South Korean Trade Union Members Go on Sitdown

     Pyongyang, August 10 (KCNA) -- Over 600 trade union members of the Ryosu Factory of the LG Oils in Kwangju on August 5 went on a sitdown strike at Dankook University in Seoul, according to south Korean "KBS". They had been staging a sitdown at Chosun University in Kwangju against the unjustifiable act of the company side.
    They announced that they decided to continue their fight until the company side accepted their demand.
    It is said that the company decided to punish all the strikers if they refused to go back to the factory.

Prompt Withdrawal of U.S. Forces from S. Korea Urged

     Pyongyang, August 10 (KCNA) -- Alejandro Cao de Benos, chairman of the Association for Friendship with the Korean People and head of the group of participants in an international march for Korean peace and reunification that visited the DPRK, at a press interview expressed full support to and solidarity with the Korean people in their just cause of driving the U.S. forces out of south Korea and achieving national reunification. Noting that the Korean people have been suffering from national division for over half a century, he said the main reason of this lies in the U.S. forces' occupation of south Korea and the vicious hostile policy of the U.S toward the DPRK.
    He went on to say:
    Peace of the Korean peninsula at present is gravely menaced by the U.S., which is chiefly to blame for the division of Korea.
    The peninsula is one of the regions where the danger of war is the biggest in the world. The U.S. is deliberately aggravating the situation of the Korean peninsula, obsessed with an anachronistic daydream, turning its back on the world trend toward detente and peace.
    While increasing pressure on the DPRK over the "nuclear issue", the U.S. is reinforcing combat capabilities of its forces in south Korea and staging massive war exercises in an unbroken chain, thus leading the situation to the brink of war.
    The U.S., hating peace and reunification of Korea, is laying stumbling blocks in the way of reconciliation and cooperation of the Korean nation and throwing a wet blanket over the atmosphere of reunification.
    All the facts go to prove that the U.S. is the real criminal blocking peace and reunification of Korea.
    It should take its aggression forces and military hardware out of south Korea at an early date.

Eleven Million People Go to Mt. Paektu in 40 Years

     Samjiyon, August 9 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il climbed Mt. Paektu on August 10, Juche 52 (1963), and gave instructions that the Korean people should live and fight with the soul of Paektu. Since then many soldiers of the Korean People's Army, people from all walks of life, south Korean and overseas compatriots and foreigners, a total of more than 11 million, have gone up the mountain.
    Hundreds of thousands of people went to Mt. Paektu every year in the past 40 years. Among them KPA expeditionary groups and national youth vanguard expeditionary groups marching to the revolutionary sites in the area of the mountain made excursions there several times. Included among them were march groups from various social strata such as expeditionary groups of trade union, agricultural workers' union and women's union members, provincial expeditionary groups and student expeditionary groups. They held colorful functions including loyal oath-taking meetings and singing meetings.
    Many compatriots of different social standings at home and abroad climbed the mountain on the anniversary of the country's liberation in Juche 79 (1990) and held the starting ceremony of Paektu-Hanna grand march for the promotion of national reunification and such functions for reunification continued in the later period.
    Also among the members of the nation climbing Mt. Paektu through decades and centuries were delegations and home-visiting groups of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan and overseas Koreans from other regions of the world, a south Korean press delegation, a visiting group of Jeju Islanders, "the flower of reunification" and "the reunification bird of hope."
    A German woman writer and many other foreign friends enjoyed a bird's-eye view of Lake Chon of clean and blue water and the splendid panorama of the Mt. Paektu area, expressing their admiration.

Anti-U.S., Anti-Conservative Struggle for Defense of June 15@Declaration

     Pyongyang, August 10 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration on August 5 reportedly made public an appeal titled "Let all the people turn out in the anti-U.S. and anti-conservative struggle for defending the June 15 declaration." The south Korean people are faced with the task to defend the June 15 joint declaration and open a turning phase of independence, peace and reunification, the appeal said, calling upon them to come out as one in this struggle.
    The appeal called for intensifying the anti-conservative struggle for a democratic reform with the anti-U.S. and anti-war struggle for the withdrawal of the U.S. forces, the most urgent task, as the main line and thus smashing with a June 15 general offensive the moves of the U.S. and pro-American conservative forces to stamp out the June 15 declaration.
    It also called for expanding the present struggle against troop dispatch to Iraq into an anti-U.S. and anti-war struggle to open a prelude to a nation-wide struggle for the withdrawal of the U.S. forces and make 2005, 60th year after the U.S. military occupation, a year of a general account settlement for putting an end to the U.S. domination and military occupation.
    It stressed the need to boost the fervor of the struggle against the Grand National Party to dissolve it and make a clean sweep of the pro-American conservative forces in this land.
    The abolition of the "Security Law" is the most important task of the democratic reform, the appeal said, urging the total repeal of the SL, a fascist law of the Cold War era, to open up an era of true democracy.
    All the movement organizations should strengthen unity between the national democratic camp and the civic movement camp to bring together the strength of the people on one front, the anti-U.S. and anti-conservative front.

S. Korean Military's Scheme to Erect "Monument to War" Denounced

     Pyongyang, August 10 (KCNA) -- The Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland Monday issued information bulletin No. 879 concerning the scheme of the south Korean military to erect a "monument to war" lauding the landing operation of the U.S. imperialist aggression forces at Inchon during the Korean war. It says:
    Its plan to erect the monument on Wolmi Island, Inchon, is to justify and praise the U.S. imperialists' brigandish war of aggression over 50 years ago and it is another anti-national criminal act of inciting confrontation, swimming against the flow of the times and the anti-war sentiments.
    It is not only committing military provocations continuously in the West Sea but getting more frantic in arms beefing up and war exercises against the north after working out with the U.S. a new war scenario against the north "Operation Plan 5027-04", thus leading the north-south relations to a state of confrontation.
    It is intolerable that the south Korean military resorts to double-faced acts, promising to work for dispelling military confrontation and building confidence between the north and the south at the conference table and getting on the nerves of its dialogue partner and standing hostile to the latter as soon as it turns on its heels.
    The south Korean military should shake off the outdated idea of confrontation and no more do work disturbing national unity and reunification.
    It is treachery and treason to create military tension in cooperation with outside forces.
    Only shameful destruction is in store for those who trample upon the dignity and interests of the nation and go against the demand of the times.

War Scheme of U.S. and S. Korean Military under Fire

     Pyongyang, August 10 (KCNA) -- Spokesmen for the Korean National Peace Committee and the National Reconciliation Council issued statements Monday to denounce the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean military for going frenzy in their moves for a war against the DPRK after working out the adventurous anti-DPRK war scenario "Operation Plan 5027-04". The spokesman for the committee cited facts exposing that the U.S. has introduced ultra modern weapons and military hardware in and around south Korea according to the dangerous war scenario, thus pushing the situation on the Korean peninsula to the brink of a war.
    These facts show that the operation plan worked out by the U.S. and its followers to launch a war of aggression against the DPRK is being pushed ahead in real earnest and foretell that a nuclear war may break out on the peninsula any moment, he said.
    Stressing that the sacred anti-U.S. war is the way out for the Korean nation and there lie peace and national reunification, the spokesman said: All the Koreans should turn out as one man in a struggle to thwart and foil the nuclear war scheme of the U.S. and its followers and decisively forestall the storm of nuclear war raised by the U.S. with a fierce anti-U.S. and anti-war struggle.
    The spokesman for the council vehemently denounced the south Korean bellicose forces for their reckless moves to start a new war, dancing to the war tunes of the U.S. imperialists against the fellow countrymen in the north with outcries over "security vacuum," while going against the bright June 15 era and the desire of the Korean nation when the Koreans are vigorously advancing toward reconciliation, peace and reunification hand in hand.
    He goes on:
    The DPRK can not but express concern as to whether it can have frank negotiations over crucial issues related to the nation's destiny with such a partner who smiles a smile of reconciliation in front and whets a sword of confrontation behind the scene to strike at fellow countrymen in hand with outside forces.
    He urged the south Korean authorities to face up to the trend of the times and stop at once cooperation with the U.S. for a war and should stand by the nation and demand the withdrawal of the U.S. troops from south Korea.

U.S. Urged Not to Dream of Freeze without Reward

     Pyongyang, August 10 (KCNA) -- Whether the United States is ready to accept the DPRK's fair and aboveboard proposal for "reward for freeze" or not is the touchstone showing whether it truly has the intention to solve the nuclear issue on the Korean peninsula or not, says Minju Joson in a commentary Tuesday. Noting that the U.S. has misled public opinion to create the impression that the "landmark proposal" it laid before the 3rd round of six-party talks indicates a proper way of solving the nuclear issue, the news analyst goes on:
    After putting forward the beguiling "landmark proposal" carrying its unilateral demands without heed to the objective reality, the U.S. is pressurizing the DPRK to unconditionally implement it, mocking at the international community. In this regard the DPRK can not but anatomically delve into the unjustness of the U.S. proposal once again.
    Now the U.S. is talking about the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.
    The DPRK, of course, has no objection to it. The point is the way of reaching the goal of denuclearization.
    The key to the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula is for the U.S. to abandon its hostile policy towards the DPRK and take goodwill measures to convince the DPRK of this. For this, the U.S. should commit itself to the renunciation of its hostile policy towards the DPRK and, as its first-stage step toward compensation commensurate with it, lift the economic sanctions and blockade against the DPRK, remove it from the list of "sponsors of terrorism" and directly join in energy compensation scaled at 2 million kw in reward for the announcement of the denuclearization target by the DPRK.
    The U.S. is trying to put a sort of psychological pressure on the DPRK, mumbling that "there will be no reward for wrong doings", but this is a foolish dream. If the U.S. is not interested in the proposal for "reward for freeze," the two sides may go their own ways. The U.S. should not dream of freeze without reward. The ball is in the court of the U.S.

S. Korean Authorities Urged to Withdraw Decision on Troop Dispatch

     Pyongyang, August 10 (KCNA) -- The south Korean authorities additionally dispatched troops to Iraq on August 3 despite strong opposition and denunciation at home and abroad. In this regard Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says in a signed commentary: This is an anti-national and anti-popular act of diametrically challenging the demand of the whole nation and a servile and despicable treacherous act as it betrays the dignity, security and interests of the nation, yielding to the outside forces.
    It continues:
    The south Korean authorities talked a lot about "interests" to justify the troop dispatch. By "interests" they meant an "alliance" with the U.S. It is their contention that the lives and properties of the people and the dignity and interests of the Korean nation should be sacrificed to keep this "alliance" alive. Do the south Korean people really need such an "alliance" and how can this be in the interests of south Korea?
    Noting that the south Korean authorities are asking the U.S. to ensure "peace on the Korean peninsula" in return for their troop dispatch to Iraq, the commentary says:
    There is no need to explain that the U.S. moves to escalate the tension through the arms buildup and plays with fire to invade the north are not aimed to seek a peaceful negotiated solution to the nuclear issue.
    It is a foolish self-contradictory behaviour to offer troops to the foreign forces in their war of aggression, while crying out for averting a war to be launched by outside forces.
    The same can be said of other pending issues including the relocation of U.S. troops and transfer of the U.S. military base in south Korea. Endless is the greed of the U.S. whose true colors as a wolf remain unchanged. The south Korean authorities get nothing but slaps in their faces for offering everything to their master.
    The south Korean authorities should withdraw the dispatched troops and revoke the decision on troop dispatch, though belatedly, bearing deep in mind that they would be held accountable for their treacherous acts and the serious consequences to be entailed by them.

CRPP condena construccion de "monumento a guerra"

     Pyongyang, 10 de agosto (ATCC) -- El Secretariado del Comite por la Reunificacion Pacifica de la Patria (CRPP) hizo publica el dia 9 la informacion No. 879 condenando a la capa militar del Sur de Corea que en estos dias trata de construir un llamado "monumento a la guerra" para elogiar la operacion de desembarco a Inchon de las tropas norteamericanas perpetrada durante la pasada guerra coreana (1950-1953). La capa militar del Sur de Corea pretende levantar un "monumento a la guerra" en la isla Wolmi de la ciudad de Inchon. Esto es una maniobra para justificar y elogiar la guerra de agresion bandidesca desencadenada hace mas de 50 anos por los imperialistas yanquis y un acto criminal antinacional para inspirar la confrontacion a contrapelo de la corriente de la situacion y la tendencia antibelica, senala el documento y continua:
    Ella no cesa de perpetrar la provocacion militar contra la parte Norte de Corea en el Mar Oeste. Luego de elaborar junto con EE.UU. el "plan de operacion 5027-04", nuevo guion de guerra de agresion al Norte, da acicate al aumento armamentista y ejercicios belicos para agredir a la RPDC llevando asi las relaciones Norte-Sur al estado de enfrentamiento.
    En el dialogo con el Norte la capa militar surcoreana habla de la eliminacion del enfrentamiento militar entre ambas partes y la creacion de la confianza y al mismo tiempo, se ocupa hipocritamente de actos intolerables de irritar y hostilizar a su contraparte del dialogo.
    Ella debe liberarse del caduco concepto de confrontacion y dejar de hacer cosas que obstaculizan la reconciliacion y la reunificacion de la nacion.
    Crear la tension militar en cooperacion con las fuerzas foraneas es un acto traidor a la nacion.
    A quienes pisotean la dignidad y los intereses de la nacion y contravienen a la demanda de la epoca les tocara solo la vergonzosa derrota.

CNCDP y CNR denuncian a EE.UU. y circulo militar surcoreano

     Pyongyang, 10 de agosto (ATCC) -- En estos dias, los imperialistas norteamericanos y el circulo militar surcoreano renovaron el "plan de operacion 5027-04", aventurero guion de guerra de agresion al Norte de Corea, y se entregan con frenesi a las maniobras belicas contra este. En relacion con esto, los voceros del Comite Nacional Coreano por la Defensa de la Paz (CNCDP) y del Consejo Nacional por la Reconciliacion (CNR) publicaron el dia 9 sendas declaraciones de denuncia.
    El portavoz de la primera entidad revelo citando hechos que en virtud de dicho guion aventurero, EE.UU. introduce y emplaza los armamentos sofisticados y los pertrechos militares en el Sur de Corea y su periferia y lleva la situacion de la Peninsula Coreana al borde de la guerra, y continuo: Tales hechos auguran que EE.UU. y las fuerzas entreguistas impulsan en la etapa practica la treta belica "5027-04" y en cualquier momento puede estallar una guerra nuclear en la Peninsula Coreana.
    La sagrada batalla antiyanqui es la salvacion de la nacion coreana y la via hacia la paz y la reunificacion de la patria. Toda la nacion coreana debe levantarse como un solo hombre en la lucha por frustrar la maniobras de guerra nuclear de EE.UU. y sus fuerzas satelites y librar una impetuosa lucha antiyanqui y antibelica para defenderse decididamente de la locura de estos por una contienda belica nuclear.
    Por otra parte, el vocero del CNR condeno categoricamente a los belicistas surcoreanos como lo siguiente:
    A contrapelo de la aspiracion de la nacion coreana y la luminosa epoca del 15 de Junio, en que esta marcha vigorosamente hacia la reconciliacion, la paz y la reunificacion con las propias fuerzas unidas, los belicistas surcoreanos actuan demencialmente para provocar una nueva guerra adhiriendose a las maniobras belicas de EE.UU. contra los connacionales so pretexto del "vacio de seguridad".
    No podemos menos que sospechar con preocupacion de la posibilidad de debatir francamente importantes problemas concernientes al destino de la nacion con tales hipocritas que de cara a cara esbozan una risa a desganas y ya de espaldas afila el cuchillo de confrontacion para atacar junto con fuerzas foraneas a sus connacionales.
    Las autoridades surcoreanas, al distinguir correctamente la corriente de la epoca actual, deben abstenerse ahora mismo de la cooperacion con EE.UU. a favor de la guerra y demandar la retirada de las tropas norteamericanas ocupantes del Sur de Corea poniendose, aunque desde ahora, al lado de la nacion.
