Birthday of Kim Jong Il Celebrated in Russia
Moscow, January 31 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held in Moscow on Jan. 28 under the sponsorship of the Party for Peace and Unity of Russia on the occasion of the birthday of leader Kim Jong Il.
Sazhi Zaindinova Umalatova, chairwoman of the Party for Peace and Unity of Russia, in a report said that the Songun policy set out by Kim Jong Il is an all-powerful treasured sword for firmly protecting the sovereignty and security of the country and the nation in the world today when the imperialists are getting more undisguised in their military ambition.
Hailing the Songun policy as a patriotic policy leading the Korean nation to prosperity, she expressed belief that the Korean people led by Kim Jong Il would achieve greater success in building a great prosperous powerful socialist nation under the uplifted banner of the Juche idea.
The vice-chairman of the Party for Peace and Unity of Russia in a speech said that all the successes made by the DPRK in the relations with other countries would have been unthinkable without the iron will and extraordinary diplomatic strategy of Kim Jong Il, adding that it is by no means fortuitous that many Russians unanimously praise him as the most informal, dearest and greatest man.
A representative of the youth organization of the Party for Peace and Unity of Russia in a speech said that the reverence for Kim Jong Il is growing deeper among the Russian youth day by day, extending to him warm congratulations and best wishes for his good health on his birthday on the behalf of the Russian youth.
A congratulatory message to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting.

NDFSK Issues Declaration on Situation
Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) issued a declaration on the situation on Jan. 29, representing the unshakable will of the south Korean people of all social strata to hurl themselves more vehemently into the anti-U.S. struggle for independence by national cooperation under the banner of the Korean nation-first spirit.
Pointing to the U.S. moves to pursue persistently north-south confrontation and nuclear war policy on the Korean peninsula, going against reconciliation and cooperation between the north and the south, the declaration warns that if this grave situation went unchecked, a nuclear war would break out on the Korean peninsula to reduce the land of three thousand ri to ruins and impose terrible disaster upon the entire nation in both parts of Korea.
All the fellow countrymen should resolutely turn out in a nationwide anti-U.S. resistance, upholding the banner of Korean nation-first spirit, today when the destiny of the nation is at stake, urges the declaration.
It calls for a general turn-out in the nationwide anti-U.S. patriotic resistance and touch off a storm of an anti-U.S. struggle for independence, giving vent to resentment and anger pent up through centuries, and thus put an end to the U.S. domination and
interference.
Let us decisively shatter the U.S. gangster-like scheme to start a nuclear war against the north and, should the U.S. dare ignite a war of aggression, bring a sledge hammer blow on the the U.S. imperialists, the century-old sworn enemy of the nation, by joining hands with the compatriots in the north, and accomplish the cause of national liberation, it says.
It calls for opening a decisive phase of the independent reunification of the nation through the acceleration of the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration and meting out merciless punishment to the forces against the declaration, the ultra-right conservatives including the Grand National Party, which block reconciliation, cooperation and reunification, dead set against the declaration.
Saying that Songun politics is the great foundation of all blessings for defending the well-being of the whole nation in both the north and the south and leading to reunification and prosperity, it calls for fully supporting the Songun politics of the north.
All-Out Anti-U.S. Struggle Called for
Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- Yun Ki Jin, chairman of the South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification (Pomchonghakryon), reportedly released an appeal titled " Let's begin the struggle for 2004 with an all-out offensive and all-out charge to emerge victorious in the confrontation with the U.S." on Jan. 29.
Noting that the U.S. is rendering the situation on the Korean peninsula extremely tense, the appeal stressed if all Koreans fight against the U.S. imperialists, they can win a victory.
The Korean nation has inexhaustible strength as it has the effective Songun policy pursued in the north which redoubles the national pride and self-confidence and the June 15 joint declaration instilling the confidence in the independent reunification into them, it said.
The appeal called upon the youth and students to turn out as one in the struggle against the U.S., and war and for the dissolution of the "Grand National Party" in the spirit that if the Koreans struggle in unity, they can achieve anything.
More Relics Unearthed in Pyongyang
Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- More relics were discovered in the area of Mt. Ryongak, Mangyongdae District, Pyongyang. They bear witness to the time-honored history and brilliant culture of the Korean nation whose history spans 5,000 years.
A group of researchers of the Faculty of History of Kim Il Sung University conducted a survey of the area which resulted in discovering 112 dolmens dating back to the period of Ancient Korea and 19 earthen stone tombs dating back to Koguryo and one mural painting tomb belonging to Koguryo and 3 brick tombs. They also unearthed the site of "Ryongak Temple", a temple believed to have existed in the period of Koryo.
Tile pieces belonging to the period of Koguryo were also found on Popun Rock.
Discovered inside the dolmens were stone daggers, stone arrowheads, stone axes and pieces of earthen jars and human bones and many other relics.
The recent discovery of many dolmens in the area of Mt. Ryongak in the wake of the finding of dolmens in Pyongyang including Kangdong, Sangwon and Taedong Counties proves once again that Pyongyang was the center of the ancient civilization of the Korean nation, according to researchers.
Excavated in the earthen stone tombs which belong to the period of Koguryo were iron axes, iron arrowheads, earthenware, a metal scale on a piece of armor and other relics that had been used by the people in that period. The ancient mural painting clearly shows a high level of cultural development at that time.
The discovery of the site of "Ryongak Temple" that has so far been recorded only in an ancient document materially proves that the temple had actually existed in the area of Mt. Ryongak in the period of Koryo.
The new discoveries of ancient relics dating back to different historical periods ranging from Ancient Korea, Koguryo to Koryo in the area of Mt. Ryongak in Pyongyang bring national pride and joy to the Koreans.
Warning to U.S.
Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification (Pomchonghakryon) in its "Warning to the U.S." on Jan. 30 reportedly demanded that the U.S. keep pace with the global trend towards independence and peace and withdraw a large number of weapons and military forces from south Korea.
Noting that the U.S. was these days creating tension on the Korean peninsula and getting its hand on the inter-Korean relations, it said: Such a folly is an outrageous interference and intolerable encroachment upon the sovereignty and internal affairs of the Korean nation and a grave challenge to the Korean nation struggling for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country under the banner of the June 15 joint declaration.
Our nation will never yield to the imperialists who are trying to trample upon its sovereignty, the organization said, and stated:
We have the June 15 joint declaration and the fighting capacity and pluck to fight the dominationists who are seeking domination and confrontation.

DPRK Foreign Ministry Spokesman on Japan's Abduction of Its Citizens
Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The abduction of Korean citizens by "the Fund for Relief of North Korean Refugees," a Japanese right-wing organization, in recent years is a crime against humanity as it violates international law and the law of the DPRK. A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry said this in an answer given to a question put by KCNA Monday.
It goes on:
The fund is now letting loose a string of sophism describing this crime as "humanitarian support".
The abduction may be painted as such in Japan, a country whose moral vulgarity and shamelessness have reached their height. But the international community will never tolerate this ruse.
The DPRK provided groups or individuals with every possible condition for humanitarian support through the settlement of bank accounts or postal remittance or shipping service despite the Japanese government's pursuance of its invariable hostile policy toward the DPRK.
However, the fund, prompted by its sinister political purpose, ignored such legal channels and secretly took Korean citizens to Japan, thus separating happy families from each other overnight and preventing them from hearing from each other.
Recalling that the Japanese authorities have talked much year after year about the cases of several Japanese abducted, an issue that had already been settled, the spokesman pointed to the ulterior aim they sought in defending this organization, turning a blind eye to its abduction of DPRK citizens He continued:
Japan, which had brought an unspeakable misfortune and pain to the Koreans in the past, is now violating the sovereignty of the DPRK and adding to their bitter pain in the new century, too, instead of redeeming its past crimes. The DPRK will certainly force Japan to pay for this.
The Japanese authorities should ponder over the consequences to be entailed by the abduction. They should ferret out those responsible for it and investigate the case, sternly punish the criminals and return victims to their families without delay.
The DPRK will closely follow the future attitude of the Japanese authorities.
Japan Has Nothing to Expect
Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) --Recently, the House of Representatives of Japan finally passed the "amendment to the law on foreign exchange" through Diet, angering the Korean people.
Kim Kwang Rin, chairman of the State Planning Commission, in an interview with KCNA on February 1, said:
On January 29, Japan's House of Representatives railroaded through Diet the amendment stipulating that remittance to and trade with the DPRK shall be stopped, when necessary, and Japan shall impose sanctions upon the DPRK single-handedly even without a UN resolution or international agreement for the "peace and security of Japan".
The move, prompted by the U.S. policy of stifling the DPRK economically and isolating it, is inviting all the Korean people's denunciation.
Japan's adoption of the bill is driving the DPRK-Japan relations to an unpredictable phase. What is ridiculous is that Japan hopes for the DPRK's concession through the adoption of the bill.
But Japan has made a big mistake. The DPRK Government and people, who consider the sovereignty of the country as their life and soul, will never be frightened by pressure and sanctions of such a war criminal state as Japan.
Japan should be held entirely responsible for all the consequences to be entailed by its wanton violation of the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration.
Japan has nothing to expect.
In another interview with KCNA Vice-Minister of Agriculture Hong Myong Ryol said:
The history of humankind has never known such a brazen-faced and untrustworthy nation as Japan.
It is only little more than a year ago that Japan's chief executive came to Pyongyang and admitted, in a spirit of humility, facts of history that Japan caused tremendous damage and sufferings to the Korean people through its colonial rule in the past, and
expressed deep remorse and heartfelt apology.
But Japan is now threatening sanctions, far from making an apology. This reveals the craftiness and vulgarity of the Japanese-style ethics.
The Korean people will never remain a passive onlooker to Japan's acts of infringing upon the sovereignty of the DPRK.
I would like to remind the Japanese authorities of the fate of a tiger moth.
