Film Show Held to Mark National Day of Kuwait

     Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- A film show was held here on Feb.26 on the occasion of the 43rd national day of Kuwait. Present there were Jon Hyon Chan, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, officials concerned and working people in the city.
    The participants saw a Kuwaiti documentary film.

DPRK's Stand Supported by Zimbabwean President

     Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- Robert G. Mugabe, president of the Republic of Zimbabwe, hoped that the reunification of the Korean peninsula would be realized in accordance with the proposal of the DPRK and voiced support for the DPRK's stand on the nuclear issue. When receiving credentials from Pak Kun Gwang, new DPRK ambassador e.p. to Zimbabwe, on February 19 the president said he was much pleased to see the fact that the DPRK values the relations with Zimbabwe and stressed the need to boost the bilateral cooperative relations.
    He added that he has been grateful to President Kim Il Sung for unsparingly giving much aid to the Zimbabwean people during their struggle for independence and after the independence of the country and does not forget it.

"Special Commemorative Page of Kim Jong Il" Opens

     Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Group for the Study of the Songun Politics opened Internet homepage "Special commemorative page of Kim Jong Il" on February 14 on the occasion of the February holiday. Edited in the homepage are the full text of leader Kim Jong Il's famous work "Abuses of Socialism Are Intolerable," propositions from his work "Let Us March Forward Dynamically along the Road of Socialism and Communism under the Unfurled Banner of the Anti-imperialist Struggle" and the full text of the book "Songun Politics of General Kim Jong Il".
    Also carried in the homepage is an article of Jo Il Min, chief of the Pyongyang Mission of the National Democratic Front of South Korea, titled "Why do we worship and uphold General Kim Jong Il".
    The article said:
    Kim Jong Il is a great thinker and theoretician, a great statesman, a great man and the sun of the 21st century. His thought, statesmanship and achievements, all of them reach the acme of charm.
    Anyone cannot but be captivated by his greatness as an outstanding thinker and theoretician when recollecting a few facts such as the programme of modeling the whole society on the Juche idea, the idea and theory on global independence, the socialist idea and theory of the present times and the idea and theory on the Songun politics.
    He incapacitated the strong-arm action of the U.S. imperialists with the might of ideology and Songun, the strength of single-hearted unity, defended the dignity and sovereignty of the country and the nation and performed noteworthy exploits in ensuring peace and stability in the Korean peninsula. He is the lodestar of national reunification and the great incarnation of benevolence. He defends and flowers today and tomorrow of fellow countrymen with his Songun politics.
    The absolute faith that the great leader of the Korean nation is the only one, General Kim Jong Il, is cherished in the hearts of all the people. The victory of the cause of the NDFSK which worships and upholds him is sure to come.

Meeting of Presidium of North Headquarters of Pomminryon Held

     Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- A meeting of the Presidium of the North Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon) was held at the People's Palace of Culture yesterday. Present at the meeting were members of the Presidium of the North Headquarters of Pomminryon and members of its Central Committee.
    The meeting discussed its agenda item "On thoroughly implementing the tasks for national reunification set forth in the joint editorial of this year and at the joint meeting of the government, political parties and organizations of the DPRK".
    An Kyong Ho, chairman of the North Headquarters of Pomminryon, made a report which was followed by speeches.
    The meeting recalled that the North Headquarters of Pomminryon intensified the work with the organizations of all social standings in the south and overseas and conducted a vigorous movement for national reunification last year after fixing it as a "year of defending independence and peace through national cooperation".
    The meeting called for paving a wide avenue for independent reunification through national cooperation under the uplifted banner of our nation-first spirit as required by the present situation, taking note of the situation in the country which has become tenser due to the U.S. and reactionaries at home and abroad, its followers.
    Noting that the anti-U.S. struggle is a life and death struggle decisive of the dignity and destiny of the Korean nation, the meeting called on all the Korean people to make an active contribution to building the structure of the Korean nation's confrontation with the U.S. through practical actions.
    It underlined the need to steadily improve the work of Pomminryon in keeping with the situation prevailing in Korea after the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and intensify the struggle to realize the legalization of the South Headquarters of Pomminryon and the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils.
    A resolution was adopted at the meeting.

Rally Held to Mark 9th Anniversary of Pomminryon South Headquarters

     Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- A rally was held at Hanyang University of south Korea on February 22 to mark the 9th anniversary of the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon). At the rally Chairman Ra Chang Sun of Pomminryon South Headquarters made an address and prominent figures of various organisations congratulatory speeches.
    They said Pomminryon has all along worked hard for the great national unity and national reunification. They stressed the need to wage a vigorous struggle to pave a broad avenue for the reunification of the country through national cooperation under the banner of our nation-first spirit.
    An "appeal to the people" was made public at the Second Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of Pomminryon South Headquarters held prior to the rally.
    The appeal said now the Korean nation is exposed to a grave threat from war moves of the U.S. But there are a strong war deterrent built up to cope with the U.S. moves to provoke a war on the Korean peninsula in the north and the people standing firm against the U.S. in the south, it noted.

    The June 15 joint declaration is a yardstick distinguishing patriotism from treachery.
    National cooperation is the only way of putting into reality the structure of the Korean nation vs. U.S. confrontation by practical actions and realizing the desire of the nation.
    It called for smashing the U.S. war moves getting all the more pronounced and winning in the confrontation with the U.S., the sworn enemy, without fail.

Inter-Korean Working Contacts Held

     Kaesong, February 26 (KCNA) -- The 9th north-south working contact for reconnecting the rail and road links and the 4th north-south working contact for cooperation on marine transportation were made in Kaesong from February 25 to 26. At the contact for reconnecting the rail and road links between the north and the south both sides adopted an agreement after discussing a timetable for technical service for the repair and servicing of equipment for undertaking the projects of reconnecting the rail and road links, a timetable for the provision and construction of an asphalt complex, a timetable for the provision of the equipment and materials yet to be delivered for the projects and other matters.
    It was decided to agree on the basic agreement on the setting up of a truck service office and its operation and the provision of train service at the fourth meeting of the panel for reconnecting the rail and road links between the north and the south.
    At the working contact for cooperation on marine transportation both sides had a discussion on the date of effectuating the agreement on marine transportation between the north and the south that had already been adopted and an appendix for its implementation and published a joint press release stating that they would adopt the appendix at an early date after finalizing it by way of exchanging documents.
    They agreed to fix the date and venue for the 5th north-south working contact for cooperation in marine transportation after discussing it by way of exchanging documents.

Foreigners Visit DPRK Embassies

     Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- The vice minister of Land and Cooperatives Development of Malaysia who is vice-chairman of the Malaysian People's Movement and the vice minister of Youth and Sports of Malaysia separately paid congratulatory visits to the DPRK embassy in that country on Feb. 16 on the occasion of the birthday of leader Kim Jong Il. They laid floral baskets before the portraits of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and paid their respects to them.
    They handed to the DPRK ambassador messages of greetings to Kim Jong Il.
    The vice minister of Land and Cooperatives Development of Malaysia expressed belief that the good friendly relations between the Workers' Party of Korea and the MPM would grow stronger, showing the willingness to make every possible effort to this end.
    On Feb. 15 the vice-chairman of the National Democratic Party of Egypt who is deputy prime minister and minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, the chairman of the National Progressive Unionist Party of Egypt, the chairman of the Egypt-Korea Friendship Association, the chairman of the Egyptian Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea and other prominent figures of different circles paid congratulatory visits to the DPRK embassy in Cairo and laid floral baskets before a photograph of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il standing together on Mt. Paektu.
    Meanwhile, the coordinator (leader) of the National Executive Committee of the Workers' Party of Mexico, the deputy general secretary of the Syria's Baath Arab Socialist Party, the defense and foreign ministers of Laos, the general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), the commander-in-chief and the director of the General Information Department of the Malaysian Army, the presidency of Indonesia, the Mexico-Korea Friendship Association, and governments, political parties, organizations and prominent figures of different countries sent floral baskets and messages of greetings to DPRK missions on the occasion of the February holiday.

Statement Issued to Congratulate Kim Jong Il on His Birthday

     Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- A joint statement entitled "Long live Comrade Kim Jong Il, the sun of humankind! Congratulations on happy holiday celebrated under the banner of independence and Juche" was jointly issued on Jan. 31 on the occasion of the February holiday by the Arab Council for the Study of Kim Jong Il's Idea and Independence, the Arab Committee for Solidarity with the Korean People and Supporting the Reunification of Korea and the Arab Solidarity Committee for Supporting the Struggle of the "National Democratic Front of South Korea" and the South Korean People, the Kim Jong Il Club of the Listeners and Friends of Pyongyang Broadcasts, the Arab Christians' Committee for Peace and the Arab Branch of the International Anti-Zionism Front. The statement praised Kim Jong Il as a great symbol of internationalism as he shows love for the people on this planet and instills into them energy to struggle and a personifier of the unanimous desire of all people to see a staunch leader who braves any difficulties.

Japan Should Not Be Allowed to Repeat Its History of Aggression of Korea

     Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- Japan should never be allowed to repeat the history of the Japanese imperialist aggression of Korea, says Rodong Sinmun Friday in a signed article. The article goes on:
    The Japanese aggressors fabricated the "Kanghwa Island Treaty" 128 years ago. It was the first treaty imposed upon Korea by Japan whereby it infringed upon the sovereignty of the Korean nation by military threat and blackmail in a bid to invade Korea and put it under its control and it was the first product of the collusion between the U.S. and Japanese aggressors for the invasion of Korea.
    The article cites facts to prove that the Japanese aggressors deeply infiltrated into the political, economic, cultural and other fields of Korea on the strength of the treaty and finally occupied it by force of arms, thus forcing the Korean people to suffer untold misfortune, pain and disasters for more than 40 years.
    Japan is obliged to redeem its crime-woven past and apologize for all the crimes it committed against the Korean people in the past and compensate for them. However, it is whitewashing and justifying them in a bid to realize its ambition to reinvade Korea. It is clearly evidenced by the facts that the Japanese authorities are persistently pursuing their hostile policy toward the DPRK, evading their responsibility for liquidating Japan's past, the core issue of the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration, paid visits to the "Yasukuni Shrine" from the outset of the year, adopted a legislation to apply economic sanctions against the DPRK, pursuant to the U.S. offensive to destroy the DPRK with nukes, and made a territorial claim to Tok Islet, etc.
    The Japanese reactionaries are gravely mistaken, however. The Korean people are not what they used to be in the past. If the Japanese reactionaries launch the reinvasion of Korea, they will meet nothing but a miserable destruction.

Military Attaches Visit Ski Training Centre

     Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- Members of the military attaches' corps here on Feb. 26 went round the all-round ski training centre built by the Korean People's Army The training centre built in the district of North Phothae Mountain of Mt. Paektu area, the holy land of revolution, is splendid in scale and facilities which are suitable for ski training and races and all kinds of amusement games. It is another creation of the Songun era.
    There are several ski courses and cableways in the training center. It is fully equipped with modern facilities and apparatus necessary for ski training such as snow tamping cars, snow buses, snow motorcycles and snow sleighs.
    Before watching soldiers undergoing ski training the visitors were briefed on the training center in front of the monument to the on-the-spot guidance of leader Kim Jong Il erected there.
    The soldiers well displayed the militant spirit of the Korean People's Army by performing a number of training events requiring boldness, braveness, refined physical preparedness and patience.
    The visitors went up by snow bus to the top of the North Phothae Mountain where Mt. Paektu is visible and enjoyed a bird's-eye view of its area.
    And they spent a joyful time of rest by sliding on skis, snow motorcycles and snow sleighs.
    After going round the training center, military attaches said the combat strength of the Korean People's Army was growing immensely stronger as its soldiers were training themselves for battles in such wonderful training center under deep care and solicitude of Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il.

Meeting of Ideological Workers Closes

     Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- The meeting of ideological workers of the Workers' Party of Korea closed today after successfully winding up its work. Jong Ha Chol, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, made a report titled "Let Us Fully Demonstrate the Might of the Ideological Work of Our Party under the Great Songun Banner!" which was followed by speeches.
    The reporter said that leader Kim Jong Il with clairvoyant and rare wisdom set out the principle of Juche that idea decides everything and considered ideology as the most efficient weapon for a revolutionary party. He attached primary importance to the ideological work of the Party from the early days of his guidance over the WPK and has wisely led it for the last four decades, he added, and continued:
    Kim Jong Il formulated President Kim Il Sung's revolutionary idea as an idea guiding our times at a time when the Korean revolution entered a historic turning-point and ushered in a new era for the development of the ideological work by proclaiming the programme for modeling the whole society on the Juche idea on that basis.
    This occupies a most brilliant page in his history of leadership over the party ideological work.
    He has consistently maintained the leadership principle of putting the ideological work above all other work throughout the history of the Korean revolution.
    His wise leadership over the party ideological work finds its vivid manifestation in the fact that he set a fine example of the party political work in the Songun era and made sure that it was followed by all party organizations.
    The single-hearted unity of the whole Party and all the people around the leader, the only central figure, has become stronger than ever before and the ideological position of socialism in the DPRK has been remarkably consolidated. This is the greatest achievement made in the Party ideological work.
    The party ideological education has been steadily intensified to meet the requirements of the programme for modeling the whole society on the Juche idea. As a result, the leader, the Party, the army and the people have achieved perfect unity and cohesion and they have formed indestructible ranks of Songun revolutionary comrades armed with the spirit of devotedly defending the leader in the Songun era.
    The major task before the party ideological workers at present is to strengthen in every way the driving force of the Songun revolution and arouse the whole Party and army and all the people to a struggle to defend socialism and to the building of a great prosperous powerful nation.

    El ano pasado, tambien recibio la maxima orden y titulos de Academico y Profesor Titular otorgados por la Academia de Ciencias de los Problemas de Seguridad, Defensa Nacional y Orden Juridico; el primer emblema honorario de oro y el diploma del Partido del Trabajo de Hungria; el certificado y la medalla del Doctor Honoris Causa de la Universidad Alas Anas y el titulo de Ciudadano Honorario del Municipio de Lince de Lima, Peru, respectivamente; titulos y certificados de Ciudadano Honorario y presentes concedidos por las ciudades de Nezahualcoyotl y de Izcar de Matamoros, esta ultima del estado de Puebla, Mexico.

Conferencia de Funcionarios Ideologicos de Todo el Partido

     Pyongyang, 27 de febrero (ATCC) -- Tuvo lugar los dias 26 y 27 en la Casa Cultural "25 de Abril" la Conferencia de Funcionarios Ideologicos de Todo el Partido. La reunion hizo balance de los exitos y las experiencias logrados en el pasado en la labor de propaganda y agitacion del Partido del Trabajo de Corea (PTC) para transformar toda la sociedad segun la idea Juche bajo la sabia direccion del Dirigente Kim Jong Il y discutio las tareas para profundizar y desarrollar mas la labor ideologica del partido conforme a la demanda de la epoca del Songun (priorizacion militar).
    Participaron Kim Yong Nam, Yon Hyong Muk, Choe Thae Bok y otros cuadros, asi como los funcionarios ideologicos de varios sectores.
    Kim Yong Nam, miembro del Buro Politico del CC del PTC y presidente del Presidium de la Asamblea Popular Suprema de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, dio lectura al mensaje de felicitacion del CC del PTC dirigido a los participantes en la presente conferencia.
