Floral Baskets Laid at Monument to Victory in Fatherland Liberation War

     Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- Floral baskets were placed at the Monument to Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War on Thursday, the 56th anniversary of the DPRK. Attending the ceremony were Kim Il Chol, Yang Hyong Sop and other cadres and servicepersons of the Korean People's Army and working people in the city.
    Amid the playing of floral basket-laying music, a floral basket was laid there in the joint name of the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea.
    Also placed were floral baskets in the name of the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces, public organizations, ministries, national institutions, KPA units, educational, public health and press organs and Party and power bodies, factories and schools, etc. in Pyongyang.

U.S. "North Korean Human Rights Act" Rejected

     Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- Korean residents in the United States inaugurated a joint measure committee against "the North Korean Human Rights Act" on September 1, according to Minjok Thongsin, a U.S. Internet homepage. The committee is made up of personages from political, academic, press, art, labour and religious circles and reunification movement organizations.
    In this regard, a press conference was held in Los Angeles on the same day.
    Speakers at the conference said that the act would escalate the tensions in the Korean peninsula and Northeast Asia as it contains poisonous provisions calling for the collapse of the system in the north.
    If this act passes through U.S. Congress when exchanges are going on between the south and the north of Korea, it will bedevil the inter-Korean relations and mar the achievements already made in the movement for the reunification of the Korean peninsula, they warned, adding that this should not be allowed to happen.
    The joint measure committee will conduct information activities to help the compatriots clearly understand the harm of the act, they declared.
    A statement of the committee and a letter to the U.S. Senate urging the withdrawal of the act were read out at the conference.

First People's Rally for Abolition of SL Held in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- The first people's rally for the abrogation of the "Security Law" was reportedly held in front of the south Korean National Assembly building in Youido, Seoul, on September 5. It drew over 1,500 persons including members of the "national foot march group for the repeal of the Security Law" which had arrived in Seoul that day after a 46-day march, and civic and public organizations.
    Speakers at the rally noted that the members of the group waged a vigorous struggle to get the evil law scrapped, walking across south Korea from July 22 and the march would never be stopped in the future.
    They held that the SL must be torn up, being a leftover of the Cold War.
    The resolution published at the rally expressed indignation and the feeling of having been betrayed by some politicians insisting on the revision of the SL and urged them to join in the movement for the total abolition of the evil law.
    Saying the passionate efforts would create nationwide strength for the repeal of the law, the resolution stressed that it would put an end to the 56-year-long torturous history of the law.

Banquet Given on DPRK Birthday

     Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- The DPRK government arranged a banquet at the People's Palace of Culture Thursday evening in celebration of the 56th anniversary of the DPRK. Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, said at the banquet that President Kim Il Sung founded the DPRK on the basis of the tradition of building people's power established in the crucible of the anti-Japanese revolution under the banner of the Juche idea, thus enabling the Korean people to become the master of the state and society for the first time in the national history spanning 5,000 years and their country to begin a new history of building a powerful, dignified, independent and sovereign state.
    Today the DPRK is making steady progress at a new high stage of its development glorifying the new era of the Juche revolution, the Songun era, under the experienced and tested leadership of Kim Jong Il, he said, and went on:
    As long as there is the wise Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il, the Korean People's Army and the people will achieve eternal prosperity of the country along the road of Juche despite any challenge of history and the DPRK will shine as a glorious state of Kim Il Sung for all ages.
    The situation on the Korean peninsula has reached a very dangerous line owing to the U.S. extremely hostile policy towards the DPRK and its moves to isolate and stifle the latter.
    The U.S. is continuously shipping modern military equipment into the Korean peninsula and its vicinity behind the curtain of the six-party talks in a desperate bid to put into practice its scenario for a war of aggression against the DPRK according to the "strategy of preemptive attack"
    A preemptive attack is not a monopoly of the U.S.
    We will increase our war deterrent force in every way to foil the reckless strategy of preemptive attack of the U.S. imperialists and will not tolerate any act of infringing upon our sovereignty and national dignity but immediately take legitimate measures for self-defence.
    The U.S. should properly understand the revolutionary will of our army and people, ponder over it and behave itself.

     Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- An evening gala of youth and students in Pyongyang took place at Kim Il Sung Square Thursday to celebrate the 56th anniversary of the DPRK. Senior officials of the party, the state and the army and chairpersons of friendly parties took the platform.

Papers Call for Boosting DPRK-China Friendship

     Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- Papers here today carry editorials in connection with the forthcoming visit to the DPRK of the Chinese party and government delegation led by Li Changchun, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, at the invitation of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government. Rodong Sinmun says:
    The DPRK visit of the Chinese party and government delegation is a demonstration of the daily developing DPRK-China friendship.
    The DPRK and China are the neighbors with a river in between and the two peoples have long deepened the friendly relations.
    The two peoples have shared life and death, sweets and bitters in the struggle for national freedom and independence and liberation of their countries.
    The traditional DPRK-China friendship is unbreakable as it was provided and brought into bloom by the leaders of the two countries. Leader Kim Jong Il paid a visit to China in April during which he met the new collective leadership including Hu Jintao and deepened the friendship. Russian Army Academic Ensemble Gives Its Premiere

     Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- The Russian Army Academic Song and Dance Ensemble Named after Alexandrov on a visit to the DPRK gave its premiere at the Pyongyang Grand Theatre on Sept. 9. The Russian artistes staged peculiar numbers, while joining the Korean people in significantly celebrating the birthday of the DPRK.
    As the chorus of immortal revolutionary paeans "Song of General Kim Il Sung" and "Song of General Kim Jong Il" resounded through the theatre, the audience were replete with profound reverence for President Kim Il Sung who made an undying contribution to the founding and strengthening of the Republic and leader Kim Jong Il who has demonstrated the might of Juche Korea to the world with his unique Songun politics. The performers presented Korean songs including the male solo and chorus "My blessed life", the female solo and chorus "Hero was eighteen years old" and the male group singing and chorus "Korea is one", to the delight of the audience.

End to U.S. Occupation of S. Korea Urged

     Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Friday carries a commentary supporting the joint appeal to the south Korean people published by different organizations in the northern half of Korea upon the lapse of 59 years since the U.S. imperialist aggression forces occupied south Korea. Condemning the history of their occupation of south Korea as a history of disasters that has brought a hundred and one misfortunes and sufferings to the Koreans and a history of crimes that has blocked the unified development of the Korean nation and threatened the peace and security of the country, the appeal called upon the south Koreans to turn out daringly in the nationwide anti-U.S. righteous struggle to make the year 2005, the 60th year of the U.S. forces' occupation of south Korea, the year of their withdrawal from south Korea.
    The author of the commentary describes it as an entirely just appeal which fully confirms with the June 15 era of reunification in which the 70 million Koreans are rejecting outside forces and glorifying the dignity and sovereignty of the nation with their concerted efforts and reflects the resolute will of the entire nation not to allow any longer the U.S. imperialists' occupation of south Korea, the leftover of history and injustice
    Noting that it is the vital task of the Korean nation to write finis to their occupation of south Korea, the commentary goes on:
    Holding high the slogan "Let us not allow the U.S. forces to occupy south Korea more than 60 years!" that was put forward in the joint appeal, all the Koreans should intensify the nationwide struggle to drive the U.S. imperialist aggression forces out of south Korea, united close under the banner of the June 15 joint declaration.
    The United States has no excuse or justification to keep its forces in south Korea at a time when the June 15 era of reunification has come and reconciliation and unity, cooperation and exchange are being promoted between the north and the south. The U.S. would be well advised to make a bold decision to pull its forces out of south Korea without delay, mindful that its wild design to dominate Korea is a ridiculous dream that stands no chance of realization and it will touch off a nationwide anti-U.S. resistance of the Korean people.

Pro-U.S. Reckless Remarks Assailed

     Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- Mun Jong In, chairman of the Committee of the Era for Northeast Asia in south Korea, recently claimed that "call for strengthening national cooperation rather than cooperation with the U.S. was prompted by a wrong understanding" and that there would be no national cooperation without cooperation with the U.S. This is a revelation of deep-rooted pro-U.S. flunkeyism as these outbursts can be let loose only by those traitors who find their way out in following and currying favor with outsiders, bereft of any national awareness, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary.
    It goes on:
    The committee chaired by Mun is an institution under the direct control of the president. This proves that his remarks reflect not merely his own opinion but the views of the authorities on national cooperation. If that is true there would be nothing to expect from the south side for the improvement of the inter-Korean relations nor any reason to follow its attitude towards it.
    The reality proves that the south Korean authorities have not yet gotten rid of their anti-national and anachronistic stand of seeking cooperation with outsiders.
    The cooperation with the U.S. to stifle the DPRK is a traitorous cooperation to launch a war. The era of reunification after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration undergoes pain due to the south Korean authorities who deny the idea and political system in the DPRK, their dialogue partner, and seek cooperation with the U.S. in line with traitorous logic as asserted by Mun. This is the very reason why the inter-Korean relations are at a stalemate.
    The south Korean authorities should bear deep in mind that the national cooperation can never go together with cooperation with outsiders and that it would be impossible for them to become an independent dialogue partner as they prefer cooperation with outsiders rather than that with their fellow countrymen.

Chinese Party and Government Delegation Here

     Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- The Chinese party and government delegation led by Li Changchun, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, arrived here today to pay an official goodwill visit to the DPRK at the invitation of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government. Taekwon-Do, Korea's Orthodox Martial Arts

     Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- Taekwon-Do, the Korean nation's orthodix martial arts, has been encouraged in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. It has been disseminated in schools and industrial establishments across the country. The national Taekwon-Do championship for Jongilbong Cup is held as an annual event.
    Taekwon-Do, a precious cultural wealth and pride of the nation, reflects the strong stamina and spirit of the nation.
    It has been developed from Subakhoe and Thaekgyon, classical martial arts of the nation which had been popular among people from the period of the three kingdoms (Koguryo, Paekje and Silla).
    Tae means foot, kown fist and Do spiritual cultivation.
    The name of Taekwon-Do was known to the world in Juche 44 (1955).
    It consists of the main movements, and pattern, sparring, self-defence and demonstration events. And its movements total more than 3,200 and its patterns 24.
    Each pattern is named after famous patriotic figures in different historical eras such as Tangun, the ancestral father of the nation, Ulji Mun Dok, Yongae So Mun, Ri Sun Sin, Saint So San, An Chang Ho and An Jung Gun.
    Sparring match consists of fixed sparring match and freestyle sparring match.
    Self-defence pattern is aimed to put the opponents on the defensive by striking the opponent in his weak parts.
    The demonstration sport is to break wooden boards, bricks, tiles and other things with fist, hand and foot.

Pyongyang Ready for Film Festival

     Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- Pyongyang has made full preparations for the 9th Pyongyang Film Festival. The festival organizing committee has completed the translation of scripts, titles and explanations of films, etc.
    Pasted on walls of buildings in the capital are the festival emblems against the nocturnal sky over Pyongyang, posters of various themes including that of the Pyongyang International Cinema House standing in the middle of the Taedong River against the background of Kimilsungia, Kimjongilia and other flowers. Different kinds of decorations have been set up in streets and festival places.

Kim Jong Il Congratulates Syrian President

     Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, Friday sent a congratulatory message to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Syria's Baath Arab Socialist Party, on his 39th birthday.     En el banquete participaron los cuadros directivos del partido, el Estado y el ejercito, los presidentes de los partidos amigos, el grupo de felicitacion de coreanos residentes en Japon por el 56 aniversario de la fundacion de la RPDC y otros coreanos en ultramar, asi como el representante de la sucursal del Frente Democratico Nacional del Sur de Corea en Pyongyang.
    Fueron invitados los representantes diplomaticos de varios paises en Corea y otros huespedes extranjeros.

Velada de jovenes y estudiantes pyongyaneses

     Pyongyang, 10 de septiembre (ATCC) -- La velada de jovenes y estudiantes de esta capital en homenaje al 56 aniversario de la fundacion de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea tuvo lugar el dia 9 en la Plaza Kim Il Sung. En la tribuna presidencial aparecieron los cuadros directivos del partido, el Estado y el ejercito, los presidentes de partidos amigos y el jefe del grupo de felicitacion de coreanos residentes en Japon.
    Estuvieron invitados los coreanos en ultramar de visita en la patria socialista, el representante de la sucursal del Frente Democratico Nacional del Sur de Corea en Pyongyang, los representantes diplomaticos y otros miembros de embajadas de varios paises en Corea y huespedes extranjeros.
    Los participantes en la velada bailaron con el sentimiento de infinito respeto, veneracion y elogio al Presidente Kim Il Sung, fundador y constructor de la RPDC quien creo una nueva historia de construccion del Estado socialista centrado en las masas populares.
    La velada demostro fehacientemente la conviccion revolucionaria y voluntad de los jovenes y estudiantes de nueva generacion dispuestos a defender firmemente y fortalecer mas la patria socialista, herencia dejada por el Presidente Kim Il Sung, en pleno acato a la direccion del Dirigente Kim Jong Il sobre la revolucion mediante el Songun (priorizacion militar).

Disparate del traidor proyanqui

     Pyongyang, 10 de septiembre (ATCC) -- Hace algunos dias, el presidente del llamado "Comite de la Epoca del Nordeste Asiatico", Mun Jong In, dijo que anteponer el "fortalecimiento de la cooperacion nacional a la con EE.UU." parte de una "erronea concepcion" y no "habra la primera sin lograr la segunda". Este disparate solo se puede escuchar en boca de los traidores que no tienen ni un apice de la conciencia pro-compatriota y buscan su salvacion en seguir la batuta de las fuerzas extranjeras y adular y someterse a estas y es una expresion de la arraigada conciencia de servilismo a EE.UU.
    Asi senala el diario Rodong Sinmun en un comentario individual del dia 10 y continua:
    El llamado "Comite de la Epoca del Nordeste Asiatico" donde Mun Jong In ocupa la presidencia es un organo directamente subordinado al "presidente".
    Si lo tomamos en cuenta, podemos sacar la conclusion de que su palabra no es un simple criterio individual sino la representacion de la opinion de las autoridades surcoreanas y la exposicion de la posicion de estas acerca de la cooperacion nacional. Si eso es de verdad, no habra nada que esperar de la perspectiva de la mejora de relaciones Norte-Sur y la posicion surcoreana con respeto a esta.
    Como la realidad demuestra, las autoridades surcoreanas no se han liberado todavia de la anacronica y antinacional posicion de la "cooperacion" con las fuerzas foraneas en lugar de la cooperacion nacional.
    La "cooperacion" con EE.UU. que se propone aplastar a la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea esta encaminada a la traicion a la patria y la guerra. Por culpa de las autoridades surcoreanas que dan negativa a la idea y sistema de su contraparte del dialogo (la RPDC) y "cooperan" con la superpotencia, que busca atacar a esta, segun la logica traidora explicita en el disparate de Mun, la epoca de la reunificacion del 15 de Junio atraviesa por un periodo de grandes dolores. He aqui la causa principal del estancamiento del desarrollo de las relaciones Norte-Sur.
    Las autoridades surcoreanas deben tener en clara cuenta que la cooperacion nacional nunca sera compatible con la "cooperacion" con las fuerzas extranjeras y si ellas dan prioridad a la segunda, no podran ser jamas la contraparte independiente del dialogo con la RPDC.
