The statement strongly denounced the U.S. for its hostile policy toward the DPRK and expressed firm solidarity with the Korean people in their just struggle to implement the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.
The France-Korea Friendship Association in a statement released on Jan. 8 expressed full support to the DPRK in its efforts to fulfil its tasks to build a great prosperous powerful socialist nation, fully agreeing with the view expressed in the joint New Yeareditorial that the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK suffered a fiasco in the year 2003 in face of the Songun policy of leader Kim Jong Il.

Heightened Vigilance against Japan Called for
Pyongyang, January 20 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries are contemplating a new "defence program" and are conducting an opinion poll on the revision of the constitution of Japan. This reveals the aggressive nature of Japan turning to the Right and heading for its militarization, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary.
In the new "defence program" the Japanese reactionaries called for establishing a posture for immediate counter-action to defend their territory and founding a "central force for immediate counteraction" for "cooperation in UN peace-keeping operation". This is nothing but a plan for overseas attack and war under the changed conditions and circumstances.
The Japanese reactionaries are considering defining the participation in the "UN peace-keeping operation" as the major task of the "Self-Defence Forces" in the new program. This is prompted by their intention to dispatch SDF to any part of the world and officially push forward its overseas military operation.
The U.S. is now escalating its war of aggression worldwide under the pretext of the "war on terrorism" and urging Japan to render active military support to it. Japan is taking this situation as a golden opportunity for revising the article in the present constitution which bans war and going in for overseas aggression without hindrance.
Moreover, the Japanese reactionaries are stepping up military preparations for overseas aggression without restriction under the pretext of "nuclear and missile threats" from the DPRK, the commentary says, contending that a strong military shield and countermeasure are the best option to retaliate against Japan's dangerous military actions.
U.S. Troops' Group Violence against S. Koreans Denounced
Pyongyang, January 20 (KCNA) -- U.S. troops stationed in south Korea recently committed a chain of group violence against citizens in Pusan and robbed them of their properties. A signed commentary of Minju Joson Tuesday carried in this regard brands the U.S. imperialists as a group of robbers as their job is to commit murder, violence and plunder.
Various parts of south Korea are swept by waves of anti-U.S. candlelight rallies of people from all walks of life, the commentary says, and goes on: This is an eruption of the pent-up wrath and indignation of the south Koreans who have suffered unspeakable death and disgrace at the hands of the U.S. troops in south Korea for nearly 60 years.
As long as the U.S. troops remain in south Korea the south Koreans can not be free from sufferings and pain any more than a village can live in peace unless a wolf is caught.
Anti-U.S. torches should be raised high. This is the only way for the south Koreans to protect their lives and defend security.
Friday Rally in S. Korea
Pyongyang, January 20 (KCNA) -- The 9th Friday anti-U.S., anti-war rally for peace was reportedly held in front of the U.S. embassy in Seoul on Jan. 16 under the sponsorship of the Headquarters of the Movement against the U.S. and War and for the Conclusion of a Non-aggression Treaty between the North and the U.S. to voice protest against the U.S. scheme to deploy long-range strategic bombers in Guam.
Speakers at the rally recalled that the U.S. Pacific Air Force Commander on Jan. 13 stated a plan to deploy long-range strategic bombers in Guam was under consideration for securing military deterrent in the Asia-Pacific region to make up for the U.S. troops
presence in Iraq and postwar measures there. This move shows that the U.S. is framing terrible plots behind the scene to bring a storm of a nuclear war on the Korean peninsula, though it is talking a lot in public about "dialogue," they noted.
The resolution read at the rally said the role of the U.S. Guam base was to throw the U.S. air force promptly into the Korean peninsula in case of contingency and the deployment of the strategic bombers there was a criminal arms buildup for bringing dark clouds of war.
The war moves of the U.S. imperialists would be frustrated and peace and independent reunification be achieved certainly by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation, it said.
Rodong Sinmun on Our Nation-First Spirit
Pyongyang, January 20 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in an article underscores the need to definitely realize national cooperation
to accomplish the cause of the country's reunification, saying our nation-first spirit here serves as a mighty ideological and moral weapon.
The article says:
The slogan "Let us pave a wide avenue for independent reunification through national cooperation under the banner of our nation-first spirit!" which was set forth in the joint New Year editorial of the papers of the Party, the army and the youth league is a judicious one reflecting the nation's desire and realistic demand.
Our nation-first spirit is a mental source whereby to tighten the blood ties of the nation and inspire its self-respect so that our nation can take a concerted action in achieving the cause of reunification and approach all the matters in view of its interests.
The primary issue in realizing national cooperation is to unify the desire and will of the nation divided by outside forces for over half a century.
The Korean nation has created and developed brilliant culture and excellent traditions for 50 centuries with indomitable spirit of independence, brave disposition, extraordinary wisdom and talent, rich emotion and noble morality. All the compatriots should wage a persistent and strenuous patriotic struggle for reunification with the conviction that the history of our nation was and is proud and will shine more brilliantly tomorrow.
Our nation-first spirit serves as an ideological and moral foundation for the nation to join efforts in solving the issue of reunification with the stance and posture that our nation is the best in the world. It is most essential today for all the members of the nation to give priority to the nation and pool efforts of the nation from the stance that their nation is the best. The issue of reunification can be solved in conformity with the will and interests of the nation only when we give priority to the nation and rely on its strength.
Our nation-first spirit, which boosts pride in being the Korean nation and braces up national self-respect, is a powerful weapon helping vigorously advance the movement for the country's reunification with bolstered national cooperation.
Bolton's Provocative Remarks Assailed
Pyongyang, January 20 (KCNA) -- U.S. Undersecretary of State Bolton recently said that in case no progress is made in solving the nuclear issue by the end of March Washington will pursue its hard-line policy which calls for fully implementing the plan for the prevention of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in north Korea and referring its issue to the UNSC, etc. This represents the official stand of the Bush administration on the relations between the DPRK and the U.S. as his remarks disclosed Washington's criminal intention to accuse the DPRK of producing nuclear weapons and stifle it after laying an international siege to it, says Minju Joson in a singed commentary today.
The news analyst continues:
The U.S. set even a deadline in this ultimatum given to the DPRK. This clearly indicates that its hostile policy toward the DPRK remains unchanged and it has reached a more frantic stage.
The U.S. recent escalation of high-handed military posture and pressure upon the DPRK is nothing but a pipe dream intended to orchestrate on the Korean peninsula what happened in some Mid-east countries, pursuant to the logic of strength.
The U.S. is expecting something to happen in the DPRK equating it with those Mid-east countries. This is a big blunder.
The DPRK has strong pluck as its cause is just and as it has reliable self-defensive means which would guarantee the cause and, therefore, it will never tolerate any unjust pressure and high-handed practices against it.
U.S. Escalates Korean War Preparations
Pyongyang, January 20 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists are persistently seeking another Korean war.
They, who already based Striker armored cars and Shadow 200 unmanned tactical reconnaissance aircraft in south Korea, have brought there more sophisticated weapons tested through a real war.
They also plan to deploy high-tech weapons including GBU-28 laser guided bombs capable of striking underground targets and Smart bombs in south Korea for the emergency on the Korean peninsula.
Their espionage activities, military manoeuvres and arms buildup are steadily keeping the peninsula in the danger of war.
The United States, with operation plans to stifle the Democratic People's Republic of Korea by force of arms and colonize the whole of Korea, has committed various kinds of military provocations including the armed spy ship Pueblo incident, large reconnaissance plane EC-121 incident and the Panmunjom incident.
Over the past decade it has committed more than 2,000 grave military provocations, massed huge armed forces of three services on and around the peninsula and frantically staged military exercises.
In 1994, it brought new-type Patriot missiles to south Korea from the mainland for the restart of the Team Spirit joint military manoeuvres, and infiltrated OH-58A/C surveillance and spy helicopter belonging to the U.S. army deep into the airspace of the DPRK.
In the late 1990s it staged 99 Ulji Focus Lens joint military exercises in a war atmosphere, even making public Operation Plan 5027, a war scenario for another Korean war. It also additionally deployed AC-130 ground attack aircraft and FA-18 fighter-bombers in south Korea, rendering the situation of the peninsula extremely acute.
Last year it perpetrated several grave provocations in the West Sea of Korea and committed hundreds of aerial espionage missions with the mobilization of strategic and tactical reconnaissance planes.
The U.S. ceaseless war moves bringing the inter-Korean relations back to those of tension and confrontation are a vicious challenge to the desire of all the Korean people and peace-loving people across the world.
