Message to Kim Jong Il from Hu Jintao
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, Monday received a message sent by Hu Jintao, general secretary of the C.C., the Communist Party of China and president of the People's Republic of China, replying to his congratulatory message upon Hu's election as chairman of the PRC Central Military Commission.
The reply message said:
I express deep thanks to you for sending me congratulations on my election as chairman of the PRC Central Military Commission before any others.
I will continue to work hard, together with you, to steadily develop the friendly and cooperative relations between the two parties, countries, armies and peoples of China and the DPRK.
I hope that your country will prosper and the Sino-Korean friendship will be evergreen.
Kim Jong Il Sends Wreath to Bier of People's Artiste
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il sent a wreath to the bier of O Thae Yong, director of the Korean Documentary and Scientific Film Studio who is Kim Il Sung Prize laureate and People's Artiste, on Tuesday, expressing deep condolences over his death.
DPRK's Stand on Nuclear Issue Supported
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- We warmly welcome the firm stand of the DPRK on the talks with the U.S. over the nuclear issue.
Genaro Ledesma Izquieta, chairman of the People's Front of Workers, Peasants and Students of Peru, said this in a statement on Mar. 8 in support of the memorandum of the DPRK Foreign Ministry dated March 2. It said:
The DPRK's access to nuclear weapons dealt a blow at the arrogant U.S. which behaves as it pleases defying international law.
All the Peruvian people, victims of the U.S. imperialists' neo-colonial exploitation, are pleased with the Korean people's access to nuclear weapons for self-defence and support the firm stand of the DPRK.
Meanwhile, Richard Stenberg, chairman of the Swedish National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea and chairman of the Malmo Branch of the Sweden-Korea Friendship Association, made public a statement on Mar. 1 in support of the statement of the DPRK Foreign Ministry in which it declared it would suspend its participation in the six-party talks for an indefinite period and take measures to bolster its nuclear weapons arsenal.
Spokesman for DPRK FM Blasts U.S. State Secretary's Reckless Remarks
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry gave the following answer to the question put by KCNA on Mar. 16 as regards a string of vituperation let loose by U.S. State Secretary Condoleezza Rice against the DPRK.
Rice, when interviewed by Reuters and the Washington Times recently, told rubbish that she would not apologize for the remark terming the DPRK "an outpost of tyranny." By repeatedly demanding that the U.S. state it has no hostile intent toward north Korea Pyongyang is throwing up smoke screens in its continued refusal to return to the six-country talks on its nuclear program and the U.S. would not be going to play the north Koreans' game, she said.
It is quite illogical for the U.S. to intend to negotiate with the DPRK without retracting its remarks listing its dialogue partner as "an outpost of tyranny." This is, in the final analysis, little short of indicating its will not to hold the six-party talks.
She can make nothing but such outcries as she is no more than an official of the most tyrannical dictatorial state in the world.
Such woman bereft of any political logic is not the one to be dealt with by us.
Her reckless remarks showed to the world what type of a woman she is.
She has thus once again laid bare the U.S. hostile intention not to co-exist with the DPRK and isolate and pressurize it. It is, therefore, entirely just for the DPRK to steadily bolster its nuclear arsenal for self-defence in order to protect its ideology and system and the peace and stability in the region as it has already clarified.
She would be well advised to give up such a foolish attempt to plug a third party into the U.S. move to put pressure on the DPRK, though belatedly, properly understanding that no pressure can ever work on the DPRK. It is inconceivable for the DPRK to go out for the talks before it is delisted as "an outpost of tyranny."
The U.S. had better behave realistically and wisely if it truly wishes to have the six-party talks.
Japan's Moves to Revive Militarism under Fire
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- The south Korean political camp slashed at Japan's evermore undisguised moves to revive militarism, according to south
Korea's KBS and MBC.
On March 11, the Democratic Workers' Party had a press conference in front of the Japanese embassy in Seoul to condemn the Shimane Prefectural Assembly of Japan for having passed a motion calling for instituting "Takeshima Day".
Japan should never be allowed to intrude into waters around Tok Islet, it held.
Meanwhile, chairmen of provincial and city assemblies in south Korea, too, took a concerted action against the passing of the motion.
Kang Chang Il, a lawmaker from the Uri Party and chairman of the Lawmakers League for the Settlement of the Past History, stressed the need to check Japan's moves to revive militarism, recalling that its politicians have been involved in its campaign for making distorted history textbooks.
Japan's Evermore Undisguised Moves to Tamper with Its History Disclosed
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- KBS of south Korea disclosed Japan's evermore undisguised moves to tamper with its history.
"The Society for Making New History Textbook," an ultra-rightist organization of Japan, is reported to have edited another history textbook for middle schools for the next year, a serious distortion of its past history, and presented it to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology for examination.
This textbook totally distorts the historical facts, asserting that "names of Koreans were changed into Japanese ones" during the Japanese imperialists' rule as desired by them and the "Korea-Japan Annexation Treaty" cooked by the Japanese imperialists was accepted and recognized by Koreans. It also omits the fact about the "comfort women" for the imperial Japanese army while describing the forcible drafting of Koreans as "enlarged application of the labor and military conscription system".
The book in its separate part headlined "Japan Helped Korea in Its Modern History" claimed that "colonialization was helpful to Korea's modernization," while omitting the details of damage Korea suffered during the 1592-1598 Japanese invasion of it.
Besides, a Japanese textbook for primary schools carries a picture of Tok Islet accompanied by an explanation of "Takeshima (Tok Islet) over whose dominion Korea and Japan stand in confrontation". In this part the book hypes this matter as "an issue related to Japan's defence" and "an example of an infringement upon its sovereignty."
Noting that such textbooks are now being examined by the above-said ministry after being presented to it last year and its results are expected to be announced early next month, KBS added that the outcome will likely throw another serious obstacle to south Korea-Japan relations.
U.S. Urged to Withdraw Its Carrier Flotilla from S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- The U.S. aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk anchored at Pusan Port on Monday to be involved in the U.S.-south Korea RSOI and Foal Eagle maneuvers.
Along with it, cruisers, destroyers and other warships belonging to the flotilla sailed into south Korean ports in groups.
In this regard a spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland issued a statement on Tuesday, which says:
At a time when the situation is growing tenser over the nuclear issue, the United States has sent this notorious flotilla to south Korean ports in the wake of the announcement of its plan for the military exercises. This is another open military blackmail and an intolerable provocation against the DPRK.
The current developments are evidently a prelude to a war against the north. This clearly proves once again that the U.S. call for "a peaceful solution" to the nuclear issue and "six-party talks" are nothing but an empty talk and there is no change in its aggressive policy towards the DPRK.
Leveling a gun at its dialogue partner in the wake of anchoring the aircraft flotilla at south Korean ports, the U.S. is crying for the six-party talks and trying to force the DPRK to "abandon its nuclear program." Such high-handed and arrogant act fully reveals the aggressive colours of the Bush administration seeking to disarm the DPRK and vanquish it.
The U.S. argues that there is no question in its "policy of strength" on the Korean Peninsula but the DPRK's war deterrent for self-defence is dangerous and should be called into question. This assertion will work nowhere.
The U.S. must know clearly that the stick of strength is not almighty and it is not its monopoly.
Now that the U.S. persists in its moves for the provocation of a nuclear war, totally ignoring the unanimous demand of the DPRK and the global community for the renouncement of its hostile policy toward the DPRK, the latter has no alternative but to strengthen its nuclear deterrent, a treasured sword and shield for defending peace of the country and the nation.
The U.S. is entirely to blame for the failure to resume the six-party talks and the grave obstacle laid in the way of the solution of the nuclear issue between it and the DPRK.
It would be well advised to withdraw the carrier flotilla from south Korea at once, give up the projected war maneuvers targeted against the DPRK and pull out its aggression forces at an early date, pondering over the serious consequences to be entailed by its reckless and dangerous war provocation moves against the DPRK.
The south Korean authorities should resolutely abandon their stand of toeing the U.S. line and of confrontation with the north, clearly mindful that the anti-north war exercises with the U.S. flotilla involved are a foolish act of bringing disaster to the nation and lifting an axe only to drop it on their own feet.
S. Korean Youth and Students Urged to Fight against U.S. War Game
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- The Seoul District Federation of University Student Councils under the south Korean Federation of University Student
Councils in an appeal to the youth and students on Mar. 11 reportedly called for taking the lead in the fight against U.S. war exercises.
The appeal said the U.S. was intending to drive the tension to a higher pitch on the Korean Peninsula by staging the massive joint military games, RSOI and Foal Eagle.
Let us participate together in the fight of the "day of international anti-war joint action (Mar. 20)" and against the military drills of the U.S. scheduled to begin on Mar. 19 and denounce the U.S. war games, the appeal urged.
U.S. Carrier Enters S. Korean Port
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- The U.S. aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk anchored at Pusan Port on Monday to participate in the U.S.-south Korea joint war exercises codenamed RSOI and Foal Eagle, which will start on March 19, according to south Korean Yonhap News.
Along with it, the forces of the carrier flotilla including six cruisers and destroyers were massively hurled there, the news report said.
The U.S. had announced its plan for the large-scale nuclear war exercises targeted against the DPRK before bringing these ill-famed nuclear strike forces, whipping up war hysteria. This reckless act of military provocation is bringing again dark clouds of war over the Korean Peninsula.
Taean Friendship Glass Factory Presents Grand Sight
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- The Taean Friendship Glass Factory which is under construction amid the deep concern of the peoples and builders of the DPRK and China has begun to show its imposing appearance.
Builders and technicians of the two countries have dynamically pushed forward the construction of the factory in a little more than eight months since the successful blasting involving one million cubic meters of earth.
As many as 1.2 million cubic meters of earth has been moved to bring into shape the building lot extending more than 200,000 square meters. And workshops of the factory have vied with each other in springing up.
The builders completed the assembling of the steel structures of the melting and moulding shops earlier than schedule. Then they wound up the assembling of the steel trusses of the moulding shop, and are now speeding up the concrete tamping of the groundwork of the slow-cooling shop and goods stores at the final stage.
With the fast progress of the construction of the main production building, which may be called the heart of the factory, a definite prospect has opened for an earlier completion of the overall construction.
The builders in charge of the subsidiary system have completed in high quality the concrete tamping of the skeletons of the sand-screening system including the sediment basin, the circulating water pond and the silico-sand pumping station. They are now pushing ahead with the construction of the industrial water purification ground.
Soldier builders have set about the construction of the garnet and soda storehouses after successively winding up the concrete tamping of the skeleton of the sand-screening system and the building of the rail roadbed.
Going along with the construction of the factory are the building of roads in its compound and tree-planting. Thousands of trees of good species have already been planted and roads are stretching in and around the factory compound.
Fullest Play to Politico-Ideological Might Called for
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- Korean-style socialism has won victory after victory in the fierce stand-off with the U.S. imperialists as the DPRK has increased its politico-ideological might in every way. Rodong Sinmun Wednesday says this in a signed article.
It goes on:
The politico-ideological might means the force of the great ideology.
Korean socialist society advances and develops by the force of the great ideology.
When the Korean revolution faced the worst adversity leader Kim Jong Il aroused the army and people to the struggle to defend socialism under the banner of Songun.
He has energetically led the work to fully prepare servicepersons and people politically and ideologically, regarding arms and ideology as invincible weapons for winning a sure victory in the struggle to protect socialism.
The politico-ideological might means the might of single-minded unity.
It is the firm faith of Kim Jong Il to uphold the tradition of the unity in the Korean revolution and lead the socialist cause to victory with the might of unity.
His Songun revolutionary leadership served as a source of invincible might with which the army and people of the DPRK shared the thought with their leader and breathed the same air, absolutely believed in and followed him and overcame whatever difficulties and adversities with optimism.
It is the brilliant fruition of his wise leadership that the politico-ideological might of Korean-style socialism has been augmented in every way. The U.S. imperialists' moves to stifle the Korean-style socialism have reached a dangerous phase.
Korean-style socialism is sure to triumph as there are Kim Jong Il's Songun idea and the army and people remaining single-mindedly true to the Songun leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea.
U.S. Urged to Cancel Its Projected Sabre Rattling
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- The warlike forces of the U.S. and south Korea are expected to stage large-scale joint military exercises with south Korea as their operational theatre. The exercises will be a combination of RSOI aimed at boosting the capability to promptly hurl the U.S. forces in the mainland and overseas into the Korean Peninsula in case of emergency and help them familiarize with the procedures to support the south Korean forces and Foal Eagle exercise to be conducted with main emphasis on a field mobile exercise. Minju Joson Wednesday observes this in a signed commentary.
It goes on:
Nobody can predict when those RSOI and Foal Eagle joint exercises which will mainly involve such military actions as mobile, landing and surprise air raid drills will go over to an actual war.
This is undeniable given the fact that the U.S. listed the DPRK as "an outpost of tyranny" at the outset of the year and adopted it as a policy not to co-exist with it.
A crisis on the Korean peninsula is inevitable as the U.S. is persistently working to carry out its policy to bring down the system in the DPRK and its line of war of aggression against the DPRK.
We desire peace but never beg for it. It is the faith and will of our army and people to emerge victorious in the confrontation with the U.S. and give vent to the pent-up grudge of the nation at any cost should a war break out on the Korean Peninsula.
The bellicose forces of the U.S. and south Korea should cogitate about the serious consequences to be entailed by their rash war moves and cancel at once their plan for the saber rattling.
The U.S. demonstration of its military muscle will never work on the DPRK.
Portable Heating Bag Made in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- Portable heating bags have widely been used in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
The heating bag is good for treating stomach cramp, body chill and other diseases and for keeping body and bed warm. And it is popular among workers in the sectors of forestry, fishery and geological survey.
The polyethylene resin bag contains heat-generating solid substances.
When the bag is heated up, the solid substances turn into liquid at the temperature of above 58 degrees C to produce heat of 80 degrees C at the maximum for 5-6 hours.
Its serviceable life is ten years.
The melting process of the substances can be controlled according to its use.
Bags of different sizes are produced in accordance with the demand of users.
It was appreciated at the 8th National Exhibition of Inventions and New Technologies.
Activated Titanium Made by Acidulous Water Electrolysis in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- Scientists of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have succeeded in making activated titanium by the method
of acidulous water electrolysis.
The electrolytic method makes it possible for nitrogen to penetrate into metal in salt bath more quickly and deeply than other methods.
Companies under the Ministry of Land and Marine Transport are manufacturing several dozen kinds of machine accessories including auto leaf spring, tools and jigs with carbonic steel and metal goods processed by this method, without using expensive alloy steel.
Some products have already been commercialized.
This method, based on KNOW HOW science and technology, was awarded a gold prize at the 8th National Exhibition of Inventions and New Technologies.
Congratulations to Thai Foreign Minister
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- Paek Nam Sun, foreign minister of the DPRK, sent a congratulatory message to Kantathi Suphamongkhon upon his appointment as foreign minister of the Kingdom of Thailand.
Convincing that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would grow stronger in the future, the message wished him great success in his new job.
Cyprian Ambassador Presents Credentials to Kim Yong Nam
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Wednesday received credentials from Cyprian Ambassador e.p. to the DPRK Petros Kestoras at the Mansudae Assembly
Hall.
On hand was DPRK Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kung Sok Ung.
After receiving credentials, the president had a talk with the ambassador.
KCNA Flails Entry of Kitty Hawk into S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- U.S. carrier Kitty Hawk entered Pusan Port in south Korea on Mar. 14 to participate in south Korea-U.S. joint military
exercises, according to a news report.
The Kitty Hawk task force was escorted by six cruisers and destroyers.
The carrier, backbone of the U.S. naval flying units, can accommodate 60 aircraft including F-18 Super Hornet and thousands of personnel.
The U.S. is mobilizing not only its forces in south Korea but its elite units in its mainland and overseas and nuclear strike means including Kitty Hawk for large-scale war exercises to be staged under the simulated conditions of "an emergency" on the Korean Peninsula. This can not but be a very dangerous development.
The U.S. can not deny the fact that the portcall of the nuclear-powered carrier is a prelude to the war of aggression against the DPRK, when recalling the historical fact that it has always dispatched carrier flotilla to waters off a certain country before launching a war of aggression against that country.
This goes to prove that the second-term Bush administration's hostile policy toward the DPRK which it had designated as an "outpost of tyranny" has reached the phase of a real war, after going beyond the phase of military pressure.
The DPRK policy pursued by the U.S. now has been focused on creating an environment favorable for igniting a nuclear war against it and securing leverage for putting pressure upon it.
The U.S. seeks to finally round off its preparations for a Korean war by staging large-scale joint military exercises in south Korea after massing huge forces in areas around the Korean Peninsula.
The U.S. loud-mouthed talk about "a peaceful solution to the nuclear issue" and "six-party talks" is nothing but a red herring and its policy to invade the DPRK remains unchanged.
The U.S. is talking about "dialogue" while leveling a gun at its dialogue partner after dispatching even the carrier flotilla. This clearly reveals its gangster-like intention to force the DPRK to disarm itself and topple it in the end.
The DPRK has already clarified its principled stand that it would not refuse to participate in the six-party talks if the U.S. retracts its vituperation against the dialogue partner and behaves to win his trust.
However, the U.S. responded to the DPRK's just demand with the large-scale nuclear war exercises.
This is an outright challenge to the sincere efforts exerted by the international community and parties concerned as well as the DPRK for a negotiated peaceful solution to the nuclear issue and a perfidy to them.
The reality irrefutably proves that the U.S. is entirely to blame for having escalated the nuclear crisis on the Korean Peninsula and driven the situation there to an extreme phase of confrontation and war.
A military action can never go together with dialogue. The U.S. should clearly understand that its negotiating logic that "diplomatic persuasion can prove successful only when it is backed by military counteraction" and American style diplomatic doctrine that "war is the best diplomacy" can never work on the DPRK.
The DPRK can never remain an on-looker to such military actions of the U.S. behind the scene of the six-party talks.
The U.S. had better clearly understand who its rival is.
