RS Calls for Intensifying Anti-U.S. Struggle through National Cooperation

     Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- The more desperate the U.S. imperialists become in their moves for a war and against reunification, the higher Korean nation should hold the banner of independence to strengthen national cooperation in every way and thus foil their moves for aggression and against reunification. Rodong Sinmun Friday says this in a signed article. It goes on:
    National cooperation is essential for the independent development of the nation.
    Independence serves as absolute truth related to carving out the nation's destiny and without it the nation's existence and development would be unthinkable.
    The Korean nation feels more keenly the importance of the national independence than any other nations as it has not yet achieved the uniform development of the north and the south due to its division caused by outsiders.
    In order to achieve national reunification and accelerate the development of the nation it is necessary, first of all, for the Koreans desirous of reunification to join hands, realize national cooperation and thus frustrate foreign forces' moves for domination.
    National cooperation is more urgently required than ever before as the U.S. and pro-U.S. forces of south Korea are getting more frantic in their anti-reunification moves.
    It is the need of the times and the nation.
    Only when the north and the south joint efforts and realize inter-Korean cooperation is it possible to smoothly solve all matters including the issue of reconciliation and cooperation and the issue of defending peace on the Korean Peninsula.
    It is necessary to boost the national cooperation at present when it is needed to protect the country and nation from the U.S. policy of aggression towards the north.
    In order to pursue effective national cooperation it is important to see through the aggressive nature of outsiders, discard any expectation and illusion about them and enshrine the pride and consciousness that the Korean nation is the best and a high sense of national independence that the issue of the Koreans should be settled by their concerted efforts under any circumstances. Dependence on foreign forces and cooperation with the U.S. are little short of acts of treachery and they only lead to confrontation against reunification and a war of aggression against the north. National cooperation means patriotism and leads to peace and reunification.

S. Korean Lawmaker on Hunger Strike

     Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- Kwon Yong Gil, member of the National Assembly from the Democratic Workers' Party (DWP) of south Korea, entered into an indefinite hunger strike on Nov. 29 in protest against the police's breaking into his office room and the unjust labor policy of the government, according to MBC of south Korea.
    He accused the government of intensifying the suppression of the workers on the charge of waging a labor movement for the right to existence. On Nov. 30 he sent an appeal to the members of the DWP in which he branded the government's consistent exclusion and disregard of the DWP as an all-out attack on the labor movement and a sinister attempt to eliminate the progressive politics in this land.

Writings by Foreign Students Presented

     Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- A presentation of writings on the subject "People Blessed with Generals" done by foreign students studying at Kim Il Sung University took place at the Taedonggang Club for the Diplomatic Corps on Thursday on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's assumption of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army and the 87th birth anniversary of anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk. Present there were foreign students studying at different universities here.
    Put on the stage were dialogic poems, essays, travel notes, accounts of visits, impressions, etc.
    In the dialogic poem entitled "December 24 We are Observing" Chinese students impressively told the audience how significantly this day is marked not only by the Korean people but by the world progressives.
    In the essay titled "Focus of the World" and in the travel note captioned "Treasures of Korea" Chinese students highly praised the feats of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il who has successfully carried forward his cause, their traits as great men and the Korean people's happiness of being blessed with the generals generation after generation.
    A Mongolian student in a speech entitled "The Language I Have Learned" spoke highly of the greatness of Kim Jong Il.
    They presented chorus "Remembering the Old Home", male vocal solo "My Blessed Life" and other Korean songs.
    It closed with chorus "Comrade Kim Jong Il Is Our Supreme Commander."

News Conference on Polish National Day

     Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- Wojciech Kaluza, Polish ambassador to the DPRK, Thursday called a news conference at the Taedonggang Club for the Diplomatic Corps on the occasion of the national day of Poland. Present there were media persons in Pyongyang.
    The ambassador referred to the political situation and external policy of Poland and the development of its relations with the DPRK.

Complete Repeal of NSL Demanded in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- Students under the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils reportedly staged a demonstration in demand of the repeal of the "National Security Law (NSL)" in front of the main building of the National Assembly on November 30. On Tuesday, one day before the law was rigged up, more than 40 students launched into a surprise protest with a large placard reading "17th-term National Assembly, scrap NSL".
    They demanded that the National Assembly totally abrogate the NSL in response to the people's demand for the repeal of the evil law.
    Meanwhile, the south Korean Solidarity of Youth and Students for Implementing the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration on November 27 made public a resolution titled "Let all the students turn out as one to get the NSL completely abolished within this year". The resolution said all the progressive reform-minded forces should get united in their fight to have the evil law torn up and achieve a democratic reform against the moves of the anti-reunification forces. The Solidarity of Youth and Students set the days from December 1 to 9 as a period of an all-out struggle and will do everything it can for the abolition of the NSL, the resolution said, calling upon all the youth and students to come out with do-or-die determination to get the NSL completely abolished within this year.

U.S. Talk about North's Nuclear Red Line Flailed

     Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- The United States is these days escalating its moves to pressurize the DPRK by force of arms and preempt an attack on it over its nuclear issue. One of them is its fuss over "north's nuclear limit line" or red line. The red line means a limit to the DPRK's promotion of "nuclear program" unilaterally set by the U.S. Rodong Sinmun Friday carries a signed article in this regard.
    It says:
    The U.S. has so far persistently put pressure upon the DPRK while spreading distorted rumors about its nuclear issue. Recently it has gone the length of talking about the red line and threatening "a military punishment". This is aimed to provoke the second Korean war come what may, charging the DPRK with the "possession of nuclear weapons" and "sponsorship of terrorism."
    The Bush forces are extensively setting afloat the wild rumor that terrorists can gain access to the nuclear-related substances of the DPRK and this may gravely jeopardize the security of the U.S. if Pyongyang's "nuclear program" is not checked, saying it may have produced several atomic bombs at least after it pulled out of the NPT.
    This is nothing but an anti-DPRK smear campaign pursuant to the scenario of the second Korean war and a trick to secure a justification to provoke a war under the pretext of "proliferation of nuclear-related substance" by the DPRK.
    The U.S. warlike forces are bluffing that they would undertake the Korean war with the mobilization of its navy and air forces.
    The U.S. imperialists have massively introduced sea and air task forces in the Asia-Pacific region surrounding the Korean Peninsula, notably in Japan and south Korea. After making full preparations for the war the U.S. now seeks to preempt an attack on the DPRK any moment under the pretext of its nuclear limit line and ignite the powder train of the war against it.
    The U.S. current allegations that the DPRK is not too much interested in the resumption of the six-party talks and it is pursuing the nuclear program while employing a delaying tactics are just part of its propaganda campaign to create the impression that the north's nuclear red line is surfacing in reality.
    The U.S. has already declared a war against the DPRK under the world's eyes by designating it as part of an "axis of evil" and a target of nuclear strikes. Now the U.S. bellicose forces are going to make the red line the starting point of a war.
    They had better stop crying for the north's nuclear red line and make a switchover in its policy intended to stifle the DPRK.

English-Korean Pictorial Dictionary Published

     Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- The Foreign Language Books Publishing House of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has published an English-Korean pictorial dictionary. The dictionary consists of vocabulary, conversation and appendix. It contains words and sentences frequently used in daily life and in cultural, scientific, technological, political, economic, military and other fields.
    The vocabulary part arranges words in alphabetical sequence. The conversation part is divided into elementary conversation and practical conversation.
    Edited in the appendix are English grammar and illustrated juvenile stories, folktales and historical stories including "Rabbit and Tortoise," "Tiger in Picture," "A Fisherman and His Wife" and "Prince of Hodong and Princess of Raknang." They are helpful to learners in studying English sentences in a short span of time.
    Also introduced in the appendix are revolutionary songs, revolutionary sites, historic relics and proverbs common to the Korean people.

Scientific Successes in Light Industrial Domain

     Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- Scientists of the Branch Academy of Light Industrial Science under the Academy of Sciences of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have registered many successes in their scientific research this year. Foodstuff researchers of the branch academy have found out a new kind of soybean malt bacteria through research for the standardization of the bean paste production method. Its protein dissolution ability is 1.5 times that of the old one. They have also built a process to turn out tens of tons of bacteria a year.
    They invented a new method of producing soybean malt by simultaneously cultivating soybean malt bacteria, halo-tolerant lactic acid bacteria and halo-tolerant yeast. It makes it possible to shorten the production period of bean paste from 30 days to 10-15 days and improve its quality.
    Scientists in the daily necessities sector selected various kinds of aromatic essence needed for soap. Basing themselves on this, they invented a method of making the rose and lilac-like perfume with less production cost.
    Plasticization scientists developed and introduced PVC heat adhesive into the production of ejected shoes. The heat adhesive lowers the production cost by 50 percent.
    Meanwhile, scientists in the textile clothing field have succeeded in manufacturing wooden shuttle and rubber picker with polyolefin resins and extending the durability of clothing equipment accessories by treatment of gas porosity nitration.

GNP Action against North under Fire

     Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) --The Grand National Party of south Korea was reported to have presented a "resolution urging the north to improve its human rights situation" to the "National Assembly" on November 27. A spokesman for the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland in a statement today bitterly condemned this action as it is aimed to slander and totally deny the ideology and system in the north, terming it an unpardonable move to escalate its confrontation with the north, pursuant to the U.S. hostile policy towards it, and a blatant challenge to the dignity and political system of the north.
    It is ridiculous for the GNP to say this or that about someone's human rights issue, oblivious of its position in which it should stand trial for being chief violator of human rights, the statement noted, and continued:
    It was none other than the "Liberal Party", the "Democratic Republican Party", the "Democratic Justice Party", the "Democratic Liberal Party" and "New Korea Party", predecessors of the GNP, that turned south Korea into a dark land under fascism while remaining in power for over 50 years.
    Yet, the GNP is showing exceptional zeal to execute the U.S. hostile policy toward the north, blowing the trumpet about its "human rights issue". This only clearly proves that the GNP is nothing but a waiting maid of the United States.
    The action taken by the GNP against the north is as dangerous a move as driving the inter-Korean relations to catastrophe and inviting a war, the statement warned.

S. Korean Authorities' Suppression of Labor Movement Organizations Flailed

     Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- The south Korean authorities are taking actions to severely punish the prime movers and active participants in the strike, terming the vigorous struggle waged by labor movement organizations for democratic freedom and rights and the right to existence in south Korea as an unlawful strike. A spokesman for the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea in a statement Friday bitterly condemned this fascist reactionary offensive against those organizations. Referring to the fact that the Government Employees Union staged a general strike to win the three rights of labor including the right to strike in all parts of south Korea for three days in November, the statement noted that other labor movement organizations including the Federation of (south) Korean Trade Unions are now actively joining the (south) Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and the Government Employees Union in their actions.
    The statement denounced the south Korean authorities for conducting a campaign of arrest after issuing warrants of arrest against members of the central leadership including the chairman of the union and heads of its branch offices and dismissing en masse public servants for their participation in the strike.
    It branded this crackdown as a crude violation of democracy as it infringes upon the internationally recognized democratic rights and the right to existence including the three rights of labor.
    It is a more serious crime than what was committed by any preceding dictators for the present authorities to suppress the labor movement, talking about the "changed times" after their seizure of power although they asserted the democratization of society and the three rights of labor in the past, the statement said, adding:
    It is a historical lesson proved by the miserable end of the past fascist dictatorial regimes in south Korea that those who are forsaken by the toiling masses are fated to go to ruin.
    The south Korean authorities should face up to the desire of the people and the trend of the times, immediately halt the suppression of labor movement organizations and meet their just demand without delay.

Kim Jong Il Enjoys Art Performance

     Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, enjoyed an art performance given by the State Symphony Orchestra. Also appreciating it were Secretaries of the WPK Central Committee Kim Kuk Thae and Kim Ki Nam, Chairman of the Radio and TV Broadcasting Committee of the DPRK Cha Sung Su, Department Director of the WPK Central Committee Ri Kwang Ho and First Vice Department Director of the WPK Central Committee Ri Jae Il.
    It put on the stage the newly created symphonic suite "Long Journey of Songun" and orchestral music "Rich Harvest Comes to the Chongsan Plain" and "Arirang."
    The performers fully represented the strong emotional effect of the orchestral music rich in national flavor through their unique rendition, thus strikingly demonstrating the validity and vitality of the WPK's literary and art policy of creating, arranging and depicting any art piece in Korean style.
    He congratulated the creators and artistes of the orchestra on their successful performance, greatly pleased with the presentation made by them with high artistry.
    He highly appreciated the successes made by them in the past, noting that they have developed the orchestral music to be Juche-oriented one which is loved by the people and contributes to the revolution by firmly adhering to the principle of developing it in Korean style to suit the sentiment of the Korean people.
    He said the State Symphony Orchestra with a long history is one which we can boast before the world for its stature, the quality of its musical instruments, the level of its representation and performing activities.

Logros cientificos contribuyentes a mejora de vida de pueblo

     Pyongyang, 3 de diciembre (ATCC) -- Los cientificos de la Academia de Ciencia de la Industria Ligera de Corea obtuvieron este ano los logros cientificos de valor que contribuyen a la mejora de la vida de los habitantes. Ellos profundizaron la investigacion para estandarizar el metodo de produccion de pasta de soya de optima calidad indispensable para la vida dietetica y asi obtuvieron bacilos fermentadores de pasta de soya con un efecto de descomposicion de proteina 1.5 veces mayor e instalaron tambien un proceso de producirlos en decenas de toneladas anuales.
    Adoptaron un nuevo metodo de produccion de pasta de soya mediante el cultivo simultaneo de las bacterias de pasta de soya, las lacticas y la levadura resistibles a la salinidad que permiten disminuir el plazo de produccion de 30 dias a 10-15, mejorando su calidad.
    Definieron los perfumes unitarios necesarios para la fabricacion de aromas mezcladas para jabon y sobre esta base completaron la receta cientifica de fabricacion de aromas mezcladas que satisfacen la demanda tecnologica con menor precio de costo.
    Desarrollaron un adhesivo termico de cloruro de polivinilo y lo aplicaron en la produccion de calzados moldeados por inyeccion. Este adhesivo rebaja el costo productivo en 50 por ciento y aumentar de 4 horas a mas de 15 dias la seguridad de su conservacion.

Editado Diccionario Ilustrado Ingles-Coreano

     Pyongyang, 3 de diciembre (ATCC) -- Recientemente, la Editora de Libros en Lenguas Extranjeras de Corea dio a luz el Diccionario Ilustrado Ingles-Coreano que permite a los jovenes y ninos escolares y otros trabajadores adquirir los conocimientos basicos ingleses con profunda imagen de los dibujos. El diccionario consta de la parte de vocablos, la de conversacion y el apendice. Y contiene los vocablos y frases que se usan en la vida diaria y los sectores de la cultura, ciencia y tecnica, politica, economia, asuntos militares, etc.
    La primera parte esta clasificada por orden alfabetico y la segunda, dividida en la conversacion basica y la practica.
    El apendice da conocimientos gramaticales y contiene cuentos de ninos, fabulas e historias, entre estos, "La liebre y tortuga", "El tigre en dibujo", "El pescador y su esposa" y "El principe Hodong y la princesa Rakrang" acompanados de sus ilustraciones asi como canciones revolucionarias, lugares historicos de la revolucion, reliquias historicas y refranes conocidos ampliamente entre el pueblo coreano.
