End to Terrorism Called for

     Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- It is the principled and consistent stand of the DPRK to oppose all forms of terrorism and any support to it. The DPRK will in the future, too, make every possible effort to root out terrorism and realize peace and security for all. A DPRK delegate said this in a speech made on Oct. 20 during the discussion of the agenda item 148 (step for combating international terrorism) at the meeting of the Sixth Committee of the 59th UN General Assembly. The struggle against terrorism should not serve the political purpose of any party but should be aimed to defend the sovereignty and the right to development of the countries and the nations, guarantee a free and stable life of the people and promote world's peace and stability, he said, and continued:
    The unilateral and chauvinist policy of anti- terrorism, the unjustified anti-terrorist war, is only causing a vicious cycle of terrorism. Terrorism rampant in different parts of the world is attributable to the unethical foreign policy of repressing other nations through arrogant and arbitrary practices, encroachment upon the sovereignty of other states and social inequality, etc.
    True international relations based on equal sovereignty cannot be established anytime and escalated terrorist acts cannot be prevented unless unilateral and high-handed acts, new obstacles to the international relations, are stopped. In the final analysis it is impossible to prevent the recurrence of the tragic bloodshed that happened in Iraq.
    He called upon all the UN member nations not to allow the pressure and sanctions unilaterally imposed upon the sovereign states and the use of force against them under the signboard of "anti-terrorism" but respect the equal sovereignty, each other's ideology, system, culture and custom and promote the international cooperation to achieve the common development and prosperity.

Bush Accused of Signing "North Korean Human Rights Act"

     Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- A statement titled "We condemn Bush for signing the North Korean Human Rights Act in the Name of Peace" was issued by the General Association of Koreans in the United States on October 19, according to the Internet homepage of "Minjok Thongsin" in the U. S. The statement branded the arrogant and impudent behaviour of Bush who signed the act as an unpardonable crime that deserves a judgment in the name of peace.
    Noting that the act is nothing but a U.S. political and strategic measure to invade the north, the statement stressed that it is the true intention of the U. S. to seek global supremacy, not peace for humankind. The association will not remain an onlooker to the U.S. moves for aggression against the north, it warned, demanding it repent of and apologize for its criminal acts to the world people.
    The United States should not regret for the judgment of history too late but repeal the act, though belatedly, and opt for establishing world peace and order, it urged.

Consultative Meeting of Latin American and Caribbean Regional Organizations

     Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- A consultative meeting of delegates of the Latin American and Caribbean regional organizations for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people was held in Lima on Oct. 16. It reviewed the work of the regional committee and friendship and solidarity organizations of various countries with the Korean people and adopted a special statement and an action program.
    The special statement called for taking an active part in a meeting praising the great persons of Mt. Paektu to be held in the area of the secret camp on Mt. Paektu of Korea in 2005, making tangible contributions to the erection of a monument portraying the great personality of the three generals of Mt. Paektu and thus conveying their revolutionary life and immortal feats they performed for the Korean revolution and the global cause of independence down through generations.
    The meeting set one year till October 2005 as a preparatory period and underscored the need to broadly organize colorful political and cultural events including celebrations and seminars on their feats on a regional and national scale on the occasion of their birthdays, the statement said.
    The action program expressed full support and approval of the proposal for convening the world conference for supporting the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea and said that they would participate in the conference to strongly denounce the anti-reunification moves of the United States and its followers to obstruct the implementation of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and perpetuate the division of Korea.
    They will extend full support and solidarity to the Korean people in their struggle to reunify the country independently and peacefully under the banner of the joint declaration and strongly condemn the anti-national acts of the anti-reunification forces of south Korea who are suppressing the democratic figures and passionate young people by invoking the "National Security Law", the action program said.
    It noted that they would wage a dynamic worldwide struggle to frustrate the U.S. moves to stifle the DPRK and get the U.S. forces withdrawn from south Korea without delay.
    Present at the consultative meeting were delegates of the Latin American and Caribbean regional organizations for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people including Genaro Ledesma Izquieta, chairman of the People's Front of Workers, Peasants and Students of Peru who is first vice-chairman of the Latin American and Caribbean Regional Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification.
    Present on invitation was Kim Jin Bom, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Solidarity with the World People.

Powell's South Korean Trip under Fire

     Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- The People's Action against the Troop Dispatch to Iraq reportedly held a "meeting opposing the south Korean visit of Powell chiefly responsible for the war of aggression and imposing the humiliating south Korea-U.S. alliance upon south Korea and the extension of the term for the dispatched troops' presence in Iraq" in front of the U.S. embassy in Seoul on Oct. 25. Noting that U.S. State Secretary Powell's visit to south Korea is aimed to strengthen the humiliating and unequal south Korea-U.S. alliance, the speakers at the meeting sternly condemned the war criminal's visit to south Korea.
    A resolution read out at the meeting said: The south Korean "government" authorities which have supported the U.S. in its war of aggression introduced a motion calling for an approval of the extension of the term for the dispatched troops in stead of admitting its fault and withdrawing them.
    This is again stirring up the south Korean people's indignation.
    Terming this extension a co-product of the U.S. and the present "government", the resolution urged the authorities to cancel the plan for this extension and immediately withdraw the "Jaitun" unit.
    The south Korean authorities' pursuance of humiliating talks with the U.S. would touch off a strong protest against this, warned the resolution.

National Meeting of Educational Workers Held

     Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- A national meeting of educational workers was held at the People's Palace of Culture here Tuesday on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's historic work "On Further Developing Educational Work". It reviewed the achievements and experience gained in the work to carry out the policy of the Workers' Party of Korea on effecting a revolutionary turn in the educational work and discussed the tasks and ways to bring about a revolutionary turn in the socialist educational work to meet the requirements of the Songun era in the new century.
    Present at the meeting were Premier of the Cabinet Pak Pong Ju and other senior officials of the party and the state and a delegation of educational workers of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan.
    Secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK Choe Thae Bok conveyed a congratulatory message of the WPK Central Committee to the participants in the meeting.
    The congratulatory message said the educational field is facing an honorable yet heavy task to take hold on the Juche-based educational idea of Kim Jong Il and his leadership feats in the educational field as the lifeline, bring about a radical turn in the field to meet the requirements of the Songun era so as to prepare all the students to be true Songun revolutionary soldiers intensely loyal to the WPK and reliable pillars for the building of a great prosperous powerful nation.
    The message stressed the need to decisively strengthen the intellectual education and scientific and technological education as required by the IT age in the new century and bring up the students to be able intellectuals possessed of serviceable knowledge and high creative ingenuity.

Russian Diplomats Help Korean Farmers

     Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- Russian Ambassador e. p. to the DPRK Andrei Karlov and staff members of the Russian embassy here Tuesday went to the DPRK-Russia Friendship Kochang Cooperation Farm in Chollima County, South Phyongan Province, to help farmers there in harvesting. The guests gave helping hands to the farmers who were busy carrying rice sheaves with the pride of working in the glorious land associated with immortal leadership feats of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il.
    During break they chatted and sang songs together with farmers, deepening the friendship.
    The Russian diplomats handed aid materials to the farm.

Officials of Czech Embassy Enjoy Acrobatic Performance

     Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- Charge d' Affaires Miroslav Podhajsky and staff members of the Czech embassy here watched an acrobatic performance at the Pyongyang Circus Theatre on Oct. 26 on the occasion of the Czech national day. Enjoying it together with the guests were officials concerned and working people and school youth and children in the city.

Seminar on Juche-based Literary and Art Idea Held

     Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- A seminar on the Juche-based literary and art idea took place at the Chollima House of Culture on Oct. 26 to deeply grasp the unique idea and theory expounded by leader Kim Jong Il that songs are also part of humanics and apply it to creative activities. Speeches were made under the titles "The originality and greatness of the Juche-oriented literary and art theory on humanic nature and mission of songs newly clarified by the Great General Kim Jong Il", " It is a prerequisite to making songs part of humanics to vividly reflect a living man and his life in the words of a song," etc.
    The speakers said: Kim Jong Il opened a new history of the development of the Juche-based music art long ago. Recently he expounded the unique idea and theory on the nature and mission of songs that songs are part of humanics. This is a new discovery in the human history of literature and art. They recalled that Kim Jong Il expounded the scientific and original idea that songs are part of humanics as they reflect a living man and his life and arouse people to a revolutionary struggle and specified the ways of applying them to creative practice.
    They called upon all the creators and artistes to deeply study and grasp the new idea and theory taught by him and develop Korean music into humanics as required by the Songun era.

Japan's Sinister Move for Overseas Aggression Blasted

     Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- The advisory security body for the Japanese prime minister worked out a new "Japan-U.S. joint declaration for security" and presented to him a report calling for enabling the "Self-Defence Forces"(SDF) to undertake its basic mission instead of performing a secondary duty in the international arena and easing the three principles of arms export so that parts of interceptor missiles may be exported to the United States. Minju Joson today in a signed commentary brands such move as a sinister one aimed at overseas aggression.
    It goes on:
    The U.S. is calling for "strengthened Japan-U.S. alliance" for the realization of the world domination strategy focused on its strategy of domination over the Asian and Pacific region and going ahead with its global plan for the redeployment of its forces on the basis of its strategy of giving importance to Japan. Taking this as a golden opportunity of realizing its ambition for overseas aggression, Japan is busying itself to make preparations for it.
    Its move to ease the three principles of arms exports is aimed to shift its work to establish an interceptor missile system to the stage of its deployment from that of joint research in a bid to develop the cooperative relations between the two countries in this field.
    Nowadays the Japanese reactionaries are openly revealing their intention to delete what they called "clauses on Far-East" referring to the aim of the presence of U.S. troops in Japan from the "Japan-U.S. Security Pact" and "Japan-U.S. Joint Security Declaration." If this happens, the SDF will be able to conduct any joint military operation with the U.S. forces in any place of the world.
    No country in the world wishes to see the revival of militarism in Japan.
    If Japan truly wants to do something helpful to humankind, it should liquidate its crime-woven past, to begin with.
    Japan would be well advised to face up to the trend of the times towards peace and development and give up its ambition for military reinvasion without delay.

U.S. Anti-DPRK Smear Campaign under Fire

     Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- The United States is busy with an anti-DPRK smear campaign, letting loose a string of balderdash such as a "nuclear test", a "missile test-fire", state-sponsored "drug trafficking", "suppression of religion" and the "training of hackers", etc. in a bid to tarnish its image and brand it as an international "rogue state" and a "trouble-maker." Rodong Sinmun Wednesday carries a signed commentary in this regard.
    Lurking behind this anti-DPRK smear campaign is a sinister aim sought by the U.S. to justify before the international community its unreasonable act of scuttling the DPRK-U.S. talks and stepping up its one-sided hard-line policy toward the DPRK and, at the same time, create an atmosphere favorable for pursuing a more hard-line policy of pressure towards the DPRK in case of Bush's reelection, the commentary observes, and goes on:
    A more important aim sought by it through such mean smear campaign is to keep the situation on the Korean Peninsula unstable all the time and create an atmosphere favorable for realizing its strategy to dominate Northeast Asia.
    This strategy is also targeted against China and Russia. The U.S. is going to force the DPRK, the only country in the hostile relationship of confrontation with it, to fall victim to its strategy in a bid to contain and overpower its surrounding countries.
    Had the DPRK not increased its military deterrent force, it would have been swallowed up by the U.S. long ago and forced into slavery and Northeast Asia including the Korean Peninsula would have turned into the second Iraq and the second Mideast. It is thanks to the Songun politics and strong deterrent force of the DPRK that such abnormal incident has not occurred in Northeast Asia and the present status quo is maintained.
    The Bush group had better clearly understand the DPRK's Songun politics and the might of its deterrent force and drop its despicable wild ambition to realize its strategy of domination over East Asia at the sacrifice of the DPRK.

Kim Yong Nam Receives Credentials from New Cuban Ambassador

     Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, received credentials from Ruben Perez Valdes, Cuban ambassador e.p. to the DPRK, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall Wednesday. Present there were Choe Su Hon, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and staff members of the Cuban embassy here.
    The president conversed with the ambassador after receiving the credentials.

Wreaths Laid before Cemetery of CPV Martyrs

     Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- The Chinese embassy in Pyongyang laid a wreath before the cemetery of martyrs of the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) in Hoechang County, South Phyongan Province on Wednesday on the occasion of the 54th anniversary of the CPV's entry into the Korean front. Present at the wreath-laying ceremony were Charge d'Affaires Guan Huabing and staff members of the Chinese embassy.
    Amidst the playing of the wreath-laying music the participants laid a wreath before the cemetery in the name of the embassy.
    They paid silent tribute to the memory of the fallen fighters of the CPV.
    Hoechang county party and power bodies and working people's organizations also paid floral tribute to the cemetery of the CPV martyrs today.

Kim Jong Il Inspects KPA Unit

     Pyongyang, October 28 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's　Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, and　chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's　Republic of Korea, inspected KPA Unit 1404. He was accompanied by KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and　Member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and First Vice　Department Director of the WPK Central Committee Ri Yong Chol.　 He learned about the unit' s performance of duty before walking the　compound of the barracks reminiscent of a park to acquaint himself with its　management.
    Seeing the barracks surrounded by persimmon trees heavily laden with red　persimmons, outdoor resting places and entertainment and amusement places,　he was greatly satisfied to learn that the unit splendidly spruced up the　compound of the barracks and it planted a variety of many fruit trees, in　particular.
    He took deep care of the service and living of soldiers, going round an　educational room, a bedroom, a mess hall, a kitchen, a washroom, a daily　provision store and entertainment and logistic facilities,　 No details of soldiers' life escaped him ranging from their watching TV,　their use of publications, the temperature in their bedrooms to the amount　of water in bathrooms and the preparation of food to their taste. He　specified ways to improve them.
    He familiarized himself with the sideline job of the unit, looking round　the barns crowded with fat ducks, geese, pigs and goats and the fish farm　teeming with various species of fishes.
    Greatly pleased to learn that the unit has scrupulously organized the　stockbreeding and the sideline job to provide its soldiers with good　conditions for diet, he said that the KPA is a true pace-setter in　self-reliance as it creates something from nothing.
    He highly praised the feats performed by the officers and men of the unit,　saying that they have set an example in the management of the unit as　befitting the soldiers in the Songun era.
    He spared time to watch an art performance given by soldiers of a company　of the unit.
    The soldiers of the KPA have grown to be optimistic fighters and　revolutionaries true to the Party's idea and possessed of the faith in the　victory of the revolution, he said, adding that man-centred socialism in the　DPRK is invincible as it has such a strong revolutionary army.
    He gave a pair of binoculars, a machine gun and an automatic rifle to the　soldiers of the unit as gifts before having a photo session with them.

Kim Jong Il's Distinguished Political Ability, Source of Great Changes

     Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- The cause of socialism has made a great progress in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea thanks to the distinguished political ability of Leader Kim Jong Il. In the 1990s the imperialists and reactionaries further intensified their anti-DPRK campaign than ever before, availing themselves of the collapse of socialism in various countries and advertising the "end of socialism".
    In his famous work "Socialism Is a Science" published on November 1, Juche 83 (1994), Kim Jong Il clarified the scientific accuracy and truthfulness of socialism and the inevitability of its victory in a profound way to refute the sophism of the imperialists and reactionaries and to implant firm faith in socialism in the minds of people.
    He provided correct ideological and theoretical guidelines for the accomplishment of the socialist cause by publishing several works including "Giving Priority to Ideological Work Is Essential for Accomplishing Socialism."
    With the front of anti-imperialism and military affairs becoming the main front of the revolution, he has put forward the revolutionary philosophy that the army is the Party, state and people and began pursuing a unique policy based on the Songun idea.
    Over the last decade from January 1, Juche 84 (1995) he has inspected army units on 580 occasions to increase the nation's defence capabilities.
    Thanks to the revolutionary armed forces strengthened under his Songun-based leadership, the Korean people have won victory in the confrontation with the imperialists and dynamically pushed ahead with the building of a great socialist prosperous powerful nation, defying manifold trials and difficulties.
    Since Order 0051 of the supreme commander of the Korean People's Army on the construction of Chongryu Bridge (second stage) and Kumrung Tunnel No.2 was issued on November 9, 1994, a fresh progress has been made in construction in the country.
    Under his wise guidance, national power with the defence industry as the core has been consolidated, and more than 284,800 hectares of land were rezoned into large-size standardized fields in Kangwon, North and South Phyongan, South Hwanghae provinces and Pyongyang over the last six years, obtaining 6,400-odd hectares of new arable land.
    The last decade has witnessed the construction of over 1,600 modern villages across the country.
    Many edifices have made their appearance. Among them are the Kaechon-Lake Thaesong Waterway, Anbyon Youth Power Station, Anbyon Youth Power Station No.2, Kwangmyongsong Saltern, August 1 Youth Saltern, Academy of Koryo Medicine, basic foodstuff factories, poultry farms, Ryongmun Cavern, Songam Cavern and Kuwolsan recreation ground.

     Pyongyang, 27 de octubre (ATCC) -- Tuvo lugar el dia 26 la Conferencia Nacional de Educadores en el capitalino Palacio Cultural del Pueblo. El conclave convocado con motivo del 20 aniversario de la publicacion de la obra historica del Dirigente Kim Jong Il "Para un mayor desarrollo de la labor educativa" hizo balance de los exitos y experiencias logrados en tiempos anteriores en la labor para materializar la orientacion del Partido del Trabajo de Corea sobre la revolucion educativa y debatio las tareas y medios para producir un viraje revolucionario en la educacion socialista conforme a la demanda de la epoca del Songun (priorizacion militar) del nuevo siglo.
    Estuvieron presentes el primer ministro de Consejo de Ministros, Pak Pong Ju, y otros cuadros del partido y el Estado y la delegacion de funcionarios docentes de la Chongryon (Asociacion General de Coreanos Residentes en Japon).

    Los profesores deben prepararse como verdaderos educadores de la epoca del Songun listos tanto en lo ideo-politico como en lo cientifico-teorico e introducir activamente en su trabajo los modernos medios de tecnica de informatica y pedagogicos para enriquecer y diversificar el contenido y metodos de la educacion.
    En el acto hubo intervenciones y fue recitada una poesia dedicada al conclave por un grupo de felicitacion de la Union de Ninos de Corea.
