Kim Jong Il Praised by American
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- John Paul Cupp, chairman of the U.S. Group for the Study of Songun Politics, on Nov. 9 posted an article titled "What a great man Comrade Kim Jong Il is" on the Internet homepage.
He began his article by recalling the fact that a member of the National Democratic Front of south Korea, who had been arrested by fascists of south Korea, shouted "Long live Comrade Kim Il Sung!", "Long live Comrade Kim Jong Il!" and "Long live the Juche idea!" at the last moments of his life.
Then there are questions as to why do intellectuals respect and revere General Kim Jong Il so deeply, why do they so readily dedicate their lives to him and why are people so proud to call his august name.
He explained in the article that Kim Jong Il is the most prominent leader in the present era just as President Kim Il Sung was.
Though the socialist movement suffered setbacks in different countries, the brilliant and august name of Kim Jong Il serves as a symbol of the militant and invincible defender of the world, he stressed, adding:
In this new era of Songun when the popular masses are fully displaying their creative ingenuity thanks to the might of the army, the august name of Kim Jong Il is deeply enshrined in the hearts of humankind who is working hard to achieve complete independence.
Thursday Rally for Total Abrogation of NSL Held in S. Korea
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- The 544th Thursday rally for total abrogation of the "National Security Law" (NSL) was reportedly held in front of the "National Assembly" building in Youido, Seoul, on Nov. 18 under the sponsorship of the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy (Mingahyop).
Jo Sun Dok, permanent chairperson of Mingahyop, said at the rally that women have struggled every day for the abolition of the NSL, urging the Uri Party to come out actively for the total abolition of the evil law.
So Kyong Sun, former permanent chairperson of Mingahyop, denounced the conservative forces for desperately working to keep the evil law.
Kwon O Hon, chairman of the Society for Supporting Prisoners of Conscience under Mingahyop, chided the Uri Party for not making yet a political decision under the pressure of the conservative forces even after deciding on the abolition of the evil law as its party policy. Now is the time for us to get united in the struggle to build an independent and reunified country, he stressed.
Im Ki Ran, former permanent chairperson of Mingahyop, said that the ruling party should not submit to the Cold War- minded conservative forces, aware of its own mission, but join the people in their struggle for the abrogation of the evil law.
Then Ri Yong, chief for general affairs of Mingahyop, read out a letter to the "National Assembly".
The letter demanded the authorities totally abolish the evil law which is hostile toward the nation and obstructive to the reunification of the country.
Lift of Ban on Connection with Internet Sites Demanded
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- The Society for Cooperation among Koreans in Germany reportedly released a statement on Nov. 18 demanding the lift of ban on connection with Internet sites.
Referring to the fact that the conservative forces of south Korea cut off any connection with Internet sites of at least 30 overseas Koreans' organizations on the charge of being "pro-north sites," the statement denounced the south Korean authorities for this action.
If the conservative forces persist in such anachronistic actions, defying the mind-set of the Koreans in the south, the north and abroad, who wish peace and reunification of the nation, they will not be pardoned by the nation, the statement warned.
It demanded the government immediately lift the ban on any connection with Internet sites of patriotic compatriots overseas, repeal the "National Security Law" at an early date and punish those responsible for cutting off connections with Internet sites of overseas compatriots.
S. Korean Authorities' Action to Cut Off Operation of Internet Sites Assailed
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the National Democratic Front of south Korea on Nov. 19 released a statement denouncing the south Korean authorities' action to cut off the operation of "pro-north sites," according to Kuguk Jonson Internet site.
The statement branded this anachronistic action as fascist tyranny as it ruthlessly infringes upon the people's right to know and an intolerable perfidy to the historic June 15 joint declaration supported by all the Koreans. It strongly demanded the south Korean authorities immediately lift this ban.
The authorities instructed the Ministry of Information and Telecommunication to force the business bodies for Internet information service to close all north-related sites, the statement said, and went on:
Such action reminds one of the dark period of the press under the military fascist dictatorship when the people's freedom of thinking and expression was mercilessly suppressed on the charge of being "pro-north" and "pro-communism."
The reality goes to clearly prove that though the authorities talk much about south-north reconciliation and cooperation, they have an axe to grind and that south Korea is a barren land of the press and human rights where no one is allowed to freely use the Internet though it is in wide use worldwide.
The authorities should immediately lift the ban on the above-said Internet sites, clearly mindful that the action going against the trend of the times and mind-set of the people will only precipitate their own destruction.
Period of All-out Struggle for Abolition of NSL Declared in S. Korea
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- The People's Solidarity for the Abolition of the "National Security Law" in south Korea reportedly held an emergency meeting at the assembly hall of the (south) Korean Confederation of Trade Unions in Yongdungpho, Seoul, on November 18 and declared the days from December 1 to 9 as a period of an all-out struggle for the repeal of the evil law.
At the meeting representatives of different public organizations delivered reports on the struggle for the repeal of the evil law, including hunger sit-in, information activities among people, foot marches and candlelight cultural events which had taken place in all areas.
Pak Rae Gun, head of the policy team of the People's Solidarity for the Abolition of the NSL, setting out the orientation of the future struggle, stressed the need to have the evil law scrapped within this year, and called upon all the civic and public organizations to lift the struggle to a new height and conduct information activities among people, an intensive fight covering all areas and activities vis-a-vis the "National Assembly" until December 9.
The resolution read out at the meeting accused the Uri Party of backing away from its former position in face of the offensive of the Grand National Party and said that those who fail to come out for the repeal of the NSL could not be regarded as democrats.
"We vow to turn out in the struggle for the abolition of the NSL, mustering all the forces available, during the regular National Assembly session," stated the resolution.
Gift to Kim Jong Il from Syrian Organization
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il received a gift from the Federation of Transport Trade Unions of Syria.
The gift was handed to an official concerned by Ghassan Aboud, head of the delegation of the federation, on a visit to the DPRK.
U.S. Urged to Build Groundwork of Six-party Talks
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- There must be a seed and a master key, if the six-party talks are to be resumed and pushed forward and that is for the U.S. to clarify its willingness to make a policy switchover and co-exist with the DPRK in peace, states Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a signed commentary.
We deem it necessary to make clear once again the DPRK's consistent stand of laying main stress on the U.S. policy in the settlement of the nuclear issue in view of the spread of strange rumors inconsistent with fact by some media in the U.S., the commentary says, and goes on:
The six-party talks fail to be resumed not because the DPRK insists on DPRK-U.S. bilateral talks but because the U.S. continues to pursue a hostile policy toward the DPRK aimed at "overthrow of its system" and "collapse of socialism," destroying the very groundwork of the six-party talks and applying double standards in dealing with the nuclear issue. The U.S. has breached the agreement on and common understanding of the principle of "words for words" and "action for action", the basic way of solving the nuclear issue, reached between the parties concerned and this resulted in blowing up the basic groundwork of the talks.
It is only too plain and self-evident that the six-party talks can never be held unless the U.S., which is to blame for the destruction of their groundwork, rebuilds it.
The DPRK clarified more than once that it would not stick to any form of dialogue to solve the nuclear issue.
The U.S. should rectify its hostile policy toward the DPRK and opt to co-exist with it in peace. It would be impossible to think about the six-party talks or expect any results without this. The dialogue without seed, even if it were held, would result in exchange of verbal attacks and waste of time.
We feel constrained to emphasize that the Bush administration should give abundant clarity to its willingness to make a switchover in its policy toward the DPRK and co-exist with it in peace. This would provide groundwork for the two sides to sit at the negotiating table. Correctly understanding this, the U.S. should retract its hostile policy aimed at "overthrow" and "collapse" of the system in the DPRK and choose peaceful co-existence with it.
Increase of Self-Defensive Power Urged
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Tuesday stresses that self-defensive power is the lifeline of the country and the nation and a sure guarantee for defense of sovereignty.
Pointing out that the increase of self-defensive power is the best way of defending the sovereignty of the countries and the nations, the author of the article goes on:
This is because the struggle to defend sovereignty is, in essence, an acute military confrontation with the imperialist forces which trample upon the sovereignty of other countries and nations and seek domination and subjugation.
Regarding strength as an all-powerful means to realize their ambition for world supremacy, the imperialists wantonly encroach and crudely trample down the sovereignty of other countries and nations by resorting to military force. It is a foolish and useless act to expect good will from the imperialists and try to preserve sovereignty by submitting to and compromising with them.
It is impossible to win victory in the confrontation with imperialism without a strong self-defensive power.
That the increase of self-defensive power is the best way of defending sovereignty is a serious lesson drawn from the miserable lot of the countries and nations which collapsed like a wet mud wall in face of the imperialists' aggression in recent years to find their sovereignty ruthlessly violated.
Not only political independence but also self-supporting economy are ensured and guaranteed by strong military force. Negligence in increasing self-defensive power results only in the loss of sovereignty and the lot of slavery.
The bloody lesson of the Iraqi situation is that the sovereignty and independence and peace of a country can be defended only when it increases its self-defensive power, firmly arms the servicepersons and people with the spirit of national independence and right view on war and fight the enemy staunchly, not begging for peace by compromise and concession.
When one has a mighty self-defensive power, one has nothing to fear and gets dauntless grit and no enemy would dare pounce upon it.
When all the countries aspiring after independence increase self-defensive power with an unshakable anti-imperialist independent stand, the aggression and war moves of the imperialists will prove powerless and the sovereignty, security and peace of the countries and nations be firmly guaranteed.
Reckless Remarks of Floor Leader of GNP Blasted
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- Kim Tok Ryong, floor leader of the south Korean Grand National Party, when commenting on what the south Korean chief executive said at a meeting of senior party officials held on Nov. 19, blurted out that siding with the north would not help solve its nuclear issue and it can be settled only on the basis of consolidating the south Korea-U.S. relations.
Rodong Sinmun today says in a signed commentary in this regard:
This outcry can be let loose only by a wicked pro-U.S. sycophantic traitor who is prolonging his remaining days in reliance upon the United States, bereft of even an iota of consciousness of being a Korean.
Had Kim Tok Ryong had even the slightest will for national reconciliation and reunification and even a shred of national conscience and soul, he would not have let loose a whole string of malarkey so vociferously just to please the U.S. The GNP is so obsessed with pro-U.S. sycophancy that it cannot properly distinguish between compatriots and outsiders and behave with reason.
As for Kim, he worked as a left-hand man of heinous traitor Kim Young Sam.
This guy is steeped in flunkeyism towards America and traitorous nature to the marrow of his bone. This is again evidenced by the fact that as soon as Kim Young Sam criticized the south Korean chief executive's remarks, asserting that he shielded the north though its nukes were intended to attack somebody, Kim Tok Ryong came out to echo the former's outcry.
Such disgraceful act of betraying the security and interests of the country and the nation can be perpetrated only by such wicked sycophantic traitor keen to seek a way out in acting a running dog of the U.S., utterly indifferent to the destiny of the nation.
Calling on all Koreans to hold in check the GNP's traitorous act of supporting the U.S. in its hostile moves against the north in betrayal of the nation, the commentary stresses this is the way of preventing a war and achieving peace, reunification and national prosperity.
Secretaries of WPK Central Committee Meet New Cuban Ambassador
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- Jon Pyong Ho, Choe Thae Bok, Jong Ha Chol and Kim Ki Nam, secretaries of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, met and had friendly talks with Ruben Perez Valdes, new Cuban ambassador e.p. to the DPRK, who paid courtesy calls on them on Tuesday.
Present there were Pak Kyong Son, vice department director of the WPK Central Committee, and Caridad Adela Galan Pelegrino, political councilor of the Cuban embassy here.
Pyonghakthong, Korea's Old Book on Military Science
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- Pyonghakthong is a book on military drill authored by Jang Ji Hang in 1785. He was the chief of the Military Board of the Ri Dynasty (1392-1905).
The book consists of two volumes.
The first volume has six chapters--"Jangjo", "Pyoljinhoryong", "Songjo", "Sujo", "Yajo" and "Punryon" -- and the second one chapter "Jindo".
Jangjo deals with the rules to be observed at the drilling ground from the procedure of entering the drilling ground to the formation of ranks, actions according to various signals, positions and firing methods of shooters at enemy troops, pursuit battle, regulations of camping and summing up of training.
Given in Pyoljinhoryong are dispositions of troops, chasing methods and signals, formation of troops for battle under different circumstances and verbal order methods.
Songjo deals with combat tactics in castles and Yajo with night action methods including military passwords, ambush and patrol.
Sujo writes about procedures of boarding warships and tactics to be employed in engagement with enemy warships.
Punryon gives detailed drilling methods at each camp, that is, formation and disposition of troops with swords or spears, and signals and firing methods in engagement with enemy forces.
Carried in Jindo are picture-illustrated tactics which were taught at the then training centers.
Among the nearly 100 pictures are those of the fort on Mt. Namhan and the formation of ranks for battle.
Quality Artificial Bone Developed in DPRK
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- The Hamhung Orthopaedic Hospital in South Hamgyong Province, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, has succeeded in making quality artificial bones and introducing them to clinical treatment.
The head and axis of the artificial bone are of same material and covered with substances which can be welded strongly with human bones in the clinical treatment.
The artificial one assimilates itself to and organically compounds with human body and is non-toxic. It, therefore, relieves the patients of pains and helps recover their health quickly.
Medical officials of the hospital and teachers and researchers of the Precision Porcelain Engineering Department of Hamhung University of Chemical Engineering have pooled their efforts to decide the form of the head of thighbone suitable for the Korean people's constitution. They also found a unique method of calcinating artificial bones.
Its long clinical test proves successful.
It causes no sequela.
Ri Sung Sam, director of the hospital, told KCNA that this research success has opened a bright vista for orthopedic surgery.
KCNA Refutes Story about DPRK's "Secret Sale of Fluorine Gas" to Iran
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- Western media recently spread misinformation that the DPRK secretly sold fluorine gas to Iran.
According to it, the DPRK allegedly transported the gas, main ingredient of nuclear weapons, to Iran by a special plane on May 20 and the gas may be used not only as nuclear fuel but for the production of uranium hexafluoride gas.
Explicitly speaking, there had never been any negotiation or dealing between the DPRK and Iran as regards the nuclear issue.
The story about the DPRK's "secret sale of fluorine gas" is another farce orchestrated to tarnish the image of the DPRK on the international arena.
What merits attention is that the enemies are now working foolishly to deliberately link those countries Bush designated as part of an "axis of evil" to each other.
The media even made such a threadbare analysis that the DPRK's export of nuclear substance has played an important role, going beyond the stage of involvement in Iran's nuclear program, and its dealing with north Korea suspected of nuclear development despite risk may be presumed to be an attempt to make Tehran's nuclear development a fait accompli before the international community.
They floated sheer misinformation that the DPRK secretly sold uranium hexafluoride to Libya in May and this time faked up the above-said story in a bid to link Pyongyang to Teheran.
Lurking behind this is a sinister aim to brand the DPRK as a proliferator of nuclear substance come what may, create an international atmosphere favorable for imposing sanctions against the DPRK and secure a justification for realizing its scenario for aggression such as a preemptive attack.
This charade is timed to coincide with the Bush administration's announcement of its "policy guidelines" in which it defined the transfer of nuclear substance as a danger line and threatened to punish the DPRK if it violates the line. The fact goes to clearly prove that the story about the "secret sale of fluorine gas" is nothing but a product of the premeditated plan worked out by the forces hostile to the DPRK in a bid to invent pretexts for isolating and stifling the DPRK one by one.
Not content with setting afloat the fiction of the DPRK's "uranium enrichment program," they orchestrated such poor farces as the "secret sale of uranium hexafluoride" and the "secret sale of fluorine gas". This only indicates that the enemies' hostile policy toward the DPRK has reached an extreme phase.
The DPRK can never tolerate such sinister plots of the U.S. and its allies to convince the international community of the DPRK's "nuclear crisis."
Liars have short wings and truth is bound to be distinguished from falsity.
It is nothing but a pipedream to bring down the DPRK through false propaganda.
Increased efforts on the part of the U.S. and its allies to isolate and stifle the DPRK would only encourage it to further boost its self-defensive capability to defend its sovereignty and right to existence.
