Korean People's Struggle Supported
Pyongyang, March 15 (KCNA) -- The 8th seminar of political parties of the world on building a new society was held in Mexico City from March 5 to 7.
Alberto Anaya Gutierrez, coordinator (leader) of the National Executive Committee of the Workers' Party of Mexico, made an opening address.
Referring to the Korean issue, he accused the U.S. imperialists of their anti-DPRK moves, expressing full support and solidarity with the Workers' Party and people of Korea in their struggle to achieve the prosperity and reunification of the country despite the U.S. imperialists' challenge.
President Kim Il Sung's great idea of building a new society powerfully encourages the progressive mankind in their struggle and this idea will be everlasting, he noted.
Representatives of political parties of different countries in their speeches underscored the need to strengthen the joint actions and solidarity among the progressive political parties, learning from the experience and lessons drawn from the struggle for the building of a new society and in keeping with the present international situation and called for waging a more dynamic struggle to build a new society, swimming with the historic trend towards independence.
A resolution expressing support and solidarity to the WPK and the Korean people in their struggle to defend the sovereignty of the country and achieve national reunification was adopted at the seminar.
Reiterating full support and solidarity with the WPK and the Korean people in their struggle to protect the sovereignty of the country, national dignity and the cause of socialism and achieve national reunification, the resolution said:
First. We highly praise great successes made by the Workers' Party and people of Korea in their struggle to protect the sovereignty of the country, national dignity and the cause of socialism from the U.S. imperialists' moves for aggression and achieve national reunification, true to the Songun politics of leader Kim Jong Il.
Second. We express full support and militant solidarity with the fraternal Korean people, believing that the WPK and the Korean people will win a great victory in the struggle to check and frustrate the U.S. imperialists' nuclear racket and defend the sovereignty of the country and the dignity of the nation.
Third. Now the situation on the Korean peninsula has reached a dangerous phase due to the Bush administration's hostile policy toward the DPRK.
We denounce the moves stepped up by the U.S. imperialists for aggression in a wild bid to suffocate the DPRK and demand them drop their hostile policy toward the DPRK and immediately withdraw their forces from south Korea.
Fourth. We support the widespread struggle waged by all the Koreans for the country's reunification along the road indicated by the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration adopted in 2000 and call on all the progressive parties of the world to stage a solidarity movement for voicing firm support to the WPK and the Korean people in their struggle to prevent the danger of war from the Korean peninsula, consolidate peace there and achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.
A solidarity message to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the seminar.
Present there were representatives of 65 progressive political parties from 28 countries including the WPK, the Communist Party of China, the Communist Party of Cuba and the Communist Party of Vietnam.
GIs' Arrogant Act under Fire
Pyongyang, March 15 (KCNA)-- The People's Action against Troop Dispatch of south Korea reportedly called a press conference in front of the U.S. embassy in Seoul on March 9 to accuse the U.S. forces of attempting to deprive the south Korean troops to be sent to Iraq of their right to command operations in the wake of their detention of south Korean reporters there.
A press release distributed at the conference recalled that GIs put in custody and assaulted south Korean journalists in Iraq after handcuffing them on the absurd charge of being "terrorists." This was a barbarous act of savagely trampling down the dignity of the people, surpassing by far the human rights abuse and gag on the press, it noted.
A letter of protest to the U.S. secretary of Defense was read out at the conference.
The letter bitterly denounced the U.S. forces' detention of journalists and strongly demanded an official apology from the U.S. secretary of Defense, an immediate investigation into GI criminals involved in the incident and the announcement of its results.
Meanwhile, the south Korean TV Cameramen's Association and the south Korean Cameramen's Association also held a press conference on the same day to assail the U.S. force for detaining journalists and demand the U.S forces side make an apology and stop its hostile act of regarding reporters as "potential enemy", etc.
Korea's Reunification Supported by Albanian President
Pyongyang, March 15 (KCNA) -- Korea should be reunified peacefully through dialogue and negotiations between the north and the south and the issue of the Korean peninsula solved fairly in the interests of the Korean people and the international community.
Alfred Moisiu, president of the Republic of Albania, said this when receiving credentials from Kim Ha Dong, DPRK ambassador e. p. to the country, on March 9.
On the occasion the president noted that the government of Albania wanted to boost the relations with the DPRK in various fields, saying that the ties between the two countries have a long history.
Sports Contests among Students in Final Year at Middle Schools Held
Pyongyang, March 15 (KCNA) -- Sports contests among students in the final year at middle schools were held in various provincial seats, cities and county seats on March 14 on the occasion of the Day of Sports in the DPRK.
The contests included group forced march, bayonet charge, Taekwon-Do for health, flag signal, obstacle race, tug of war and other games.
That day a contest of students in the final year at middle schools in Pyongyang took place at the Kim Il Sung Stadium here.
Kim Kyong Ho, first secretary of the central committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, made an opening address. The contest began after a march-past of its participants.
They fully demonstrated the might of the unity of collective by giving a good account of themselves in above-said defence sports events.
They were powerfully encouraged by spectators' shout of slogans and enthusiastic cheering.

Japanese Reactionaries under Fire for Justifying Their Visits to "Yasukuni Shrine"
Pyongyang, March 15 (KCNA) -- The Japanese ruling quarters including the chief executive and the director general of the Liberal-Democratic Party came out to justify their visits to the "Yasukuni Shrine". This is an unbearable insult to and a mockery of the victims of the crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists and their bereaved families as well as the Asian people. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed commentary.
Accusing them of asserting that it was "the sense of obligation and duty" of the Japanese people to pray for the souls of those who were killed in the way of continental aggression and remember their "exploits", the commentary goes on:
They seek to regularize, traditionalize and popularize the visit to the shrine, describing it as a token of "people's sentiment".
This is aimed to implant militarism deep into the mind of the Japanese people and thus build an ideological foundation for overseas aggression.
Such arrogant and shameless moves of the Japanese reactionaries are triggering off bitter hatred for Japan among the Korean and other Asian peoples and hardening their determination to take revenge upon it as they suffered tremendous mental, human and material damage due to its past crimes.
Those keen to repeat their crime-woven history are bound to face punishment.
The Japanese reactionaries should lend an ear to the call of the people at home and abroad for peace, away from the consciousness of militarist aggression.
U.S.-South Korea Joint Military Exercises Denounced
Pyongyang, March 15 (KCNA) -- The United States staged a large-scale military exercise in Phyongthaek area of south Korea and announced that it would launch "reception, staging, onward-movement and integration(RSOI)" and Foal Eagle military drills till late March. These military moves are dangerous ones aimed to provoke the second Korean war. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed commentary.
It goes on: The U.S. warmongers have described those war exercises as ones for "rapid retaliation". This is, however, nothing but a smokescreen to cover up the aggressive nature and danger of those military exercises.
There is no threat on the Korean peninsula that compels the U.S. to rapidly cope with.
It admits of no argument that RSOI and Foal Eagle to be launched by the U.S. together with the south Korean army with huge armed forces and military equipment involved are comprehensive test military operations to be conducted under the simulated conditions of a preemptive nuclear attack on the DPRK.
The U.S. loudmouthed negotiated settlement of the nuclear issue is a trick to ignite a war of aggression against the DPRK by aggravating the situation behind the curtain of dialogue.
The U.S. imperialists' evermore undisguised moves to invade the DPRK are only further heightening the vigilance of its army and people against the U.S. and their anti-U.S. consciousness than ever before.
The U.S. is sadly mistaken if it thinks it can easily realize its plan to invade the DPRK.
The army of the DPRK which attaches importance to military affairs is fully combat-ready and will deal merciless blows at the aggressors.
New Species of Turf Bred
Pyongyang, March 15 (KCNA) -- The Institute of City Management of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has bred a new species of turf.
It, a variety of the short golden turf, is very popular among people.
It grows only 6 centimeters so that it does not need to be cut. The new species spreads its stalks and leaves more than four times as fast as other species of the golden turf.
With nodes shorter than other species by a half, the new species strikes so many roots to cover the soil and thus prevents soil from being washed away by rain. Its thick leaves keep the soil moist, so they remain green even in the dry season. And it comes back to life easily.
The color of the turf and its seed is light green, which resembles a green carpet. The color remains unchanged by November.
The turf has been planted on Yanggak Islet and in different parts of Pyongyang.
"250-mile Journey for Learning"
Pyongyang, March 15 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung started the "250-mile Journey for Learning" on March 16, Juche 12 (1923).
He, at the age of 11, left alone Badaogou, Changbai County of China, for Mangyongdae, Pyongyang, true to the will of his father that one should know well of his country for its liberation.
During the journey from Phophyong facing China across the River Amnok to Mangyongdae, he had to pass through primitive forests and deep valleys in the face of snowstorms and bitter cold.
What agonized him was to see the motherland trampled down by the Japanese imperialists rather than undergo his physical sufferings.
On the 14th day after he left Badaogou, he entered his native home to amaze all his family members in Mangyongdae.
He, with a smile on his face, said that young as he was, he could travel two countries alone.
While studying at Changdok School, he got a better knowledge of the Korean history and geography and the situation of the homeland.
He left Mangyongdae again and embarked on the road of revolution in 1925 with a firm determination not to come back to the homeland before liberating it from the Japanese imperialists' occupation.
The Korean people have erected his statues, revolutionary museums and a schoolchildren's palace in Phophyong, Hwaphyong, Kaechon and other places to convey his revolutionary activities associated with the journey down through generations.
Schoolchildren of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea make marches along the course of the "250-mile Journey for Learning" every year to learn from the President and train their body and mind.
Maintaining Self-Respect of Working Class Called for
Pyongyang, March 15 (KCNA) -- The high-handed and arbitrary acts of the imperialists have now reached their height and the anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. confrontation is getting fiercer in the international arena. This reality requires all the people to struggle with deep self-respect of the working class.
Rodong Sinmun says this in a signed article today.
It goes on:
The self-respect of the working class serves as a powerful spiritual weapon in the struggle to realize independence of the popular masses. The people with strong self-respect of the working class can emerge victorious in the present struggle against imperialists.
The Korean people's self-respect of the working class represents the do-or-die spirit that no force on earth can defeat a people ready to die.
The self-respect of the working class serves as a powerful driving force that enables one to advance faster to attain a higher goal, remaining neither pessimistic about backwardness nor self-complacent with victory. It also serves as an ideological and moral source of producing a strong pluck to do everything one's own way, loving and valuing one's own things.
The revolutionary slogan "Let us live our own way!" can be seen wherever one goes in the DPRK. The Korean people have decisively frustrated every move of imperialists and settled every issue arising in the revolution and construction their own way under this slogan.
All the servicemen and people of the DPRK will as ever carry on their struggle with this self-respect and thus emerge victorious in the present anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. struggle and bring earlier a bright prospect of a great prosperous powerful nation.

Kim Jong Il Inspects Duck and Fish Farms
Pyongyang, March 15 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected duck and fish farms of KPA Unit 233.
After being briefed on the history of the duck farm, he looked round a duck breed house, an egg hatching room, a processing room, an assorted fodder processing room and other production process to learn in detail about its construction and the breeding of ducks.
Saying that the unit built one more edifice of eternal value where cultured practice in production is on a high level by making an effective use of locally available materials, he added this was a precious fruition of the noble spiritual world of the servicepersons who live not for today but for tomorrow with ardent love for the motherland.
He set forth tasks which would serve as guidelines in increasing the production of duck, underscoring the need for the farm to maximize its production capacity to pay off profusely.
He called for implementing to the letter the WPK's policy of effecting a radical turn in raising animal breeds, noting that it is important to choose good stock in order to boost the production of meat and eggs.
In order to bring about a radical boost in stock production it is necessary to thoroughly implement the Party's policy of combining joint stock breeding with private breeding, he said, underlining the need for all farm households to wage a vigorous mass movement to raise geese, ducks and other domestic animals.
The next leg of his visit was the fish farm of the unit.
He went round a fish breeding ground, a hatching room, a breeding pond, a feed processing room and other places to acquaint himself in detail with the fish breeding.
Noting that what is most important in developing the fish breeding under a long-term plan is to raise the level of scientization, he stressed the need to intensify the scientific research into pisciculture and apply an advanced method of breeding to steadily increase the fish production.
He repeatedly praised the efforts made by the commanding officers of the unit, greatly pleased to learn that they have done a lot of work greatly helpful to improving the diet of the soldiers in recent years, true to the instructions of President Kim Il Sung that supply service precisely means a political work.
