     Pyongyang, January 25 (KCNA) -- The joint New Year editorial of the newspapers of the Workers' Party of Korea, the Korean People's Army and the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League of the DPRK is supported in different countries. The National Council of the Lebanese Communist Party in a statement on Jan. 13 said that the DPRK has achieved brilliant victory in the struggle to defend the sovereignty of the country under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea and instilled great strength and courage into the world peace-loving people last year.
    Noting that the WPK set forth militant tasks to be fulfilled by the Korean people this year to achieve great victory on the three fronts of politics and ideology, anti-imperialism and military affairs and economy and science and attain the reunification of the country and peace on the Korean peninsula, the statement reiterated the council's solidarity with the Korean people in their struggle to achieve the reunification of the country and peace on the Korean peninsula.
    Genaro Ledesma Izquieta, chairman of the People's Front of Workers, Peasants and Students of Peru, issued a statement titled "We extend full support to the reunification of Korea" on Jan. 11.
    He said that the slogan "Let us pave a wide avenue for independent reunification through national cooperation under the banner of our nation-first spirit!" set forth in the joint New Year editorial is the one all the Koreans in the north and the south and overseas should hold aloft with firm faith and optimism.
    Noting that the cause of national reunification, the greatest desire of the Korean people, is undergoing a severe test due to the U.S. military moves, the statement stressed that a widespread movement should be waged for the reunification of Korea worldwide.

Implementation of Appeal Called for

     Pyongyang, January 25 (KCNA) -- An Kyong Ho, chairman of the North Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon), in a statement on Jan. 24 said that the North Headquarters of Pomminryon would always take the lead in the struggle to smash the U.S. imperialists' every war move and achieve the country's independent reunification under the uplifted banner of the Korean nation-first spirit. Expressing his strong support to the appeal made by the joint meeting of the government, political parties and organizations of the DPRK to all Koreans to turn out as one in the anti-U.S., anti-war struggle, he underscored the need to take practical actions to build the Korean nation's confrontation with the U.S. in order to decisively frustrate the U.S. moves for a nuclear war and defend the sovereignty of the country and the nation and peace.
    Noting that the Songun politics is patriotic politics for defending the Korean nation, as it is aimed to protect its well-being and peace, he called on the 70 million Koreans to firmly support and defend the Songun politics which helps avert a nuclear holocaust on the Korean peninsula and guarantee lasting peace.
    He expressed belief that all the reunification movement organizations in the south and overseas supporting the June 15 joint declaration would positively respond to the appeal of the joint meeting for waging a vigorous anti-U.S., anti-war struggle to defend the dignity and destiny of the Korean nation.

     Pyongyang, January 25 (KCNA) -- The Songun politics of the Workers' Party of Korea is the invincible politics whose validity has been proved amid the stern test of history and an all-powerful treasured sword for winning a victory in the revolution, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. The WPK's Songun politics is the most effective political mode as it most correctly reflects the aspiration and demand of the popular masses who value independence and helps successfully realize them in the present times, the article notes, and continues:
    This politics is the most just politics reflecting the demand of the prevailing situation and will of the popular masses.
    The Songun politics is the most popular politics as it is aimed to defend independence of the popular masses and serve the people.
    This politics is based on the philosophy of arms that the army represents the Party, the State and the people.
    Attaching great importance to the military affairs in the socialist society is the most just measure to protect the destiny of the people and guarantee their life. No political mode is, therefore, as efficient as the Songun politics enforced by the WPK and the socialist regime which struggle for the independent and creative life of the people.
    The Korean people live and struggle with the faith that they can live without sweets but not without bullets.

    The Korean people are a proud nation that has made a long history and brilliant culture, living in the same territory as a homogeneous nation from ancient times. The history of the Korean nation with Tangun with as its ancestral father is spanning more than five thousand years. Tangun, the founder-father of Korea, chose the then Walled City of Pyongyang (Pyongyang at present) as a capital and declared the birth of the country and named it "Korea." With the foundation of Tangun Korea the Koreans were the first to usher in the era of the state and civilization in the East.
    The five-thousand-year-long history of the Korean nation can be described as a history of struggle during which it has courageously fought against foreign aggressors.
    The foreign aggressors had incessantly invaded Korea up to date from ancient times. Whenever the aggressors committed invasion, however, the Koreans turned out as one in a sacred fight to defend the country from the invasion.
    The aggressors failed to break patriotism and bravery of the Koreans and bring them to their knees.
    The five-thousand-year-long history of the Korean nation can also be termed a proud history of creation in which it brought into full bloom and developed the brilliant culture of the nation.
    The Korean people are a resourceful and civilized nation that has brought into full bloom the culture of the East and made great contributions to the development of culture of humankind from ancient times. They have created numerous excellent wealths in science, technology, literature and arts.
    Today in the DPRK the advantageous national character of the Korean nation has been carried forward and developed on a high level under the wise guidance of Kim Jong Il, the incarnation of patriotism. The traditions and customs of the Korean nation have been preserved and developed in all aspects of social life and the spirit and soul of the nation are prevalent in literary and art works, edifices, the dressing up and etiquette.

     Pyongyang, January 25 (KCNA) -- Minju Joson today dedicates an article to the 13th anniversary of the North Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Jan. 25, 1991). It was an epochal occasion in powerfully promoting the movement for national reunification relying on the driving force of the Korean nation, the article notes, and goes on:
    Over the last more than a decade since its formation the headquarters has played a vanguard role in the struggle to achieve independent reunification through national cooperation.
    Serious obstacles are lying in the way of the movement for the nation and independent reunification.
    The U.S. imperialists announced a new plan to bolster up the U.S. troops in south Korea and a new war scenario to invade the DPRK and have staged ceaseless war exercises targeted against the north, deteriorating the situation.      Pyongyang, January 25 (KCNA) -- The confrontation with imperialists is a military confrontation and, at the same time, a confrontation between the Koreans and imperialists in faith and will, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. It goes on: Any people strong in revolutionary faith and will and countries which resolutely struggle against the imperialists with a principled stand are sure to emerge victorious.
    The Bush bellicose forces invaded Afghanistan under the pretext of eradicating the "kingpin of terrorism", "den of terrorists" and then provoked the Iraqi war to overthrow Saddam's regime.
    In those wars the U.S. applied every most sinister and cunning method including destructive warfare, horror warfare and psychological warfare.

Greetings to Indian President

     Pyongyang, January 25 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, on Jan. 23 sent a message of greetings to A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, president of India, on the occasion of the day of the Republic of India. Expressing the belief that the traditional friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would continue to grow strong in the common interests of the two peoples, the message sincerely wished him greater success in his responsible work.

     Pyongyang, January 25 (KCNA) -- Pak Pong Ju, premier of the DPRK Cabinet, sent a message of greetings to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, prime minister of India, on the day of the Republic of India. Expressing the belief that the traditional friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would steadily expand and develop, the message wholeheartedly wished him greater success in his work to build new independent and prospering India.

Story Firing Range Project Denounced in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- The Headquarters of the Movement for Eradicating GIs' Crimes in South Korea, the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, the Green Federation and other organizations of south Korea reportedly called a press conference denouncing the illegal expansion project of U.S. troops' firing range in Jangpha-ri, Phaphyong-myon, Phaju City, Kyonggi Province, on Jan. 19. The press conference was held to condemn the U.S. troops in south Korea for driving iron pillars for iron entanglements into the ground around the expansion project of the Story firing range after starting it on Jan. 15.
    At the press conference speakers said that the project is aimed to destroy the environment, wreck peace and create tension. They stressed the need to wage a dynamical struggle to check the project together with the people.
    The participants in a press release strongly demanded an immediate stop to the project and the closure of the firing range, saying that the U.S. troops' project is an act of ignoring our sovereignty.

U.S. Urged to Drop Its Hostile Policy towards DPRK

     Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- Whether the DPRK-U.S. hostile relations are terminated and a war is averted on the Korean peninsula or not entirely depends on whether the United States drops its hostile policy to stifle the DPRK or not. If the U.S. sincerely wishes to solve the nuclear issue between the DPRK and the U.S. and put an end to the relations of confrontation between the two countries, the former should take a practical and bold action to roll back its hostile policy to stifle the latter. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article. It continues: The present DPRK-U.S. relations present themselves as a most acute and thorny global issue. In order to avert a war on the Korean peninsula it is necessary to terminate the DPRK-U.S. relations of confrontation and opt for improving them.
    For the U.S. to drop its hostile policy to stifle the DPRK is the master key to terminating those ties, easing the tensions on the peninsula and averting the war there.
    It is the essence of the U.S. hostile policy towards the DPRK to topple down the socialist system of Korean style and establish the political system and order of the American style "free world" in the DPRK.
    The bilateral relations will reach the phase of more acute confrontation should the U.S. take issue with and work hard to destroy the system in the DPRK as it does now.
    The escalated moves of the U.S. to invade the DPRK would only reinforce the faith and will of its army and people to further increase its military muscle to protect the country. The U.S. had better drop its attempt to invade the DPRK before faulting its measures to bolster its defence capability. The DPRK will not level its gun at the U.S. if it does not aim its gun at Pyongyang.
    The U.S. sanctions and blockade against the DPRK should be lifted to terminate the hostile ties between the two countries.
    The U.S. sanctions and blockade against the DPRK have lasted for more than half a century. But never before has the U.S. pursued such a desperate strategy to isolate and stifle the DPRK through international sanctions and blockade backed by military force as now, while openly manoeuvring to lay an "international siege" to it. This indicates that the U.S. imperialists' start of the second Korean war is becoming a reality. That was why the DPRK government clearly stated that it would consider the U.S. formation of an "international siege" and sanctions and blockade against it as military provocations and acts of aggression against it and strongly react against them.
    The U.S. will have nothing to "concern" about the DPRK and worry about its "security" if it drops its hostile policy to stifle the DPRK and opts for normalizing its relations with Pyongyang.
    The U.S. had better make a switchover in its policy towards the DPRK, though belatedly, properly understanding the do-or die spirit, persevering will and invincible might of the army and people of the DPRK. This would be in line with the trend of the times towards independence, peace, reconciliation and cooperation and helpful to improving the prestige and image of the U.S. The DPRK will closely follow the U.S. move to make a switchover in its policy towards the DPRK and react to it.

All Koreans Called upon to Place Nation above Anything Else

     Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- It is necessary to fully realize national cooperation with the stand and will to place the nation above anything else and rely on its strength in order to advance the movement for reunification under the banner of the Korean nation-first spirit, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article.     All the achievements made in the inter-Korean relations and the movement for national reunification by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation after the publication of the historic June 15 joint declaration clearly prove that "By our nation itself" is the best and there is nothing impossible for the Koreans if they cooperate with each other.
    It is necessary to place the nation above anything else and strengthen the national unity in reliance upon its strength, not depending on outside forces and "cooperating" with them. The United States is the biggest trouble-maker for the Koreans who are conducting the movement for reconciliation, cooperation and independent reunification by the concerted efforts of the nation.
    All the Koreans should firmly unite and struggle to resolutely frustrate the U.S. moves to stifle the DPRK and ignite a new war.
    The more desperately the U.S. works to block the national unity and the reunification movement, the more dynamically all the Koreans should conduct the movement for reconciliation, cooperation and independent reunification under the banner of the June 15 joint declaration, the banner of the Korean nation-first spirit.

Egyptian Preparatory Committee Formed

     Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- The Egyptian Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea formed a preparatory committee for celebrating the sun of the 21st century on Jan. 17. Yehia Zakaria Khairallah, chairman of the committee, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee. A resolution released by the committee stressed that leader Kim Jong Il is the sun of the 21st century who is leading the Korean revolution and the cause of global independence to victory and said that it would conduct a solidarity movement supporting the Korean people's efforts to build a great prosperous powerful socialist nation and reunify the country under his Songun readership.
    The committee set a period of celebrating the sun of the 21st century from February to April and decided to organize political, cultural and other colorful functions during the period.

Support to Koreans Expressed in Russia

     Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- Though the present international situation is complicated and the situation surrounding the Korean peninsula is still tense, support of Russians to the Korean people is consistent, said Yeliseyev, head of the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Russian Ministry of Interior, on Jan. 12. He noted that after reading the joint New Year editorial of the DPRK, he came to know better the strength and validity of the Songun politics pursued by leader Kim Jong Il and is deeply sympathetic to it.
    He went on:
    I, as a soldier, believe that the Korean people, true to the Songun politics, will successfully carry out the tasks laid down in the joint editorial. I and members of the ensemble invariably respect and revere Kim Jong Il and make all possible efforts to support the DPRK.

Appeal of Joint Meeting Supported

     Tokyo, January 22 (KNS-KCNA) -- All officials of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and compatriots will vigorously turn out in the sacred movement for national reunification to implement the June 15 joint declaration this year in response to the joint appeal to the Korean nation "Let us pave a wide avenue for independent reunification through national cooperation under the banner of our nation-first spirit!". Nam Sung U, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon, said this in a press statement on Jan. 21.
    The appeal of a joint meeting of the DPRK government, political parties and organizations is a just patriotic step reflecting the requirements of the present situation and the ardent desire and will of Koreans in Japan for independent reunification, he said, and went on:
    The United States is rendering the situation of the Korean peninsula extremely strained by shipping sophisticated high-tech military equipment into south Korea and instigating its followers at home and abroad to put a brake on the progress of inter-Korean relations. The only way of saving the destiny of the nation is for all the Koreans in the north, the south and overseas to turn out in the nationwide struggle to foil the U.S. new war provocation moves through national cooperation.

Vice-Chairman of NDFSK Calls for Reunification Movement

     Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- The vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) on Jan. 21 released a press statement supporting the appeal to the seventy million Koreans adopted at the joint meeting of the DPRK government, political parties and organizations, according to the Kugukjonson Internet site. The five-point appeal, which calls for demonstrating national dignity, realizing national cooperation, waging anti-U.S. patriotic struggle, implementing the June 15 joint declaration and supporting the Songun politics, is a patriotic measure that can be taken only in Pyongyang, sacred capital of national dignity, the statement noted, pointing out that the NDFSK Central Committee fully supports the appeal, considering it as co-ordinates for national reunification reflecting the unanimous will of all the Koreans.
    It continued:
    Our people will clear away illusion about the United States, chieftain of evil, and wage a vigorous struggle to regain the dignity of the nation with the firm self-confidence that if the seventy million fellow countrymen whose independent spirit and wisdom are best pool efforts and wisdom in response to the appeal, there will be nothing for them to fear and fail to do.

El llamamiento de cinco puntos: la demostracion de la dignidad nacional, la realizacion de la cooperacion nacional, el despliegue de la sagrada lucha patriotica antiyanqui, la ejecucion de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio y el apoyo a la politica de Songun (priorizacion militar), constituye una medida patriotica que solo se puede tomar en Pyongyang, lugar sagrado de la dignidad nacional, senala la declaracion y subraya que el CC del FDNSC apoya enteramente el llamamiento del Norte considerandolo una coordinadas para la reunificacion de la patria que refleja la unanime voluntad de la nacion coreana.
    La declaracion continua:
    Los habitantes del Sur de Corea, convencidos firmemente de que los 70 millones de coreanos que son mejores en el espiritu de independencia y tambien en la inteligencia, al unir la fuerza y talento segun el llamamiento del Norte, no tendran nada temible ni irrealizable en el mundo, libraran una energica lucha por recuperar la dignidad nacional liberandose de la ilusion sobre EE.UU., caudillo del mal.
    Nuestra poblacion librara mas energicamente la lucha por ejecutar la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio, jalon de la reunificacion del siglo 21, encauzando la fuerza total a disolver el "Partido Hannara", banda de perversos opositores a la reunificacion y la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio, para asi destruir este baluarte de los conservadores opuestos a la reintegracion nacional. Nuestra poblacion, como integrante de la nacion feliz que goza de la vida y tranquilidad bajo la proteccion de la politica de Songun que practica el gran General Kim Jong Il, salvador del destino de la nacion y estrella de la reunificacion de la patria, no se olvidara de este beneficio, apoyara y defendera por todos los medios esta politica que es remedio omnipotente para la nacion.

Es invariable el apoyo al pueblo coreano

     Pyongyang, 24 de enero (ATCC) -- Aunque es muy compleja la situacion internacional y tensa la situacion en torno a la Peninsula Coreana, es invariable nuestro apoyo al pueblo coreano. Asi senalo el dia 12 Eliseyev, jefe del Conjunto Musical del Ministerio del Interior de Rusia, y continuo:
    Al leer el editorial conjunto de los periodicos coreanos Rodong Sinmun, Joson Inmingun y Chongnyon Jonwi publicado con motivo del Ano Nuevo, llegue a cerciorarme mejor del poderio y la justeza de la politica de Songun (priorizacion militar) del General Kim Jong Il.
    Yo, como militar, estoy convencido de que el pueblo coreano guiado por la politica de Songun cumplira exitosamente las tareas presentadas en el editorial conjunto.
    Yo y los miembros del Conjunto Musical respetamos y veneramos invariablemente al General Kim Jong Il y hacemos todo lo posible para apoyar a Corea.
    La funcion artistica que nuestro conjunto musical dara en lo adelante en Corea estara penetrada en apoyo al pueblo coreano que avanza bajo la direccion del General Kim Jong Il mediante el Songun.
