Korean People's Drive to Fulfill Tasks Laid Down in Joint Editorial Supported

     Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- We believe that political tasks of the Workers' Party of Korea set forth in the joint New Year editorial would successfully be carried out under the leadership of Kim Jong Il and fully support the Korean people in their efforts to implement them. Otete Gaston Mboyo, chairman of the National Committee of the Genuine Lumumbist Patriotic Party of Democratic Congo who is chairman of the Democratic Congo-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Association, said this in a statement on Jan. 5 in support of the joint New Year editorial published by the newspapers of the WPK, the army and the youth league of the DPRK.
    This year, too, the Korean people will bring about a radical turn in the struggle to defend and glorify socialism, pursuant to the Songun revolutionary line, under the correct guidance of the WPK, he noted, and continued:
    The last instructions of President Kim Il Sung for national reunification are being successfully implemented thanks to Kim Jong Il. He provided the north-south summit which resulted in the adoption and publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, the first of their kind in the history of national division. These are his great exploits to remain shining forever in the history of the movement for Korean reunification.
    There will be a bright prospect of accomplishing the cause of Korean reunification only when the Korean people hold aloft the flag of cooperation for national independence, cooperation for peace against war and cooperation for reunification and patriotism put up in the joint editorial.

DPRK Acrobats Win Top Prize

     Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- A golden prize, the top prize, and a medal of the Italian parliament were awarded to "Board and Swing", an acrobatic piece put on the stage by acrobats of the DPRK at the 21st Rome International Acrobatic Festival held in Italy from December 26 last year to January 9 this year. A Rome Cup went to "Cylinder Rolling" and a medal of the Italian government to "Rope Skipping," both presented by DPRK acrobats.
    The festival drew excellent acrobats from various countries including the DPRK, China, Russia, Italy, France, Gabon, Belarus and Netherlands.
    The chief producer of the organizing committee of the festival said that Korean acrobatics is flawless in technique and artistry, adding that it is the best and on the highest level in the world.
    The vice-chairman of the Chinese Acrobats Association who was heading the Shanghai acrobatic group said that DPRK acrobatics is so peculiar that the kind of which is hardly be found in any other country, adding that he would like to let citizens of Shanghai watch it.
    A Russian movie director and writer said that DPRK acrobats have gripped the hearts of the spectators for their high technique and optimism. She noted she has never known that there is such wonderful acrobatics in the world.

Rally Held in S. Korea to Declare 2005 as Year of U.S. Troop Pullout

     Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- A rally declaring 2005 as the year of the U.S. troops' pullout was reportedly held in front of the U.S. embassy in Seoul on January 8 under the sponsorship of the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration. A resolution read out at the rally said that the division can be terminated, the threat of war removed and the independent reunification of the Korean Peninsula achieved only when the south and the north form a south-north joint measure committee for the withdrawal of the U.S. troops and the 70 million fellow countrymen struggle in unity.
    A rally of the Seoul District Federation of University Student Councils was held on the same day in front of the U.S. embassy to vow to wage an all-out struggle against the U.S. and war.

Agricultural Workers Challenged to Socialist Emulation

     Hwangju, January 12 (KCNA) -- The agricultural workers of the Kupho Co-op Farm in Hwangju County, North Hwanghae Province, challenged all the agricultural workers across the country to a socialist emulation of loyalty to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea to bring a dramatic turn in farming this year. The DPRK designated the agricultural front as the main front in socialist economic construction this year and called for concentrating and mobilizing all the forces in doing farming well.
    A rally of agricultural workers for proposing the socialist emulation was held on the farm on Jan. 12, at which they underscored the need to thoroughly implement the WPK's policy of agricultural revolution and thus markedly increase agricultural production.
    To this end, they said, high-yielding strains of crops suitable to the features of plots should be extensively sown, advanced farming methods be actively introduced and the area under soy bean be lifted 20 percent above last year.
    They called for distributing work force rationally and launching brisk socialist emulations between work teams and sub-work teams so that furious flames of collective innovation may sweep the whole farms and noticeable results be achieved not only in grain production but in the production of vegetables, meat and fruits.

Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration Called for

     Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- The joint New Year editorial earnestly called upon all the Koreans in the north, the south and abroad to bring about a new phase in the cause of the country's reunification under the uplifted banner of the June 15 joint declaration this year. Rodong Sinmun Thursday in a signed article carried in this regard says this reflects the unanimous desire and will of the whole Korean nation to achieve a final victory in the cause of reunification in the near future by invariably upholding the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration as a milestone for the country's reunification and energetically pushing ahead with the work to implement the joint declaration by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation.

This is the lesson taught by the 60-year-long history of the fierce struggle waged against the outside forces that have been hell-bent on all sorts of vicious separatist moves to fish in troubled waters in the confrontation between the north and the south, displeased with any movement for Korea's reunification.
    In the June 15 joint declaration the north and the south of Korea recognized common points in the north-proposed low-level federation and the south-proposed confederation and agreed to work for reunification in that direction. This indicates the way of settling the issue of the country's reunification peacefully and most smoothly by the concerted efforts of the Koreans.
    The joint declaration also paves a wide avenue for accomplishing the cause of reunification as it comprehensively deals with all matters of achieving national reconciliation and unity and the country's reunification including the need to implement multi-faceted cooperation and exchange between the north and the south, ensure a balanced development of national economy and build mutual confidence.
    All the fellow countrymen in the north, the south and overseas should give further spurs to the work to implement the declaration this year as they are called upon to do so in the editorial and thus glorify the era of independence and reunification.

Aggressive Nature of U.S. "War on Terrorism" Assailed

     Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- The United States tries to justify its "war on terrorism" as an "international contribution" to "freedom, democracy and peace", but its aggressive and reactionary nature can never be concealed.
    Rodong Sinmun Thursday says this in an article dealing with the aggressive nature of the "war" and its catastrophic consequences.
    The article goes on:
    After occupying Iraq in 2003, the U.S. directed the spearhead of its "anti-terrorist strategy" to those countries designated as an "axis of evil" and established an American-style order of military rule in Iraq last year.
    After working out a scenario to launch operations against the DPRK and Iran it staged full-scale operations for its implementation from the beginning of that year.
    The vicious offensive staged by the U.S. against the DPRK and Iran last year was a wanton violation of their sovereignty, a state-sponsored terrorism perpetrated as part of its "war on terrorism". The rumors about "Limit to the north Korean nuclear development" and "October crisis in Iran" spread by the U.S. last year were a premeditated move intended to attack one of the two countries depending on an international environment to be created and military preparations to be rounded off.
    Reorganization and redeployment of the U.S. forces and moves to lay a nmilitary siege to the world last year were one of the two major factors of the U.S. "anti-terrorist military operation". The reorganization and redeployment of the overseas-based U.S. forces were nothing but moves to lay a military siege around Eurasia and put military pressure on big powers.
    The Bush war-like forces ran amuck to put waters and skies under their control and contain other countries under the plea of "non-proliferation".
    Meanwhile, they pressurized other countries not to have any economic and trade dealing with those countries the U.S. listed as "enemy states" and took disciplinary actions against countries and private business groups refusing to meet their demand, thus bringing huge economic losses to them.
    They undisguisedly intervened in other countries' internal affairs in a bid to realize regime change, destabilize and split society in those countries and force them to change their systems.
    The aggressive foreign policy pursued by the U.S. under the pretext of "combating terrorism" last year was an outrageous violation of freedom, democracy and human rights. Such being hard facts, the U.S. bellicose forces justified the escalation of the "war on terrorism" as "spread of democracy".
    Last year the U.S. escalated "war of terrorism" triggered off tragedies in different parts of the world while increasing the danger of a new Cold War and driving the world to an unprecedented unrest. These facts more clearly proved the injustice and criminal nature of the U.S. "war on terrorism".
    This "war" was an illegal action contrary to the UN Charter and international law. It was a revelation of the U.S. attempt to retain its supremacy and American-style super-powerism aimed at building a unipolar world dominated by it.

Workers Vow to Take Van in Upsurge of Songun Revolution

     Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- Workers in the fields of power, coal and metal industries and railway transport of the DPRK swore to take the lead in effecting a great upswing in the Songun revolution in response to the joint New Year editorial.
    This vow was voiced at rallies of the employees of factories and enterprises in the above domains held to carry out up to the hilt the militant tasks laid down in the joint editorial this year.

Scientists Out to Fulfill New Year's Tasks

     Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- The scientists of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, in response to the joint New Year editorial of the newspapers Rodong Sinmun, Josoninmingun and Chongnyonjonwi, are intensifying research for production increase and economic development. President of the Academy of Sciences Pyon Yong Rip, in an interview with KCNA, said that the scientists and technicians of the country are full of resolution to give a powerful stimulus to a great surge for the Songun revolution by considerably raising their role in accordance with the present demand of the development of the economic science and technology in the 21st century.
    Officials and scientists of the Academy of Agricultural Science are making efforts to fully support agriculture, the main front of socialist economic construction this year, with science and technology, he said, and continued:
    While concentrating all efforts on the introduction of the scientific farming methods to radically increase the grain production, they have already finished preparations for a regular commanding system necessary for scientific farming throughout the country.

     Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- The people of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are all out to effect a new great upsurge in all sectors of socialist construction and thus to celebrate the 60th anniversaries of the Workers' Party of Korea and the country's liberation as grand festivals of victors. This upsurge is a new mode of general onward march suitable for the Songun era, which reflects the revolutionary soldier spirit and the demand for the development of economic science and technology in the 21st century.
    In the postwar days the Korean people made a leaping development in the revolution and construction by effecting a great upsurge in the Chollima spirit.
    It was the spirit of trusting in and following the WPK and the leader and carrying the intention of the Party and leader into practice unconditionally in any adversity; the spirit of self-reliance and hard working with which they bravely went through any difficulties and trials with their own efforts, and the patriotic spirit for building a rich and strong socialist country by making continued innovation and uninterrupted advance in the speed of Chollima.

    In recent years the Korean people, under the great banner of Songun, have achieved a rapid development in the fields of science and technology including IT, constructed many modern factories, large-size hydro-power stations and carried out land rezoning and waterway projects which would take scores of years. U.S. Impedes Peace, Independent Reunification of Korea

     Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- The joint New Year editorial released by major newspapers of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea calls on all the Koreans to launch a powerful struggle for peace against war in order to drive U.S. troops out of south Korea, remove the very source of a nuclear war and preserve peace and security on the Korean peninsula. Owing to the U.S. imperialists' arms buildup, interference and obstruction, peace, security and independent reunification of Korea are faced with serious difficulties.
    They have hampered the Koreans' efforts for the country's independent reunification, trying hard to unleash another war in Korea.
    In February last year they worked out "New Operation Plan 5026" and examined its feasibility and in August mapped out "Operation Plan 5027-04", a detailed war plan against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
    They also brought a large number of "Striker" armored cars, "Shadow 200" pilotless tactical aircraft, "M1-Abrams" tanks and other up-to-date weapons and military equipment to south Korea.
    Meanwhile, they staged such anti-DPRK military maneuvers as "Reception, Staging, Onward-movement and Integration", "Foal Eagle" and "Ulji-focus lens-04".
    They have also incited confrontation between the two halves of the peninsula, openly interfering in and obstructing inter-Korean economic cooperation.
    From the beginning of last year they have put pressure upon the south Korean authorities to suit the improvement of north-south relations to progress in the nuclear issue between the DPRK and the U.S. Worse still, they have tried hard to foil the Kaesong Industrial Zone project.
    As long as they keep their troops in south Korea and, with it as a base, pursue the anti-DPRK policy, the Korean nation's desire for reunification and prosperity can never be realized.
    Korea can be reunified only when all the Korean people pool efforts to have U.S. troops withdrawn from south Korea and check the U.S. interference in internal affairs of the nation.

Gifts to Kim Jong Il from U.S. Congress Delegation

     Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il was presented with a gift by the U.S. Congress delegation on a visit to the DPRK. Curt Weldon, vice-chairman of the Armed Services Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives who is leading the delegation, Thursday handed the gift over to Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly.

     Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met with the U.S. Congress delegation headed by Curt Weldon, vice-chairman of the Armed Services Committee of its House of Representatives, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall Thursday. U.S. Congressmen Tour Various Parts of Pyongyang

     Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- The U.S. delegation of Congressmen led by Curt Weldon, vice-chairman of the Armed Services Committee of the House of Representatives, has toured various parts of Pyongyang since its arrival in the city on Jan. 11. The delegation visited the Tower of the Juche Idea, Kim Il Sung University and the Pyongyang Metro Thursday in the wake of its sightseeing tour Wednesday.

Kim Jong Il Gives Field Guidance to Iron Enterprise

     Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, gave field guidance to the September General Iron Enterprise. He first looked round the monument to the on-the-spot guidance given by President Kim Il Sung standing at the entrance to the enterprise.
    The President visited there in September 1970 and chose the site for the enterprise. When it was completed, he visited it again and indicated the orientation and ways of converting it into a Juche-based iron production centre.
    Under the wise leadership and meticulous care of the President there appeared at the northwestern tip of the country one more metallurgical complex producing pig iron, rolled steel, steel and other iron and steel products, Kim Jong Il said, adding that the immortal revolutionary exploits performed by the President would shine forever along with the history of the enterprise.
    After being briefed on the enterprise before its panoramic map, he went round the steel shop and other processes to learn in detail with its technical equipment and production. The enterprise has brought about a revolutionary turn in the steel production by introducing an ultra-high voltage electric furnace, a highly sophisticated one in the steel industry, true to the WPK's policy of attaching importance to science and technology.
    After learning about the technical specification and capacity of the furnace, he expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the enterprise has made a leaping advance in the production by establishing a steel production system operated by dint of ultra-high voltage electricity, the most advanced steel-making method.
    He highly praised the merits of the workers and technicians of the enterprise and members of the scientists and technicians shock brigade and teachers and researchers of Kim Chaek University of Technology active there, noting it is a signal achievement that they have successfully realized the modernization of the enterprise by their concerted efforts in a short span of time.
    The country's economic potential is growing stronger as the heroic working class rose as one to achieve the prosperity and development of the country and built great edifices in its various parts, he said, stressing that the cause of building a great prosperous powerful nation is sure to be accomplished ahead of schedule thanks to the ever-growing inexhaustible strength of the people.

EE.UU., perturbador de paz y reunificacion de Corea

     Pyongyang, 13 de enero (ATCC) -- El editorial conjunto del 94 (2005) de la Era Juche senala que toda la nacion coreana debe retirar con la energica lucha por la paz antibelica a las tropas yanquis del Sur de Corea para eliminar la fuente de la guerra nuclear y preservar la paz y la seguridad de la Peninsula Coreana. Hoy en dia, la paz, la seguridad y la reunificacion independiente de esta Peninsula se encuentran en un grave obstaculo debido al aumento armamentista, la intervencion y el estorbo de los imperialistas norteamericanos.
    Pese a los esfuerzos del gobierno de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea por el mantenimiento de la paz, los yanquis se aferran a las maniobras de provocacion de una nueva guerra y se valen de todos los medios y metodos para estorbar los esfuerzos de la nacion coreana por la reunificacion independiente.
    En febrero del ano pasado elaboraron un "nuevo plan operacional 5026" y examinaron hasta la posibilidad de llevarlo a efecto, y en agosto del mismo ano, el "plan de operacion 5027-04" que concreta el plan de guerra de agresion a la RPDC.
    Introdujeron en el suelo surcoreano gran numero de armas sofisticadas y equipos operacionales nuevamente desarrollados como carros blindados "Striker", el avion tactico teledirigido "Shadow-200" y los tanques "M1- Abrams".
    Por otra parte, desarrollaron sucesivamente los ejercicios belicos de agresion a la RPDC tales como "Ejercicio conjunto de refuerzo para el tiempo de guerra", "Aguilucho" y "Ulji Focus Lens-04".
    Incitaron al Sur de Corea a la confrontacion con la RPDC e hicieron mas abiertas sus maquinaciones de intervencion obstructora en la cooperacion economica entre el Norte y el Sur de Corea.
    Como ya se revelaron, desde principios del ano expirado los imperialistas yanquis forzaron a las autoridades surcoreanas a "moderar la velocidad de mejora" de las relaciones con el Norte conforme a la marcha de la solucion del problema nuclear RPDC- EE.UU. y maniobraron obstinadamente para llevar al fracaso la construccion de la Zona Industrial de Kaesong.
    Mientras los yanquis continuan su presencia en el Sur de Corea y, teniendolo por un punto de apoyo, practican la politica de hostilidad a la RPDC, sera imposible para siempre realizar la aspiracion de la nacion coreana a la reunificacion y la prosperidad. Todo el pueblo coreano puede lograr la reunificacion de la patria solo al expulsar a los uniformados yanquis del Sur de Corea y acabar con su intervencion obstructora en los asuntos internos de la nacion.

Ramas principales de economia nacional deciden registrar gran auge

     Pyongyang, 13 de enero (ATCC) -- Los obreros de las industrias de electricidad, carbonifera, metalurgica y de transporte ferroviario, en sus respectivos mitines efectuados en las fabricas y empresas de los ramos para materializar cabalmente las tareas presentadas en el editorial conjunto del ano nuevo, tomaron la decision de ponerse a la delantera del gran auge de la revolucion del Songun (priorizacion militar). En el mitin de empleados del Complejo Termoelectrico de Pyongyang, los oradores senalaron que todos los funcionarios y empleados deben library una energica lucha por ejecutar las tareas presentadas en el editorial conjunto y cumplir el plan de produccion de electricidad y de agua caliente para este ano.
    En el mitin de empleados de la Mina de Carbon Juventud "8 de febrero" de Jiktong, los oradores subrayaron que deben aumentar decididamente la produccion del carbon guardando el alto orgullo y dignidad de mineros de la epoca del Songun y dando pruebas de su elevado entusiasmo patriotico para suministrar satisfactoriamente cantidades necesarias a las centrales termoelectricas.

Llamamiento a emulacion socialista de trabajadores agricolas

     Hwangju, 12 de enero (ATCC) -- Los trabajadores agricolas de la Granja Cooperativa de Kupho del distrito de Hwangju de la provincia de Hwanghae del Norte tuvieron el dia 12 un mitin donde fue emitido un fuerte llamamiento a sus colegas de todo el pais a desplegar la "emulacion socialista de fidelidad dedicada al 60 aniversario de la fundacion del Partido del Trabajo de Corea" para registrar un gran viraje en la agricultura de este ano. El frente principal de la construccion de la economia socialista para este ano es el sector agricola y por lo tanto, se exhorta a canalizar y movilizar todas las fuerzas a labrar bien la tierra.

Congo: Comite preparatorio para el 16 de febrero

     Pyongyang, 13 de enero (ATCC) -- Quedo constituido el dia 6 en la sede del Partido Socialista del Congo el Comite Preparatorio Nacional del Congo para el 16 de Febrero (cumpleanos del Dirigente Kim Jong Il). En la ocasion, los oradores subrayaron que en ocasion de esta efemeride, deben propagar ampliamente a los congolenos los grandes rasgos e inmortales hazanas del Dirigente Kim Jong Il, quien con la grandiosa politica de Songun (priorizacion militar) fortalecio por todos los medios el poderio defensivo del pais y contribuir al desarrollo de las relaciones con la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea.
    Como presidente del Comite fue electo el secretario general de dicha organizacion politica y la vicepresidencia correspondio al presidente del Comite Nacional del Congo para el Estudio de la Idea Juche.
    El Comite definio como periodo de celebracion desde el 6 de enero hasta finales de febrero y aprobo un programa de varias actividades politico-culturales a desarrollarse en este lapso.
