Celebrations Held in Romania and Guinea

     Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- A seminar, lectures and film shows were held by the Romanian Communist Party and the Romanian Workers' Association and the Kim Il Sung Institute of Agricultural Science in Guinea on Dec. 14 and 15 on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's assumption of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army and the 86th birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk, an anti-Japanese war hero. The general secretary of the Central Committee and members of the leadership of the party and the chairman of the association in their speeches at the seminar and the lecture said 12 years since Kim Jong Il's assumption of the supreme commandership of the KPA were a historic period during which he has made ceaseless efforts to build up invincible military power.
    Lectures titled "HE Kim Jong Il who has defended socialism with invincible armed forces" and "Kim Jong Suk is always alive in the hearts of the people" were given by the director and deputy director of the Guinean institute. The lecturers noted that Kim Jong Il has trained the People's Army into an army strong in ideology and faith and loyal to the socialist cause and augmented the military power of the country, inspecting frontline units.
    Korean films "We will hold the fatherly leader in higher esteem" and "The Korean People's Army, steel-strong ranks" were screened on the occasions.

Lecture and Seminar Held in France

     Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- A lecture and seminar were held in France on December 12 on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's assumption of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army and the 86th birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk, an anti-Japanese war hero. Edmond Jouve, president of the Council of the European Society for the Study of the Juche Idea, in his lecture on the Juche idea noted that Kim Jong Il created the unique mode of the Songun politics based on the Juche idea and strengthened the KPA into an invincible army, thus firmly defending the sovereignty and dignity of the DPRK.
    The DPRK built a prosperous, powerful and independent state by embodying the principle of the Juche idea that man is the master of everything and decides everything in all fields of social life including politics and economy, he said.
    The lecture was followed by speeches of students of doctoral institute of Paris University No. 5. They asserted that the nature of the nuclear issue on the Korean peninsula has been distorted and misrepresented by media of the West including the United States.
    Given the DPRK stand for the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, the nuclear crisis could be settled peacefully through dialogue only if the U.S. expresses its will to drop its hostile policy toward the DPRK, they noted, and stressed that it is important for the international community to have a correct understanding of the nature of the nuclear issue and show a strong sense responsibility to seek a fair solution to the issue.

Japan's Intention to Stifle DPRK Assailed

     Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries invited delegates of 14 countries including the United States and Australia to Tokyo recently and held the so-called "Asian Conference on Non-proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction" in a bid to lay an international siege to the DPRK. This comes under fire by papers today.
    Rodong Sinmun in a signed commentary observes: This move of Japan is a wanton violation of the U.N. Charter and international law and a serious infringement upon the DPRK's sovereignty as it was aimed to suffocate the DPRK through an "international siege" and economic sanctions.
    The Japanese reactionaries' moves for an international siege and blockade against the DPRK are deliberate and premeditated provocative ones to aggravate the DPRK-Japan confrontation and ignite a new war on the Korean peninsula. Ever since the outbreak of the second nuclear crisis they have never missed the chance to bluster that Japan would never allow the DPRK's nuclear program and if it does not yield to their demand, they would take additional "hard line measures." They are now being put into practice.
    The people and army of the DPRK will take toughest retaliatory measures the moment it judges its sovereignty has been infringed upon by Japan's blockade operation.
    There is no guarantee that Japan's blockade will not lead to such a serious situation as a war. In case a war breaks out, it will bring unpredictably disastrous consequences.
    Japan should stop at once such foolish moves to suffocate the DPRK through an "international siege" and economic sanctions.
    Minju Joson in a signed commentary warns the DPRK will never overlook Japan's reckless attempt.

Celebrations Held

     Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- Meetings were held by working people's organizations on Dec. 22 on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's assumption of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army. Ryom Sun Gil, chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK), Sung Sang Sop, chairman of the Central Committee of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea, and others made reports to be followed by speeches.
    Reporters and speakers said that Kim Jong Il's assumption of the KPA supreme commandership was the greatest fortune for the sun's nation and an event of great significance in defending the man-centered socialist system and successfully accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche.
    The immortal revolutionary exploits performed by Kim Jong Il, a legendary hero of Mt. Paektu, will shine long with the history of the country as he most strikingly demonstrated the dignity and power of Juche Korea with his great Songun politics, they noted.
    They called upon all the people to unite closer around the Workers' Party of Korea and make energetic efforts to bring earlier the prosperity of the country and the final victory of the revolutionary cause of Juche with the might of Songun, highly honored to be blessed with the illustrious leaders generation after generation with having Kim Jong Il at the helm of the revolution.
    The meetings were attended by Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, senior officials of the working people's organizations, workers, members of the GFTUK, agricultural workers and youth and students in Pyongyang.

International Solidarity with Korean People's Cause of Reunification

     Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- This year witnessed a worldwide movement for solidarity with the Korean people in the cause of national reunification. Works of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il indicating the shortcut to national reunification were widely published in foreign countries.
    Kim Il Sung's work "10-Point Programme of the Great Unity of the Whole Nation for the Reunification of the Country", Kim Jong Il's work "Let Us Reunify the Country Independently and Peacefully through the Great Unity of the Entire Nation" and other works authored by them were brought out in booklet by the Al Maorifa Publishing and Distribution House of Yemen, the Futra Publishing House of the Czech Republic, the Imprenta Federal Publishing House of Chile, the For Peace and Socialism-Communist Workers' Party of Finland and many other publishing houses, political parties and organizations in the world.
    Many media of the world, leaders of states, political parties and organizations, public figures and international and regional organizations expressed full support and solidarity with the Korean people in their efforts to reunify the country under the banner of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration. Leading newspapers, news agencies and radios of more than 80 countries positively supported the Korean people's firm will to reunify the country through national cooperation under the title "the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration is a milestone of reunification" and others.
    Voices expressing solidarity with the Korean people in their cause of national reunification grew stronger on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of the publication of the joint declaration and during the month of international solidarity with the Korean people.
    During this month nearly 200 political parties and organizations held different functions at which speakers hailed the June 15 joint declaration as the only milestone of Korea's reunification.
    International meetings including the meeting of the Executive Committee of the World Peace Council and the 7th International Seminar of Progressive Parties on "Some Issues of the Revolution in Latin America" adopted resolutions and statements demanding the immediate withdrawal of the U.S. troops from south Korea so that the Korean people may reunify their country independently and peacefully by their concerted efforts.
    Heads of state and government and party leaders of various countries including the presidents of Indonesia and Equatorial Guinea and the Thai prime minister reiterated their invariable support to the Korean people's efforts for the independent reunification of the country.

Struggle in S. Korea against Decision on Additional Troop Dispatch to Iraq

     Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- South Korean organizations reportedly staged an action on Dec. 18 against the decision of additional troop dispatch to Iraq. The People's Action Opposing Troop Dispatch held a rally in front of the building of "Kukmin Bank" with presidium members of the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification who were on a hunger sit-down.
    The speakers at the rally said they would check troop dispatch by forming "a human chain," if necessary, contending that the unit to be sent to Iraq "would be little different from an occupation force."
    A joint declaration was published there.
    Saying it was clear to everyone that the Iraqi war was a war of aggression for the military and economic interests of the United States, the declaration noted: To send troops there means to become an accomplice of the U.S. in its occupation policy and an enemy of the Iraqi people.
    The south Korean people join the world peace-loving people in strongly demanding the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq and will not allow troop dispatch there, it declared.
    Meanwhile, other organizations including the Reunification Solidarity stated they would join the presidium members of the South Headquarters of Pomminryon in the hunger sit-down.

Great Champion of Peace on Korean Peninsula

     Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- The year Juche 92(2003) is coming to a close with the situation on the Korean peninsula ever growing tense. This year the U.S. administration has made all desperate efforts to start another Korean war by creating a new nuclear crisis.
    Clamoring about "counter-measure" and "deterrent", the U.S. bellicose forces have amassed huge aggression forces including an aircraft carrier flotilla, guided missile cruisers and strategic and tactical aircraft in and around south Korea.
    They have also increased the danger of war by staging the joint wartime reinforcement exercises and many other military manoeuvres dubbed "Foal Eagle", "Ulji Focus Lens", etc. with the United States in south Korea alone.
    The U.S. warhawks, who had closely examined, through the Iraqi war, the feasibility and the effectiveness of their plan to start another Korean war, spread rumors that north Korea might be the next target of the punishment of terror and a war would break out on the Korean peninsula at the beginning of autumn.
    They have tried to inveigle even the United Nations and its allies into their efforts for putting international pressure on the DPRK and blockading it.
    But all of the U.S. aggressive plans have been smashed and the peace and security of the Korean peninsula defended by leader Kim Jong Il.
    When the U.S. administration unilaterally killed the DPRK-U.S. framework agreement, the DPRK issued a statement of the government declaring its withdrawal from the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.
    Once the U.S. stopped shipments of heavy oil to the DPRK, the government immediately unsealed the frozen nuclear facilities and removed monitoring cameras.
    The U.S. efforts for pressurizing the DPRK have totally been foiled by its strong war deterrent forces.
    The peace and security of the Korean peninsula are being ensured creditably under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.

"Complete Collection of Kim Il Sung's Works" Vol. 52 Published

     Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- The 52nd volume of "Complete Collection of Kim Il Sung's Works", a library of the immortal Juche idea, was published. It carries famous works of President Kim Il Sung in a chronological order. It contains over 30 works such as speeches, concluding speeches and talks Kim Il Sung made from June to September of Juche 62 (1973).
    These works were published in the historic period when the Korean people were faced with the urgent tasks to bring about a radical turn in all fields of socialist construction under the uplifted banner of the three revolutions and wage a more vigorous struggle to shatter the moves of the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean authorities to perpetuate the division of the nation and achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.
    The President in his work "Some Tasks in Improving Present Party Ideological Work" underscored the importance and significance of the role of the ideological work in successfully carrying out the socialist cause and put forward tasks to improve the Party ideological work as required by the developing reality.
    In various works such as "Concluding Speech Made at the 7th Plenary Meeting of the 5th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea" he advanced a policy on powerfully accelerating the socialist economic construction to attain the main goals of the 6-Year Plan and further augment the economic might of the country.
    In his works including "Let Us Prevent a National Partition and Reunify the Country" and "On the Five-Point Policy for National Reunification" the President referred to the five-point policy of national reunification the Workers' Party of Korea and the government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea newly clarified at home and abroad.
    In "On Some Tasks before the Officials of Chongryon", "Compatriots in Japan Should Positively Struggle for the Reunification of the Country and Democratic National Rights" and other works he clarified policies on strengthening and developing the movement of Koreans in Japan.
    This collection also contains works dealing with theoretical and practical issues arising in carrying out the Korean revolution and the global cause of independence.

Congratulations to Kim Jong Il

     Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il received a congratulatory letter from the military attaches' corps here on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of his assumption of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army. The letter was handed today to KPA Vice-Marshal Kim Il Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, by Abdullah Hamidi Benam, military attache of the Iranian embassy here who is doyen of the corps.

Wreaths Laid before Bust of Kim Jong Suk

     Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- the diplomatic corps and the military attaches' corps here laid wreaths before the bust of Kim Jong Suk, an anti-Japanese war hero, at the Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery on Mt. Taesong on Dec. 23 on the occasion of her 86th birth anniversary. They paid silent tribute to her after laying the wreaths with profound reverence for Kim Jong Suk who was boundlessly loyal to President Kim Il Sung and performed immortal exploits for the sacred cause for the country's liberation and its eternal prosperity, weathering out the stern tempest of the revolution.
    Written on the ribbon of the wreaths were the letters "The revolutionary exploits of anti-Japanese war hero Comrade Kim Jong Suk will be immortal!"

Greetings to 4th Congress of "United Russia"

     Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea sent a message of greetings to the 4th Congress of the All-Russia Party "United Russia" on Dec. 22. The message said that the 4th party congress would be an important and significant event in social and political life of Russia.
    Expressing the belief that the friendly relations between the two parties would contribute to further strengthening the traditional DPRK-Russia relations of friendship, the message wished the All-Russia Party great success in the work of the 4th congress.

9th Military Working-level Talks Held

     Panmunjom, December 23 (KCNA) -- The 9th north-south military working-level talks were held in the area of the south side today. The talks adopted and effectuated an agreement on the establishment and management of check points in the areas under the control of the north and the south of Korea which was drafted through a series of contacts and the exchange of documents between the two sides.
    Reflected in the agreement are the duty, establishment and management principle of the check points, the method of solving the problems and other concrete matters arising in ensuring security and passage in the areas under the control of the north and the south.
    The agreement provides a legal guarantee for ensuring security on railways and roads in those areas and a smooth passage of persons, rolling stock and vehicles.

Gran defensor de la paz de la Peninsula Coreana

     Pyongyang, 23 de diciembre (ATCC) -- En medio de la exacerbacion de la situacion de la Peninsula Coreana va a expirar el ano 92 (2003) de la Era Juche. Durante este ano la administracion norteamericana maniobro freneticamente para crear un nuevo peligro nuclear y desatar la segunda guerra coreana.
    Las fuerzas belicosas norteamericanas, al vociferar de la "disposicion" y la "detencion", concentraron enormes fuerzas agresivas incluyendo la flotilla de portaaviones, cruceros de misiles teledirigidos y aviones estrategicos y tacticos en el Sur de Corea y su contorno.
    En esta parte libraron sucesivamente el simulacro conjunto "Aguilucho", ejercicio conjunto de refuerzo para el tiempo de guerra y el simulacro "Ulji Focus Lens" aumentando asi el peligro de guerra.
    Las fuerzas belicosas norteamericanas, luego de comprobar concentradamente en la guerra iraqui la realidad y la eficacia del plan de provocacion de la guerra coreana, hicieron correr el rumor de que el proximo blanco del "castigo merecido al terrorismo puede ser Norte de Corea" y que "con el termino del verano y comienzo del otono se desatara la guerra coreana" e incorporaron la ONU y los paises aliados para arreciar una ofensiva de presion internacional y el bloqueo contra la RPDC.
    Pero, el Dirigente Kim Jong Il frustro a su debido tiempo los intentos de agresion de los yanquis y defendio seguramente la paz y la seguridad de la Peninsula Coreana.
    La RPDC expreso la posicion decisiva al publicar la declaracion gubernamental de retirarse del Tratado de No Proliferacion Nuclear cuando la administracion norteamericana anulo unilateral y completamente el Acuerdo Basico con la RPDC y demostro la voluntad, el coraje sin par y la osadia al iniciar inmediatamente el trabajo de eliminar el sello y la camara de observacion en las instalaciones nucleares congeladas frente a la interrupcion del ofrecimiento del aceite pesado.
    Este ano, la ofensiva de presion de EE.UU. sobre Corea se frustro completamente por la potente fuerza de detencion de guerra de la RPDC.
    Bajo la direccion del Dirigente Kim Jong Il, hoy la paz y la seguridad de la Peninsula Coreana se preservan firmemente.

Editado tomo 52 de las "Obras Completas de Kim Il Sung"

     Pyongyang, 23 de diciembre (ATCC) -- Se dio a luz el tomo 52 de las "Obras completas de Kim Il Sung", ciclo de la inmortal idea Juche que recopila sistematica y globalmente por orden cronologico sus obras clasicas. Este tomo recoge 30 trabajos del Presidente, entre otros, discursos, discursos resumen y charlas, hechos durante el periodo de junio a septiembre del 62 (1973) de la Era Juche.
    Fue un periodo historico en que al pueblo coreano le incumbian las tareas urgentes para producir un gran cambio en todos los dominios de la construccion socialista con la bandera de las tres revoluciones en alto y desarrollar por iniciativa propia la lucha por la reunificacion independiente y pacifica de la patria al dar al traste con las maniobras de los imperialistas norteamericanos y las autoridades surcoreanas encaminadas a eternizar la division nacional.
    En la obra "Algunas tareas para mejorar y fortalecer el trabajo ideologico del partido en la epoca actual" el Presidente volvio a aclarar la importancia y el significado del papel de la labor ideologica en el cumplimiento exitoso de la causa socialista e indico las tareas para mejorar y fortalecer la labor ideologica del partido conforme a la demanda de la realidad en desarrollo.
    Tambien, en la obra "Discurso resumen pronunciado en el VII pleno del V periodo del Comite Central del Partido del Trabajo de Corea (PTC)" y otras presento la orientacion de conquistar con anticipacion las importantes cotas del plan sexenal mediante la aceleracion dinamica de la construccion economica del socialismo para fortalecer mas el poderio economico del pais.
    En "Evitemos la division de la nacion y reunifiquemos la patria", "Sobre la orientacion de cinco puntos para la reunificacion de la patria" y otras obras esta dilucidada esta orientacion dada a conocer nuevamente al interior y el exterior de Corea por el PTC y el gobierno de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea.
    Tambien, en las obras "Sobre algunas tareas que se presentan ante los trabajadores de la Asociacion General de Coreanos Residentes en Japon", "Los coreanos residentes en Japon deben luchar activamente por la reunificacion de la patria y el derecho nacional democratico" y otras, el Presidente aclaro las orientaciones para fortalecer y desarrollar el movimiento de los coreanos residentes en Japon.
    Este libro sintetiza los problemas teorico-practicos que se presentan en el cumplimiento de la Revolucion Coreana y la causa de verificacion de la independencia en el mundo.
