KCNA Slams Plot Hatched by Japan against DPRK
Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- The Korean Central News Agency issued a memorandum Monday disclosing before the public at home and abroad the truth about the "results of examination" of the remains of Japanese woman Megumi
Yokota, a plot hatched by Japan against the DPRK, on the basis of the materials analyzed by the Ministry of People's Security and forensic pathologists, authorized by the DPRK government.
The memorandum says:
Ultra-right wing forces and political heavyweights of Japan are fanning up an atmosphere of confrontation with the DPRK, crying out for introducing a "bill on north Korean human rights" and applying sanctions against it. The Japanese government has totally ignored the sincere efforts made by the DPRK to confirm the whereabouts of those Japanese whose fate it claimed "unknown" and their results and suspended the humanitarian aid it had already promised.
Referring in detail to how the remains of Megumi Yokota were examined in Japan, the memorandum dismisses the results of the examination as a sheer fabrication because there are too many doubts as to the "objective and correct results of examination" the Japanese government claimed conducted by the most competent research institution.
The memorandum continues:
The first doubt is that the Police Science Institute failed to get results of a DNA test but Teikyo College succeeded in obtaining them though both of them were entrusted to examine the same pieces of bones. One may call the "results of the examination" by Teikyo College a "miracle" but it is hard to believe that "the results" claiming the remains of one person were those of "two persons" are scientific.
What matters here is that the Japanese government regarded only the "results of DNA test" conducted by Teikyo College as absolute without scientifically clarifying the reason why the Police Science Institute failed to get results of the DNA test despite the fact that the institute with a long history and rich experience has been engaged in examination with the world's latest equipment.
In case the results of the examination made by one of the two different research institutions of the same object are held absolute, they should be considered as ones lacking scientific nature and objective validity.
The second doubt is the method applied to examine the remains.
Dead bodies are usually cremated at the temperature of 1,200 degrees C on an average in the DPRK.
Teikyo College claimed it made a DNA test of bones by the method of collecting cells from the remains which were burnt at the high temperature of 1,200 degrees C and cultivating and increasing them. This is hard to believe.
The third doubt is that the results of analysis given in the "report on the DNA test" made by Teikyo College of her remains are incoherent.
The base composition of nucleotide which consists of DNA of the remains of one person should appear in the same form. But it is strange that the composition appeared in three forms and a bone chip among them is analyzed as a mixture.
If one is forced to accept such results of examination of the remains, one should regard the remains as those of three or more persons.
But this is also contradictory to Japan's conclusion that the remains are not Megumi Yokota's but "bones of two other persons."
Particularly the results of the first and the second analysis of the fifth bone are different from each other. One cannot but conclude that there was a plot from outside as they are quite contradictory to each other from a scientific point of view.
The "test report" of the college noted it is clear that "the fifth bone is within the analysis limit and posed a problem as regards its regenerative nature". This tells that it cannot scientifically guarantee the "results of the examination."
If such a sensitive test was made of the remains burnt at the high temperature of 1,200 degrees C to extract DNA from them, there should have been a DNA test of those who handled the remains with their hands while examining substance on the surface of bone chips. But this was not done.
This fact poses not a few questions.
This, in the final analysis, makes one draw a conclusion that it was a deliberate move to get the credibility of the "examination" recognized or an intelligence agency or a specified organ and person might intentionally provided bones of other persons to the college for examination when they found it impossible to extract DNA from the remains of Megumi Yokota.
There are also questions as to the procedures and forms of the examination of the remains.
The Japanese government is talking about "probe", asserting that the "test report" without mentioning names of witnesses, names of analysts and seals of the institutions that conducted the analysis is one on "objective scientific test." This can not but be a grave insult to the DPRK.
All the facts go to clearly prove that the "results of the examination" of the remains publicized by Japan are a fabrication made by ultra-right wing forces strongly opposed to the DPRK and dishonest persons to attain their political purpose in league with them.
The Japanese side took the remains to Tokyo and displayed them in a hall in Minato ward, Tokyo Metropolis, before launching a smear campaign against the DPRK, asserting that the DPRK unearthed and deliberately cremated the remains in a bid to make it impossible to test them.
Worse still, the Japanese side said in the DPRK that it "felt grateful to it and would like to accept the remains as a token of sincerity", but as soon as it went back it sent to the DPRK even a document to the effect that "there was no evidence to support the explanation of the DPRK side and the Japanese government strongly protests against the DPRK's unacceptable and insincere response".
Japan faked up not only the results of the examination of the remains of Megumi Yokota but took the fingerprint, cutaneous sebum, cell, etc. of her husband and negated even the relations between him and his daughter by resorting to the despicable and conspiratorial method, something unprecedented in diplomatic usage.
The reality patently proves that Japan is so untrustworthy that one cannot be on good terms with it as it claims the dead to be alive, negates the kinship between the father and his daughter and cooks up false remains.
Japan has refused to recognize that the issue of abduction had already been settled, faking up even the results of the examination of the remains and totally negated the sincere efforts made by the DPRK, driving the bilateral relations to the worst phase of confrontation. By doing so Japan seeks to use the issue of the abduction as a subterfuge to evade the liquidation of its past under the pretext of "sentiment of the people", a leverage to isolate the DPRK internationally and a good means for attaining its political aim and even for money-making.
No matter how hard Japan may work to attain its political purpose by resorting to the despicable method of making profound confusing of right and wrong, it can never evade the responsibility for having faked up the results of the examination of the remains of Megumi Yokota and damaged the image of the DPRK. Japan should bear this in mind.
Now that the Japanese government insisted that the remains it received are not Megumi Yokota's, it should return them in their original state as demanded by the DPRK more than once, thoroughly probe the truth about the faked results of the examination and sternly punish those responsible for it.
Seminar on Songun Politics Held in Russia
Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- A seminar on leader Kim Jong Il's Songun politics was held by the Russian Youth Association for the Study of Songun
Politics on Jan. 14.
Mikhail Panchenko, chairman of the association, in his report expressed deep sympathy with the Songun politics of Kim Jong Il, saying the steel-like Korean People's Army is not only defending the security of the DPRK but also implementing the policies of the Workers' Party of Korea in all the fields of social life under the slogan "When the Party is determined we can do anything."
Scientific Secretary of the association Andrei Dmitriyev and other speakers, explaining the political mode of Songun, said Kim Jong Il's Songun politics saved Korea from the crisis caused by provocations of the U.S. imperialists and their followers.
The false doctrine on economic stagnation following the increase of defense building expenditures spread by imperialist economic experts was utterly refuted by all the changes brought by the great Songun politics, they said, noting: The living standard of the Korean people is rising and the economy is growing day by day and the People's Army is provided with all the means needed for increasing defense capabilities.
The secret to it is that the KPA is a powerful economic construction force in carrying out major national economic plans, they noted, and added: In the DPRK where the people are the true master of power, unlike in the Western states where honor and position are bought and sold with money, the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation is a great victory won by leader Kim Jong Il.
They called for following the examples of the ever-victorious Korean people and their leader.
A congratulatory message to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the seminar.
Political Terrorism against Worker Masses Denounced
Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- The director of the Worker-Peasant Department of the Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of south Korea issued a statement on Jan. 21 denouncing the south Korean prosecution authorities for their crackdown upon "national assemblymen" from the Democratic Workers' Party, branding it as malicious political terrorism against the worker masses aspiring after a new policy, a new system and a new life, according to Internet site of Kuguk Jonson.
The prosecution authorities imposed three years in prison upon Kwon Yong Gil, lawmaker from the party, who contributed to the formation and strengthening of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and formed the party, on the charge of violation of the "provision banning the interference of a third party" in the "law on coordinating labor disputes", a fascist evil law. They also imposed a fine on Jo Sung Su, lawmaker from the party, on the charge of "canvassing in advance." They seek in this to
deprive them of the posts of assemblymen.
The authorities' suppression of the lawmakers from the workers' political party is a wanton violation of the three rights to labor, the basic rights of workers which are recognized worldwide, and a fascist outrage to deny and obliterate the existence of a legitimate progressive political party which was launched at the people's will and desire, the statement said, adding:
Lurking behind this is the dastardly intention of the authorities to dislodge the party of workers from the "National Assembly" and block the growth of worker masses into a political force and the advance of progressive and reform forces.
It demanded the present authorities stop at once the crackdown upon the lawmakers from the DWP and ensure the freedom of the labor movement and activities of the workers' political party.
Russian Social Committee Formed
Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- A Russian social committee was formed in Moscow on January 20 to celebrate the birthday of leader Kim Jong Il.
A statement on the formation of the committee said Kim Jong Il has earned great fame everywhere on the planet as a world-renowned genius, the most outstanding strategist, statesman and brilliant commander and the great leader of the heroic people who is successfully carrying into reality a far-reaching plan for building a great prosperous powerful socialist nation in the time-honored land of Korea.
Noting that he is well known and respected in the Russia public, too, it said his birthday is a grand and joyful fete.
The committee is made up with Vladimir Tolstikov, chairman of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK, as its chairman, and Oleg Shenin, chairman of the Soviet Communist Party, Sazhi Umalatova, chairwoman of the Party for Peace and Unity of Russia, and 26 others as members.
S. Korean Authorities Urged to Ensure Freedom of Activities
Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea issued a statement on Jan. 23 urging the south Korean authorities to stop the crackdown upon lawmakers from the Democratic Workers' Party at once and guarantee the freedom of activities to all the political parties and organizations.
Noting that the south Korean authorities recently perpetrated fascist outrages against lawmakers from the DWP including Kwon Yong Gil on the strength of a fascist evil law left behind by the military dictatorial regime, the spokesman said: This is an unpardonable criminal act to put the workers' political party out of existence and prevent the growth of the worker masses into a political force in south Korea.
Having emerged the third party in the17th general election last year, the DWP of south Korea has waged an active struggle for social independence and democracy and the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration, while opposing the authorities' criminal troop dispatch to Iraq, confrontational moves against the DPRK and war exercises with outside forces for invading the north and strongly demanding the abrogation of the "National Security Law," he noted, adding: This represented the trend of south Korean society toward independence, progress and reform.
The entire working class and trade union members in the DPRK will as ever extend full support and encouragement to the just struggle of the workers' political party and organizations of labour movement in south Korea, he declared.
Japan's Settlement of Its Past Crimes Urged
Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries are these days creating a thicker hostile atmosphere against the DPRK and raising outcries
for "sanctions" and "adoption of a law," while kicking up quite a row over the "issue of abduction victims".
Commenting on this, a Rodong Sinmun analyst Monday says:
In tenaciously slandering the DPRK and raising a hullabaloo against it over the "issue of abduction victims" they seek to reverse the relations between the victims and the offenders, cover up the crimes they committed against the Korean people for over a century and evade at any cost the settlement of their past crimes.
As for the "issue of a few victims to abduction" which was caused unintentionally against the background of acute hostile relations between the two countries resulting from the tenacious hostile policy of Japan toward the DPRK, it is less than one millionth of the enormous misfortunes, pains and disasters imposed upon the Korean people by Japan in the past and it has already reduced to naught.
As Japan persistently clings to the hostile policy toward the DPRK and gets more malicious in its anti-DPRK campaign, the hostile feelings of the army and people of the DPRK against Japan and their will and determination to get paid the price for its crimes for over a century by whatever means and method available will grow a hundred fold, nay a thousand fold.
If Japan wants to live a worthy life, enjoying the trust of all people as a member of the international community and if it has a shred of political reason, conscience and morality, it should totally reexamine its over100-year long policy of aggression toward Korea and make a new start.
The settlement of its past crimes is Japan's unavoidable historical obligation and moral and legal duty. It is necessary and useful for Japan itself. Japan should show its will to sincerely reflect on its criminal past and make a new start to the world people by making a decision to settle the past and taking a practical step in the spirit of the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration.
Settlement of Issue of "Comfort Women" for Imperial Japanese Army Demanded
Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- The 641st Wednesday rally for the settlement of the issue of the "comfort women" for the imperial Japanese army was held in front of the Japanese embassy in Seoul on Jan. l9, according to a news report.
Yun Mi Hyang, secretary general of the Council for the Solution of the Issue of the Volunteers Corps, and other speakers said that public voices are growing louder to demand a probe into the truth behind the issue of compensation to victims with the declassification of diplomatic documents related to the "south Korea-Japan Agreement" and that the Japanese government should not evade its responsibility but make apology and compensation.
They called on all the participants in the rally to pool mind and efforts to fight till the demand for compensation to the victims is met.
Victims of the "comfort women" in their speeches stressed that the "government" should immediately urge the Japanese government to make an apology and compensation to vent the grudge of the victims.
A letter to the Japanese prime minister was read out at the rally.
At the end of the rally the participants conducted a signature campaign for resolving the issue of the "comport women" for the imperial Japanese army.
Stop to Negotiations on Fund Sharing Demanded in S. Korea
Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification and the Citizens' Network for Peace on the Korean Peninsula in south Korea called a press conference in front of the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on Jan. 18 and demanded the government authorities immediately stop the negotiations on the sharing of the expenditures for the maintenance of the U.S. forces in south Korea, according to a news report.
Noting that the government was to pay 5,470,000 million won by 2008 under the agreement on the transfer of the U.S. army base in Ryongsan and the joint plan of land management, the speakers at the press conference said it could never be allowed to pay even the share of the expenditures for the maintenance of the U.S. forces in addition to this.
Noting that the U.S. is demanding the addition of four items including fund necessary for the modernization of the tactical command automation system, public utility fees and housing rent to the item of fund sharing in the "agreement" and the prolongation of the term of its validity for more than one year, they denounced this as a robber-like act.
The amount runs into an astronomical figure when the indirect maintenance fund is added to the fund currently paid to the U.S. forces present in south Korea, they said, adding: The negotiations on fund sharing for the maintenance of the U.S. forces in south Korea is an illegal one for wringing the blood of the people.
The organizations stated they would stage sit-down strikes and protests to curb the negotiation.
Rodong Sinmun on Peaceful Reunification
Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- It is one of the fundamental principles maintained by the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) in leading the cause of national reunification to reunify the country peacefully, Rodong Sinmun today stresses in a signed article.
It goes on:
The WPK consistently has opposed confrontation and war and called for peace and peaceful reunification in the settlement of the issue of national reunification and never allowed the war moves of the anti-reunification aggression forces at home and abroad to escalate the military confrontation and tension on the Korean Peninsula and has resolutely struggled against them under the uplifted banner of peace and peaceful reunification against war.
The principled stand of the WPK toward peaceful reunification is clarified in the three principles of national reunification set forth by President Kim Il Sung. This principle of peaceful national reunification has been invariably maintained by leader Kim Jong Il.
Kim Jong Il in his famous work "Let Us Carry Out the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung's Instructions for National Reunification" reclarified that differences of ideology and system between the north and the south of Korea cannot be removed by force and that peaceful reunification is the WPK's principled stand and unchanged line.
In the light of the urgent demand of the Korean nation for peace and peaceful reunification and the realistic conditions in which the different ideologies and systems exist in the north and the south, the best way of realizing national reunification in a peaceful way is to establish a national unified state of federal formula based on one nation and one state, two systems and two governments.
It is the verification of the vitality, scientific accuracy and realistic character of a proposal for reunification of federal formula to have agreed in the historic June 15 joint declaration to go toward reunification in the direction of keeping the commonness of the north-proposed low-level federation and the south-proposed commonwealth.
The WPK's revolutionary will to prevent the danger of aggression and war and defend peace in the Korean Peninsula is represented by the Songun politics.
The Songun politics of the WPK is the politics of defending peace which deters a war in the Korean Peninsula and guarantees the peace of the country and the dignity and security of the whole nation and the treasured sword of justice which mercilessly punishes those aggressors who infringe upon the sovereignty and vital rights of the nation.
Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Work Observed
Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Monday dedicates a signed article to the 5th anniversary of the publication of leader Kim Jong Il's famous work "Improving the Layout of the Fields Is a Great Transformation of Nature for the Prosperity of the Country, a Patriotic Work of Lasting Significance."
The work clearly indicates the Juche-oriented idea and policy of land rezoning, its essence and significance, its general target and tasks and ways for its successful fulfillment, the article says, and goes on:
It is steadfast faith and will of Kim Jong Il to turn the land of the country as befits Kim Il Sung's Korea, both in name and reality, the land which is associated with the noble life of President Kim Il Sung devoted to the country's prosperity and development and people's happiness.
Kim Jong Il advanced the unique idea that it is a revolution to turn patches of fields which had been handed down from the feudal age into vast standardized fields, a revolution for clearing away the leftovers of feudal land ownership in the countryside without leaving a trace and completely changing the appearance of the land to truly befit socialist Korea. Thanks to his new idea of land rezoning and wise guidance, the leftovers of feudal land ownership have been totally cleared away and the paddy and non-paddy fields turned into large-scale standardized fields and fields suitable for machine farming so that the vitality of collective economy can be displayed to the full in the DPRK.
His idea of land rezoning represents the stand of the Workers' Party of Korea to convert all the fields into standardized ones and carry out comprehensive mechanization and thus free the peasants from difficult and labor-consuming work, indicates the truth that the reserves for increased crop production lay in land rezoning under the natural and geographical conditions of the country and shows a scientific way of solving the food problem in a short time with less labor.
With the realization of his idea and policy of land rezoning, passivism was overcame in land leveling and a definite prospect opened for energetically carrying out the mechanization of farming and acquiring more new land.
This idea is a unique idea as it newly expounds the outstanding position of land rezoning in shaping the destiny of the popular masses and bringing prosperity to the country and a great banner for completely changing the land of socialist Korea on an overall scale as required by the historic era of the building of a great prosperous powerful nation.
Song Reflecting Faith and Will of Korean People
Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- Seventy years have passed since President Kim Il Sung created the famous "Song of the Anti-Japanese War."
In the latter half of January Juche 24 (1935), members of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army had to march through snow-storm and steep mountains, breaking through tight siege and pursuit of the Japanese occupation army.
Worse still, the President caught a severe rigor.
In the grave situation the guerrillas were at a loss and some of them fell down.
Though his temperature was around 40 degrees C, the President wrote the words of the song to instill hatred against the enemy and faith in the victory of the revolution into the mind of the guerrillas. And he began to sing the song.
The "Song of the Anti-Japanese War" mirrors his boundless love for the motherland and fellow countrymen who were groaning under the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule and his iron will to fight till the victory over the white terrorism under the red banner.
The song, which powerfully aroused the guerrillas and people in the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, is still sung in the country.
It is an ideological and spiritual source of strength with which the Korean people defended the dignity and sovereignty of the country and the nation not only in the Korean war but also in the "Arduous March" and the forced march in the mid-1990s, frustrating the imperialists' moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK.
Successes in Geological Prospecting
Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- The plan of geological prospecting for 2004 was carried out at 100.1 percent in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Prospecting teams surveyed deposits of coal and iron ore and found out mineral ores such as K, P and Si in the western area of the country.
The North Hamgyong Provincial Geological Prospecting Complex renewed the data on geological survey in the Musan area, made a model of ore body and confirmed the iron ore deposits with modern physical survey facilities.
The North Phyongan Provincial Prospecting Complex solved issues in developing mines of rare-earth minerals in a scientific and technical way and found out a new kind of natural mineral fertilizer. And it conducted boring at hundreds of places for the construction of water tunnels and dams of the Paekma-Cholsan Waterway project and thus greatly contributed to finishing the project at an early date.
The prospecting of the beds of major construction objects and hydro-power stations including the Taean Friendship Glass Factory and Samsu and Orangchon power stations has been successfully carried out.
Site of Ancient House, Relics Discovered
Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- A large-sized ruined house, belonging to the Neolithic era, was discovered recently in the Phyodae historic site in Honam-ri, Samsok District, Pyongyang, on the bank of the River Taedong.
The discovering project in the Phyodae historic site, one of the largest historic sites in the country, has been continued for nearly ten years.
The ruined house was registered as No. 89 according to its order of discovery in the Phyodae historic site. Its plottage covers 125 square meters, five to seven times that of other houses.
What is catching the eyes of people is that many relics were unearthed there.
There are more than 200 earthenware pieces of various kinds and sizes.
Among them are 11 jars over 60 centimeters high.
An extra-large jar was unearthed in the western part of the ruined house.
Its mouth is 58.3 cm in diameter and its height 91 cm. It is the biggest one of its kind belonging to the primitive and ancient times discovered in the country. It still preserves its original shape.
Among the remains from the ruined house are seven broken large grinding stones used for husking and powdering grain.
One of them is 48 cm long, 32 cm wide and 15cm thick.
The grinding stones are indicative of simultaneous grain processes and the then fairly developed agricultural production at that time.
Archaeologists say that, in the light of its size and shape, the ruined house was not a dwelling house but a building used for public purpose and built more than 6,000 years ago.
It has been hardly seen until now that many remains of various kinds were discovered in a ruined house as in No. 89.
The newly discovered historic relics and remains serve as precious historic materials reflecting the developed culture of the Pyongyang area in the period of the Neolithic era.
S. Korean Military Urged to Stop Escalating Tension
Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- The Navy Command of the Korean People's Army issued a report on Jan. 24 as regards the evermore undisguised
intrusion of battleships of the south Korean forces into the waters of the north side in the West Sea of Korea.
The report said:
Battleships of the south Korean forces have intruded into the waters south of Kuwol Hill of the north side one after another since Jan. 21, increasing the military tension there.
The Navy Command of the KPA regards this provocation of the south Korean military as an irresponsible act intended to scrap the points agreed upon at the inter-Korean general-level military talks which call for easing the military tension on the Korean Peninsula and preventing a military clash in the West Sea and brings this situation to the military's attention, the report warned.
