Preparatory Committees Inaugurated in China

     Pyongyang, January 11 (KCNA) -- The General Association of Koreans in China and the Youth Federation of Korean Nationals in China inaugurated preparatory committees for celebrating the birthday of leader Kim Jong Il, which falls on February 16, with due ceremonies in Shenyang, China, on Jan. 3. Chairmen and members of the committees were elected at the ceremonies.
    The preparatory committees decided to organize various colourful functions to celebrate the birthday of Kim Jong Il as the greatest auspicious holiday of the nation.

All Koreans Called upon to Remain True to Idea of "By Our Nation Itself"

     Pyongyang, January 11 (KCNA) -- The idea of "By our nation itself" is the idea guiding the movement for Korea's reunification in the 21st century, the idea set out by leader Kim Jong Il. Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says this in a signed article. It goes on:
    The idea serves as a beacon and a banner of struggle leading the 70 million Koreans to reunification and patriotism.
    It is, in name and reality, the idea of national independence.
    It represents the idea of strong self-determination of Koreans to achieve national reunification by their own efforts.
    It is a right and due obligation of the Koreans to independently wage the struggle to retake the national sovereignty in line with their desire and interests as masters. The idea precisely means the idea of national independence.
    It also means the idea of peaceful reunification.
    The idea of "By our nation itself" represents the noble patriotic spirit of the fellow countrymen to remove the dark clouds of a war hanging over the country by their concerted efforts and hand down the reunified prosperous peaceful country to posterity. It is the idea of patriotism as it helps the Koreans, who are more interested in the peace and security of the country than any others, pool efforts to create a peaceful atmosphere on the Korean Peninsula.
    The idea also means the idea of great national unity as it unites the members of the nation in one mind.
    There is nothing impossible for the Koreans when they go united as they, as a homogenous nation, have developed the brilliant cultural tradition with one and the same language throughout its history spanning 5,000 years. The idea of "By our nation itself" serves as a banner of such unity.
    This year all the Koreans in the north, the south and overseas should wage a vigorous struggle to realize the three forms of cooperation?cooperation for national independence, cooperation for peace against war and cooperation for reunification and patriotism--guided by the idea.

Russian Ambassador Hosts Reception

     Pyongyang, January 11 (KCNA) -- Andrei Karlov, Russian ambassador to the DPRK, hosted a reception in honor of officials of the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces on Monday evening at the embassy on the occasion of the New Year Juche 94 (2005). Present on invitation were Kim Sang Ik, vice-minister of the People's Armed Forces, and generals and officers of the Korean People's Army.
    Staff members of the embassy were present there.

Songun Policy of Kim Jong Il Praised

     Pyongyang, January 11 (KCNA) -- The Songun policy of leader Kim Jong Il is a great policy supported by all the progressive people worldwide and its might is getting more pronounced with the flow of time. Speakers said this at the seminar held by the Romanian Working Party on Jan. 4 on the subject "Songun policy of H.E. Kim Jong Il is ever-victorious treasured sword."
    Noting that the world progressive people were watching with envy the people of the DPRK vigorously advancing under his Songun policy, they called upon all the party members to deeply study the policy and apply it to the party activities.
    Reviewing the keynote of the joint New Year editorial in the DPRK, they stated that the party would launch into energetic activities to support the Korean people in their struggle to achieve the reunification of the country.

S. Korean Organizations Vow to Make 2005 Year of Reunification

     Pyongyang, January 11 (KCNA) -- Members of the Democratic Workers' Party, the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification, the Confederation of Trade Unions and pro-reunification organizations and civic and public organizations of south Korea reportedly held a New Year meeting in Seoul on January 5 and decided to conduct a dynamic movement for independent reunification. The speakers at the meeting denounced the Uri Party for its perfidy to the people and its failure to scrap the "National Security Law" and called for an intensified fight for the repeal of the NSL and the pullout of the U.S. troops from south Korea to make this the year of independent reunification.
    Meanwhile, Hwang Son, deputy spokesperson for the Reunification Solidarity of south Korea, in a commentary headlined "National cooperation, key to victory in 2005" on January 4 called upon all the people to actively seek national cooperation in an effort to make this year, in which fall the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the country and the fifth anniversary of the publication of the south-north joint declaration, the year of independent reunification, the year of a turn.

Ten Best Taekwon-Do Players Selected in DPRK

     Pyongyang, January 11 (KCNA) -- Ten best Taekwon-Do players for Juche 93 (2004) were selected in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. They are Sa Ok Jin, Sin Yong Hye, Mun Hyok, Paek Kwang Ho, Ri Chol Ok, Pak Kwang Yong, Kim Yong Ok, Pak Jin Myong, Jegal Un and Jong Hae Ryon.
    The first seven players proved successful in individual pattern, sparring and demonstration events and team pattern event of the 6th World Junior Taekwon-Do Championships.
    The last three placed first in individual pattern and sparring matches at the first International Martial Arts Games held last Septemter.

Unity in Mind, Guarantee for Victory in General Onward March

     Pyongyang, January 11 (KCNA) -- It is the unswerving will of the Workers' Party of Korea and the government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to consolidate the unity in mind, the foundation of the Korean revolution, in every way. In an interview with KCNA, Curator of the Korean Revolution Museum Hwang Sun Hui, an anti-Japanese revolutionary fighter, said that the joint New Year editorial calls for demonstrating the political and ideological might of the revolutionary ranks in which all the army and people are united as one in mind around the headquarters of the revolution.
    Unity in mind is an invincible sword to firmly guarantee the victory of the general onward march for the Songun revolution this year, she said, and went on:
    The army and people of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are united in ideology and will and in the sense of morality and obligation behind leader Kim Jong Il on the basis of the Juche-oriented Songun revolutionary idea. It contains all the beautiful and noble things of human world such as affection, loyalty, confidence and obligation.
    It is more powerful than a nuclear weapon and nothing can break this unity.
    The Korean people have won victories in each stage of the revolutionary development with the might of this unity.
    In particular, the "Arduous March" and the forced march eloquently proved the might of the WPK's unity in mind. During the marches, the leader and the people went through all difficulties, the former trusting in the latter and the latter following the former.
    The Korean people's unity is on a higher stage in the era of the Songun politics.
    The Party, army and people have achieved a perfect harmony in the spirit of defending the headquarters of revolution at the cost of their lives and the whole society lives and works with the same idea and stamina with the army as the pillar of the revolution. Working People Vow to Effect Decisive Turn in Building Prosperous Nation

     Pyongyang, January 11 (KCNA) -- Korean working people held mass rallies in provinces at which they expressed their unshakable determination to effect a great surge in Songun revolution and bring about a decisive turn in building a great prosperous powerful nation this significant year. At the mass rallies held in South Hwanghae Province, South Hamgyong Province, Ryanggang Province and North Hamgyong Province on Jan. 9 and 10, speakers underscored the need to concentrate all efforts on boosting agricultural production this year and for such fields as power, coal and metal industries and railway transportation to take the lead in effecting a great surge.
    Speakers at the mass rally held in South Hwanghae Province called for thoroughly implementing the policies of agricultural revolution of the Workers' Party of Korea including the policy of bringing about a signal turn in seed improvement, the policy of cultivating two crops a year, the policy of bringing about a signal turn in potato farming and the policy of successfully growing bean the validity of which has been proved in practice.
    Speakers at the mass rally in South Hamgyong Province referred to such issues as stepping up the construction of the Kumya-gang Power Station and moving up the date of its operation, drastically increasing the output of coal and ores in Sudong and Tanchon areas and boosting the output of chemical products such as chemical fertilizers at the factories and enterprises in Hungnam area.
    Speakers at the mass rally in Ryanggang Province underlined the need for the province to spruce up revolutionary battle sites and historic sites in the province including the area of Mt. Paektu and keep taking the van in implementing the party's policy of bringing a dramatic turn in potato farming.
    Speakers at the mass rally in North Hamgyong Province called for putting the production of iron and steel and concentrated iron ore on a steady footing at the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, the Songjin Steel Complex and the Musan Mining Complex and boosting the production of ordered equipment at the Ranam Coal Mining Machine Complex.

     Pyongyang, 11 de enero (ATCC) -- La politica de Songun (priorizacion militar) de Su Excelencia Kim Jong Il es una gran politica que goza del apoyo de todos los pueblos progresistas del mundo y su poderio se pone de pleno manifiesto con el paso del tiempo. Senalaron asi los oradores en el simposio intitulado "La politica de Songun de Su Excelencia Kim Jong Il es un invencible remedio omnipotente" auspiciado el dia 4 por el Partido de Trabajadores de Rumania (PTR).
    Mencionaron que los pueblos progresistas del mundo admiran al pueblo coreano que avanza a pasos firmes en pleno acato a la politica de Songun y apuntaron que todos los militantes del PTR deben estudiarla profundamente y materializarla en las actividades del partido.

    La garantia segura de las victorias consecutivas en la marcha general por la revolucion segun el Songun es precisamente la unidad monolitica.
    Se trata de la inquebrantable unidad ideo-volitiva y moral del ejercito y el pueblo lograda en torno al Dirigente Kim Jong Il a base de la autoctona idea de la revolucion del Songun. Trabajadores coreanos juran producir este ano un viraje decisivo

     Pyongyang, 11 de enero (ATCC) -- Tuvieron lugar los dias 9 y 10 mitines de los habitantes de las provincias de Hwanghae del Sur, Ryanggang, Hamgyong del Sur y del Norte de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea para tomar la decision de producir este ano significativo un viraje decisivo en la construccion de una gran potencia prospera con un gran auge en la revolucion del Songun (priorizacion militar). En estos conclaves se dio enfasis en que se debe centrar y movilizar todas las fuerzas a labrar bien este ano la tierra y en que los sectores de la generacion electrica, la produccion carbonifera y metalurgica y el transporte ferroviario han de situarse al frente de la lucha por producir un gran auge.
    En la provincia de Hwanghae del Sur, los oradores senalaron que se debe materializar consecuente e incondicionalmente todos los lineamientos del Partido del Trabajo de Corea en materia de la revolucion agricola, inclusive los de semillas, dos cosechas al ano, el cultivo de patatas y soyas, cuya justeza fue comprobada a traves de la practica.
    De otro lado, en la provincia de Hamgyong del Sur, los oradores indicaron la necesidad de acelerar la construccion de la planta hidroelectrica Kumyagang para adelantar su inauguracion, aumentar decisivamente la produccion de carbon y minerales en las regiones de Sudong y Tanchon y revitalizar la produccion de fertilizantes quimicos y otros articulos quimicos en las fabricas y empresas de la region de Hungnam.
    Mientras tanto, en la provincia de Ryanggang, quienes accedieron al microfono subrayaron que se debe acondicionar mejor los antiguos campos de batalla revolucionaria y los lugares historicos de la revolucion en esta provincia, incluida la zona del monte Paektu, y seguir siendo abanderados en la ejecucion de la orientacion del partido de producir una revolucion en el cultivo de patatas.
    Por ultimo, en la provincia de Hamgyong del Norte, fueron indicadas las tareas para el Complejo Siderurgico de Kim Chaek, el Complejo de Acero de Songjin y el Complejo Minero de Musan de normalizar en un alto nivel la produccion de materiales de hierro y acero y minerales concentrados de hierro y la tarea para el Complejo de Maquinaria Carbonera de Ranam de aumentar la produccion de los equipos pedidos.
