Anachronistic Folly of Grand National Party Assailed

     Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the National Democratic　Front of south Korea (NDFSK) issued a statement on September 25 denouncing　the Grand National Party for its vicious moves to drive the National　Assembly into shambles, according to Kuguk Joson Internet site. The statement said:
    The regular session of the National Assembly that opened on September 1 is　causing serious disappointment and resentment of the people as it is wasting　time in never-ceasing political disputes, failing to discuss a proper law　for reform.
    We can hardly repress bitter anger at the fact that the GNP, which suffered　a miserable defeat in the general election, is trying to turn the NA into a　theater of rowdyism by throwing a snag in the way of every legislative　overture badly needed for political reform and the development of　inter-Korean relations.
    The NDFSK sternly denounces such vicious moves of the GNP to drive the NA　to a catastrophic phase as an unpardonable criminal act intended to revive　the past rotten NA, plant-like NA stained with pro-U.S. flunkeyism, fascist　dictatorship, corruption and anti-north confrontation. The 17th-term NA　should be one for a progressive reform to entomb what is old, a　reunification-oriented NA contributing to the development of inter-Korean　relations.
    The forces for progressive reform in the NA should frustrate the　treacherous maneuvers of the conservative forces to meet the aspiration and　demand of the people and daringly conduct supra-partisan legislative　activities helpful to the new policy and the development of inter-Korean　relations.
    Those bent on turning the NA into a scene of fight for the interests and　stratagem of a party are a handful of diehard pro-U.S. conservatives and　their anachronistic folly can not evade a stern judgment by history.　
    The NDFSK, jointly with the people of all strata desirous of progressive　policy and independent reunification, will invigorate the struggle to　resolutely smash the last-ditch moves of the pro-U.S. conservative forces　swimming against the will of the people and the trend of the times and bring　earlier a new policy for independence and democracy, a new land of　reunification desired by the whole Korean nation, free from outside forces　and traitors.

Sojourn of Delegation of Russian Supreme Court in Pyongyang

     Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- The talks between the delegations of the　DPRK Central Court and the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation were held　at the Mansudae Assembly Hall on Tuesday. Both sides exchanged views on cooperation between the courts and a series　of issues of mutual concern at the talks.
    Present at the talks from the DPRK side were members of the delegation of　the Central Court led by its Chief Justice Kim Pyong Ryul and from the　Russian side members of the delegation of the Supreme Court headed by its　President Byacheslav Mikhailovich Rebezev and Ambassador Andrei　Gennadiyevich Karlov and staff members of the Russian embassy here.
    That day the delegation of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation laid　a wreath before the Liberation Tower.
    The delegation arrived in Pyongyang on Tuesday.

S. Korean Military's Move to Dispatch Special Warfare Troops to　Iraq under Fire

     Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Committee for the　Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland issued a statement on Sept. 28 to　denounce the south Korean military for openly talking about the dispatch of　special warfare troops to Iraq aimed to let them accumulate experience in　civil operation. The south Korean military does not hide the fact that its troops dispatched　to East Timor, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc. are getting ready to conduct civil　operations in the north in case of emergency under the special warfare　command, the statement said, and continued:
    It is the first time that the military disclosed that the dispatch of its　troops to Iraq is aimed to accumulate experience in civil operation, hinting　at their future operations in the north.
    This clearly proves that its dispatch of special warfare troops to Iraq is　prompted by its sinister and provocative design against the DPRK, not to　protect its units already dispatched there.
    The committee vehemently denounces in the name of all Koreans desirous of　peace and reunification of the country the south Korean military's moves　against the north as an outright challenge to the June 15 North-South Joint　Declaration under which the north and the south committed themselves to　achieve reconciliation, unity and reunification through national cooperation　in the idea of "By our nation itself" and as an intolerable and dangerous　provocation.
    It is a pipedream for the south Korean military to conduct civil operation　on the Korean peninsula.
    The south Korean authorities had better ponder over the grave consequences　to be entailed by their anti-national civil operations, immediately stop the　criminal additional troop dispatch to Iraq and withdraw troops already sent　to Iraq at the earliest possible date to prevent the recurrence of such　terrible disaster as the case of Kim Son Il. The north will force them to　pay a high price for their criminal moves to escalate the confrontation with　it.

U.S. Plan for Preemptive Attack on DPRK under Fire

     Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- The United States is making desperate　efforts to bring down the dignified socialist system in the DPRK by use of　double-dealing tactics of dialogue and military option. But this is a　pipe-dream. Minju Joson Wednesday says this in a signed commentary. It goes on:
    The U.S. is paying lip-service to dialogue and peaceful settlement. It is,　in actuality, dealing with the nuclear issue with main emphasis laid on the　military solution to the issue.
    Rice, assistant to the U.S. president for national security, recently　blustered that the U.S. has the right to use military force against north　Korea over its nuclear issue.
    Her outpouring has a thread of connection with the remark made by a　spokesman for the Department of State that all options including the use of　force are on the table when answering a reporter's question as to whether　the U.S. rules out the use of force against north Korea.
    This suffices to clearly prove that the preemptive military attack on the　DPRK is an official stand of the U.S.
    It is the true intention of the U.S. to use the nuclear issue as a pretext　and justification to mount a preemptive military attack on the DPRK.
    The DPRK will never abandon its principle, yielding to the U.S. going　reckless, bereft of reason.

Japan Hit for Provocative Act against Pyongyang Declaration

     Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- It has recently been disclosed that the General Staff of the Ground Force of the Japan Defense Agency is working out "a plan for combating terrorism" including a drastic arms buildup of the Ground "Self-Defense Force" under the pretext of coping with "large-scale terrorism" of the DPRK. Commenting on this, a Rodong Sinmun analyst Wednesday says:
    The Japanese reactionaries are drawing up the "plan for combating terrorism" and seeking a drastic arms buildup by pulling up the DPRK over its fictitious "terrorism". This shows they are going to extremes in their moves to stage a comeback to Korea and impede the implementation of the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration.
    They have so far resorted to hectic moves to turn Japan into a military power and launch into overseas expansion on the plea of the non-existent "missile threat" and "nuclear threat" of the DPRK by zealously banking on the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK.
    In trying to attach the tag of "terrorism" to the DPRK, the Japan Defense Agency is pursuing a very sinister and dangerous aim to justify its scheme to stage a comeback to Korea and attain ground for turning Japan into a military power and go over to overseas expansion by joining the United States in branding the DPRK as a "criminal of terrorism". The talk of the Japanese reactionaries about the DPRK's "large-scale terrorism against Japan" is a total fiction and a malicious insult and challenge to the DPRK.
    Despicable and shameless are the Japanese reactionaries who have invented the fiction of "terrorist threat" of the DPRK which has nothing to do with terrorism and, under this pretext, seek to attain their dishonest aim.
    The outcries of the Japan Defense Agency over "large-scale terrorism" and its working out of the "plan for combating terrorism" are a grave provocation contradictory to the basic spirit of the Pyongyang declaration.
    The Japanese reactionaries should discontinue the foolish acts of obstructing the implementation of the Pyongyang declaration and bedeviling the DPRK-Japan relations, ignoring the demand of the public sentiments at home and abroad.

Strengthened Party Leadership System Called for

     Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- It is necessary to steadily deepen the　work for establishing a leadership system of the Workers' Party of Korea. This provides a sure guarantee for accomplishing the revolutionary cause of　Juche started by President Kim Il Sung by achieving a final victory in the　anti-imperialist and anti-U.S. confrontation and bringing about　uninterrupted leaping advances in the building of a great prosperous　powerful nation holding aloft the banner of Songun under the Party　leadership. Rodong Sinmun Wednesday says this in a signed article.
    The Party is a political organization to realize the idea and leadership of　the headquarters of the revolution and its idea and intentions are　materialized by the Party, the article notes, and goes on:
    Establishing the leadership system of the Party means building a leadership　system of the headquarters of the revolution.
    In establishing this system nothing is more important than thoroughly　ensuring the security and authority of the headquarters of the revolution　and upholding its idea and leadership exploits. It is necessary to establish　a steel-strong discipline and order whereby to deal with all matters from　the viewpoint and stand of devotedly defending the headquarters of the　revolution and act as one true to the idea and intention of the headquarters　throughout the Party, the army and society. This provides a sure guarantee　for defending the Korean revolution and socialism and achieving a final　victory in the confrontation with the U.S. imperialists.
    In the present era of Songun, the People's Army is a core force and model　in upholding the idea and leadership of the Party.
    The DPRK can decisively smash enemies' reckless war moves and vicious plots　to destabilize its society and win one victory after another in the　anti-U.S. confrontation only when there are a revolutionary discipline and　order in the whole Party and society whereby everyone loyally upholds the　idea and leadership of the Party as required by the era of Songun just as　the People's Army does.
    All the Party organs and officials should thoroughly establish the　leadership system of the WPK, as required by the era of Songun, to achieve a　decisive victory in the present anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. confrontation　and translate the plan of leader Kim Jong Il to build a great prosperous　powerful nation into reality as early as possible, the article　concludes.

Koreans Called Upon to Build Structure of Their Confrontation with　U.S.

     Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- It is an urgent requirement of the reality to build the structure of the Korean nation's confrontation with the U.S. in practice, says Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in a signed article. The United States is stepping up the preparations for preempt a military attack on the DPRK after making it an established fact under the pretext of the nuclear issue, the article says, calling on the Korean nation to build the structure of its confrontation with the U.S. in practice in order to preserve peace on this land and reunify the country now that the U.S. imperialist's military provocation moves are getting ever more pronounced as the days go by.
    The article goes on:
    To this end, it is necessary for the north and the south to get united and cooperate with each other to foil the U.S. attempt to launch a new war of aggression. They should fulfill their responsibility and role in the struggle to protect the destiny of the nation as they are responsible for the peace, security and reunification of the Korean peninsula and wage a coordinated struggle against the U.S. and war.
    It is also necessary to take a fixed stand and will to trust the nation and depend on its strength in this struggle. The U.S. does not wish the peace and reunification of Korea. So it does not care whether the Korean nation remains divided for an indefinite period or whether the peninsula suffers a nuclear calamity, only seeking to meet its own interests as an aggressor. It is a daydream to harbor any illusion about the U.S. or calculate that the nation can avoid the danger of war and ensure economic stability when it depends on the U.S.
    The Koreans in the north and the south and abroad should struggle with transparent spirit of national independence that they have to avoid the daily increasing danger of war by their concerted efforts.

Kim Yong Nam Meets Cuban Ambassador

     Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met and conversed with Cuban Ambassador to the DPRK Esteban Lobaina Romero who paid a farewell call on him at the Mansudae Assembly Hall today. On hand were Kung Sok Ung, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and staff members of the Cuban embassy.

Gift to Kim Jong Il from Shanghai Juvenile Art Troupe

     Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il received a gift from the Shanghai juvenile art troupe of China on a visit to the DPRK. The gift was conveyed to an official concerned by Zou Wei, deputy general secretary of the Chinese Welfare Society who is heading the delegation.

Physical Strength Check-up in DPRK

     Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- The physical strength check-up is now in swing in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. It has been conducted as an annual event in the country since Juche 37 (1948).
    The government has set August and September as physical strength examination months. The nationwide campaign is aimed to make the whole society replete with an atmosphere of making physical culture and sports mass-based and encourage the people to improve their physical fitness and prepare themselves well for labour and national defence.
    A mutual examination method has been introduced this year to boost the enthusiasm of the people.
    Kim Il Sung University, the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital, institutions, industrial establishments and schools in Phyongchon District, Pyongyang, have carried on practice of all events in a planned way so that most of their members have passed the eleven-event check-up according to ages and sexes.
    The physical strength examination has been dynamically conducted in all provinces, cities and counties.
    The examination reflects the Korean people's optimistic spirit of making their life more beautiful with strong physical strength.

Books on Martial Arts Published in DPRK

     Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- Books "Stories on Celebrities of Korean Martial Arts" (Vols. 1 and 2) and "Self-defence Art of Taekwon-Do" (Vol. 1) were published in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The book "Stories on Celebrities of Korean Martial Arts" introduces 74 persons from the period of the three kingdoms (Koguryo, Paekje and Silla) to the period of the Ri Dynasty. They include famous patriotic generals who performed distinguished services in battles for defending the country and prominent masters of martial arts in different ages. It also gives a common knowledge on history and short stories on the Korean martial arts.
    Given in it are episodes about Korean women who disguised themselves as men and distinguished themselves on battlefields with their wonderful martial arts.
    The stories are based on the old Samguksa, Samguksagi (the history of the three kingdoms), the history of Koryo, Samgukyusa (the historic records of the three kingdoms) and the true records of the Ri Dynasty and other historic records and libraries of figures.
    The book "Self-defence Art of Taekwon-Do" deals with technical skills to be applied in case of being attacked, caught and pressed on vitals and any part of body by others and in other unexpected circumstances, and the first aid methods in case of hurt.
    It also introduces self-defence art for women when attacked by men.
    The book gives photo-illustrated self-defence movements so that anyone can learn how to perform them by himself without other's help.
    The books were authored and published by the Korean Taekwon-Do Committee and the Publishing House of Physical Culture and Sports.

DPRK Order　Awarded to Cuban Ambassador

     Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- A ceremony for awarding DPRK order to the Cuban ambassador e. p. to the DPRK was held at the Mansudae Assembly Hall Wednesday. After a decree of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly was read out, President Kim Yong Nam awarded DPRK Friendship Order First Class to Cuban Ambassador e.p. to the DPRK Esteban Lobaina Romero for his positive activities to develop the friendly relations between the DPRK and Cuba and support the Korean people's efforts for building a great prosperous powerful nation with his boundless reverence for President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il.

Jong Ha Chol Meets CPC Friendly Visiting Group of Specialists and　Scientists

     Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- Jong Ha Chol, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Wednesday met and had a friendly talk with the friendly visiting group of experts and scholars of the Communist Party of China led by Leng Yong, executive deputy director of the Document Research Office of the CPC Central Committee. DPRK Degree of Honorary DM Awarded to German

     Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- The DPRK degree of honorary doctor of medicine was awarded to Karsten Vilmar, chairman of the German-DPRK Medical Association, with due ceremony at the People's Palace of Culture on Wednesday. A certificate and medal of the DPRK degree of honorary doctor of medicine were awarded to the chairman in recognition of the contribution he has made to the development of clinical science and technology of Korea by forming the association and conducting brisk exchange and cooperation in the field of health care.
    Present at the awarding ceremony were Kwak Pom Gi, vice-premier of the DPRK Cabinet who is chairman of the DPRK State Commission for Conferring Degrees and Titles, Kang Chun Gum, secretary of the Commission, Choe Chang Sik, vice-minister of Public Health and chairman of the Central Committee of the Korean Medical Association, officials concerned and officials of the German embassy here.

Kim Jong Il Receives Gift from Chinese Friendly Visiting Group

     Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il was presented with a gift by the friendly visiting group of experts and scholars of the Communist Party of China on a visit to the DPRK. The gift was handed to Jong Ha Chol, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, on Wednesday by Leng Yong, executive deputy director of the Document Research Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China who is leading the group.

Kim Yong Nam se reune con el embajador cubano

     Pyongyang, 29 de septiembre (ATCC) -- El presidente del Presidium de la Asamblea Popular Suprema de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, Kim Yong Nam, departio el dia 29 en el Palacio de los Congresos Mansudae con Esteban Lobaina Romero, embajador extraordinario y plenipotenciario de la Republica de Cuba en Corea quien le hizo una visita de despedida. En la ocasion estuvieron presentes el vicecanciller coreano Kung Sok Ung y miembros de la Embajada de Cuba.

Artimana de doble cara es inutil en caso de la RPDC

     Pyongyang, 29 de septiembre (ATCC) -- Por mucho que los Estados Unidos procuren por derrocar el regimen socialista de la digna Republica Popular Democratica de Corea con su artimana de doble cara, o sea, las conversaciones y la opcion militar, nunca realizaran esta ilusion irrisoria, dice asi el periodico Minju Joson en un comentario individual del dia 29 y prosigue: Aunque este pais norteamericano aparenta abogar por las conversaciones y la solucion pacifica, en realidad, gestiona el problema nuclear dando mayor peso a la solucion por via militar.
    Hace poco, la asistente del presidente para la seguridad nacional, Rice, hablo de que su pais tiene derecho a optar por el uso de fuerzas armadas contra el Norte de Corea para resolver el problema nuclear de esta.
    Estas palabras son harinas del mismo costal con la respuesta: "no hemos bajado de la mesa las opciones, inclusive la militar" que dio el portavoz del Departamento de Estado norteamericano a un periodista que le pregunto si "EE.UU. descartaba el uso de la fuerza contra el Norte de Corea".
    Asi que basta saber que el ataque militar preventivo contra la RPDC es la posicion oficial de la Norteamerica.
    El imperio esta acusando a la RPDC del problema nuclear con el proposito de buscar un pretexto y justificacion del ataque militar preventivo contra esta.
    Pero, la RPDC no es un pais que concede sus principios cohibido por las arbitrariedades de EE.UU. que actua de modo irracional.

Vigorosas actividades de deportes masivos

     Pyongyang, 29 de septiembre (ATCC) -- En estos dias, en la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea se desarrolla activamente la labor de pruebas de la preparacion fisica del pueblo. La RPDC decidio fijar agosto y septiembre de cada ano como el ciclo de estas pruebas, que tienen lugar regularmente desde el 37 (1948) de la Era Juche.
    A traves de estas, el gobierno fomenta aun mas en toda la sociedad el ambiente a favor de deportes masivos de modo que los trabajadores, jovenes y ninos escolares se templen fuertemente para prepararse bien al trabajo y defensa nacional.
    La modalidad de calificacion reciproca aplicada este ano multiplica el entusiasmo de las masas.
    En la Universidad Kim Il Sung, la Casa de Maternidad de Pyongyang, los organos, empresas, escuelas del municipio Phyongchon de esta capital se prepararon bien para estos examenes deportivos.
    Entre otros preparativos, realizaron entrenamientos por disciplinas de manera planificada, gracias a lo cual fueron calificados en casi todas de las 11 disciplinas deportivas por edades y sexos indicadas para las pruebas.
    Por otra parte, esta labor de medir la preparacion fisica de las masas populares tambien adquiere animacion en todas las provincias, ciudades y distritos.
    Esta labor marcha con la participacion de todo el pais, lo cual refleja bien un aspecto del espiritu revolucionario y optimista del pueblo coreano, que desea crear una vida mas hermosa con sus esfuerzos abnegados respaldados por la robustez de la constitucion fisica.
