Guinean President Supports Cause of Korean People

Pyongyang, August 31 (KCNA) - - Just as the Korean people actively support the Guinean people with all sincerity so we unconditionally support the cause of the Korean people. Especially we fully support the peaceful reunification of the Korean peninsula. Guinean President Lansana Conte said this on August 25 when he received Kim Pong Hui, Korean ambassador to his country.
    The president further said:
The DPRK has invariably and positively stood behind the cause of the Guinean people since Guinea won independence. This is why Guinea highly values its friendly and cooperative relations with the DPRK.
The friendship between the two countries was provided and has been consolidated by President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il and successive leaders of Guinea, he said.

Results of S. Korea-U.S. Consultative Meeting Condemned

Pyongyang, August 31 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification reportedly made public a statement on August 27, denouncing the results of the 11th Consultative Meeting for the Future of the South Korea-U.S. Alliance Policy Initiative. The statement recalled that at the meeting held on August 19 and 20 the issue of the redeployment and "cutback" of the U.S. forces present in south Korea was discussed and an agreement on the transfer of a U.S. military base from Ryongsan and an amendment to the plan for joint land management were initialed.
The meeting clearly showed the arrogance of the United States and the humiliating diplomacy of the south Korean "government" authorities, the statement said, adding: The youth and students are getting angry at this.
The "government" authorities must know clearly of the possible consequences of their pro-American flunkeyist and humiliating acts on the peace and independent reunification of this land, it urged.

CPRF Spokesman Assails U.S. Arms Buildup in S. Korea

Pyongyang, August 31 (KCNA) -- The U.S. is contemplating deploying a squadron of Alaska-based F-15E fighter-bombers of the U.S. Air Force into south Korea in September for an exercise aimed to familiarize themselves with terrain conditions in case of contingency on the Korean peninsula. A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland (CPRF) in a statement issued on Monday in this regard said:
This goes to prove that the U.S. moves to mount a full-scale preemptive attack on the DPRK have reached an extremely reckless phase.
The U.S. has so far pretended to be deeply interested in improving the hostile relations between the DPRK and the U.S. and seeking a negotiated solution to the nuclear issue, asserting that it has never pursued the hostile policy towards the DPRK and that it is the U.S. stand to find a negotiated diplomatic settlement of the nuclear issue.
However, the Bush administration has desperately escalated the massive arms buildup and war exercises targeted against the DPRK under the signboard of "dialogue" and "peace." This once again clearly indicates that its loudmouthed "talks" and "dialogue" are nothing but a deceptive farce to cover its aggressive and predatory nature and Washington remains unchanged in its ambition to stifle the DPRK by force.
It is as clear as daylight that if a war is ignited by the U.S. forces on the Korean peninsula all Koreans in the north and the south will suffer a horrible nuclear disaster.
If the U.S. is allowed to escalate its reckless arms buildup and war exercises, they will bring irrevocable calamities to all Koreans.
The U.S. should unconditionally stop such reckless arms buildup as introducing F-15E fighter-bombers into south Korea and withdraw its aggressor forces and military equipment from south Korea without delay.
Meanwhile, the south Korean authorities should ponder over the consequences to be entailed by their treacherous act of bringing aggressor forces into south Korea from outside.

DPRK Compelled to Take Every Possible Measure for Self-Defence

Pyongyang, August 31 (KCNA) -- The U.S. bellicose forces are now repeating their hackneyed fiction of "threat from the north" in a bid to cover up their ambition to invade the DPRK. They have gone the lengths of impudently asserting that even the reduction of U.S. troops in south Korea as part of "redeployment of U.S. forces" would not result in weakening "the deterrent against north Korea" and any misjudgment would prove a serious blunder. Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary carried in this regard observes:
The aim sought by the U.S. imperialists in the redeployment of their forces is to put their strategy of preemptive attack into practice. The ulterior motive of the U.S. is to disarm the DPRK behind the smokescreen of "reduction and redeployment" of its forces.
The U.S. asserts that it has no intention to invade the DPRK, while paying lip-service to a "peaceful and diplomatic solution of the nuclear issue on the Korean peninsula." But there is no change in its policy to stifle the DPRK by force of arms. It has sent an aircraft carrier flotilla to the waters around the Korean peninsula and keeps shipping sophisticated war hardware into south Korea.
A clear proof of this is the facts that Bush openly said the U.S. was demanding north Korea lay down its arms and John Bolton, U.S. under-secretary of State, uttered that north Korea could expect improved relations with the U.S. only when it settles not only the issue of nuclear weapons but issues of biological and chemical weapons, ballistic missile, human rights, etc.
What the U.S. seeks is not a peaceful solution to the nuclear issue but a preemptive attack against the DPRK. The U.S. imperialists' frantic arms build-up discloses the true aim sought by them in refusing to commit themselves to drop their hostile policy toward the DPRK while clamoring for a "peaceful solution to the nuclear issue".
Now that the U.S. pursues only confrontation and war instead of dialogue an d peace, the DPRK is left with no option but to take every necessary measure for self-defence. The commentary urges the United States to immediately stop such reckless arms build-up.

Japan Accused of Reviving Militarism

Pyongyang, August 31 (KCNA) -- Members of the Society of Bereaved Families of the Pacific War Dead in south Korea held a meeting in front of the Japanese embassy in Seoul on Aug. 29 denouncing Japan for distorting history and reviving militarism, according to the south Korean MBC. Its participants lodged a strong protest with the Tokyo metropolitan educational authorities against having decided on Aug. 26 to let students use a distorted history textbook from April next year against the backdrop of Japan's evermore undisguised moves to tamper with history as evidenced by its acts to embellish its war of aggression and cover up its past crimes related to the sexual slavery.
They also chided Japan for such moves for the revival of militarism as the visit of a group of Japanese ministers to the "Yasukuni Shrine" on August 15 and the beefing up of the Japanese "Self-defence Forces".
During the meeting they had a ceremony of burning a Japanese flag, etc. and threw eggs into the Japanese embassy building.

U.S. Hostile Stand toward DPRK Assailed

Pyongyang, August 31 (KCNA) -- U.S. President Bush recently mumbled that the United States was demanding the DPRK lay down arms and Under-secretary of State John Bolton let loose a string of rubbish, croaking that north Korea could expect improved relations with the U.S. only when it solved the issues of bio-chemical weapons and ballistic missiles and, furthermore the human rights problem, beside the nuclear issue. Commenting on this, a Minju Joson news analyst today says:
This indicates that the U.S. new conservative forces do not take the trouble to conceal their wild design to overthrow the system of the DPRK through the "change of the system" and "disarmament" and are going to put it forward openly.
The DPRK cannot but take a serious note of the fact that they are promoting the criminal plot to pull down the DPRK in a dangerous stage with extreme hostile feelings toward it. It is closely watching the developments with high vigilance.
The DPRK very highly values the sovereignty and security of the country and the nation. It has never thought about improved DPRK-U.S. relations with its sovereignty encroached upon.
The DPRK can never have good relations with the U.S. as long as the latter refuses to drop its hostile policy toward it. Availing ourselves of this opportunity, we have something to be made clear to the U.S. which is putting on airs over the matter of DPRK-U.S. improved relations.
Improved relations between countries are not a gift presented by one side to the other. The U.S. describes its improved relations with the DPRK as a sort of benefit to the latter. But this is a manifestation of its arrogance and impudent behavior.
The U.S. should make a bold decision to renounce its anachronistic view and stand full of self-righteousness and arrogance.

Korean and Japanese Women Meet

Pyongyang, August 31 (KCNA) -- A solidarity meeting of Korean and Japanese women for Korea's reunification and the normalization of the DPRK-Japan relations was held in Pyongyang on Monday. Hong Son Ok, vice-chairwoman of the Korean Society for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries who is chairwoman of the Korean Women's Association, in her speech said the Korean people were greatly enraged by the fact that the Japanese right-wing conservatives have inaugurated new monitoring bodies of various types, enacted and supplemented new regulations and adopted the "law on sanctions" against the DPRK and evil laws against the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) one after another in order to impose economic sanctions on the DPRK and crack down upon Chongryon.
Japan's behavior of supporting the United States which has left no means untried to stifle the DPRK is touching off bitter indignation and resentment among the Korean people, she noted , and continued:
The DPRK-Japan relations have entered a new phase since the DPRK-Japan summit talks held in May. The women of the two countries should pool efforts to usher in a new era of reconciliation and friendship between the DPRK and Japan.
Sumiko Shimizu, head of the Japanese women's "Peace Line" visiting group who is representative of the Japanese Women's Society for Solidarity with the Korean Women, in her speech said that the Korean people are dynamically advancing to defend the sovereignty of the country and achieve peaceful reunification by their concerted efforts while striving to implement the June 15 joint declaration. The Japanese women will positively support and encourage the Korean people in their just struggle to achieve the country's reunification, she stressed.
She noted that the Bush regime has escalated the tensions in the Korean peninsula and Northeast Asia, forcing the DPRK to scrap its nuclear program and revealing its attempt to mount a nuclear preemptive attack on it after designating the DPRK as part of an "axis of evil."
Speeches were made at the meeting.
A resolution adopted there said that the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration is a step forward in realizing the hope for peace in Northeast Asia. It clarified a 5-point resolve carrying the will to achieve peace and stability in Northeast Asia through solidarity between the DPRK and Japan.
The resolve calls for lifting the voices demanding an earlier normalization of the DPRK-Japan relations, properly educating the younger generation in history and struggling against all sorts of national discrimination. It also deals with issues arising in positively supporting and encouraging the just cause of the Korean people and conducting a dynamic campaign to attain the common purpose.
