Kim Il Sung's Exploits Praised in Various Countries

     Pyongyang, July 19 (KCNA) -- A lecture was given and a seminar was held at the Kwopa Industrial College in Baktapur, Nepal, on July 8 on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the demise of President Kim Il Sung. Kim Il Sung of Korea was the only leader who defeated two imperialisms in his life and liberated the country, founded the Party, army and state and built the greatest country in the world by successfully carrying out the socialist revolution, said Manik Lal Shrestha, chairman of the Nepal Institute for Juche Studies and the Nepal-Korea Friendship Association, in the lecture.
    The feats of Kim Il Sung, he noted, are great merits that other countries could not make even through generations. Kim Il Sung, was, indeed, a great statesman previously unknown in the Korean history of 5,000 years and human history, he added.
    Saying in a speech that one of the greatest exploits of Kim Il Sung was the brilliant solution of the question of inheriting the revolutionary cause, Narayan Man Bijukchhe, chairman of the Central Committee of the Nepal Worker-Peasant Party, expressed thanks to Kim Il Sung for bringing another great statesman to human history.
    Direndra Man Bijukchhe, chairman of the Baktapur, Nepal, Society for Korea Study, said in his speech one should study the idea and greatness of leader Kim Jong Il, if one wants to live a worthy life with a right mind in the surroundings of imperialist idea and culture and their political ruses and plots of all manner.
    A letter to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the seminar.
    And a lecture was given at the Communist Party of Peru "Red Motherland" and round-table talks at the Popular Liberation Movement of Angola and the Congolese Party of Labour on July 7.
    Kim Il Sung is the man who pioneered the Korean revolution with arms, Jorge Jaime, international secretary of the Central Committee of the Peruvian party, said at the lecture, highly praising the immortal feats of the President. He stressed that the President's idea of attaching importance to arms and his leadership have attained greater depth in Kim Jong Il's flawless political method called Songun politics and have been successfully embodied in the Korean realities.

Functions Held Abroad on 10th Death Anniversary of Kim Il Sung

     Pyongyang, July 19 (KCNA) -- Korean film shows and photo exhibitions were held in Russia, Cuba, Pakistan, India, Switzerland, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore from July 5 to 9 on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of President Kim Il Sung's demise. On display at the exhibitions were pictures showing the immortal revolutionary feats of Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il.
    At the film shows Korean films "Great Life in 1994", "Fatherly Leader Is with Anti-Japanese Revolutionary Fighters" and "Always in Hearts of Humankind" were screened.
    The participants highly praised the revolutionary feats of the President.
    The Juche idea founded by Kim Il Sung is the beacon of hope brightly lighting the road of achieving the independence of the global oppressed peoples, said the Press Secretary of the Pakistan People's Party, adding that the feats of the President are today glorified by Kim Jong Il in the succeeding generation.
    Noting that Kim Il Sung's life was the life of a peerless patriot and great leader who devoted his all to the freedom of the motherland and the happiness of the people, the chairman of the Juche Philosophy Study Committee of India, said his immortal exploits in the cause of human independence would remain always in the hearts of the world people.
    The chief of the Pyongyang Cultural Interchange Centre in Lausane, Switzerland, said he learned well through the film that Kim Il Sung had devoted his whole life to the victory not only of the Korean revolution but of the world revolution.

Meetings for Solidarity with Korean People Held Abroad

     Pyongyang, July 19 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held by the People's Rally for Socialism of Democratic Congo on July 12 to celebrate the 51st anniversary of the great victory in the Fatherland Liberation War. Jean Baptiste Nkoy, general secretary of the People's Rally for Socialism of Democratic Congo, in a speech said that the great victory won by the Korean people in the Korean war was of great significance not only for the progress of the DPRK but for the world people's struggle for national liberation against imperialists.
    Referring in detail to the immortal feats performed by President Kim Il Sung in leading the Korean war to the victory and the Songun leadership exploits Kim Jong Il has performed by strengthening the Korean People's Army into invincible revolutionary armed forces under the banner of Songun, he extended warmest congratulations to Kim Jong Il and servicemen of the KPA on the occasion of the day of victory (July 27).
    Meanwhile, a meeting for solidarity was held by the Indian Intellectuals' Society for the Study of the Juche Idea on July 2 on the occasion of the month of international solidarity with the Korean people.
    Chairman of the society V. K. Chopra in a speech accused the U.S. imperialists of working hard to invade the DPRK in a bid to obstruct Korea's reunification, demanding they immediately withdraw all its aggressor troops and war equipment from south Korea.
    Holding that the reunification of Korea should be independently achieved on the basis of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, he expressed belief that Korea would be certainly reunified under the wise guidance of Kim Jong Il.

Prison Term Demanded for Hanchongryon Chairman

     Pyongyang, July 19 (KCNA) -- The south Korean security authorities reportedly demanded five years in prison and five-year suspension of qualification for Jong Jae Uk, 11th-term chairman of the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon), on the charge of violation of the "Security Law" at a trial on July 15. The prosecution committed this outrage, taking issue with the demonstration denouncing the present "government" in Mangwol-dong, Kwangju, and the inaugural ceremony of Hanchongryon which were held while he was active as chairman.
    Jong Jae Uk in the court accused the authorities of suppressing Hanchongryon and exposed the injustice of the SL.

Favorably Developing DPRK-Russia Friendship

     Pyongyang, July 19 (KCNA) -- An article of Rodong Sinmun Monday observes the 4th anniversary of the DPRK-Russia Joint Declaration (July, 2000). The article says that the adoption of the declaration marked an important event as it laid a solid foundation to develop the friendly and cooperative relations between the DPRK and Russia in all fields, recalling the fact that the bilateral relations have steadily developed at a new stage over the last four years.
    It goes on:
    The validity of the DPRK-Russia friendship is more strikingly proved as the days go by through brisk multi-channel visits, contacts and exchange between high-level delegations of the two countries including the recent Russian foreign minister's visit to the DPRK.
    The Korean people appreciate the positive efforts made by the Russian people to achieve social stability and national unity and protect the security and interests of the country under the leadership of President V. V. Putin.
    It is the invariable stand of the Korean people to boost the traditional DPRK-Russia friendship as required by the new century. Stronger DPRK-Russia friendship is in line with the desire and interests of the two peoples and beneficial for the formation of a new just global structure, world peace and security and the development of the international relations.

     Pyongyang, July 19 (KCNA) -- Paek Nam Sun, foreign minister of the DPRK, sent a message of greetings to Michael Frendo upon his appointment as foreign minister of Malta. Expressing the belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would continue to favorably develop, the message sincerely wished him great success in his responsible work.

Koguryo Tombs with Mural Paintings, World Cultural Heritage

     Pyongyang, July 19 (KCNA) -- The tombs with murals belonging to the period of Koguryo (277 B.C. to 668 A.D.), the first feudal state of Korea, were registered at the 28th meeting of the World Heritage Committee of the UNESCO held at Suzhou, China as cultural heritage of the world. They include King Tongmyong's mausoleum and over 60 tombs with murals including those in Tokhung-ri and Yaksu-ri. They are precious cultural wealth of the Korean nation showing its time-honored history and wisdom.
    The tombs were built on hills and on flat areas. Murals were painted on ceilings and walls of loculus. A tomb consists of a loculus and a corridor leading to it.
    The floor of the tombs was tamped with river stones, sand, charcoal and lime. They have drainages.
    The walls of the loculus were laid with well-trimmed stones, each weighing several tons at maximum. The outside walls were filled with small stones and covered with mixed clay, line and charcoal. The inside walls were plastered with slaked lime. The walls of some tombs were made with well-trimmed big stones or several plain rocks.
    The loculus sizes are different, the biggest covering 40 square meters.
    The shapes of ceilings are vaulted, octangle and quadrilateral.
    Buried in the tombs were bodies and their favorites. Seen on the walls and ceilings are figure and genre paintings and four guardians.
    There are no cracks between flat stones and no change in the color of murals though a thousand and hundreds of years have passed. They clearly show the distinguished stone-processing and drawing skill of Koguryo people.
    The Koguryo tombs with murals serve as valuable historical materials reflecting the then society. They are of great significance in studying the development of oriental culture in the Middle Ages, too.

New Historical Relics Unearthed

     Pyongyang, July 19 (KCNA) -- A research group of the Institute of Archaeology of the Academy of Social Sciences recently unearthed new historical relics in Richon-ri, Sungho District of Pyongyang. It has conducted an extensive work to discover relics and remains dating back to the period before and after the establishment of Tangun Korea in the River Taedong basin centred on Pyongyang.
    The Richon-ri relics have been unearthed in this course.
    They were found in the alluvial plain formed between the River Taedong and its branch River Nam.
    The research group confirmed the distribution of the relics in a wide area covering 300,000 square meters. It has extensively surveyed and unearthed an area covering 50,000 square meters for the last several years.
    It finally succeeded in unearthing clayware-pot sites dating back to the Neolithic age, tile pot sites belonging to the period from late Koryo to the early days of Ri Dynasty, house sites dating back to the period from the Neolithic age to the era of Tangun Korea, dolmens, brick tombs and more than thousands of pieces of remains.
    The clayware-pot sites looked like dugouts. Found in the center of each round room shape dugout floor is a big hollow for making fire 1 meter in diameter and 0.8-0.9 meter in depth..
    Findings around the hollow included relics tantamount to ten pieces of calcified clayware.
    Archaeologists assume that the newly unearthed pot sites are much older than those clayware-pot sites dating back to the Neolithic age about 6,000 years ago in Honam-ri, Samsok District of Pyongyang, judged by the structure of sites and shape of clayware discovered there.
    Meanwhile, each of the tile-pot sites belonging to the period from late Koryo to the early days of Ri Dynasty found in a row has a main structure of a pot including fireplace, calcination room. Convex and concave tiles are kept in their original state in the calcination room.
    The new important discovery of clayware-pot sites dating back to the Neolithic age, the oldest in Korea up to date, and the tile-pot sites belonging to the middle ages in the Taedong River basin close to the central area of Pyongyang offers another clear proof of the historical position of Pyongyang as a cradle of human civilization and a cultural hub.
    Sites of big villages dating back to the period of Tangun Korea were also unearthed in Richon-ri.
    The relics unearthed there and the stratigraphic layers of sites of houses serve as an important yardstick whereby to scientifically prove the respective age of the sites of houses belonging to the period of top shape earthenware believed to be used in the Taedong River basin and provide another basis for systematizing the law-governed process of cultural development in the period of Tangun Korea.
    Various kinds of weapons such as stone dagger, spearhead and arrowhead and tools including stone axe, adze, plane, chisel, sinker of net and ancient spinning-wheel were found in sites of houses. They bear witness to the then very delicate and high skill of making stone tools.

Delegation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Leaves for Asian Countries

     Pyongyang, July 19 (KCNA) -- A delegation of the DPRK Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by Vice-Minister Kim Yong Il left here Monday to visit Asian countries. The delegation was seen off at Pyongyang Railway Station by officials concerned, the Vietnamese, Cambodian and Mongolian ambassadors and the Laotian charge d'affaires ad interim in Pyongyang.

Kim Yong Nam Meets Delegation of Koreans in Japan

     Pyongyang, July 19 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met and conversed in a compatriotic atmosphere with the delegation of Koreans in Japan led by So Man Sul, chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, staying in the socialist homeland at the Mansudae Assembly Hall Monday.      Pyongyang, 19 de julio (ATCC) -- Segun una informacion, el dia 15, las autoridades de seguridad del Sur de Corea abrieron una vista publica contra Jong Jae Uk, presidente del 11o periodo de la Federacion de Consejos Generales de Estudiantes Universitarios del Sur de Corea (FCGEUSC) y le condenaron a la pena de 5 anos de prision e igual periodo de suspension de calificacion por cargos de la violacion de la "ley de seguridad". La fiscalia infligio tales penas brutales en detrimento del activista juvenil cuestionando una manifestacion de protesta al actual "gobierno" en el barrio de Mangwol de la ciudad de Kwangju y la ceremonia de inicio del trabajo de la oncena direccion de la FCGEUSC, actos realizados durante su desempeno del presidente de esta organizacion estudiantil.

     Pyongyang, 19 de julio (ATCC) -- Un mitin en celebracion del 51 aniversario del triunfo en la Gran Guerra de Liberacion de la Patria (1950-1953) tuvo lugar el dia 12 en la sede de la Reunion Popular por el Socialismo del Congo Democratico. El secretario general de esta entidad, Jean Baptiste Nkoy, en su discurso, senalo que el gran triunfo del pueblo coreano en la Guerra de Liberacion de la Patria reviste suma importancia tanto para el desarrollo de Corea como para la lucha antiimperialista y de emancipacion nacional de los pueblos del mundo.
    Se refirio en detalle a las inmortales hazanas del Presidente Kim Il Sung quien condujo a la victoria la guerra y las proezas en la direccion del Songun (priorizacion militar) del Dirigente Kim Jong Il quien bajo la bandera del Songun fortalecio al Ejercito Popular de Corea en las invencibles fuerzas revolucionarias y expreso la mas calurosa felicitacion al Dirigente, los oficiales y soldados del EPC en ocasion del 27 de julio (aniversario del triunfo de la Guerra).
    Por otra parte, la Sociedad de Estudio de la Idea Juche de Intelectuales de India efectuo el dia 2 un mitin solidario dedicado al mes de solidaridad internacional con el pueblo coreano.
    El presidente de la citada sociedad, V. K. Chopra, en su discurso, condeno a los imperialistas yanquis que se aferran con frenesi a las maquinaciones de agresion a la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea con el fin de impedir la reunificacion de Corea y apunto que EE.UU. debe sacar de inmediato del Sur de Corea a todas sus tropas agresoras y equipos de guerra.
    Senalo que la reunificacion de Corea debe ser realizada de manera independiente a base de la Declaracion Conjunta Norte-Sur del 15 de Junio y subrayo que Corea, bajo la sabia direccion de Su Excelencia Kim Jong Il, sera reunificada sin falta.
