Day of UN South-South Cooperation Observed

     Pyongyang, December 19 (KCNA) -- Papers here Sunday observe the day of "UN south-south cooperation." It is the consistent stand of the DPRK government to strengthen and develop the south-south cooperation. The DPRK has steadily boosted the friendly and cooperative relations with other developing countries through this cooperation. Rodong Sinmun Sunday says this in a signed article.
    On December 23 last year the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution (58/220) on marking December 19 every year as the day of the "UN south-south cooperation". The theme of the day this year is the "Achievement of goal of development for millennium through south-south cooperation."
    Observing the day worldwide for the first time marks an important occasion in putting the south-south cooperation on a higher stage and demonstrating its vitality in the new century, the article notes, and continues:
    The south-south cooperation represents an international movement to help the peoples of the developing countries achieve economic emancipation and their sovereignty. This cooperation among these countries is a noble work to achieve self-support in economy by economically and technically cooperating with each other and meeting each other's need and the new international economic relations based on their common aspiration and interests.
    In order to reenergize the south-south cooperation and give full play to its vitality, it is important to properly lay down the principles to be adhered to in boosting the cooperation.
    The developing countries are called upon to make positive efforts to give momentum to this cooperation on the occasion of the day of "UN south-south cooperation."
    If the developing countries strengthen economic cooperation and swap valuable technology and experience by making an effective use of their economic potentials and possibilities, they can successfully build self-supporting national economies and achieve progress and prosperity of nations without relying upon western countries.
    In order to boost this cooperation it is most important to abide by the principle of collective self-reliance. The developing countries should make every possible effort to establish new south-south economic relations through the expansion and development of the south-south cooperation based on the collective self-reliance.
    It is necessary for them to sincerely implement the action programme for south-south cooperation and projects adopted at the NAM Summit held in Havana and earnestly seek new strategies and ways for south-south cooperation and put them into practice. Film Show Held in Russia

     Pyongyang, December 19 (KCNA) -- The United Confederation of Koreans in Maritime Territory of Russia held a film show on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's assumption of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army and the 87th birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk, anti-Japanese war hero. Present at the film show were Pak Phyong Won, chairman of the confederation, Koreans in the territory and an official of the DPRK Consulate General in Nakhodka.
    The participants watched a Korean film "The Brilliant History of the Great Leadership."

Kim Jong Il's Birthday to Be Celebrated in Pakistan

     Pyongyang, December 19 (KCNA) -- A preparatory committee for celebrating the February holiday, the birthday of leader Kim Jong Il, was formed with due ceremony in Lahore, Pakistan, on Dec. 11. Malik Mohammed Ali, former vice president of the Pakistani Senate, was elected honorary chairman of the preparatory committee and Mohammad Aslam Nagi, secretary general of the Lahore Branch of the Pakistan-Korea Friendship Association, chairman of the committee at the ceremony.
    The committee decided to organize colorful political and cultural functions from February 16 to April 15 in order to widely introduce the immortal feats performed by the three generals of Mt. Paektu and their personality as great persons and render sincere assistance to the construction of a monument to the three generals of Mt. Paektu on the occasion of the 60th anniversaries of the Workers' Party of Korea and the liberation of Korea.
    An appeal released there ardently called on the progressive people and organizations of the world to extend positive support to the proposal to erect the monument and hold a "meeting for praising the great persons of Mt. Paektu" and join the Korean people in significantly marking the days, noting it is a unanimous desire and noble moral duty of the world people to make the monument to the three generals shine long in history.
    On the same day a preparatory committee for the "meeting praising great persons of Mt. Paektu" was formed with members of the preparatory committee for celebrating the February holiday.
    The preparatory committee decided to make a deep study of the immortal feats performed by the three generals of Mt. Paektu and contribute stones on which their best wishes are carved to the erection of the monument.

U.S. Intensified Moves for Preemptive Nuclear Strike at DPRK under@Fire

     Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialist aggressors have frantically intensified aerial espionage against the DPRK and massively deployed ultra-modern military hardware in and around south Korea this year. According to information available, the U.S. imperialists committed at least 2,100 cases of aerial espionage against the DPRK for the last 11months of the year by mobilizing strategic and tactical reconnaissance planes with different missions.
    Most of the espionage committed this year was carried out by U-2 and overseas-based RC-135, E-3 and EP-3.
    They shipped into south Korea dozens of high-tech M1-A1 Abrams tanks and deployed them in the area near the Military Demarcation Line from the outset of the year. They additionally deployed ultra-modern long-distance striking means including B-52 in their bases for aggression around south Korea.
    In the wake of their deployment of more than 10 F-117 Stealth fighter-bombers in an air force base in Kunsan, south Korea after their participation in the "reception, staging, onward-movement and integration exercise" they brought two battalions of "PAC-3" to Kwangju, south Korea, from Texas State and B-52 and B-1 long-distance strategic bombers to Guam.
    They transferred a squadron of F-15E of the U.S. air force to south Korea from Alaska in the middle of September and deployed Aegis destroyers equipped with an ultra-modern missile system belonging to their 7th Fleet in the East Sea of Korea from October 1 to be ready to go into action. This is just a few examples of their massing of ultra-modern military hardware in south Korea and the areas around it.
    All these facts go to clearly prove that the U.S. loudmouthed "six-party talks" and "negotiated settlement of the nuclear issue" are nothing but a window-dressing to cover up its bellicose nature and it is, in actuality, stepping up its preparations for a nuclear war against the DPRK.

Film Show Held

     Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- A film show was held at the Chollima House of Culture in Pyongyang on Friday on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the DPRK and Austria. Present there were Vice Chairwoman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries Hong Son Ok, who is chairwoman of the DPRK-Austria Friendship Association, members of the association and working people in the city. Speeches were made there.
    Then the participants appreciated an Austrian feature film.

U.S. Termed Special Class War Criminal State

     Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- AP reported on December 3 that about 40 photographs showing soldiers of the U.S. naval special unit Seal abusing Iraqi prisoners were posted on Internet and all of them were distributed. The photographs show soldiers of the unit sitting on the handcuffed Iraqi prisoners, their heads wrapped up with dark scarves, or trampling down upon them with their jackboots.
    In this regard, Minju Joson Saturday says in a signed commentary:
    This is another undeniable evidence that the shuddering human rights abuses committed by the U.S. troops against the Iraqi prisoners were organized by the higher echelon of the U.S. troops.
    With nothing can the U.S. ever evade its responsibility for having organized and driven GIs to commit horrible massacres and hideous abuses worldwide.
    The human history records many wars, big and small, and atrocities committed by aggressors, but the intolerable shameful practices and monstrous massacres perpetrated by the GIs against civilians were something unprecedented. The U.S. troops massacred Koreans in a most brutal manner during the Korean war in the 1950s, leaving an indelible blot on the U.S. history.
    All the facts clearly prove that the U.S. is the worst graveyard of human rights and a special class human rights abuser in the present world.
    The U.S. has already revealed to the full its true colours as the principal enemy of human rights, the worst violator of human rights, before the justice of the world and conscience of humankind. This has completely deprived the U.S. of its moral right to say this or that about human rights.
    Now is the time to bring the U.S. to the international human rights court.
    The U.S. is well advised to behave itself, properly understanding its deplorable position in which its moral ruin is drawing near.

Joint Statement on Korean Issue Adopted

     Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- An international meeting on peoples' solidarity for peace and human rights was held in Kathmandu, Nepal, from Dec. 10 to 12 under the co-sponsorship of the Afro-Asian People's Solidarity Organization and the Afro-Asian People's Solidarity Committee of Nepal. Present at the meeting were at least 350 persons representing political parties and organizations of various countries including the DPRK, Nepal, India, Egypt, Bangladesh, Thailand, Bhutan, Britain and the United States and regional organizations.
    Speeches were made there on the issue of the Korean Peninsula, the nuclear issue, the Mideast issue, issues of democracy and human rights.
    Referring to the Korean issue, the speakers asserted that the peace and reunification of the peninsula should be achieved independently and peacefully by the Korean nation itself free from any foreign interference and this will be possible only when the U.S. troops are withdrawn from south Korea without delay.
    The meeting adopted the Kathmandu Declaration, a joint statement on the Korean issue and other documents.
    The Declaration denounced the foreign forces for increasing the tensions on the Korean Peninsula, holding that Korea should be reunified peacefully free from foreign interference and the U.S. forces driven out of the peninsula.
    The joint statement pointed out that the reality indicates the peace and reunification of Korea can never be achieved and there can be no peace and stability in Asia and the rest of the world as long as the U.S. hostile policy towards the DPRK goes on and the U.S. forces are present in south Korea.
    The statement called for making a tangible contribution to the "meeting for praising the great persons of Mt. Paektu" and the world conference supporting Korea's independent and peaceful reunification and, on this occasion, waging a worldwide movement for support and solidarity with the noble cause of peace and reunification of Songun Korea in various forms and by diverse methods.
    A ceremony of igniting candles of peace, a march for peace and a people's rally took place while the meeting was under way.

Function of Koreans in China Held

     Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- The General Association of Koreans in China held a meeting in Shenyang, China, on Dec. 13 to mark the 13th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's assumption of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army and the 87th birth anniversary of anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk. Yang Yong Dong, chairman of the association, in a report said that as the revolutionary armed forces are under the supreme commandership of Kim Jong Il the Korean revolution has firmly protected and carried forward the great tradition of the army of Mt. Paektu despite any test of history and the Korean people could greet the new era of the Songun revolution, the era for defending and glorifying the idea, system and cause of the DPRK, blessed with the illustrious leaders generation after generation.
    He appealed to the association and all Koreans in China to glorify the significant year of 2005, the 60th anniversaries of the Workers' Party of Korea and the liberation of the country and the fifth anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration as a year of a great festival of victors.
    A letter to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting.
    The association organized a seminar on the greatness of Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Suk in Shenyang, China, on Dec. 12.
    At the end of the seminar, the participants heard the recorded lecture titled "Comrade Kim Jong Suk, an anti-Japanese war hero, is a paragon of true revolutionaries who glorified her life with noble comradeship."

KCNA on Achievements in Capital Construction

     Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- The Korean Central News Agency issued a report Saturday in which it said that the army and people of the DPRK have made great achievements in capital construction over the last decade since leader Kim Jong Il held high the banner of Songun. The report says:
    In this period signal successes have been made in the overall construction including the building of monumental edifices for conveying the greatness of President Kim Il Sung and his revolutionary exploits down through generations and industrial construction.
    Epoch-making changes have taken place on this land even under the most difficult situation where the people had to make the "Arduous March," forced march and they were hard pressed for everything. This steadily added to the treasure of the country. It is the miracle unprecedented in the world history.
    A shining example was set in building monumental edifices and sprucing up revolutionary historic sites.
    Under the leadership of Kim Jong Il the army and people of the DPRK consecrated the Kumsusan Assembly Hall where the President worked as a memorial palace at the highest level where he lies in state for perpetuity.
    Kim Il Sung's statues and monuments to his revolutionary history were erected in every place associated with his giant footprints. The area of Mt. Paektu and various other revolutionary battle sites and historic sites have turned into centres for effective education of people in the revolutionary traditions.
    The might of Songun Korea was strikingly manifested in the overall construction including the industrial construction.
    The construction of production units such as factories and power stations that will contribute to boosting modern economic potential has made rapid progress. As a result, at least 49,500 new industrial establishments have started their operation.
    In hearty response to the order of Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il, servicepersons of the Korean People's Army built the Anbyon Youth Power Station. The construction of large hydraulic power stations including Thaechon Power Station No. 3 was accelerated in various parts of the country. Many minor power stations have appeared in various places, more than doubling the generating capacity of the minor power stations of the country as compared with that in Juche 84 (1995).
    A lot of light industrial factories were built or updated. They include the Sinuiju Cosmetics Factory, the Taedonggang Beer Factory, the Potato Starch Factory under the Taehongdan County Agricultural Management Committee, the Instant Noodle Factory, the Sanitary Goods Factory, the Taedonggang Syringe Factory.
    There have appeared modern chicken farms, fish farms and stock farms to greatly contribute to improving the people's living standard.
    There have sprung up many fish-breeding centers to make the fish-breeding brisk. As a result, the area under fish cultivation has grown more than 5 times and the production of fresh water fish more than 7 times that in Juche 84 (1995). Many large stock-farms and co-op farms specializing in stock-raising have appeared. The production of goat milk has more than trebled as compared with that in Juche 84 (1995).
    Salterns including the Kwangmyongsong Saltern and the Wonsan Bay Saltern, the first of their kinds in the nation's history, were built on the east coast of Korea.
    A large number of modern dwelling houses have been built in urban and rural areas to provide the people with more comfortable and highly civilized living conditions.
    Pyongyang has been spruced up as required by the new century and the rural villages have turned into a socialist land of bliss.
    New houses for more than 458,000 families have appeared and at least 1,600 new villages taking the country as a whole. They include modern houses of peculiar architectural style for more than 3,580 families built in Samjiyon County Township, a new city in the forest at the foot of Mt. Paektu.
    Gigantic land realignment project for the prosperity of generations to come has been carried out. As a result, more than 284,000 hectares of paddy and dry fields have been realigned into those of standardized shapes as of the end of March Juche 93 (2004) taking the country as a whole. Waterway projects have been pushed forward to form the irrigation networks extending at least 400 kms on the west coast.
    The servicepersons and people wound up the Kaechon-Lake Thaesong Waterway Project, the great nature-driven waterway of Korean style, in a matter of a little over two years and declared its commissioning in October Juche 91 (2002).
    While making the "Arduous March," the Korean people established an 40-odd km-long circular irrigation system in December Juche 84 (1995) under which the West Sea Barrage-Sinchon and Pyoksong waterways are connected with Kangryong County. In Juche 85 (1996) they completed the second-phase project of a 64-odd km-long waterway project to water orchards.
    The over 40 km-long modern Youth Hero Motorway linking Pyongyang to Nampho was completed in a matter of less than two years, demonstrating the heroic stamina and the indomitable fighting spirit of the Korean youth.
    More roads were paved for study tour of the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt. Paektu and courses for tourists have been built in Mt. Chilbo, a famous mountain on the east coast of the country, to match its scenic beauty.
    This period witnessed the construction of modern Chongryu Bridge and Kumrung Tunnel No. 2 and major arterial roads such as Pyongyang-Hyangsan Tourist Road and roads linking counties to ris and those leading to revolutionary battle sites and scenic spots, which extend hundreds of kilometers.
    These monumental edifices are eternal treasures for the country's prosperity and people's happiness and precious ideological and material boon to building a great prosperous powerful socialist nation, the report said, stressing that these epoch-making changes are a clear proof of the validity and the tremendous vitality of the Songun politics and the Songun revolutionary leadership of Kim Jong Il who has successfully carried forward the President's unique Songun revolutionary idea.

GNP's "Political Coloring" Offensive under Fire

     Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Family Movement for Realizing Democracy reportedly held a rally in front of the building of Kukmin Bank in Youido, Seoul, on Dec. 9 to denounce the Grand National Party of south Korea. A statement read out at the rally branded the spy case of a national assemblyman cooked up by the GNP as a shameful witch-hunt to keep the "National Security Law (NSL)" at any cost, warning that if this evil law is not abolished due to the case, it will mean a crude violation of social democracy and human rights.
    The GNP's act of kicking up without hesitation a ridiculous fuss about "political coloring" in a bid to keep the NSL reveals how this political camp is abusing it, the statement noted.
    Meanwhile, members of the Hunger-Strike Group of the People's Solidarity for Abolition of the "NSL" of south Korea held a press conference in front of the building of the GNP on Dec. 13 in protest against the "political coloring offensive" conducted by this traitorous party.
    Released there was a press release entitled "Dissolve the GNP Keen on the Anachronistic Political Coloring Offensive."
    It called on all the people to turn out to throw into the grave of history the GNP making desperate efforts to keep the NSL.

Total Repeal of NSL Demanded by Koreans in U.S.

     Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- The Federation of Koreans in the U.S., the Federation for Independence, Democracy and Reunification in America, the Overseas Headquarters of the Joint Secretariat of the Nationwide Special Committee for Probing the Truth behind the GIs' Massacres, a forum for Korea's reunification and other Koreans' organizations in the U.S. reportedly made public a joint statement on Dec. 4 demanding the total abolition of the "National Security Law (NSL)" in south Korea. The successive flunkeyist and traitorous forces have cracked down upon many patriots and infringed upon the rights and freedom of overseas Koreans for the past 56 years after the fabrication of the NSL, the statement said, repeatedly urging the south Korean "National Assembly" to scrap the NSL within this year without fail.

     Pyongyang, 18 de diciembre (ATCC) -- El Dirigente Kim Jong Il, Secretario General del Partido del Trabajo de Corea, Presidente del Comite de Defensa Nacional de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea y Comandante Supremo del Ejercito Popular de Corea, inspecciono la Unidad No. 448 del EPC que ostenta el titulo de septimo regimiento de O Jung Hup. Esta Unidad, al desarrollar con dinamismo el movimiento por la obtencion del titulo del citado septimo regimiento, crecio como un destacamento de fidelidad que defiende a costa de la vida a la Direccion de la Revolucion, hizo mas perfectos los preparativos combativos, fortalecio la combatividad y logro una innovacion colectiva en el cumplimiento del deber.
    El Comandante Supremo recorrio la sala de presentacion del historial, se entero del estado de la labor ideologica en la sala de leccion general y presencio una leccion tecnica de los militares.
    Se mostro muy satisfecho de que los militares de la Unidad, bien conscientes de que la valiosa vida y proezas del soldado se hacen realidad a traves de los ejercicios, se esfuerzan activamente por elevar sin cesar la capacidad combativa y el nivel tecnico.

Kim Jong Il envia ofrenda floral ante feretro de difunta Thae Son Hui

     Pyongyang, 18 de diciembre (ATCC) ? El Comandante Supremo Kim Jong Il envio el dia 17 una ofrenda floral ante el feretro de la difunta Thae Son Hui, diputada a la Asamblea Popular Suprema de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, heroina de la Republica y general del Ejercito Popular de Corea, en senal de profundo pesame por su fallecimiento. Thae fallecio el dia 16 a los 76 anos de edad por una enfermedad.
    Ella combatio valientemente como pilota en el periodo de la Guerra de Liberacion de la Patria (1950-1953) contra la invasion armada de los imperialistas yanquis y dedico todo lo suyo a la direccion del Partido del Trabajo de Corea sobre la revolucion mediante el Songun en varios sectores del EPC.

Maniobras de EE.UU. para ataque preventivo nuclear a RPDC

     Pyongyang, 18 de diciembre (ATCC) -- Este ano tambien los agresores norteamericanos se entregaron a espionajes aereos contra la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea e introdujeron en el Sur de Corea y su contorno gran numero de armamentos de punta. Segun una estadistica recogida durante los 11 meses del ano en curso, los efectivos yanquis cometieron mas de 2 mil cien espionajes aereos contra la RPDC mediante la movilizacion de aviones de reconocimiento estrategicos y tacticos de diversas misiones. En particular, es mayor el numero de espionajes por "U-2", "RC-135", "E-3", " EP-3" con bases en ultramar.
    Desde principios de enero de este ano los yanquis ubicaron cerca de la Linea de Demarcacion Militar de la parte surcoreana decenas de tanques "M1-A1 Abrams" renovados por tecnologia sofisticada, mientras aumentaron en las bases agresivas en alrededores del Sur de Corea los bombarderos estrategicos "B-52" y otros ultramodernos medios de golpe a largo alcance.
    Por otra parte, colocaron en la base de fuerza aerea de Kunsan mas de 10 caza-bombarderos Stealth "F-117" movilizados en el "ejercicio conjunto de refuerzo en el tiempo de guerra" y trasladaron a Kwangju del Sur de Corea dos batallones de misiles "Patriot" desplegados en el Estado de Texas de EE.UU. y en la isla Guam los bombarderos "B-52" y " B-1".
    A mediados de septiembre trasladaron de Alaska al Sur de Corea un batallon de caza-bombarderos "F-15E" de la fuerza aerea estadounidense y a partir del primero de octubre ubicaron para la guerra real cerca del mar Este de Corea los destructores "Aegis" de la septima flotilla estadounidense dispuestos del sistema de misiles de ultimo tipo, de esta manera introdujeron un sinnumero de armamentos sofisticados en el Sur de Corea y sus alrededores.
    Todos los hechos demuestran a las claras que las "conversaciones a seis bandas", la "solucion del problema nuclear por negociaciones" de que habla EE.UU. no pasan de ser un velo para encubrir su naturaleza belicosa y que, de hecho, el Tio Sam da mas acicate a la preparacion de una guerra nuclear contra la RPDC.

Actos en varios paises por efemerides de Corea

     Pyongyang, 18 de diciembre (ATCC) -- Con motivo del 13 aniversario del nombramiento del Dirigente Kim Jong Il como Comandante Supremo del Ejercito Popular de Corea y del 87o aniversario del nacimiento de la heroina de lucha antijaponesa Kim Jong Suk, tuvieron lugar el dia 10 en el Peru sesiones de lectura y proyecciones filmicas en las cuales se proyectaron "Fila de acero, el Ejercito Popular de Corea" y otros documentales coreanos que demuestran el poderio invencible de este. En el circulo de lectura, el presidente del Instituto Peruano de Amistad General Kim Jong Il, Jose Antonio Gamarra Puertas, y el titular del Instituto Cultural y de Amistad Peruano-Coreano, Angel Castro Lavarello, senalaron que gracias a la politica de Songun del Comandante Supremo Kim Jong Il, en Corea se han fortalecido incomparablemente la posicion y el papel del ejercito y la causa del socialismo coreano esta garantizada en lo militar.
    Apuntaron que aunque la vida de la heroina Kim Jong Suk era corta, pero, al margen de ella no pueden pensar en Corea de hoy y elogiaron altamente las inmortales hazanas de la heroina.
    Mientras tanto, en el Congo Democratico e Indonesia tuvieron lugar los dias 9 y 10 conferencias y proyecciones filmicas en ocasion del 13 aniversario del nombramiento del Dirigente como Comandante Supremo del EPC.
    En las proyecciones filmicas se proyectaron "Para tener en gran estima al Lider paternal", "Grandes cambios" y otros documentales coreanos.
    En Mexico se efectuaron el dia 11 un simposio sobre la politica de Songun, proyeccion filmica y exhibicion de fotos por la misma efemeride y por motivo de cumplirse los 10 anos desde cuando el Dirigente inicio la citada politica.
