kim Jong Il that the DPRK has defended its ideology and system and vigorously advanced the Korean revolution, while achieving one victory after another in the fierce political and military confrontation with the U.S. imperialists and reacting to their hard-line policy with the toughest stand.

    Now that the U.S. does not give up its hostile policy toward the DPRK and escalates its moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK as proved by the recent six-ways talks, the DPRK will continue to increase its military deterrent force to defend the sovereignty of the country, he noted, and declared: If the U.S. imperialists ignite a war on this land again, the DPRK will deal most merciless and crushing blows at them and inflict an irretrievable defeat upon them.
    He called for thoroughly implementing the line of economic construction in the Songun era on giving priority to the development of national defence industry to glorify the DPRK as a great prosperous powerful socialist nation which boasts strong national power not only in the political, ideological and military fields but in the economic field.

    Al enterarme de una noticia alegre de que usted fue reelecto como Presidente del CDN de la RPDC en la Primera Sesion de la Oncena Legislatura de la Asamblea Popular Suprema de Corea le envio una calurosa felicitacion.
    Estoy convencido de que el hermano pueblo coreano bajo la direccion del PTC encabezado por usted lograra sin falta nuevos exitos ininterrumpidos en la causa por construir el socialismo coreano y lograr la reunificacion independiente y pacifica del pais.

Kim Jong Il recibe mensaje de felicitacion de Jiang Zemin

     Pyongyang, 4 de septiembre (ATCC) -- El Dirigente Kim Jong Il, Secretario General del Partido del Trabajo de Corea y Comandante Supremo del Ejercito Popular de Corea recibio el dia 3 un mensaje de felicitacion que Jiang Zemin, presidente del Comite Militar Central de la Republica Popular China le dirigiera, con motivo de su reeleccion como Presidente del Comite de Defensa Nacional de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea en la primera sesion de la XI legislatura de la Asamblea Popular Suprema. El mensaje senala que en los ultimos anos la tradicional amistad entre China y Corea sigue logrando un excelente desarrollo y expresa conviccion de que por esfuerzos comunes de ambas partes, las relaciones de amistad y cooperacion China-Corea continuaran consolidandose y desarrollandose ciertamente.

     Pyongyang, 4 de septiembre (ATCC) -- El gobierno de la Republica Popular China envio un cesto de flores al Dirigente Kim Jong Il en senal de felicitacion a su reeleccion como Presidente del Comite de Defensa Nacional de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea en la primera Sesion de la Oncena Legislatura de la Asamblea Popular Suprema. Wu Donghua, embajador extraordinario y plenipotenciario de la RPCh en la RPDC lo entrego el dia 3 a un funcionario coreano.

Kim Jong Il recibe cesto de flores y mensaje de felicitacion del Cuerpo de Consejeros

     Pyongyang, 4 de septiembre (ATCC) -- El Dirigente Kim Jong Il recibio un cesto de flores y un mensaje de felicitacion que le dirigiera el Cuerpo de Consejeros Economicos y Comerciales en la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea con motivo del 55 aniversario de la fundacion de esta. En representacion de este Cuerpo Gu Jinsheng, consejero economico y comercial de la embajada de la Republica Popular China en Corea los entrego el dia 4 a un funcionario correspondiente.

Comite Preparatorio Dominicano por 55 aniversario de fundacion de la RPDC

     Pyongyang, 4 de septiembre (ATCC) -- Quedo constituido el 29 de agosto en Santo Domingo el Comite Preparatorio Dominicano por el 55 aniversario de la fundacion de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea. Como presidente del Comite fue electo Fernando Sanchez Martines, presidente del Comite Dominicano de Apoyo a la Reunificacion de Corea.
    El acto discutio y decidio una orientacion de actividades del Comite.
