S. Korean Authorities' Treachery Flailed

     Pyongyang, October 22 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary brands the decision made by the south Korean authorities to additionally dispatch troops to Iraq as a product of the U.S. persistent pressure and as anti-national and anti-peace moves of pro-U.S. forces. The south Korean authorities are going to drive many young south Koreans as bullet shields of the U.S. imperialist aggression forces to please the U.S. despite the opposition and denunciation of the entire nation. Dismissing this as a dastardly act of submitting to the U.S. and an intolerable anti-national criminal act, the commentary continues:
    It is Choe Pyong Ryol, representative of the Grand National Party, and its followers who busied themselves to push the additional troop dispatch to Iraq as requested by the U.S., their master. Traitors who betrayed the nation offering great many fellow countrymen as cannon fodder of the U.S. war of aggression obsessed with greed for power and dependence on outsiders and dirty political swindlers will never be able to go scot-free.
    We can never tolerate the criminal act of driving young south Koreans to the war of aggression launched by the U.S. imperialists, the commentary says, urging the south Korean authorities to ponder over the grave consequences to be entailed by the additional troop dispatch and unconditionally withdraw the wrong anti-national decision.

DPRK Delegate Calls for Providing Environment for Sustainable Development

     Pyongyang, October 22 (KCNA) -- The most urgent issue for the full realization of the Plan of Action adopted at the World Summit on Sustainable Development is to create a political environment favorable to sustainable economic development for the developing countries, said a DPRK delegate addressing the meeting of the Second Committee of the 58th UN General Assembly on Oct. 16 when it was discussing the agenda item 94 "Environment and sustainable development". To this end, the promotion of genuine international cooperation in conformity with purposes and principles of the UN Charter is of primary importance, he said, and continued:
    Developed countries, from their historical and moral responsibility, will have to provide developing countries with financial and technical assistance for their sustainable development on a preferential basis and take active steps to write off their foreign debts. At the same time, an immediate end must be put to such actions as infringing upon the sovereignty and the right to development of other countries by imposing sanctions and blockade in pursuit of economic interests of one side and disturbing global peace and stability.
    Noting that it is essential to respect the authority of international organizations under the UN system and increase their role for meeting the challenges to sustainable development, he said that in this regard, priority should be given to water, sanitation and human settlement and joint efforts should be exerted to achieve substantial progress in the work of the Committee of the Sustainable Development.
    He said that the DPRK regards the protection of environment as a priority for economic development and has put state emphasis on it and made investment in this field.
    The DPRK will continue to actively join the international community in its efforts to achieve the goals set forth at the World Summit on Sustainable Development through the effective use of domestic resources and sustainable economic activities, he concluded.

Norwegian King on Korean Reunification

     Pyongyang, October 22 (KCNA) -- Harald V, king of Norway, when receiving credentials from the new DPRK ambassador to his country on Oct. 15, expressed hope that all the issues of the Korean peninsula including the issue of reunification would be settled peacefully. He also hoped that the friendly relations between Norway and the DPRK would extensively develop in political, economic and other fields in the interests of the two peoples.

Kim Jong Il's Songun Politics Praised

     Pyongyang, October 22 (KCNA) -- Mohamed Dioue Fofana, secretary general of the African Regional Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea who visited the DPRK, expressed full support to the Songun politics of the DPRK. As leader Kim Jong Il has pursued the Songun politics, the Korean people have bravely foiled the anti-DPRK moves of the imperialist allied forces including the U.S. to win victories, he said, and continued:
    The reality of the DPRK clearly proves the truth that a country remains shining and the nation strong when guided by a great leader.
    The reality of Afghanistan and Iraq which find themselves in such a miserable position as they are because they were weak in defence capability and the independent stand convinced me that the Songun politics of the DPRK is the most powerful political mode in the present times.
    Thanks to Kim Jong Il's Songun politics the DPRK is known as a country steering the world politics and a dignified country which nobody can dare provoke.
    It was a clear proof of the validity and vitality of the Songun politics that progressive people of the world highly praised Kim Jong Il's Songun politics as the guiding idea of the 21st century at a national seminar in New Delhi in August.
    Kim Jong Il's Songun politics is a model of independent politics in the 21st century.

Additional Troop Dispatch to Iraq Protested in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, October 22 (KCNA) -- The south Korean political circles on Oct. 19 protested against the decision of the "government" to additionally dispatch troops to Iraq, according to KBS of south Korea. Kim Song Sun, a spokesman for the Democratic Party, in a commentary issued as regards the decision said that the "government" authorities played a double-dealing role to deceive the people until it had decided the troop dispatch and urged the "government" to make public how the decision was made.
    10 "national assemblymen" from the Council of Assemblymen for Peace against War called a press conference in the head office of the Democratic Party and expressed opposition to the decision.
    Meanwhile, Im Jong Sok, "national assemblyman" from the New United Party, entered into a hunger sit-in strike that day.
    The dispatch of combat forces to Iraq, in fact, means waging a proxy war for the U.S. forces and the death of south Korean troops is inescapable and it is not helpful to the national interests in view of the division of public opinion and anti-U.S. atmosphere stirred up by the decision on the troop dispatch, he said, warning:
    I will resign as a "national assemblyman" the moment the motion calling for the troop dispatch has passed through the "National Assembly." .

New Books off the Press

     Pyongyang, October 22 (KCNA) -- Several kinds of books published by the Kyowon Sinmun of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are widely read among people. Among the books are "Collection of Legends of the Great man", "Reminiscences of Teachers" and "Teachers' Honor"(1).
    The book "Collection of Legends of the Great Man" contains 77 legends about the gifted intelligence, lofty outlook on the people and noble traits displayed by leader Kim Jong Il while studying at Kim Il Sung University and leading the Songun revolution. This book appeals to the people.
    Contained in the book "Reminiscences of Teachers" are 42 notes and anecdotes concerning education and 18 lyric poems.
    They were written about their unforgettable teachers by heroes of the Songun era -- Dr. Hyon Yong Ra, People's Athlete Jong Song Ok, writer Choe Hak Su, who is a Kim Il Sung Prize laureate, and other famous men of merits who are enjoying warm love from the fatherland and people.
    The book "Teachers' Honor"(1) edits biographies of President of Kim Il Sung University Pak Kwan O, former Principal of Yaksu Middle School Rim Yong Gyun and three other teachers.
    It is popular among teachers.

Congratulations to Azerbaijani President

     Pyongyang, October 22 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, on Oct. 19 sent a congratulatory message to Ilham Aliyev upon his election as president of Azerbaijan. The message expressed belief that the friendly relations between the two countries would continue to develop on good terms in the interests of the two peoples and wished the president great success in his responsible work for the prosperity of the country.

Credentials Presented to Kim Yong Nam

     Pyongyang, October 22 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, received credentials from Abd. Hamid Bin Haji Abd Jalil, new ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the DPRK, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall today. Present there was Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kung Sok Ung.
    After receiving credentials, the president conversed with the ambassador.

S. Korea's Moves for Additional Troop Dispatch to Iraq Assailed

     Pyongyang, October 22 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea today issued a statement branding the south Korean authorities' decision to dispatch additional troops to Iraq as a never-to-be-condoned anti-national criminal act of forcing fellow countrymen to shed blood for the U.S. military aggression and occupation and a blatant challenge to justice, peace and sovereignty. The statement bitterly denounced the decision, dismissing the on-going moves in south Korea to dispatch more troops to Iraq as a hideous pro-U.S. submissive act of driving young south Koreans as bullet shields of the U.S. imperialist aggression troops to please the U.S. and an intolerable traitorous act of infringing upon the dignity and the interests of the nation.
    The statement continued:
    The history of ordeals should not be repeated. The "rehabilitation of Iraq" and "contribution to global peace" much touted by the pro-U.S. traitorous forces in south Korea are nothing but a clumsy trick to mislead the public opinion at home and abroad and deceive the people.
    All the workers in south Korea should resolutely foil the moves for additional troop dispatch to Iraq, holding higher hammers to win the right to existence and democracy and wage a vigorous mass movement in solidarity with people from all walks of life to vote down in the general election pro-U.S. national assemblymen keen to pass the motion calling for the troop dispatch through the "National Assembly."
    The south Korean authorities should bear in mind that their moves for the additional troop dispatch to Iraq is not a way to settle the situation but will only leave them betrayed by the nation and stop the moves.

Kim Il Chol Meets Chinese Delegation

     Pyongyang, October 22 (KCNA) -- Vice-Marshal of the Korean People's Army Kim Il Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, today met and had a friendly talk with a delegation of officers in charge of diplomatic affairs of the Chinese People's Liberation Army led by Jia Xiaoning, vice-director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Defense Ministry.
    Present there were generals and officers of the KPA, the charge d'affaires ad interim and the military attache of the Chinese embassy here.

Chinese State Delegation to Visit DPRK Soon

     Pyongyang, October 23 (KCNA) -- A Chinese state delegation led by Wu Bangguo, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, will soon pay an official goodwill visit to the DPRK at the invitation of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly and the Cabinet of the DPRK.

     Pyongyang, 22 de octubre (ATCC) -- Recientemente se acondiciono de nuevo el parque popular de diversiones de Toksong en la provincia de Hamgyong del Sur, zona septentrional de Corea. Las divisiones de diversiones Infantiles, zoo-parque, lugar para el paseo en bote y descansos y juegos folkloricos y deportivos del referido parque que se extiende a la cuenca del rio Pukchong, de pintoresco paisaje, estan dotadas de todas las instalaciones de recreo y magnifica red de servicios publicos.
    En estos dias muchos trabajadores concurren a este centro de recreo para pasar agradables horas de descanso.
    Los parques y lugares de diversiones acondicionados en distintas localidades del pais siempre estan abarrotados de trabajadores, jovenes y ninos escolares que disfrutan del descanso.
    Tambien en los tiempos mas dificiles de la "Marcha Penosa" y marcha forzada, el Dirigente Kim Jong Il presto gran atencion a la construccion de parques y lugares de diversiones y la dirigio sabiamente para infundir a nuestro pueblo la firme fe en la victoria y el optimismo y asegurarle la vida llena de esperanzas.
    Por doquier, se construyeron o se remodelaron parques y lugares de recreo.
    El historico lugar Mangyongdae adquirio la fisonomia mas esplendida y los famosos montes como Ryong-ak, Taesong, Paekun y Jangsu renovaron sus aspectos con numerosos parques naturales y lugares de recreo acondicionados de nuevo.
    En los ultimos anos se construyeron centenares de parques y lugares de recreo, entre otros, el parque de Sinhung, la playa de Ryongsupho, y el parque Kongwonsan.
    Nuestro pais cuenta con cerca de 700 lugares famosos, entre estos, figuran los montes Kumgang y Myohyang, la cascada Tongrim, el lago Yonphung, el valle Sokdam, y Sinphyongkumgang.
    El Dirigente Kim Jong Il, quien siempre presta gran atencion a la vida cultural y sentimental del pueblo, al recorrer los montes Kuwol, Jongbang y Chilbo, la cascada Ulim y la cueva Song-am, se mostro muy satisfecho por estos magnificos lugares de descanso para el pueblo.
    Hoy, los trabajadores de distintos sectores, los jovenes y ninos escolares disfrutan a sus anchas de la vida cultural y sentimental en estos lugares pintorescos.

Entidad juvenil de la RPDC condena a las autoridades surcoreanas

     Pyongyang, 22 de octubre (ATCC) -- La decision de Corea del Sur sobre el envio adicional de efectivos a Irak constituye un imperdonable acto de obediencia a EE.UU. y un crimen antinacional. Asi senalo el vocero del Comite Central de la Union de la Juventud Socialista Kim Il Sung en una declaracion fechada 21 y continuo:
    El dia 18, en una "reunion para la seguridad estatal" las autoridades surcoreanas tomaron la decision de enviar adicionalmente efectivos a Irak y acordaron someter la mocion del envio de efectivos a la consideracion de la "Asamblea Nacional".
    Vencidas por la presion de EE.UU. y las fuerzas derechistas conservadoras proyanquis, las autoridades surcoreanas enviaron en abril los efectivos a Irak y volvieron a tomar esta vez semejante decision, perpetrando asi un abierto acto traidor a la nacion.
    Condenamos categoricamente a las autoridades surcoreanas que gastando hasta el dinero cobrado de los habitantes surcoreanos lanzan los compatriotas al campo de guerra a donde hasta EE.UU., autor de la guerra de agresion no desea enviar sus efectivos y lo estigmatizamos como acto de obediencia a EE.UU. y de servilismo a las grandes potencias.
    Las autoridades surcoreanas deben reflexionar de las consecuencias que emanaran del envio adicional de efectivos y retirar incondicionalmente esa injusta "decision" antinacional.
    No hay motivo alguno por el cual los jovenes surcoreanos derramen sangre y mueran en el territorio de otro pais apartado a decenas de miles de ri del suyo, sirviendo de parabala a los agresores yanquis.
    Los jovenes y estudiantes de Corea del Sur no deben dejarse enganar por la artimana enganosa de los imperialistas norteamericanas y las fuerzas entreguistas sino levantarse con valentia en la lucha contra el envio de efectivos.
    Exhortamos calurosamente a los jovenes, estudiantes, los partidos, agrupaciones y habitantes de distintos sectores de Corea del Sur a rechazar categoricamente el envio adicional de efectivos que contraviene a la dignidad y los intereses de la nacion y desplegar energicamente el movimiento masivo para lograr la eliminacion en las "elecciones generales" del proximo ano de todos los "parlamentarios" que maniobran locamente para enviar adicionalmente los efectivos a Irak en desacato a la voluntad de la poblacion.

Rey de Noruega se refiere a la reunificacion de Corea

     Pyongyang, 22 de octubre (ATCC) --El dia 15, el rey de Noruega, Harald 5, en la ceremonia de recibir las cartas credenciales del nuevo embajador extraordinario y plenipotenciario de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, que se acreditara en su pais, enfatizo que desea la solucion pacifica del problema de la reunificacion y otros problemas de la Peninsula Coreana. Tambien expreso su esperanza de que las relaciones de amistad entre Noruega y Corea se desarrollen con gran amplitud en varios sectores de la politica, la economia, etc., conforme a los intereses de ambos pueblos.

Delegado de RPDC se refiere al desarrollo economico sostenido

     Pyongyang, 22 de octubre (ATCC) -- Al hacer uso de la palabra el dia 16 durante el debate sobre la agenda No.94 "El medio ambiente y el desarrollo sostenido" en la reunion de la segunda comision del 58 periodo de sesiones de la Asamblea General de la ONU, el delegado de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea senalo que para ejecutar cabalmente el plan de accion aprobado en la Cumbre Mundial sobre el desarrollo sostenido se presenta como tarea primordial la creacion del ambiente politico favorable al desarrollo economico sostenido de los paises en vias de desarrollo. Subrayo que para eso, es preciso, ante todo, fomentar la autentica cooperacion internacional que conviene al objeto y el principio de la Carta de la ONU, y continuo:
    Los paises desarrollados, partiendo del deber historico y moral, deben asegurar preferentemente los fondos y tecnologias necesarios al desarrollo sostenido de los paises subdesarrollados, tomar activamente medidas para invalidar las deudas externas y suspender inmediatamente los actos de atentar la independencia y el derecho a explotar de otros paises por medio de la sancion y el bloqueo para el provecho economico de una parte y de perturbar la paz y la estabilidad del mundo.
    Para superar los desafios que impiden el desarrollo sostenido es indispensable respetar la autoridad de los organismos del sistema de la ONU y elevar mas su papel. Actualmente se debe prestar la atencion principal al agua, la higiene y la residencia fija de seres humanos y hacer esfuerzos comunes para que se logre un resultado real en las labores de la comision de desarrollo sostenido para eso.
    La RPDC presento la proteccion ambiental como una condicion primordial del desarrollo economico y presta atencion e inversion estatal a ella.
    La RPDC tambien en el futuro se incorporara activamente a los esfuerzos de la comunidad internacional por lograr la meta presentada por la Cumbre Mundial sobre el desarrollo sostenido, a traves del uso eficaz de los recursos domesticos y las actividades economicas sostenidas.

Denuncia envio adicional de efectivos de Sur de Corea a Irak

     Pyongyang, 22 de octubre (ATCC) -- El diario "Rodong Sinmun", en un comentario individual de hoy, condena a las autoridades surcoreanas que decidieron enviar adicionalmente los efectivos a Irak estigmatizandolo de un producto de la presion persistente de EE.UU. y de las maquinaciones antinacionales y anti-paz de las fuerzas proyanquis de Sudcorea. El comentarista senala:
    Pese a la oposicion y la condenacion de toda la nacion coreana, las autoridades sudcoreanas, al lisonjear a EE.UU, intentan inmolar a numerosos jovenes y adultos de Corea del Sur como carne de canon de los yanquis, lo cual es un sucio acto de sumision a EE.UU. y un imperdonable crimen antinacional.
    El representante del "Partido Hannara" Choe Pyong Ryol y sus seguidores actuan con frenesi para realizar el "envio adicional de los efectivos a Irak" segun la demanda de su amo EE.UU.. No podran quedar impunes los sucios estafadores politicos que pretenden sacrificar a numerosos jovenes y adultos de la nacion como carne de canon de la guerra de agresion de EE.UU. al enloquecerse de la ambicion del poder y de la dependencia de las fuerzas extranjeras.
    Nosotros, como los integrantes de la nacion homogenea, no podemos perdonar jamas tal acto criminal. Las autoridades surcoreanas deben reflexionar sobre la grave consecuencia que emane del envio adicional de los efectivos a Irak y retirar incondicionalmente la injusta "decision" antinacional.
