Kim Il Sung's Feats Praised

     Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- Meetings to remember President Kim Il Sung were held by the Bulgarian Communists Union, the Congolese Socialist Party, the Tanzania-DPRK Friendship Association, the Lao Federation of Trade Unions and the Sunbula International Friendship Club of Libya from July 3 to 7 on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of his demise. Atanas Ivanov, secretary of the Bulgarian Communists Union, in a speech highly praised the immortal feats Kim Il Sung performed in building Korean style socialism and carrying out the cause of global independence.
    F. Lyimo, vice-chairman of the Tanzania-DPRK Friendship Association who is vice-chairman of the Tanzanian National Committee to Remember President Kim Il Sung, in a speech stressed that Kim Il Sung, father of socialist Korea, always lives in the hearts of humankind. Leader Kim Jong Il is firmly defending the dignity and sovereignty of the nation with his original Songun politics and wisely leading the Korean people in their struggle to build a great prosperous powerful nation and reunify the country, true to the behests of Kim Il Sung, he added.
    Hasanul Huq Inu, chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Bangladesh National Socialist Party, in a statement issued to the press on July 8 said the victorious advance of the cause of global independence in the 20th century was unthinkable without Kim Il Sung. He was respected and praised by all people for his noble idea and feats, the chairman noted, stressing that today world progressive humankind is highly praising Kim Jong Il for having set a brilliant example in perpetuating the memory of the President and invariably upholding the revolutionary history and feats of Kim Il Sung and the spirit of the Korean people carrying forward the history of the President as the sun, united close around Kim Jong Il.

National ICM Training Center Opens

     Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- The National Training Center on Integrated Coastal Management was opened. The centre, furnished with educational equipment for operation with the cooperation of the PEMSEA regional programme of the International Maritime Organization, will train experts for the national integrated coastal management.
    An opening ceremony took place at Kim Il Sung University on July 14.
    At the ceremony speakers referred to the importance for every country and region to strengthen international cooperation to protect ecological environment and ensure its sustainable development with increased common responsibility.
    They underscored the need for the members of the centre to acquire a wealth of knowledge and experience in order to successfully conduct the integrated management of coastal areas and territorial waters.
    They expressed the expectation that the centre would contribute to preventing coastal and sea pollution, developing and using precious aquatic resources and protecting the environment in the waters off East Asia.

Conv. of World Meeting for Supporting Ind. and Peaceful Reunification of Korea Called for

     Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- The International Liaison Committee for Reunification and Peace in Korea, the Eastern European Centre for the Support and Solidarity to the DPRK and the Latin American and Caribbean Regional Committee to Support the Reunification of Korea called for convening a world meeting for supporting the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea in a "joint appeal to all the international and regional, national organizations and bodies struggling to defend sovereignty, independence and right to national self-determination and wishing for world stability and peace" which was published in Paris on July 12. The appeal notes that the U.S. policy of interfering in the internal affairs of the Korean nation, its military domination over south Korea and constant threat of aggression against the DPRK have reached an extremely dangerous line and are throwing a snag in the way of the affirmative progress on the Korean peninsula.
    The world progressive forces can never tolerate such hostile policy of the U.S. against the DPRK, an independent and legitimate member nation of the United Nations, nor can allow the U.S. war policy threatening the Korean nation's right to existence and peace in Asia and the rest of the world, it says.
    It calls upon the representatives of international, regional and national organizations and bodies involved in the movement for the reunification and peace of Korea, champions for peace against war and media men to positively support the initiative for convening a world meeting for supporting the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea and put forward more active proposals for the success of the meeting for strengthened solidarity with the Korean people and justice and peace in the world.

Seminar on Kim Jong Il's Work Held in Nepal

     Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- A seminar on leader Kim Jong Il's famous work "Let Us Carry Out the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung's Instructions for National Reunification" was held in Tulikhel City of Nepal on July 3 under the co-sponsorship of its various organizations. Subash Kaji Shrestha, chairman of the Kabre Forum for Self-Reliance Studies, Nepal, in a speech, said the last decade was a period when great miracles have been wrought in the DPRK, adding that the positive developments on the Korean peninsula are a clear proof of the validity and vitality of this work.
    He noted that this work helped him keenly realize the loyalty of Kim Jong Il as a great man to the leader of the revolution.
    The former minister of State for Labor of Nepal said in a speech Kim Jong Il in his work indicated the way of carrying through Kim Il Sung's instructions, praising the feats of Kim Il Sung only, not himself. This work is a historic treasure to be eternally preserved even after the reunification of Korea, he said, stressing that the Korean people are, indeed, happy as they are holding in high esteem another great leader identical to Kim Il Sung.

Floral Baskets Laid before Kim Il Sung's Portraits

     Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- Functions took place at Kim Il Sung Economic Special School of Cuba and in Cotonou of Benin on July 8 to lay floral baskets before portraits of President Kim Il Sung on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of his demise. The participants laid floral baskets before his portraits and observed a moment's silence in his memory.
    Juan Jose Leon Vega, chairman of the Cuban Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification, said the death of Kim Il Sung was a great loss not only for the Korean people but for the world progressives. He struggled for the Korean revolution and the world revolution to the last moments of his life, the chairman noted, adding: Though he passed away, Kim Il Sung will always live in the hearts of the Korean people and the world progressive people for the feats he performed for the Korean revolution and the cause of global independence.
    Hessou Kohovi, chairman of the Benin-Korea Amicable Association "Long Live Kim Jong Il, Supreme Leader" and chairman of the Benin National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea and of General Kim Jong Il's Works, stressed that though he passed away, Kim Il Sung's idea and feats are immortal.

Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il Praised

     Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- Vital Kamerhe, secretary general of the National Executive Committee of the People's Party for the Reconstruction and Democracy of Democratic Congo, highly praised President Kim Il Sung and Leader Kim Jong Il. When Ri Won Son, DPRK ambassador to his country, paid a courtesy call on him on July 9, the secretary general said Kim Il Sung was the most distinguished leader of the 20th century and peerlessly great man who made immortal contributions to the cause of global independence.
    Saying Kim Jong Il is the greatest sage of sages, the secretary general noted that the United States dare not flout the single-heartedly united DPRK possessed of powerful defense capabilities, though it is foolishly attempting to pull the latter up over the nuclear issue, because it is under his Songun leadership.
    He stated that his party would assiduously learn from the experience of the Workers' Party of Korea and make energetic efforts to develop the relations between the two parties.

S. Korean Peasants Urge Defense of Food Sov. and Withdrawal of Decision on Troop Dispatch

     Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- South Korean peasants organizations reportedly formed in Jeju Island "a grand national march group of peasants for defense of food sovereignty and withdrawal of the decision on troop dispatch" and held its inaugural ceremony on July 8. Present there were Mun Kyong Sik, chairman of the south Korean Federation of Peasants Associations, and members of peasants organizations.
    The group started a grand march to all parts of south Korea that day, divided into east and west corps.
    Upon arrival in Pusan on July 9, the east corps held a rally against the WTO-sponsored opening of the rice market and for defense of food sovereignty with the attendance of members of civic and public organizations.
    The speakers at the rally said the issue of opening the rice market was an important matter related not only to the peasants but also to all other people. They called upon all the people to turn out in the struggle to check it.
    At the end of the rally the participants went into information activities, marching through streets.
    Then they held "a round-table conversation of civic and public organizations in Pusan to oppose the opening of the rice market, defend food sovereignty and check troop dispatch."

Struggle to Check Troop Dispatch to Iraq in Seoul

     Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- A grand march for peace and a candlelight meeting for decisively checking troop dispatch to Iraq was reportedly held in Seoul on July 10 under the sponsorship of the People's Action against Troop Dispatch. The march began with a meeting opposing troop dispatch to Iraq at Jongmyo Park in Seoul. Speeches were made by people from all walks of life at the meeting.
    Han Sang Ryol, permanent representative of the Reunification Solidarity, called for terminating the humiliating "south Korea-U.S. alliance" and making the nation's new history.
    Kang Sung Gyu, senior vice-chairman of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, said the organization would wage a more dynamic struggle against troop dispatch through the third general strike next week.
    Kim Hye Gyong, representative of the Democratic Workers' Party, stressed the need to launch a struggle to check troop dispatch to Iraq to the end.
    A resolution was read out at the meeting.
    Then the participants marched as far as Kwanghwamun, shouting such slogans as "We denounce U.S. troops for pressuring south Korea to dispatch troops" and "Withdraw the decision on troop dispatch to Iraq".
    When the riot police prevented the participants from marching towards "Chongwadae," they offered strong resistance against the police force.
    Enraged at the suppression, they held a candlelight meeting on the spot.
    They renewed their will to carry on the struggle against troop dispatch to the last, shouting with candlelights in hands "The authorities should either withdraw the decision on troop dispatch or step down."

Great National Unity Called for

     Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) --The Korean nation-first spirit, indeed, serves as a banner of the great unity in the era of national independence and reunification as it lets all Koreans aspiring after national independence and patriotism firmly join the ranks for national reunification, says Rodong Sinmun Thursday in a signed article. It goes on:
    For Koreans living separated in the north and the south to achieve great unity irrespective of differing ideas and isms, there should be an idea for unity that can win sympathy of any members of the nation. This is the idea of national independence and patriotism set out by leader Kim Jong Il in the five-point policy of the great national unity.
    National independence is the idea reflecting the aspiration and demand common to the nation.
    The Korean nation was split against its will by foreign forces in the middle of the 20th century. It is bitter shame on the nation that the U.S. imperialists are allowed to behave in south Korea as a dominator, trampling underfoot the dignity and sovereignty of the Korean nation. It is the unanimous aspiration and will of the Korean nation to retake the dignity of the nation and demonstrate once again to the world the indomitable spirit as an independent people by putting a definite end to the U.S. domination and interference in south Korea.
    Patriotism is the idea which all the members of the nation can sympathize with and accept, irrespective of idea and social system.
    There are various differences as the Koreans in the north and the south have lived separated for more than half a century, but the commonness as a homogenous nation is much greater than them. Only when all Koreans display to the full patriotism enshrined in their hearts can they achieve great unity irrespective of all differences and settle any difficult issues related to national reunification by their concerted efforts.
    The Korean nation should fully materialize the idea of national independence and patriotism, the best idea common to the nation and an ideological and mental foundation of national unity. This means the Korean nation-first spirit.

Education in Juche Idea Attains Greater Depth in Songun Era

     Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Thursday dedicates a signed article to the 18th anniversary of the publication of the famous work of leader Kim Jong Il "On Some Problems of Education in the Juche Idea." The work, brought out on July 15, Juche 75 (1986), gives a comprehensive elucidation of theoretical and practical questions arising in bringing about a turn in ideological education to suit the developing situation such as conducting all forms of ideological education in close harmony with the basic principles of the Juche idea, guiding the members of the Workers' Party of Korea and working people to have a full understanding of the subject of the revolution and firmly establish a revolutionary attitude regarding the leader and letting them have a clear understanding of the superiority of the socialist system.

U.S. Reduction and Redeployment of Its Forces Termed Arms Build-up

     Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) --The United States is focusing the much publicized reduction and redeployment of its forces overseas on the Korean peninsula and the rest of Northeast Asia. This is not truly aimed at disarmament, peace and detente. Rodong Sinmun Thursday says this in a signed article. Terming the U.S. imperialists' reduction and redeployment of its forces a move to bolster its forces, the article continues:
    The U.S. immediate aim is to relocate its forces in south Korea in the area south of the River Han and turn them into a regional force in charge of the Asia-Pacific region including Northeast Asia. This means that the U.S. seeks to expand the sphere of operation of its forces in south Korea, which has been confined to the Korean peninsula, to the vast area of the Asia-Pacific region and use them as a strategic and task force.
    The U.S. reduction and redeployment of its forces is targeted against the DPRK, China and Russia.
    The U.S. imperialists are working hard to stifle the DPRK and, furthermore, contain and bring under their control its neighbouring countries with south Korea as a military stronghold. This is one of the reasons why they are relocating their forces in south Korea in the area south of the River Han.
    It is intended to help the U.S. forces get out of the range of the People's Army's first retaliatory strike in case of "emergency," preserve them and mount an attack on the DPRK. The U.S. imperialists plan to launch a preemptive attack, wave-like strike and surgical operation-form attack by aircraft, missiles and other means. To this end the U.S. intends to use Japan as the most important military base while implementing its plan for the reduction and redeployment of its forces.
    After getting a hold on Mideast and Central Asia in the wake of the September 11 incident the U.S. felt the need to have military bases and armed forces to lay a military siege to China and Russia in those regions.
    The U.S. seeks to achieve this aim through the reduction and redeployment of its forces.
    The U.S. plan to pull some of its forces out of south Korea and deploy them in Iraq is part of this move.
    The U.S. reduction and redeployment of its forces in S. Korea is a new dangerous military measure to guarantee their "qualitative edge" in a bid to stifle the DPRK by force of arms, it concludes.

DPRK Ambassador to Laos Appointed

     Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- Kim Thae Jong was appointed as DPRK ambassador e. p. to the Lao People's Democratic Republic, according to a decree of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly.

     Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- The Korea Mangyong Sokam Trade Company has produced scores of kinds of "Wanggwan"-branded Koryo medicines and health foodstuffs. Vocero de MINREX aclara posicion sobre objeto de congelacion

     Pyongyang, 15 de julio (ATCC) -- A la pregunta de un reportero de la Agencia Telegrafica Central de Corea formulada en relacion con el hecho de que una parte de la sociedad internacional difunde opinion erronea sobre el objeto de congelacion y el metodo de verificacion despues de que la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea habia concretizado el proyecto de la "congelacion vs. indemnizacion" en la III ronda de las conversaciones a 6 bandas, el vocero del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de la RPDC respondio el dia 14 como sigue: Como es conocido por todos, despues de que en la III ronda de conversaciones a 6 bandas la RPDC habia presentado un flexible proyecto concerniente a la propuesta de "congelacion vs. indemnizacion" que sirve de una medida de accion de la primera etapa de la solucion a modalidad global basada en el principio de accion simultanea, todos los paises participantes, a excepcion de EE.UU., mostraron debida comprension y simpatia y expusieron la voluntad de participar en la indemnizacion por la congelacion. Y tambien amplios sectores de la sociedad internacional evaluan justamente la posicion constructiva de la RPDC para la solucion del problema nuclear.
    Pero, estamos alertos de que en estos dias, en medio de este movimiento internacional, ciertas fuerzas tergiversan la posicion de la RPDC tratando de inducir en error la opinion publica.
    Ahora, algunos opinan que las actividades nucleares pacificas de la RPDC son posibles solo despues del retorno de esta al Tratado de No Proliferacion y bajo la cooperacion normal con la Organizacion Internacional de Energia Atomica (OIEA) y la RPDC expreso entendimiento del particular. Y transmiten que la RPDC se opone a la "inspeccion" de la OIEA, pero esta de acuerdo con la "inspeccion multilateral" de los paises participantes en las conversaciones a 6 partes.
    Volvemos a patentizar nuestra posicion de que nuestra meta final es realizar la desnuclearizacion de la Peninsula Coreana.
    La RPDC renunciara a su plan de armas nucleares cuando se creen las condiciones propicias por el abandono de la politica hostil de EE.UU. con respecto a si misma.
    Para este fin es preciso eliminar la desconfianza y crear la confianza entre los dos paises mediante las medidas de "congelacion vs. indemnizacion".
    Cuando con la realizacion de la desnuclearizacion de la Peninsula Coreana se eliminen los factores fundamentales por los cuales la RPDC se vio obligada a retirarse del TNP, sera resuelto automaticamente el problema de su retorno de a este.
    Mientras tanto no podremos interrumpir las actividades nucleares pacificas, esto es nuestra firme posicion.
    Estas actividades que corresponden al derecho independiente de nuestro Estado no pueden ser incluidas en el objeto de congelacion o cancelacion.
    Hoy en dia, la realidad internacional evidencia que los paises fuera del TNP o pertenecientes a la zona desnuclearizada tambien realizan actividades nucleares pacificas.
    Por tanto, es sumamente natural que la RPDC fuera del TNP ejerza el derecho igualitario hasta antes de su retorno a este, y no hay motivo alguno de extranar las actividades nucleares pacificas de ella.
    Es clara tambien la posicion de la RPDC sobre problema de la verificacion.
    Como ya hemos declarado, la congelacion es la primera etapa para la cancelacion nuclear definitiva y a aquella sigue la verificacion objetiva.
    La verificacion de que hablamos aqui significa la vigilancia sobre el estado de congelacion.
    El problema de la inspeccion sobre las instalaciones y sustancias nucleares de la RPDC se puede discutir solo en la etapa de la cancelacion nuclear.
    Hablar de la inspeccion en la etapa de congelacion es muy ilogico y, aun peor, forzarla a la RPDC es un malsano intento de desarmar a esta.
    Realmente, aun despues de la III ronda de conversaciones a 6 bandas, los altos funcionarios de EE.UU. no ocultan el intento de lograr la "renuncia nuclear, primero" de la RPDC diciendo que es imposible la indemnizacion antes de que la RPDC haya realizado cabalmente la cancelacion nuclear tras el cese de las actividades nucleares y la consiguiente inspeccion internacional.
    Es muy absurda la demanda de que la RPDC sea la primera en desarmarse en el actual estado de armisticio y de guerra tecnica con EE.UU.
    Por eso, no podemos aceptarla jamas.

Centro de formacion de especialistas en administracion general de ribera

     Pyongyang, 15 de julio (ATCC) - Quedo inaugurado el Centro de Formacion de Especialistas en Administracion General de Ribera. El Centro dispone de equipos docentes para la gestion bajo la asistencia de la oficina de programa regional PEMSEA de la Organizacion Maritima Internacional.
    La ceremonia inaugural tuvo lugar el dia 14 en la Universidad Kim Il Sung.
    Los oradores subrayaron la necesidad de elevar en comun la responsabilidad de cada pais y cada region y la importancia de la cooperacion internacional en la proteccion del habitat y el desarrollo sostenido.
    Los miembros del Centro deben asimilar ricos conocimientos y experiencias en materia de administracion general sobre los litorales y aguas territoriales, recalcaron y expresaron esperanza de que el Centro haga un aporte a la detencion de la contaminacion del litoral y el mar, a la explotacion y utilizacion de valiosos recueros maritimos y a la proteccion del ambiente maritimo de Asia Oriental.
