Agreement on Cooperation in Hydrology Signed between DPRK and China

     Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- An agreement on cooperation in the hydrological work of the Rivers. Amrok and Tuman between the Hydro-Meteorological Service of the DPRK and the Ministry of Water Resources of China was signed in Pyongyang today. The agreement was inked by Ko Il Hun, director of the Hydro-Meteorological Service of the DPRK and E Jingping, vice-minister of Water Resources of China who is heading a delegation of the Chinese Ministry of Water Resources.
    Minutes of talks on cooperation in the hydrological work between the delegations of both countries was signed.

Kim Jong Il's Famous Work Published in Pamphlet in Laos

     Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il's immortal famous work "On Having a Correct Viewpoint and Understanding of the Juche Philosophy" was brought out in pamphlet Monday by the Lao State Publishing House. The work, issued on October 25, Juche 79 (1990), expounds the originality and superiority of the Juche philosophy in comparison with the preceding philosophy, the essential character of ma n as the social being and the matter of having a correct understanding of the three transformations-the transformation of nature, of man and of society.

S. Korean Leading Trade Unionists Fined

     Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- The Supreme Court of south Korea fined former leaders of the "KAL Pilots Union" on the charge of masterminding a strike for the improvement of working conditions, according to south Korean KBS. The court decision charged them with the interference in the execution of duties, ruling that the demands made by the union could not be an object of collective negotiation, being as act of encroaching upon the right of management of the employers.

U.S. Forces' Withdrawal from S. Korea Urged

     Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- The struggle for the withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea is a just and patriotic struggle to ensure peace of the country and accomplish the cause of national reunification by the efforts of the nation itself, says Rodong Sinmun Thursday in a signed article. Had it not been for the U.S. armed occupation of south Korea, the Korean nation would have built a reunified power in this land long ago and made a progress, the article says, and goes on:
    For the U.S. imperialists' occupation of south Korea, the Korean nation already suffered the scourge of a war and is exposed to the threat of another war today. The U.S. imperialists' occupation of south Korea and their moves to invade the DPRK have jeopardized the peace of the country and the security of the nation and thrown ordeals and barriers in the way of the cause of Korea's reunification.
    The U.S. imperialist aggression forces should be driven out of south Korea as they are harassing peace on the Korean peninsula and putting a major stumbling block in the way of its reunification. Only then can the security of the peninsula be ensured and a peaceful atmosphere be created for its reunification.
    It is the exercise of its legal right by the Korean nation to demand the withdrawal of the U.S. aggression forces from south Korea. No one can take issue with this right.
    Keeping its forces in south Korea, the U.S. has violated the sovereignty of the Korean nation and it is still maintaining its forces in south Korea in disregard of the stipulation of the Korean Armistice Agreement calling for their withdrawal from south Korea and the resolution of the UN General Assembly.
    The U.S is still riding high and mighty in disregard of international law to gratify its own aggressive interests, paying no heed to the interests of the Korean nation. Its occupation policy in south Korea can be scuttled only through a coordinated struggle of the Korean nation.
    When the 70 million Koreans turn out they can certainly emerge the victor in the confrontation with the U.S. and greet a new era in national history in which they would become independent, reunified and prosperous, free from outside forces.
    Everyone who has the blood and soul of the Korean nation should fully discharge his or her responsibility and role in the patriotic struggle to make 2005 the year of the withdrawal of the U.S. force from south Korea.

Planned Distribution of U.S.-Made Anti-DPRK Computer Games under Fire

     Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- The south Korean company of computer games "Wizard Soft" is going to introduce anti-north computer games such as "Ghost Recon 2" and "Splinter Shell 3" from the U.S. company of computer games "UB Soft." Rodong Sinmun Thursday in a signed commentary brands this as a hostile provocation against the north.
    It says:
    The "Ghost Recon 2" and "Splinter Shell 3" are based on the absurd assumption that the U.S. strikes nuclear facilities in the DPRK and dispatches special units to perpetuate terrorism in anticipation of the contingency on the Korean peninsula.
    The south Korean company is going to use such controversial things as means of making money, obsessed with accumulating fortune, at a time when the prevailing situation reminds one of the eve of war due to the nuclear stand-off between the north and the U.S. Such thing can be done only by those who are bereft of national conscience.
    The U.S. produced a lot of computer games on the themes of the Afghan and Iraqi wars before igniting those wars. When recalling that those computer games simulated actual wars, one cannot overlook such attempt to introduce north-targeted computer games into south Korea.
    The south Korean "Wizard Soft" should cancel at once its anti-national plan to distribute games inciting enmity towards the north in south Korea without any consideration, blind with money-making.
    It is an anti-national, anti-reunification criminal act to introduce those controversial things aimed to provoke the north and incite anti-north feelings and conscience of confrontation in south Korea or overlook this practice.
    The war game of the U.S. imperialist warmongers can go over to a real war any moment. If the south Korean authorities permit the introduction of north-targeted computer games reflecting the U.S. sinister aim to invade the north, this will only prove their intention to incite confrontation with their fellow countrymen, start a war of aggression against the north in collusion with outside forces.

U.S. Ambition to Dominate Asia under Fire

     Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- The United States, attaching importance to Northeast Asia, especially Japan in implementing its preemptive attack strategy, has deployed huge aggressor troops there in a bid to use them in realizing its ambition to dominate Asia, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. It goes on:
    The U.S. considered Okinawa as major base for U.S. troops in the past.
    Today it is going to convert the Japanese islands into strategic vantage points for implementing its strategy of preemptive attack. The U.S. stepped-up forward deployment of its troops with Japan as the most important base in Asia-Pacific is aimed to bring the DPRK under its control and contain big powers and thus establish its sphere of domination in the region.
    It is the invariable ambition of the U.S. imperialists to invade the DPRK, a military and strategic vantage point, and put it under their control. It plans to use Japan as an advance base in hurling into the Korean peninsula task force from its mainland and other areas in case of its emergency. It is the U.S. plan to mobilize its naval and air forces and let its marines land on the peninsula in a coordinated operation with them and thus stage a land mobile warfare with its army involved. The U.S. intends to command the operations in an area close to the Korean peninsula, not in its mainland. In other words, it seeks to set up the U.S. air force command that has merged with the U.S. first army corps command in Japan and command the operation there. Herein lies the ulterior aim of the U.S. to use Japan as the most important vantage point of the U.S. forces in the Asia-Pacific region. The U.S. selection of Japan as the most important vantage point in implementing its Korean and Asian military strategy is designed to put into practice the long-range attack strategy calling for effectively wiping out enemies while suffering the least casualties.
    The U.S. does so in the belief that Japan is its junior ally meekly obeying it as evidenced by Tokyo's active participation and cooperation in its war against terrorism. The Japanese people should clearly see through the dangerous nature of U.S. troops and their bases present in their country and vigorously struggle for their withdrawal.

White Pine-nut Trees Grow in DPRK

     Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- White pine-nut trees are growing thickly to form a forest in Raengjong-gol village, Rinsan County of North Hwanghae Province, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The forest has been formed from a white pine-nut tree, a new species of pine-nut tree found in a valley of the county ten years ago.
    The white pine-nut tree, considered to be a special variation in the plant kingdom, is drawing a great attention of the academic circles.
    The pine-nut tree is called Pinus koraiensis or Pinus-pent aphylla in the world. The white pine-nut tree grows only in Korea.
    It bears nuts covered by white rinds.
    The rind is thinner than that of other species. The nutmeat is 1.25 times and yield 1.5 times those of the latter.
    Researchers of the Institute of Forests of Economic Value under the Academy of Forestry and officials of the experiment station of oil-bearing trees have succeeded in spreading the tree by a method of budding saplings cultivated with white pine-nut seeds.
    It has been known that pine-nut trees bear fruits 15 years after plantation. But the new species can yield after 6 to 7 years.
    Rinsan County has picked up pine-nuts from some years ago.
    Measures have been taken to propagate the tree quickly across the country.

Rodong Sinmun on Ideological Source of Revolutionary Soldier Spirit

     Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- The revolutionary soldier spirit is a lofty revolutionary spirit representing the great Songun era and a powerful ideological weapon for working miracles and performing exploits in the revolution and construction. Rodong Sinmun Thursday says this in a signed article. It goes on: The revolutionary outlook on the leader is the ideological source of the revolutionary soldier spirit. The Korean People's Army (KPA), regarding the loyalty to its supreme commander as its lifeline, has demonstrated its invincible might in the fierce anti-imperialist struggle and on the forefront of the revolution and construction for over 70 years.
    It is stronger in ideology and faith as it has more transparent revolutionary outlook on the leader than any other ranks.
    The KPA could, therefore, create the revolutionary soldier spirit in those hard days of the "Arduous March" and is now fully demonstrating its honor as the standard-bearer of the Songun revolution, a core unit and a main force.
    The staunch fighting spirit of the revolutionary forerunners is the ideological and mental basis of the revolutionary soldier spirit.
    Anti-Japanese revolutionary forerunners fought, considering President Kim Il Sung who taught them the revolutionary truth and led to the road of struggle as their spiritual mainstay and cherishing the firm faith that it is their honor to live or die on this road.
    The revolutionary spirit of Mt. Paektu served as an ideological and mental source that inspired the People's Army to fully display its might during the last Fatherland Liberation War and the death-defying confrontation with the U.S. imperialists.

     Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, sent a message of greetings to Henrique Pereira Rosa, president of Guinea-Bissau, on September 16 on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau.      Pyongyang, 23 de septiembre (ATCC) -- La empresa surcoreana de medios electronicos para recreacion "Wizard Soft" se propone introducir en el Sur de Corea efectos de recreacion electronica contra la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea como "Ghost Recon 2" y "Splinter Sell 3" de la compania estadounidense de "UB Soft". La adquisicion y difusion de tales objetos electronicos constituyen evidentemente una provocacion hostil contra la RPDC, senala asi el diario Rodong Sinmun en un comentario individual del dia 23 y prosigue:
    "Ghost Recon 2" y "Splinter Sell 3" preven la evolucion de la situacion de la Peninsula Coreana por una absurda suposicion y contienen el ataque de Estados Unidos sobre las instalaciones nucleares de la RPDC y el acto terrorista a traves del destacamento especial enviado por este imperio.
    Se crea la extrema tension que puede haber en visperas de una guerra entre EE.UU. y la RPDC en torno al diferendo nuclear. Precisamente en este tiempo, cegados por dinero los tipejos carentes de la conciencia nacional lo toman por medio de enriquecimiento.
    En visperas de la guerra afgana y la iraqui Estados Unidos produjo gran cantidad de efectos electronicos que tenian por tematica a estos dos paises. En fin games de computadora se convirtio en "games belico". Por eso, no se puede pasar por alto tal movimiento contra la RPDC.
    Debe ser puesto de inmediato fin al acto antinacional de "Wizard Soft" que cegado por afan de ganancia de dinero se propone divulgar en el Sur de Corea tales objetos de hostilidad a la RPDC.
    Introducir en la nacion coreana tales efectos que irritan a la RPDC e inculcan la conciencia de hostilidad y confrontacion con esta o tolerarlo deviene acto criminal contra la nacion y la reunificacion.
    La recreacion electronica belica de los belicistas norteamericanos se puede convertir a toda hora en la guerra real. Las autoridades surcoreanas, al tratar de introducir tales efectos, pondran al desnudo su verdadera intencion de perseguir la confrontacion y guerra de agresion al Norte de Corea en confabulacion con las fuerzas extranjeras.
