Day of Sun Commemorated Abroad

Pyongyang, April 7 (KCNA) -- Functions took place in different countries on the occasion of the Day of the Sun. A commemorative meeting was held at the building of the Moscow City Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation on April 2.
All the progressives of the world are significantly commemorating the birth anniversary of Kim Il Sung, the great leader of the Korean people and the most distinguished statesman in the 20th century, speakers said, noting that he dedicated all his life to the victory of the Korean revolution.
The most precious feat performed by him on behalf of humankind is that he fathered the immortal Juche idea, they said, stressing that it is an idea centered on the popular masses which the communist parties of all the countries should take as guidelines.
They continued: What is the most brilliant of his immortal feats is that he successfully settled the issue of carrying forward the cause of the Korean revolution. The Korean people are fully demonstrating the might of socialist Korea under the tested and wise guidance of Kim Jong Il.
Commemorative meetings, round-table talks, film shows, photo and book exhibitions, art performances and national Taekwon-dochampionships were held in Patapo County, Lambayeque Province of Peru, the La Industria Newspaper Office of Peru, the Rural Community of Raburuwang District, Ayuthaya Province of Thailand, by the Egyptian folk dance troupe, the Uganda-DPRK Friendship Association, the Secretariat of the Pan-African Movement in Uganda and the Bulgarian Taekwon-do Federation from March 20 to 30.
"To Hold the Fatherly Leader in High Esteem", "The Fatherly Leader Is Together with Anti-Japanese Revolutionary Fighters" and other Korean films were screened at the film shows.
A letter to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting held in Thailand.

Kim Jong Il's Work Published in Nicaragua

Pyongyang, April 7 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il's famous work "The Juche Philosophy Is an Original Revolutionary Philosophy" was published in pamphlet on March 31 by the Leon City Publishing House of Nicaragua. The work, published on July 26, Juche 85 (1996), clearly explains the originality and superiority of the Juche philosophy over the preceding philosophies of the working class and indicates that the Juche philosophy serves as the revolutionary and political philosophy of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Suppression of Political Activities in S. Korea under Fire

Pyongyang, April 7 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) reportedly issued a statement on April 3 denouncing the police authorities for cracking down on the political activities of progressive movement organizations. Recalling that the police authorities are cracking down on members of the national trade union of civil servants who held a press conference supporting the Democratic Workers' Party and on members of the leadership of the National Teachers Union (Jongyojo) who published a declaration on the situation for nullifying the "impeachment" after issuing warrants of arrest of them, the statement said that the present "law on election" is wantonly encroaching upon the freedom of speech, press, assembly, association and expression.
    It continued:
Hanchongryon will in the future lay bare the injustice of the law and actively support the struggle of the national trade union of civil servants and Jongyojo.
It will make every possible effort to build a society where free political activities of all the democratic, civic and public organizations and the just political expression of the people are ensured and liquidate the corrupt forces calling for "impeachment" in the forthcoming "general election".

Celebration Meetings Held

Pyongyang, April 7 (KCNA) -- Celebration meetings of workers and members of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK) and the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea (UAWK) were held separately on April 6 on the occasion of the 11th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK. Present there were Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, leading officials of working people's organizations and workers, members of the GFTUK and agricultural workers in Pyongyang.
Ryom Sun Gil, chairman of the Central Committee of the GFTUK, and Sung Sang Sop, chairman of the Central Committee of the UAWK, made reports at the meetings, which were followed by speeches.
The reporters and speakers said that the election of Kim Jong Il to the highest post of the Korean revolution provided a sure guarantee for firmly defending the socialist cause of Juche and successfully accomplishing it and is bringing earlier a bright future of the country of Juche when it will throw its rays over the world as a great prosperous powerful nation.
They stressed the need for the officials and members of the working people's organizations to devotedly defend Kim Jong Il and firmly prepare themselves to be the revolutionary comrades of Songun sharing their destiny with him to the last, taking it as the primary maxim in their life and struggle to devotedly defend the headquarters of the revolution.
A commemorative poem "He is our chairman of the National Defence Commission" was recited at the celebration meeting of the workers and members of the GFTUK.

Authorities' Crackdown Condemned in S. Korea

Pyongyang, April 7 (KCNA) -- The Headquarters of the Movement for the General Election reportedly made public a statement on April 3, condemning the south Korean authorities for their reckless crackdown on trade unions. The statement said that the authorities described the declaration on the situation for nullification of the impeachment and the declaration of support to the Democratic Workers' Party announced by the National Teachers Union and the national trade union of civil servants as the action of negating law and order and suppressed the chairmen of the unions on April 2, while blocking the Myongdong cultural festive for the defence of democracy which was scheduled to be held at Myongdong Cathedral.
The election management committee and the police resort to suppression on the pretext of fair election, the statement said, denouncing this as an encroachment on the right to freedom of the people under the fair-seeming signboard.
The declaration on the situation and the declaration of support are part of people's just right to the free expression of political will and the candlelight rally was also an eruption of people's resentment flailing the conservative forces' political coup, the statement said.
It demanded that the election management committee and the police stop the eccentric suppression and provide a strict standard enough to guarantee a substantially fair election.

Hanchongryon Calls for Liquidating Ultra-Right Conservative Forces

Pyongyang, April 7 (KCNA) -- Paek Jong Ho, chairman of the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon), reportedly issued a statement under the title "Ultra-right conservative forces, stop plots for coup" on April 3. The statement recalled that Kim Yong So, professor at Ehwa Woman's University, in a lecture on March 30 let loose a string of balderdash that now there is no way but a military coup for rebuilding the system of liberal democracy and, earlier, conservative organizations asserted that if the present government puts even the "National Assembly" under its control it can join hands with pro-north forces and accept the proposal for reunification by federal formula and that it is necessary to mobilize the army to put down such forces.
Such agitation for a military coup means a blatant challenge of the ultra-right conservative forces to the people who have struggled for democracy through the Kwangju popular uprising in 1980, the June 1987 people's resistance, candlelight demonstrations in memory of the two schoolgirls in 2002 and candlelight demonstrations for nullifying the "impeachment", defending democracy and realizing new politics in 2004, the statement said, adding: Hanchongryon will join the people in their struggle to judge the ultra-right forces agitating the military coup in the forthcoming "general election" and realize new politics.

Slogans of Struggle Issued

Pyongyang, April 7 (KCNA) -- The Information Department of the Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea on March 31 made public slogans of struggle to shatter the plot of the United States and rightist conservative forces to scuttle the April "general election" in south Korea, according to the internet site Kuguk Jonson. The slogans called for resolutely checking the plot of the U.S. and rightist conservative forces to scuttle the "general election" and shattering the U.S. plot to postpone it through all-people resistance.
Calling for turning the "general election" into a scene of judgment to put an end to the U.S. interference in the internal affairs of south Korea, the slogans appealed to the voters to conclude the struggle against the "impeachment" with a victory in the "general election".

Jong Sun Dok Remembered

Pyongyang, April 7 (KCNA) -- A memorial service for martyr Jong Sun Dok, an unconverted long-term prisoner of south Korea, was held in Pyongyang on April 6 under the sponsorship of the Korean Measure Committee for Rescuing Unconverted Long-term Prisoners in south Korea. Jong shed blood in the fight for national reunification as a brave woman guerrilla. She died of a long illness caused by long prison life and savage torture in south Korea on April 1 before seeing the day of reunification.
Hung in the venue of the memorial service was her portrait framed with a black ribbon. Placed before it were wreaths in the name of the Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, the Korean Measure Committee for Rescuing Unconverted Long-term Prisoners in south Korea, the unconverted long-term prisoners, the National Reconciliation Council, the North Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification and the North Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification.
Its participants observed a moment's silence in memory of Jong who devoted her whole life to the cause of national reunification.
Mun Jae Chol, chairman of the Korean Measure Committee for Rescuing Unconverted Long-term Prisoners in south Korea, and Kim Tong Gi, an unconverted long-term prisoner, made memorial addresses at the service.
A memorial poem was recited there.

Truth behind "Impeachment" in S. Korea Opened

Pyongyang, April 7 (KCNA) -- The National Reunification Institute issued an open letter on April 6 to inform the world of the whole story, background and the manipulation of the "impeachment" in south Korea. According to the open letter, such a dramatic development as the "change of regime between the ruling and opposition parties" took place in south Korea with the 15th "presidential election" in 1997 as a momentum. The ultra-rightist conservative forces including the Grand National Party was defeated once again at the 16th "presidential election" in 2002. As a result, they resorted to a brigandish method of seizing the regime with strength as gangsters did after being defeating in the twice consecutive "presidential elections". With bloodshot eyes on seizing the regime they began the "impeachment against the president" by taking it as a golden opportunity that the chief executive of south Korea made remarks supporting the Uri Party at a "special invitational lecture" on February 24 on the occasion of the first anniversary of his assumption of office as president. On March 9 they submitted to the "National Assembly" the "motion on the impeachment against the president" by adding the blame for "scandals of his close associates" and "failure of economy" to the "breach of the law on election". On March 11 they assembled the dissident law makers and even non-affiliated national assemblymen, secured the voting machine and thus used strength to railroad the "motion on impeachment" at the NA. At 11:30 a.m. of March 12 the opposition party gentries who totally "put the NA building under their control" declared the "passage" of the "motion on impeachment against the president" only in 27 minutes after voting started, with the result that unheard of "impeachment" development was caused in south Korea. This is the last-ditch efforts of those upset by the rapid growth of the patriotic forces for national independence and reunification in south Korea. The historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration opened a new era of the Korean nation itself. Road and railway links, sea and air routines are open between the north and the south through which people of all social standings come and go and dialogue, contacts and cooperation are progressing apace between them. This made pro-U.S. sycophantic elements shudder. The "impeachment" development in south Korea shows an extremely anachronistic rebellion drama of the conservative forces to swim against the trend of the times toward independence, democracy and reunification and turn back the history to prolong their remaining days. The "impeachment" development in south Korea is the most despicable outcome produced by the old and corrupt socio-political system. The "impeachment" can be considered to be a fight between a big thief and a small thief in any sense. The ruling party said that as the total amount of money it swallowed up is less one tenth than what the GNP did, it would tender the "president's" resignation if it is surpassed. Meanwhile, the GNP, taking issue with the ruling party's "remarks about one tenth", blustered that the president should step down as promised because the limit passed. This is just like a thief crying "Stop the thief!" The scramble for power was more shameful. By nature, it can be said that the Grand National Party and the Democratic Party are in hostile relations as they are contrary to each other in the light of their roots, compositions and isms. The two diagonally opposite parties led the "impeachment" in conspiracy. The "impeachment" is a most barbarous violence caused by the illegal and lawless darkness and mediaeval political backwardness. It was a bloodless political coup, which was manipulated by the United States behind the scene. The legitimate establishment of the "government for the people" supported by the anti-U.S. independent forces for the first time in south Korea made the U.S. feel deep apprehensions. The U.S. made the first-stage operation to torment and suffocate the "government for the people" and let it step down of its own accord and then the second-stage operation to circulate a rumor about "impeachment" and then push forward it. It made the third-stage operation of forcibly promoting it. Particularly, when the situation reached the climax with the "motion on impeachment" submitted to the NA and being approved of it, the U.S. State Department, the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency and others directly commanded the operations, receiving in detail reports about the "impeachment" through the U.S. embassy in Seoul and other local ruling machines and information network. On March 13, the next day when the "motion on impeachment" was passed through the NA, the U.S. rapidly dispatched the secretary of the Department of Inter-Security to south Korea to meet "Prime Minister" Ko Kon who is to assume the "office of acting president" before anyone else as a "foreign envoy" and thus orchestrated a burlesque of officially recognizing the "impeachment". The U.S. "March 12 impeachment" was prompted by its strategic aim to refrain south Korea from conducting national cooperation with the DPRK, embroil the present south Korean regime more deeply into its anti-DPRK nuclear racket and its policy of stifling the DPRK and push ahead with the formation of a "siege on north Korea and continent" in Asia through the U.S.-Japan-south Korea tripartite cooperation. South Korea is in a political catastrophe and a state of anarchy owing to the "impeachment". The people are getting into rage. At least 1.6 million south Korean people have staged candlelight demonstrations against the "impeachment" since the "railroad" of the "motion on impeachment" through the NA. The number of organizations that participated in them is over 9,200. "One million-people meetings for nullifying the impeachment and defending democracy" were simultaneously held in Seoul and other areas of south Korea on March 20. A 10 million signature campaign against the "impeachment" is being conducted and a "campaign for voting down national assemblymen who approved the motion on impeachment" is gaining in momentum. The opposition parties including the GNP became a family in mourning. The rate of supporting them dramatically dropped and they are in a crisis of bankruptcy as curses, like chickens, come home to roost. As the "impeachment" development is not progressing as intended by it, the United States is giving impetus to war moves, irritated at this. Some days ago, it announced the plan to deploy an update destroyer Aegis in the East Sea of Korea which has been deployed only in the major dispute areas and strategic regions. When an opportunity presents itself, the U.S. can kick up a military coup under the pretext of the confused south Korean political situation and unleash a war against the DPRK through military provocations along the Military Demarcation Line. The proof of this is the recent incidents in Iraq, Haiti and Georgia. The historic lesson shows that the U.S. left no stone unturned to meet its strategic interests. If the U.S. and the south Korean conservative forces orchestrate other play under the pretext of the situation caused in the wake of the passage of the "motion on impeachment" through the NA and the political situation confused before the "general election", they will stir up greater resentment of the people and face all-people resistance stronger than the April 19 popular uprising and the May 18 Kwangju popular uprising.

DPRK Will Answer with Super-Tough Measure

Pyongyang, April 7 (KCNA) -- The United States is now getting over-heated in its attempts to stifle the DPRK by military force, openly revealing its bandit-like nature. The DPRK will answer this with a super-tough measure. Minju Joson declares this in a commentary today.
    The news analyst says:
While intensifying anti-DPRK moves on the Korean peninsula, the United States is setting afloat rumors that it is gaining military "supremacy" over the DPRK so that the latter may not take a tough stand. If we follow the U.S. logic, the responsibility for the strained situation on the Korean Peninsula rests with the DPRK taking a tough stand.
The gangster logic of the United States can never go down with us, even if it might be acceptable to anyone else. What is clear is that the U.S. does not seek dialogue with the DPRK but is trying to disarm it and stifle it by military force at any cost. This invariable scheme of the U.S. compels the DPRK to take a counter measure for putting fresh muscles into its military deterrent force to defend its sovereignty.
The DPRK's tough measure against the U.S. is an entirely just one allowed by the self-defensive option of a sovereign state. No one can take issue with it.
On this occasion the DPRK advises the U.S. once again to behave with discretion, seeing who is its adversary.
Should the U.S. persist in its attempts to stifle the DPRK by military force, ignoring this warning, it would find itself fully to blame for all the unforeseeable consequences to be entailed by them. It would be too late, however bitterly it may repent of this then.

Vigilance against Japan's Reinvasion Moves Urged

Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary calls for guard against the reinvasion moves of Japan with regard to the very ominous military measures taken by it jointly with the United States to stifle the DPRK. The commentary says:
The military moves of the U.S. and Japan targeted at the DPRK have become noticeably intensified. A typical example is the computer-aided U.S.-Japan mock joint war game code-named "Yamasakura-45" biggest ever in history which was staged recently in Japan.
The U.S. and Japan are planning to stage more than 10 joint military exercises of all arms of the three services and 3 to 5 large-scale joint military rehearsals of the three services this year. These are very ill-boding military steps aimed to stifle the DPRK.
What merits special attention here is that Japan, instigated by the U.S., is working to carry into practice at any cost its wild designs to turn itself into a military power and stage a comeback to Korea.
Japan is abusing the nuclear issue of the Korean peninsula as a lever for realizing its wild ambition to become a military power and stage a comeback to Korea, while creating an atmosphere of military pressure upon the DPRK and rendering the situation strained through joint war games with the U.S.
Now Japan is bursting into limelight as a dangerous aggressive force and a war-seeking state and fully assuming the aggressive, brigandish and bellicose nature of "the Great Empire of Japan" which ran mad in the conquest of Asia and the world in the past. If Japan's moves for militarization and overseas aggression are allowed, it will result in bringing back the hurricane of war of Japan which swept the Asia-Pacific region in the last century. Its war hurricane in the 21st century will bring more disastrous consequences than that in the 20th century.
War and disasters should be prevented. The people of the world aspiring after independence and peace should clearly see the aggressive colors of Japan and its danger and vigorously turn out in the joint action to halt and frustrate its moves of militarization and overseas aggression.
