Educational Workers in North and South Meet
Mt. Kumgang Resort, July 19 (KCNA) -- A pro-reunification meeting of educational workers in the north and the south of Korea was held at Mt. Kumgang resort Monday to implement the June 15 joint declaration.
Amid the playing of the song "Glad to See You" the members of the delegations of the north and the south entered the meeting place hands in hands, chanting slogans for reunification such as "National Reunification" and "We Are One."
A large Korean peninsula flag was hoisted.
Speeches were made at a meeting of representatives of the north and the south.
Yun Jong Gon, chairman of the General Federation of Teachers Organizations of south Korea who is heading its delegation, referred to the immeasurable sufferings the fellow countrymen have undergone owing to the division of the country by foreign forces. He expressed the firm belief that the meeting would lay another cornerstone to bring earlier the day of reunification.
Kim Yong Do, chairman of the Central Committee of the Korean Educational and Cultural Workers Trade Union who is heading the delegation of the north side, stressed the need to lift voices demanding the total withdrawal of the U.S. forces from this land. He also underscored the need for the educational workers in the north and the south to closely cooperate, solidarize and unite with each other to lay a solid foundation for building a reunified prosperous powerful nation on the basis of national cooperation provided by the June 15 joint declaration.
Won Nyong Man, chairman of the south Korean Teachers Union who is heading its delegation, said educational workers in the south and the north have gathered with the ardent desire to bring earlier the day of the country's reunification by carrying forward and applying the spirit of the joint declaration. The educational workers also have a duty to fulfill to pave the way for the divided nation to become one, the way of achieving independent reunification, he added.
A congratulatory art performance was given by schoolchildren from the north side and sports and amusement games and joint art performance of educational workers in the north and the south took place at the meeting.
A joint resolution of the meeting for implementing the joint declaration was adopted.
The educational workers in the north and the south will make all efforts to actively implement the joint declaration with love for the fellow countrymen so that their disciples may stoutly live as the masters of the peace-loving reunified country free from foreign forces and war and to further strengthen solidarity and cooperation between them, the resolution noted.
That day the educational workers in the north and the south looked round the fine art and handicraft exhibition sponsored by the north side as part of the meeting.
Land Realignment in South Phyongan Province and Pyongyang Completed
Pyongyang, July 20 (KCNA) -- A work for turning the land in South Phyongan Province and Pyongyang into vast fields of standardized shapes has been successfully completed.
At least 94,400 hectares of land in this province and city has been realigned in a little over two years.
As a result, more than 648,700 small patches of paddies and fields have been rezoned into fields of standardized shapes, covering 800 or 1,000 phyong and 1,500 phyong each, and roads between fields extending more than 330km have appeared. Meanwhile, a total length of ridges between paddies reaching more than 40,000km has been reduced to at least 28,200km.Well-regulated water ways extending over 8,600 km now run along fields and at least 6,400 swamps have turned into a fertile land. The realignment projects have brought 1,530 hectares of new land under the plough.
More than 8,900 irrigation setups including bridges, water-sprinkling pipes and draining gates have been built to ensure safe farming regardless of any long spell of draught and any big flood.
The successes made in the land realignment in the province and the city are a brilliant result of the experienced and seasoned guidance provided by Kim Jong Il to the work to radically change the appearance of the land in socialist Korea built by President Kim Il Sung and bring prosperity to all generations to come.
DPRK-made Drinks to Be Sold in U.S.
Pyongyang, July 20 (KCNA) -- Pyongyang Liquor is soon to be sold in the U.S.
Pak Il U, 55, a Korean resident in the U.S who is manager of the Dong Woo U.S.A. INC., had an interview with KCNA at Koryo Hotel when he was visiting Pyongyang.
The publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration gave him a great delight, he said. A way has been paved for the Korean nation to reunify the country by itself.
I have thought that when all the Koreans in the north, south and overseas are united with a strong sense of patriotism and try to let the world know well about Korea, the door of national reunification will be opened, he said.
After much deliberation over the way for disabusing American society of its mistaken thought about the DPRK and giving the Korean-Americans a correct understanding of the fatherland, I made up my mind to sell Pyongyang Liquor in the United States, he said, and went on:
"I have spent much time and efforts for its realization. Pyongyang is the capital of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. When people drink Pyongyang Liquor, a traditional liquor of Korea, they will think of Korea and chat about the history and traditions of the nation. That's why I made such a decision."
Saying that his initiative was fully supported by the motherland, he added:
"I have already taken the business license and have it registered as the Korea Pyongyang Trading U.S.A INC. I feel pride and have already received congratulatory telephone messages from Koreans in different regions of the world".
Noting that its sale is optimistic as the selling network has already been arranged, he explained his plan to sell various kinds of DPRK-made drinks including blueberry wine in the United States, not limiting himself to the sale of Pyongyang Liquor.
He called upon all the Koreans abroad to make a tangible contribution to the reunification of the nation, those with money donating money, those with strength giving strength and those with knowledge dedicating knowledge, as said by President Kim Il Sung.
Greek President Wishes Korean People Peaceful Life
Pyongyang, July 20 (KCNA) -- Greek President Constantinos Stepanopolos, when receiving credentials from the DPRK ambassador on July 14, hoped that all the questions including the nuclear issue would be peacefully settled through dialogue at an early date, and the situation of the Korean peninsula be stabilized so that all the Korean people could live in peace.
The Greek government expresses understanding and sympathy for the sufferings of the Korean people from the division of the country, the president stated, and added he was glad that the inter-Korean relations were developing favorably and this signified a positive contribution to world peace and security.
Withdrawal of Decision on Troop Dispatch Demanded
Pyongyang, July 20 (KCNA) -- The People's Action against Troop Dispatch held a press conference in Seoul on July 15 demanding stop to the departure of the ship loaded with military supplies for the troops to be dispatched and withdrawal of the decision on troop dispatch.
Ri Su Ho, chairman of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, O Jong Ryol, permanent chairman of the National Alliance for Democracy and Reunification, and Kwon O Hon, chairman of the Society for Supporting Prisoners of Conscience under the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy, in their speeches warned that actions tailing behind the U.S. hegemonism would remain an indelible crime in history and declared they would take a decisive action so that not a single piece of material and not a single troop could be sent to Iraq.
Saying the south Korea-U.S. alliance is not alliance but collusion, they cried: "Let us be a spark in blocking troop dispatch" and "Let us check troop dispatch by pooling the strength of the people."
A letter of protest read out at the press conference condemned the present government for being anxious to send troops to the battle field for aggression started by the U.S.
To send troops to the Iraqi war for the imperialist hegemony of the U.S. and its neo-liberal economic interests is to make oneself a murderer and entail another sacrifice of the people, it said, and warned: Should the government refuse the will of the people to the last, we will answer with an all-out struggle of the whole people.
Group for Study of Songun Idea of Juche Formed in Chile
Pyongyang, July 20 (KCNA) -- The Chilean Group for the Study of the Songun Idea of Juche was inaugurated with due ceremony in Quilpue City on July 2.
The chairman of the group elected at the ceremony said it was of really great significance that the group for the study of the Songun idea of Juche has been inaugurated in Chile for the first time. The Juche idea has been further developed and enriched thanks to the Songun politics pursued by leader Kim Jong Il, he added.
Noting that the Songun idea indicates the way of defending and developing genuine socialism at a time when reactionary forces have become most furious in history, he declared: We will study and disseminate the Songun idea of Juche and steadily expand the group.
U.S. Preparations for War Denounced
Pyongyang, July 20 (KCNA) -- Senior officials of the U.S. administration and military played a double game, asserting that the United States would not weaken the war deterrent force in south Korea in the wake of its recent announcement that it would "reduce" some of its forces present in south Korea.
Papers Tuesday in commentaries lay bare the U.S. ulterior aim lurking behind this game.
Rodong Sinmun says:
The U.S. is now drastically increasing the combat capacity of the U.S. troops in south Korea by massively shipping ultra modern military equipment into south Korea under the pretext of filling up the vacuum caused by a partial "reduction" of its forces in south Korea. This is nothing but a dangerous move to wind up the preparations for the second Korean war according to its strategy of preemptive attack in order to inflict another disaster of war upon the Korean people.
The U.S. is working hard to stem the trend of the development of the inter-Korean relations characterized by the growing atmosphere of reconciliation and cooperation and foster the confrontation between the north and the south. Their ulterior aim is to keep south Korea under a permanent occupation and provoke a new war of aggression against the DPRK with it as a military springboard.
Dialogue and preparations for a war can not go together. Success of the six-party talks for the settlement of the nuclear issue on the Korean peninsula depends on whether the U.S. drops its hostile policy towards the DPRK or not. The "dialogue" on the lips of the U.S. is not aimed to solve the problem but to earn time to complete the war preparations. The war preparations stepped up by the Bush bellicose forces through the increase of their combat power behind the curtain of "dialogue" only compel the DPRK to bolster its physical deterrent force.
It is the principled stand and the mode of defending the sovereignty maintained by the people of the DPRK that it should be fully prepared for both dialogue and war.
Minju Joson notes that if the U.S. imperialists unleash a war against the DPRK at any cost the latter will fully demonstrate the might of the defence capability for self-defence its people have built up by tightening belt.
Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Work Observed
Pyongyang, July 20 (KCNA) -- A seminar of workers in the educational field was held at the People's Palace of Culture on Monday to mark the 20th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's famous work "On Further Developing Educational Work".
The work makes a scientific analysis of the importance of the educational work in revolution and construction and, on this basis, lays down tasks to put the educational work in the DPRK on a new higher stage and ways to implement them.
Speakers at the seminar said that the work is a great socialist educational programme as it gives comprehensive and perfect answer to all the theoretical and practical issues arising in the education and serves as a militant banner for effecting a great surge in the upbringing and education of the younger generation.
Recalling that Kim Jong Il has wisely led the work to bring about a revolutionary turn in the educational work as required by the Songun era, they said that the justice and vitality of the work have been proved in the efforts to implement the tasks laid down in it in the last period.
They pointed out that Kim Jong Il has firmly defended and glorified the revolutionary educational tradition and the rich and wide-ranging exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung, holding fast to the Juche-based educational idea as the unique guidelines for the development of the socialist education.
Kim Jong Il, though very busy with his Songun revolutionary leadership, gave field guidance to Kim Il Sung University, Kim Chaek University of Technology, Mubong Middle School in Samjiyon County, Hero Kanggye Jangjasan Middle School No. 1 and other units, thus bringing about a turn in the development of Juche-based education.
They called upon all the officials, teachers and researchers to uphold the famous work and devote their revolutionary zeal and wisdom to the education of the rising generation and thus repay the trust and expectation shown by the Workers' Party of Korea with loyalty.
Present at the seminar were Choe Thae Bok, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, and officials concerned.
Strong Counter-Measure Taken by China against U.S. Supported
Pyongyang, July 20 (KCNA) -- China is taking a strong counter-measure against the United States, dismissing its interference in the issue of Taiwan as unjustifiable.
Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says this in a signed article accusing the U.S. of assisting Taiwan, interference quite contradictory to its policy of "one China".
The article goes on: Some days ago Bush signed a bill of U.S. Congress supporting Taiwan's entry into the World Health Organization and the U.S. discussed the issue of Taiwan's plan to buy a large quantity of arms on the basis of the proposal put forward by him in 2001. Its proposal to post its "resident military attache" in Taiwan in the future is also pushed forward.
Taiwan is part of the inseparable territory of China. China has consistently stood for the national sovereignty and territorial integrity based on the principle of "peaceful reunification, one country and two systems" and worked hard to preserve them in various ways.
The U.S., however, is overtly and covertly rendering political and military aid to Taiwan, giving a shot in the arm of its "forces advocating independence", while voicing support to the "one China" policy. This is an open interference in the internal affairs of China, an indication that the U.S., regarding China as a major rival in establishing domination over Asia, seeks to contain that country and block its reunification by supporting Taiwan.
The U.S. double-dealing behavior is touching off strong concern and opposition of China as it runs counter to the three joint communiques adopted between China and the U.S. and reneges on the promise made by the U.S. to oppose "Taiwan's independence."
The Chinese People's Liberation Army is now staging joint military exercises of its three services in its southeastern waters to command air and sea by mobilizing its missile units and other types of modern weapons.
This proves China' strong counter-measure against the unjust U.S. interference in the issue of Taiwan.
It is the stand of China to make a "comprehensive plan for reform" aimed to boost the military capability to check the U.S. military interference in the issue of Taiwan and thoroughly implement it.
KCNA Blasts U.S. "Proliferation Security Initiative"
Pyongyang, July 20 (KCNA) -- A U.S. assistant secretary of State, raising a hue and cry over the non-existent DPRK's drug smuggling, let loose sophism that it sponsors the drug smuggling and its income is likely to be spent for the ballistic missile development.
This is nothing but a sinister attempt of the Bush administration to tarnish the image of the DPRK on the international arena and justify the "proliferation security initiative (PSI)" in a bid to isolate and stifle it.
The U.S. much publicized PSI is a product of its hostile policy toward the DPRK aimed to blockade and suffocate it in the light of the background against which it was set out and the aims sought by it.
After setting out PSI in April last year, the U.S. came out with a "proposal" on setting up "a proliferation security system for weapons of mass destruction (WMD)" at the G-8 summit in June. On September 4 the so-called eleven member nations of the PSI met to adopt the "principle of control over WMD."
These facts go to prove that the U.S. loudmouthed PSI is a foolish trick to justify the inspection, control and blockade against the independent sovereign countries including the DPRK.
What matters is that the Bush administration keeps floating all kinds of lies about the DPRK in a bid to justify PSI.
The U.S. hue and cry over "state-sponsored drug smuggling" and "the use of its income for the missile development" is nothing but a sinister ploy to charge the DPRK with "proliferating WMD" and internationalize the sanctions and blockade against it.
As already clarified more than once, drug abuse and smuggling are banned by law in the DPRK as it reduces man to a mental cripple.
The production, use and export of drug and mental stimulant for health care and scientific researches are under way in the country under a strict state control and they are subject to laws and order. And they are successful thanks to the exchange of information and cooperation between the DPRK and the International Narcotics Control Board.
The absurdity of the U.S. loudmouthed "state-sponsored drug smuggling" was clearly evidenced by the fact that an Australian court handling the case of the DPRK trading ship "Pongsu" this year ruled that the state was not involved in the case.
The DPRK has strictly based itself on its strong independent national industry in building such powerful war deterrent force as missiles.
Nevertheless, the U.S., the world's biggest criminal proliferating weapons, is linking the DPRK's development of missiles, its means for self-defence, with the "drug smuggling". This is an insult to the DPRK.
The U.S. topped the world's list of arms exporters by selling weapons worth some 13.3 billion U.S. dollars or 45. 5 percent of the world's total earning by sale of conventional weapons in 2002.
It is none other than the U.S. which has done illegal acts in arms export, posed a threat to other countries and gained huge profits from it. Yet it has kept mum about these criminal acts. It is ridiculous of the U.S to try to isolate and stifle the DPRK by charging it with "proliferating WMD," labelling it a "rogue state" and putting PSI into practice.
The U.S. should own its responsibility for being the world's biggest proliferator of WMD and give up its hostile policy toward the DPRK.

Group of International Marchers for Korean Peace and Reunification Arrives
Pyongyang, July 20 (KCNA) -- A group of participants in an international march for Korean peace and reunification led by Alejandro Cao de Benos, chairman of the Association for Friendship with the Korean People, arrived here today.
The group made up of members of the association having its branches in at least 60 countries will march from Pyongyang to Panmunjom.
It was greeted at the airport by Hong Son Ok, vice-chairperson of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries who is vice-chairperson of the Korean Committee for Solidarity with World People, and officials concerned.
The head of the group released an arrival statement at the airport.
Noting that peace on the Korean peninsula is seriously threatened by the U.S chiefly responsible for the division of Korea, the statement denounced its anachronistic hostile policy towards the DPRK.
The march will strikingly demonstrate the strong desire of progressive humankind for Korean peace and reunification, the statement said, expressing firm support and solidarity for the Korean people in their struggle for independent and peaceful reunification of the country.
The world progressive people would as ever voice positive support to the Korean people in their just cause for the peace and reunification of the country, he declared, shouting slogans "Long live reunified and prosperous DPRK!" and "Korea is one!".
Then followed a press conference.
Ponghwari Revolution Museum Opens
Pyongyang, July 20 (KCNA) -- The Ponghwari Revolution Museum in Kangdong County, Pyongyang, has been newly arranged and opened to visitors on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the birth of indomitable revolutionary fighter Kim Hyong Jik, an outstanding leader of the anti-Japanese national liberation movement in Korea and a great pioneer who made a switchover from the nationalist movement to the proletarian revolution.
The museum standing at the foot of time-honored Mt. Ponghwa has 11 rooms, an academic study room, a general lecture room, etc.
Displayed at the museum with a floor space of 2,000 square meters are materials and relics showing the immortal revolutionary feats performed by Kim Hyong Jik. Also on display there are historic materials on the revolutionary activities of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il who successfully advanced the Korean revolution by steadily carrying forward the idea of "Jiwon" (Aim High) generation after generation in the whole course of carrying out the revolutionary cause of Juche.
The museum has come to function as an important academic research centre, a strong centre for mass education as it is aimed to comprehensively preserve and study the materials on the revolutionary activities of Kim Hyong Jik who brought the dawn of the Korean revolution and make a more comprehensive and integral study and grasp of the long-standing tradition of the Korean revolution.
An opening ceremony took place Tuesday.
Wreaths and bunches of flowers were laid before the statue of Kim Hyong Jik in Ponghwa-ri.
Kim Yong Nam, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, in his opening address said that Kim Hyong Jik set out the idea of "Jiwon" in his early years, instilling faith in the cause of national liberation, the spirit of national independence and the indomitable fighting spirit into the Korean people including the participants in the anti-Japanese independence movement, and clarified the policy on carrying out the people's revolution, the proletarian revolution by the efforts of the nation under the banner of the advanced idea, thereby opening a new chapter of making a switchover in the anti-Japanese national liberation movement in Korea.
What is particularly shining among the precious feats performed by Kim Hyong Jik on behalf of the country and history is that he brought up young Kim Il Sung to be an ardent patriot, a great revolutionary and a distinguished leader of the revolution, thus giving a steady continuity to the lineage of the Korean revolution, Kim Yong Nam noted.
He called upon all the Party members, servicepersons and working people to translate the intention of Kim Hyong Jik in his lifetime into a more brilliant reality and thus accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche.
At the end of the opening ceremony the participants were briefed on the museum and went round it.
Present at the ceremony were senior party, state and army officials including Choe Thae Bok, Yang Hyong Sop, Kim Chol Man, Jong Ha Chol, Kim Ki Nam, Ro Tu Chol and Ri Ul Sol.

Aguas minerales y manantiales

Ademas, reportan eficacia medicinal.
