Head of DPRK Delegation on Peace and Security on Korean Peninsula

     Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- Vice-Minister of the People's Armed Forces Kim Sang Ik who is heading a delegation of the DPRK clarified its view on the issue of preserving the regional peace and security centering around the Korean Peninsula in his speech made at the security policy meeting of the ASEAN Regional Forum on November 5. The basic factor of disturbing peace and stability in the Asian-Pacific region at present is a military threat based on unilateralism and high-handed acts, he said, adding that it is the Korean Peninsula where it is most strongly felt and it is, therefore, a most pressing issue in preserving the regional security to ensure peace on the peninsula.
    He went on to say: The present U.S. administration listed the DPRK as part of an "axis of evil" and a target of its preemptive nuclear attack and adopted a policy for stifling it by force of arms. It has persistently resorted to the anti-DPRK hostile acts to bring down its system by mobilizing military forces and all other means.
    Under this tense political and military situation surrounding the peninsula the DPRK is left with no other option but to increase self-defensive capability in every way in order to firmly defend the sovereignty of the country and the nation
    What is essential for completely removing the danger of war from the peninsula and ensuring the regional peace is to put an end to U.S. unilateralism and hegemony among other things, its hostile policy toward the DPRK and military threat, in particular.
    If the U.S. persistently follows its confrontational hostile policy toward the DPRK, in the future, too, from the viewpoint of escapism, this will only compel the latter to double its self-defensive military capability including nuclear deterrent.
    The Korean People's Army will as ever make every possible effort to avert a war on the Korean Peninsula and in the region and ensure lasting peace in reliance upon its self-reliant defence capability, he concluded.

Government Delegation of Democratic Congo Concludes Its Visit to@DPRK

     Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- The government delegation of Democratic Congo headed by Raymond Ramazani Baya, minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, flew back on Nov. 9 after winding up its four-day visit to the DPRK. During its stay the delegation visited the Kumsusan Memorial Palace and paid homage to President Kim Il Sung.
    It also visited Mangyongdae where there is the old home of the President, the Tower of the Juche Idea, the Grand People's Study House, "Pueblo", the armed spy ship of the U.S. imperialists, and other places.

Candlelight Rally Held for Abolition of NSL in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- A joint candlelight solidarity rally was reportedly held in front of the building of the "National Assembly" on Nov. 3 by more than 200 members of the People's Solidarity for Abolition of the "National Security Law", the Headquarters of the People's Movement for the Democratic Revision of the Law on Private Schools and Liquidation of the Corrupt History, the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils, the south Korean Council of Youth Organizations and other organizations in demand of the abolition of the NSL. It was attended by those on a sit-in strike in various parts of Seoul in demand of the NA passage of the bill on reform which reflects the stand of the progressive forces.
    Speeches were made at the rally.
    O Jong Ryol, co-representative of the People's Solidarity, called on all the people to unite to pave the way for independence, reunification and democracy.
    Yu Son Hui, executive member of the Democratic Workers' Party, in a speech held that the NSL, an evil law dating back to the old era, should be abolished without fail.
    Yun Hui Chan, director of the organizational department of the "National Teachers' Union" (Jongyojo), noted that preparations for joint lectures are brisk at schools across south Korea to demand the abrogation of the NSL with Jongyojo playing a major role in them.
    The rally was followed by an art performance given on theme of the abolition of the NSL.
    The participants had a ceremony of lighting the candles bearing the words "Abolition of the NSL."
    Prior to this, sit-in strikers of the People's Solidarity conducted information service and foot march in demand of the abolition of the evil law.

Declaration of 1,000 Peasants for Abolition of NSL in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- More than 1,300 members of the "National Federation of Peasants Associations" (Jonnong), the "National Federation of Women Peasants Associations", the south Korean Catholic Peasants Association and other organizations reportedly called a press conference in Youido, Seoul, on November 4 and made public a declaration of 1,000 peasants demanding the repeal of the "National Security Law". There Vice-Chairman of Jonnong So Jong Gil and Chairperson of its National Reunification Committee Han To Suk said the abolition of the evil law is inevitable, deploring that peasant activists were suppressed, charged with "enemy-benefiting," and agricultural exchange with the north was barred under the NSL.
    They stated they would wage a fearless struggle for the repeal of the NSL and defense of food sovereignty with 30,000 peasants in attendance in front of Seoul Railway Station on November 13.
    Permanent Representative of the Reunification Solidarity Han Sang Ryol said all the people should turn out in the fight for the abrogation of the evil law with a view to implementing the June 15 joint declaration and converting the confrontation of south Korea-U.S. alliance with the north into that of national alliance with the U.S. and make the next year, the 60th year after the division of the country, the first year of independent reunification.
    The declaration of 1,000 peasants read out at the press conference said the peasants would stand in the van of the fight for the abolition of the NSL, an evil law of the old era, and defense of food sovereignty and the righteous struggle to speed up national reunification.

Aerial Stunt "Twin Swinging" Awarded "Yellow Crane Gold Prize"

     Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- The aerial stunt "Twin Swinging" of the Pyongyang Circus was awarded "Yellow Crane Gold Prize", the first prize, and the "Balancing Stunt on the Rope" "Yellow Crane Silver Prize," the second prize, at the 6th Wuhan International Acrobatics Festival held in China from October 29 to November 5. Thirty-one excellent events were put on the stage of the festival which drew acrobats from 10 countries including the DPRK, China and Russia.
    The mayor of the Wuhan City People's Government said after seeing the performance that Korean acrobatics was the world's first-class, adding that the key to this was the energetic leadership of Kim Jong Il.
    The director of the Cultural Department of the city people's government said the aerial stunts performed by Korean acrobats at each festival were fascinating and they inspired people with courage and optimism.
    The chairman of the Chinese Acrobats Association said the appearance of the Korean acrobats flying in the air was quite impressive, adding: We will strive to gain good results like them.

Ugandan Government Delegation Winds Up DPRK Visit

     Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- The Ugandan government delegation headed by Amama Mbabazi, minister of Defence, flew back on Tuesday after winding up its four-day visit to the DPRK. During its stay the delegation visited the Kumsusan Memorial Palace to pay homage to President Kim Il Sung and laid a wreath at the Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery on Mt. Taesong.
    It also visited Mangyongdae where there is the old home of Kim Il Sung, Kim Il Sung Military University, the Mansudae Art Studio and other places.

Government Delegation of Japan Arrives Here

     Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- A government delegation of Japan led by Mitoji Yabunaka, chief of the Asia and Oceania Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, arrived here today to participate in the DPRK-Japan inter-governmental working-level contact.

Winter Kimchi Prepared in Korea

     Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- November is a season of preparing kimchi for winter in Korea. Kimchi has been favorite food of the Korean people since ancient times.
    Kimchi is made in an industrial way in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. But most of the families still like to make it by themselves.
    Nowadays lorries loaded with vegetables are seen everywhere in streets and villages.
    Women are sharing their experience in making tasty kimchi and neighbors helping each other in pickling vegetables and preparing spices.
    There are many kinds of kimchi. Typical of them are thong-kimchi made of whole cabbages, kkaktugi (radish kimchi heavily spiced with pepper and garlic), sokbak-kimchi (sliced cabbages and radishes seasoned with spices) and tongchimi (radishes pickled in salt water).

DPRK's Tremendous Achievements in Construction

     Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- Ten years have passed since the order of the supreme commander of the Korean People's Army "On Building Chongryu Bridge (Second Stage) and Kumnung Tunnel No.2 in Pyongyang" was issued on November 9, Juche 83(1994). It was a historic order which aroused the entire people of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the efforts for creation and construction.
    After President Kim Il Sung passed away, the DPRK was in a grave situation caused by the imperialists' vicious moves to stifle the DPRK and natural disasters.
    The international community was focusing attention on the DPRK, afraid of its political prospect.
    At that conjuncture, Kim Jong Il issued the order, demonstrating to the whole world his strong will to carry forward the Juche-based revolutionary cause pioneered by President Kim Il Sung.
    Encouraged by his order, the Korean servicemen and people turned out as one to carry out the order with a firm determination to share life and death with him, who was resolved to invariably implement the behests of the President. They completed the construction of the second-stage Chongryu Bridge and Kumnung Tunnel No.2 in a matter of one year. With this stamina, they have erected numerous edifices to suit the Songun era over the last decade.
    They have finished nearly 40,000 projects including more than 6,000 industrial establishments and 1,500-odd cultural facilities over the last seven years from the "Arduous March".
    In recent years they completed many construction projects including the Kaechon-Lake Thaesong Waterway (natural-flow irrigation) and Thaechon Youth Power Station No 3. And for six years, they realigned over 284,800 hectares of fields in Kangwon, North and South Phyongan and South Hwanghae Provinces and Pyongyang to suit the features of the socialist rural communities.
    The last decade has witnessed the appearance of 1,600 modern rural villages across the country.
    The capital city of Pyongyang is also changing its looks as planned by the President.

Canonazo historico de creacion y construccion

     Pyongyang, 9 de noviembre (ATCC) -- Desde hace ahora 10 anos, especificamente, el 9 de noviembre del 83 (1994) de la Era Juche, fue emitida la orden del Comandante Supremo del Ejercito Popular de Corea "Sobre la construccion del puente Chongryu (segunda etapa) y el tunel Kumrung no.2 en la ciudad de Pyongyang". Esta orden significo un historico canonazo que dio inicio al auge de la creacion y la construccion sobre la tierra patria.
    En aquel entonces, Corea en luto nacional por el fallecimiento del Presidente Kim Il Sung (el 8 de julio de 1994) se hallaba en una encrucijada de vivir o sucumbir a causa de las perversas maquinaciones de los imperialistas reaccionarios encaminadas a aislarla y aplastarla y sucesivas calamidades naturales.
    El mundo enfocaba su optica a la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea sospechando de su porvenir politico.
    En medio de esta situacion, el General Insigne del Songun (priorizacion militar) del Paektu, Comandante Supremo Kim Jong Il dicto tal orden con su ferrea conviccion y voluntad de completar hasta el final la causa revolucionaria del Juche, iniciada por el Presidente.
    Al recobrar la fuerza y animo mil veces mayor por esa orden, los uniformados y otros habitantes de Corea terminaron las obras en un ano dando pruebas de noble espiritu de compartir el destino con el Comandante Supremo en pleno acato al legado del Presidente.
    Ademas, en estos 10 anos pasados, con el mismo impetu levantaron un sinnumero de creaciones de la epoca del Songun.
    Durante estos 7 anos que datan del periodo de la "Marcha penosa", dieron toque final a la construccion de mas de 6 mil establecimientos industriales y cerca de 40 mil obras incluidas mas de mil 500 instalaciones culturales.
    En los ultimos anos, se completaron el gran canal de fluencia natural Kaechon-lago Thaesong, la planta electrica Juventud no.3 de Thaechon y otras muchas creaciones. A esto se suma el arreglo de tierras cultivables de mas de 284 mil 800 hectareas de las provincias de Kangwon, Phyong-an del Norte y del Sur, Hwanghae del Sur y la ciudad de Pyongyang como las propias de Corea socialista, lo cual contribuyo a renovar la fisonomia del pais.
    En la decada pasada, en los campos rurales de todo el pais se formaron de nuevo mas de mil 600 aldeas modernas.
    Segun el proyecto del Presidente sobre la construccion de la capital, Pyongyang se convierte en una mega-ciudad mas moderna y hermosa.
    Gracias al Dirigente Kim Jong Il quien encarna en si la sublime obligacion moral hacia el Presidente, la historia de transformacion de Corea transitara eternamente.

Corea en plena preparacion de Kimchi

     Pyongyang, 9 de noviembre (ATCC) -- En Corea el mes de noviembre es temporada tradicional de preparacion de Kimchi. Desde la antiguedad, Kimchi se consideraba una comida favorita para la nacion coreana y se conocia como "provisiones para un semestre".
    Pese a la aparicion del procesamiento industrial, la mayoria de amas de casa prefieren el tradicional metodo de preparacion casera.
    En estos dias, es facil toparse con camiones cargados al tope de nabos y acelgas frescos que transitan atareados en las calles y repartos y con las legumbres amontonadas en los patios que se desaparecen gradualmente adentro de las casas para luego ser ensaladas por las amas.
    Por doquier flota en las conversaciones el metodo de procesamiento de Kimchi. Las amas de hogar intercambian sus experiencias y cooperan en la saladura de verduras y la preparacion de condimentos.
    Yun Ji Hye, mujer que habita en la Unidad de vecinos No. 30 del barrio Mangyongdae del municipio homonimo, dijo sonriente a una reportera que el Kimchi de su casa para este ano sera mas exquisito que los anteriores porque muchas vecinas maestras en esta materia le ayudaron sinceramente.

Acrobacia aerea de Corea recibe "Premio dorado de ciguena amarilla"

     Pyongyang, 9 de noviembre (ATCC) -- En el VI Festival Internacional de Circo efectuado del 29 de octubre al 5 de noviembre en Wuhan, China, el "Premio dorado de ciguena amarilla" fue otorgado a la acrobacia aerea "Vuelo en columpio de dos personas" y el "Premio de plata de ciguena amarilla" al "Equilibrio sobre la cuerda", del Conjunto Circense de Pyongyang. En la presente cita donde participaron los acrobatas de mas de 10 paises incluyendo la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, China y Rusia se pusieron 31 piezas sobresalientes.
    El alcalde del gobierno popular de la ciudad de Wuhan, al ver la funcion, dijo que la acrobacia de Corea es la primera categoria del mundo y subrayo que tal exito se debe a la dinamica direccion del camarada Kim Jong Il, gran Dirigente del pueblo coreano.
    El director del departamento de cultura del gobierno popular de la citada ciudad senalo que los acrobatas coreanos asisten a cada festival con acrobacias aereas, que infunden el coraje y el optimismo a los espectadores.
    El presidente de la Asociacion de Circo de China senalo que al ver los aspectos de las acrobatas coreanas en vuelo todos quedan muy admirados y anadio que se esforzaran por lograr buenos exitos al igual que ellas.
