Rodong Sinmun on Immutable Idea of Korean Nation
Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- The Korean nation has become convinced through the struggle in a little more than 3 years after the adoption of the historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration that the idea of "By our nation itself" is, indeed, a great banner and an unchangeable idea which all the fellow countrymen in the north and the south of Korea should hold high in the struggle for independent reunification, says Rodong Sinmun in a signed article today.
The article further says:
The basic spirit of the declaration is "By our nation itself" and this idea is a motive force that enables the Korean nation to fulfil its responsibility and role in the reunification movement.
This idea is full of pride in the character of the homogeneous nation with a time-honored history and the spirit of national independence to achieve independent reunification by the united efforts of the nation itself. It is a hard fact that the frozen minds melted in a moment after 50 odd years and the blood and terrestrial veins of the nation are being connected into one thanks to the idea. All the Koreans should regard it as the greatest honor to contribute to reunification and plunge themselves into the vast flow toward independent reunification to dedicate to the cause of reunification their utmost energy, ability and talent. Then the driving force of reunification will grow a hundred times stronger and the internal force for the cause of the country's reunification will gain in strength beyond measure.
The idea is a source of revitalization of the reunification movement. This is proved by the dramatic events that have occurred in the reunification movement waged by all the compatriots in both parts of the country under the uplifted banner of "By our nation itself." The inter-Korean relations which had remained in confrontation for more than half a century are now being converted into relations of "By our nation itself," the relations of cooperation.. The substantial reunification process is being accelerated through dialogues and contacts in various fields, political, economic and cultural, including the north-south ministerial talks.
Today the idea of "By our nation itself" serves as the banner of the country's reunification, the guiding pole of victory, as it inspires the reunification movement while fully displaying its validity and vitality.
Japan Hit for Toeing U.S. Line
Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- Japan has quite often heard the international public call it a "stooge" and a "political dwarf" of the United States for zealously toeing the U.S. line.
Despite this bitter insult from the international community Japan has not yet dropped a bad habit of toeing the U.S. line.
Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary says:
What matters is that this zealous pro-U.S. policy of Japan is reckless as it is driving the situation on the Korean peninsula to the brink of war.
Not a few countries are guarding against their involvement in the U.S. moves or reluctant to favour them. But it is only Japan that gets zealous in supporting the U.S. moves to lay an international siege to the DPRK.
Branding Japan's act as a dangerous move to build in Asia a structure of confrontation between the DPRK and Asian countries led by the U.S. and Japan, the commentary observes:
Japan is bringing disgrace to itself as a dialogue partner by zealously supporting the U.S. moves against the DPRK.
The DPRK bitterly dislikes to deal with those countries which blindly follow a big country, reading its face, bereft of their own view.
Japan's reckless act of toeing the U.S. line will bring nothing but disgrace and isolation to Japan.
KCNA Report on Japanese's Attempted Drug Smuggling
Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- The KCNA today released the following report:
Yoshiaki Sawada, department director of the Enterprise Co. Ltd. of Japan, is now under investigation by a competent institution for his attempted drug smuggling in violation of the DPRK laws and international law. He had entered the DPRK on Oct. 14 under the pretext of trade.
The preliminary results of the investigation confirmed that he planned to bribe a north Korean into buying drugs from a third country and smuggle them into Japan on board "Mangyongbong-92" at the instruction of his "master."
This case occurred at a time when the hostile forces in Japan are calling for checking the ship's call at the Japanese port, dubbing it a "ship for illegal remittance", "ship transporting missile parts" and "spy ship" in a bid to push the DPRK-Japan relations to the worst state. Clear is the political purpose sought through the case.
He will be sternly dealt with by a relevant law when the truth of the case is proved.
