Implementation of North-South Joint Declaration Called for

     Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- Political parties and organizations of different countries issued statements on the occasion of the 4th anniversary of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration. The Workers' Party, the Communist Party, the Socialist Party, the Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist), the National Socialist Party and the Socialist Party of Bangladesh and the Bangladesh-Korea Friendship in a joint statement on June 9 once again called for the implementation of the joint declaration.
    Saying four years have passed since the publication of the joint declaration, the statement noted that peace and reunification of Korea, being an important political issue related to peace in Asia and the rest of the world, can be successfully achieved only when the joint declaration is fully implemented.
    The National Movement of the Genuine Lumumbist Combatants of Democratic Congo, the Socialist People's Alliance of Democratic Congo, the Democratic Congo-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Association and the Working People's Association of Democratic Congo in a joint statement on June 11 said the change in the relations between the north and the south of Korea is the fruition of the June 15 joint declaration.
    Holding that the joint declaration should be implemented to the letter for the Korean reunification, the statement called for rejecting foreign interference in the Korean issue and demanded the sycophantic and treacherous forces in south Korea halt their anti-reunification acts.
    The Dominican Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification in a statement on June 14 on the occasion of the 4th anniversary of the joint declaration expressed its will to steadily intensify the movement for solidarity with the just cause of the Korean people to build a great prosperous powerful socialist nation and achieve national reunification.

Protocol on Scientific Cooperation Signed

     Moscow, June 18 (KCNA) -- A protocol on 2005-2007 scientific cooperation between the DPRK Academy of Sciences and the Russian Academy of Sciences was signed in Moscow on June 18. Present at the signing ceremony were a DPRK delegation of the Academy of Sciences headed by Pyon Yong Rip who is president of the Academy, Russian Academy of Sciences President Yuri Ossipov and leading officials of the Academy, DPRK Ambassador E. P. to the Russian Federation Pak Ui Chun and staff members of the embassy.
    The protocol was signed by Pyon Yong Rip and Yuri Ossipov.

Joint Concert Held

     Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- A joint concert of the Band of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and vocal soloists of Italy was given at the Mansudae Art Theatre Saturday to mark the 40th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. Among the audience were Choe Thae Bok, Yang Hyong Sop, Jong Ha Chol, officials concerned and creators and artistes in the field of culture and art.
    Also seeing it were Antonino Bevacqua, professor of vocal music at Santa Cecilia State Conservatory of Italy, and his party.
    The skilful musicians of the band and Italian vocal soloists who are international concours winners put on the stage Korean-and world-famous songs prepared with utmost care to mark the significant day.
    The Korean musicians impressively presented orchestral music "Song Devoted to Comrade Kim Jong Il" and "Thunder on Jong Il Peak."
    Italian soloists presented male baritone solo, female soprano and other numbers to the accompaniment of the playing of the band.
    Put on the stage was an orchestral music and chorus "Snow Flakes Falling from Nocturnal Sky" performed by the band and the State Merited Chorus of the Korean People's Army.
    The concert was acclaimed by the audience for the high artistry, rich emotion, refined rendition skill and well-knit ensemble of the performers.
    A floral basket was presented to the performers in congratulation of their successful performance.

Congratulatory Letter to Kim Jong Il from Military Attaches Corps

     Pyongyang, June 19 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il received a congratulatory letter from the military attaches corps here on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of his start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. Abdullah Hamidi Benam, military attache of the Iranian embassy here who is doyen of the military attaches corps, conveyed the letter to Vice Marshal of the Korean People's Army Kim Il Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, on June 18.

Russian Diplomats Help Korean Farmers

     Pyongyang, June 19 (KCNA) -- Ambassador Andrei Karlov and staff members of the Russian embassy in Pyongyang on June 18 helped members of the DPRK-Russia Friendship Kochang Co-op Farm in Chollima County, South Phyongan Province, in farm work. The guests helped farmers in weeding on a maize field.
    During break, the guests conversed and sang songs with farmers, deepening the friendship.
    The ambassador said that he was glad to work with farmers at the friendship co-op farm when the 40th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's start of work at the C.C., the WPK is being significantly commemorated and wished the farm success in this year's agricultural production.
    That day staff members of the Russian embassy handed aid materials to the farm.

Floral Basket to Kim Jong Il

     Pyongyang, June 19 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il received a floral basket from the Chinese embassy here on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of his start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. It was conveyed to an official concerned by Wu Donghe, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK, on Friday.
    Written on the ribbon of the floral basket were letters "We warmly congratulate General Secretary Kim Jong Il on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of your start of work at the Central Committee of the Party".
    Also conveyed to the official concerned was a gift to Kim Jong Il presented by Wu Donghe.

Internat'l Scientific Symposium on Potato Held

     Pyongyang, June 19 (KCNA) -- An international scientific symposium on potato was held here from June 16 to 18. Present at the symposium were representatives of the DPRK, international organizations and various countries, the resident coordinator of the Federal Department of the Foreign Affairs of Swiss Confederation and members of the missions of international organizations and officials of different embassies here.
    Kye Yong Sam, president of the Academy of Agriculture, in an address at an opening ceremony extended thanks to the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation of Foreign Affairs and the International Center for Potato Cultivation for having rendered sincere aid and positive support for the success of the symposium and to those organizations and institutions of different countries for having sent scientists and technicians in the field of potato research to the DPRK.
    He expressed the belief that the symposium would offer an occasion for a wide-range discussion of theoretical and practical issues arising in putting the potato farming on scientific and modern basis, increasing potato production and expanding their application.
    Kim Hyok Jin, vice-minister of Agriculture, at a congratulatory speech referred to the fact that leader Kim Jong Il, with a deep insight into the significance of potato farming, initiated a drive to effect a signal turn in potato farming and has wisely led it, thus bringing about a radical boost in potato cultivation in the country.
    He expressed the conviction that the symposium would help widely swap advanced scientific and technological achievements and good experience gained by various countries and regions.
    Resident Coordinator Ueli Muller, speaking at the symposium, said that he was pleased with the present remarkable boost in potato cultivation in the DPRK and hoped that the symposium would offer an important occasion for scientific exchange and cooperation in potato cultivation.

     Pyongyang, June 19 (KCNA) -- It is a clear proof of the tremendous vitality of the June 15 joint declaration that the banner of the spirit of "By our nation itself" is fluttering over the land of three thousand-ri and the national reunification movement has been put on the orbit of independence, says Rodong Sinmun Saturday in a signed article carried in connection with the fact that the historic day, the 4th anniversary of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, was significantly observed. Over the last four years during which Koreans have implemented the June 15 joint declaration, they have learned the truth that it is the shortcut to reunification for the Koreans to join efforts and maintained the independent stand to solve the reunification issue through national cooperation without depending on others, the article says, and continues:
    The period since the adoption of the June 15 joint declaration witnessed multi-channeled talks between the authorities in the north and the south including more than 10 rounds of ministerial talks. There have been wide-range dialogues and contacts between personages from all walks of life and organizations in the north and the south and overseas.

Celebration Meetings Held in Local Areas and at KPA Units

     Pyongyang, June 19 (KCNA) -- Meetings were held in all provinces, cities and counties across the country and at units of the three services of the Korean People's Army (KPA) on Friday to celebrate the 40th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK). The reporters at the meetings referred to the immortal exploits performed by Kim Jong Il who has set a brilliant example in building a revolutionary party with his outstanding idea and leadership despite all challenges of history for the last 40 years in the nearly 60 year-long glorious history of the WPK.
    He formulated President Kim Il Sung's revolutionary idea as an integral system of the idea, theory and method of Juche and declared it as the guiding idea of the revolution in the present times, they noted, adding that on this basis, he unrolled the programme for modeling the whole society on the Juche idea, thereby perfectly settling the issue of the guiding idea and supreme programme of the WPK.
    They went on: Kim Jong Il laid down the WPK's traditional benevolent politics, politics of love and trust, as a socialist political mode and has successfully enforced it. He has thus successfully achieved the single-hearted unity of the leader, the Party and the popular masses and led the WPK to strictly abide by the basic principles governing the revolutionary party construction in its activities to develop the Party into an invincible socialist ruling party.

     Pyongyang, June 19 (KCNA) -- The DPRK was introduced by Internet on a world-wide scale. A number of independent and progressive parties, organizations, institutions and public figures in foreign countries including Belgium, Peru, Spain, Poland, Italy and the Czech Republic carried in internet homepages materials showing the wise leadership, immortal exploits and noble virtues of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il, and documents, photos, films and other information introducing the true feature of Korea.
    The Belgian Labour Party, the Communist Party of Peru (Red Motherland) and the Peruvian newspaper "Nuestra bandera" edited articles titled "Kim Il Sung decorating the 20th Century" and "Kim Jong Il, unique political mode".
    The Association for Friendship with the Korean People in Spain edited photos and articles introducing the DPRK and posted the Korean documentary films in Internet homepage consisting of six chapters.
    The homepage "Juche", specialized in introducing the Juche Idea, was opened by the Italian Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea.
    The homepage consists of three chapters including "The Democratic People's Republic of Korea" and "Information" under the title "Korea is one !" against the background of a picture of the world progressive people holding aloft the torch of Juche. It introduces the history, the Juche Idea, reunification, landscape, health care, education and other sectors of the DPRK and carries photos and explanatory notes on the Tower of the Juche Idea, the Monument to Party Founding, the Chollima Statue, the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre and other monumental edifices.
    A great number of associations, groups and clubs in Britain, the U.S., Jordan and other countries introduced the DPRK and conducted solidarity activities through Internet.
    Last year the British Society for the Study of Songun Politics carried photos showing the revolutionary activities of Kim Jong Il, pictures Kim Il Sung had taken with Kim Jong Suk, an anti-Japanese war woman hero, photos showing the invincible might of the Korean People's Army and articles titled "Glorious Supreme Commander of the People" and "Kim Jong Suk, woman general of Mt. Paektu" on the occasion of her birthday (Dec 24). In April this year it carried a special write-up of photos and articles showing the revolutionary history and exploits of Kim Il Sung under the title "Generalissimo Kim Il Sung Is the Eternal Red Sun of Juche".
    In the beginning of this year, the U.S. Group for the Study of Songun Politics established homepage titled "The Room for the Study of the Red Sun of Militant Socialism of Juche" and screened pictures of Kim Il Sung had taken with Kim Jong Il and edited more than 100 wise sayings of Kim Jong Il in booklet and introduced the articles on his greatness in over 30 progressive websites in the U.S. and other countries.
    In February and April the group opened "A special commemoration page of Kim Jong Il" and edited more than 100 propositions from Kim Il Sung's reminiscences "With the Century" and his brief biography, Kim Jong Il's famous works and propositions, articles headlined "President Kim Il Sung, the Eternal Sun" and "Ever Shining Exploit of the President" and e-book "Question and Answer on the Juche Idea".

Russian Dance Company Gives Performances in Wonsan

     Wonsan, June 18 (KCNA) -- The visiting State Academic Moiseyev Folk Dance Company of Russia gave performances in Wonsan on June 17 and 18. It was appreciated by Ko Jong Dok, chairman of the Kangwon Provincial People's Committee, Ju Kyong Jun, secretary of the Kangwon Provincial Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned, servicepersons of the Korean People's Army, and working people from all walks of life in the city.
    The company raised curtain with the approach of significant June 19 and put on the stage colorful numbers they prepared with sincerity.
    Dances including "Guerrillas" and "Summer" reflecting the heroic trait and patriotic spirit of the Soviet people displayed in the just struggle against fascism during the Great Patriotic War were acclaimed by the audience for the high ideological value and wonderful artistic skill of the performers.

Letter to Kim Jong Il from NDFSK Central Committee

     Pyongyang, June 19 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il received a letter from the Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of south Korea Saturday on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of his start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. During the past four decades you have led the WPK along the only road of victory and performed immortal exploits with the most outstanding leadership in the world, reflecting the need of the times and the desire of the people, the letter said, and went on:
    You, endowed with gifted wisdom, have glorified the revolutionary idea of President Kim Il Sung as the only idea guiding the era of independence through your energetic ideological and theoretical activities. This has been recorded as a remarkably great exploit in strengthening and developing the WPK.
    The WPK has converted the north into an ideologically, politically and militarily strong power and won one victory after another in fierce confrontation with the U.S. and stood in the spotlight of the world as a conning tower defending the peace and stability of the world on the anti-imperialist and military forefront.
    These results have been possible thanks to you.
    The letter noted that as Kim Jong Il brought about a signal turn in the movement for national reunification true to the noble intention of President Kim Il Sung, reconciliation, unity, cooperation and exchange between the south and the north have gained momentum under the banner of "By our nation itself" and a new era of independence and reunification dawned in the wake of the publication of the June 15 joint declaration in which the song "We Are One" is reverberating far and wide in the land of three thousand-ri.

DPRK FM Spokesman Refutes U.S. Much Ado about "Flesh Traffic"

     Pyongyang, June 19 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry Saturday gave an answer to a question put by KCNA as regards the U.S. renewed accusation against the DPRK over the "issue of flesh traffic." It says:
    The U.S. Department of State in a "report on flesh traffic" on June 14 dealt with "flesh traffic" in at least 130 countries as it pleased. In the report it malignantly slandered the DPRK, absurdly asserting that it is a "source of flesh traffic" and "it does not have even the lowest standard for combating flesh traffic".
    This is nothing but a sheer fabrication as it is stereotyped sophism the U.S. used every year to pull up the independent countries which refuse to meekly obey it.
    Flesh traffic, in fact, originated from the U.S.
    It is an undeniable historical fact that the U.S. is a rouge state as it exterminated many Indians and got rich through slave trade and other flesh traffic.
    The U.S. is repeating this blood-stained history. It is ill-famed for being a barren land of human rights in the 21st century as it is committing genocide of contemporary form in different parts of the world including Iraq.
    The U.S. is behaving as if it were a world human rights judge, oblivious of its miserable situation where it is under world curse and fire for being a kingpin of mass killings and human rights abuses. This is nothing but a scoff of the world.
    The U.S. should know that such a thing as "flesh traffic" can never exist in the DPRK in the light of the nature of the Korean-style socialist system based on the man-centred Juche idea.
    The desperate efforts on the part of the Bush administration to tarnish the image of the DPRK and internationally isolate and stifle it will only harden the will of the army and people of the DPRK to firmly defend the socialist system.

DPRK Government Trade Delegation Leaves for Malaysia and Thailand

Kim Jong Il Enjoys Performance Given by Wangjaesan Light Music Band

     Pyongyang, June 19 (KCNA)-- Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, enjoyed a performance given by the Wangjaesan Light Music Band. Among the audience were Kim Yong Chun, chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, and other senior officials of the Party and the army.

Kim Jong Il Receives Pair of White Tigers as Gift

     Pyongyang, June 19 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il was presented with a pair of white tigers by a Korean Choe Su Jin, general manager of the National Economic Development General Corporation in Heilongjiang Province, China, on a visit to the socialist homeland. The white tiger is a rare animal whose number is very small in the world.

Venezuela: obra de Kim Il Sung

     Pyongyang, 19 de junio (ATCC) -- La Editorial del Partido Comunista de Venezuela dio a luz en folleto la obra del Presidente Kim Il Sung "Evitar la guerra y preservar la paz es la inminente tarea de la humanidad", publicada el 6 de septiembre del 75 (1986) de la Era Juche. Esta obra menciona los esfuerzos del Partido del Trabajo de Corea y el gobierno de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea por hacer frente a la politica de agresion de EE.UU., relajar la tension en la Peninsula Coreana y por resolver por via pacifica todos los problemas concernientes a esta area. Estuvieron presentes los delegados de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, las organizaciones internacionales y varios paises, el representante permanente del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de la Confederacion Suiza y los miembros de las representaciones de las entidades internacionales y las embajadas de varios paises en Corea.
    El presidente de la Academia de Ciencia Agricola, Kye Yong Sam, en su discurso inaugural, agradecio a la Direccion General de Cooperacion del MINREX de Suiza y el Centro Internacional de la Patata, a si como a las organizaciones y los organos de varios paises que enviaron los cientificos y tecnicos del sector de investigacion de patatas a la cita por el sincero apoyo y activa ayuda para la realizacion exitosa del simposio.
    Expreso conviccion de que el presente simposio debatira ampliamente los problemas teorico-practicos que se presentan para realizar la cientifizacion y la modernizacion del cultivo de patatas, aumentar su produccion y ampliar gama de su uso.
    El viceministro de Agricultura, Kim Hyok Jin, en su discurso de felicitacion, senalo que hoy se opera un cambio en el cultivo de patatas de nuestro pais gracias a que el Dirigente Kim Jong Il, percatado profundamente del significado de este ramo, lo orienta sabiamente luego de dar iniciativa a producir una revolucion en este sector.
    Expreso la esperanza de que a traves del presente simposio se intercambiaran ampliamente los logros cientificos y tecnicos avanzados y las valiosas experiencias logradas en varios paises y regiones.
    Ueli Muller, representante permanente del MINREX de Suiza en Corea, en su intervencion, dijo que estaba muy regocijado del cambio milagroso operado en el cultivo de patatas de Corea y deseo que el presente simposio sirva de un importante motivo para el intercambio y la cooperacion cientificos del cultivo de patatas.
    Acto seguido, intervinieron los cientificos e investigadores de varios paises.En el simposio fue aprobada una carta dirigida al Dirigente Kim Jong Il.
    Fue publicado un memorandum relativo a la efectuacion exitosa del simposio.
