National Meeting Marks May Day

     Pyongyang, May 1 (KCNA) -- A national meeting was held at the construction site of the Taean Friendship Glass Factory on May 1 to mark the 115th May Day. Present there were Premier of the DPRK Cabinet Pak Pong Ju, Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned, builders of the glass factory and Chinese workers and technicians.
    Ryom Sun Gil, chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, in a report said that on the May Day the Korean working class and other people are full of enthusiasm to creditably fulfill their mission in the efforts to build a new, free and peaceful world and realize the popular masses' cause of independence under the uplifted banner of independence against imperialism.
    Recalling that the Korean working class has admirably performed their duty in the whole historical course of firmly defending and triumphantly advancing the socialist cause of Juche, he stressed that this has been possible thanks to the wise guidance of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il.
    The reporter went on to say:
    All the workers should wage a dynamic struggle to successfully accomplish the revolutionary cause of the President, defend Kim Jong Il politically and ideologically at the cost of their lives, implement the line and policy of the WPK in a do-or-die spirit and become Songun revolutionary comrades who share thought and will with him.
    Our working class should firmly protect the gains of revolution with a transparent view on war and anti-U.S., anti-Japanese fighting spirit as required by the present situation. They should get fully ready to form workers' divisions or regiments and rise up in a sacred fight for defending the country just as they did in the l950s' if hard times come again.
    All workers should fully display patriotic zeal in the on-going worthwhile general march for Songun revolution in the same spirit as was done in the period of postwar reconstruction and in the same spirit as was displayed during the "Arduous March" to overcome stern trials and thus brilliantly decorate the 60th anniversaries of the Workers' Party of Korea and the liberation of the country as the great festivals of victors.
    The reporter declared that the workers and other people of Korea will unite with the world people in the idea of independence, peace and friendship to vigorously struggle to protect national sovereignty and world peace from the arbitrary and high-handed practices of the U.S. imperialists and fulfill their noble international duty for the human cause of independence and socialist cause.

Working Class Called upon to Demonstrate Their Heroic Spirit

     Pyongyang, May 1 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Sunday editorially calls on all the workers and other people to unite close around the great headquarters of revolution and dynamically struggle to achieve brilliant victory in the general march for the Songun revolution. The editorial says:
    Our working class has admirably fulfilled its mission and role century after century under the steermanship of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il.
    Kim Il Sung made a deep insight into the position and role of the working class in the revolution and construction at his early age and, on this basis, wisely led them to creditably fulfill its duty.
    The revolutionary spirit and militancy of our working class intensely loyal to the socialist cause have been immensely exalted in the era of Songun led by Kim Jong Il. The innovative spirit mounting high in all fields of the national economy including the power, coal and metal industries and railway transportation is a clear manifestation of the unshakable resolution of the Korean working class to achieve a brilliant victory in the general march for the Songun revolution this year.
    The general march for the Songun revolution is sure to succeed as there are the outstanding Songun revolutionary leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea and the single-minded unity of all the servicepersons and people around the Party and the leader.
    It is necessary to enshrine the absolute trust in the headquarters of revolution and fully display the spirit of devotedly defending the leader.
    The working class should turn out with the firm faith in sure victory and strong will, rare gut and pluck to make a leap forward in the production and construction as they did in the period of the great Chollima surge.
    They should come out as one with strong self-respect and ambition to demonstrate the mettle of the Korean working class again in the on-going general march for the Songun revolution.
    It is imperative for the workers in the key fields of the national economy to stick to the line of the economic construction in the era of Songun and take the lead in the general march.
    All workers should actively learn from the spirit of devotedly defending the leader and carrying out his instructions in a do-or-die spirit and the self-sacrificing spirit fully displayed among the servicepersons of the Korean People's Army.
    Our workers and other people will as ever strengthen solidarity with the progressive people including the workers of the world who aspire after independence and progress, justice and peace and resolutely fight against the U.S. imperialists.

Japan's Invariable Ambition for Reinvasion under Fire

     Pyongyang, April 30 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Saturday in a signed commentary brands the Japanese reactionaries' distortion of Japan's history as moves for ideological and moral agitation aimed at militarizing and fascistizing the Japanese society and a revelation of their ambition for reinvasion. Denouncing Abe, acting secretary general of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, for taking the lead in the persistent moves of the Japanese right-wing conservatives to tamper with its history and grab Tok Islet, the commentary notes: As if it were not enough with having let loose a spate of reckless remarks beautifying and praising the crimes of the Japanese imperialists, Abe groundlessly charged that Asians' daily-mounting protest and denunciation of Japan over the issue of the history textbooks is an "interference in its internal affairs."
    The Japanese reactionaries have stubbornly negated, distorted and praised the crimes committed by Japan against Korea and other Asian countries in the past as they are nostalgic for the bygone days of militarism and seized by the ambition to reinvade Asia. Through the above-said agitation the Japanese right-wing conservatives seek to arm the rising generation of Japan with the aggressive idea and drive them to militarism, fascistization and reinvasion.
    It is written in the new history textbooks that Tok Islet belongs to the "Japanese territory." This is a shameless distortion of history and little short of grabbing it. The Japanese reactionaries are now claiming that they have "no idea of making any more concession" as regards the issue of the islet but should "defend it to the end."
    Through their moves to seize the islet the Japanese right-wing conservatives seek to spark a territorial dispute and complicate the regional situation in a bid to invent a pretext for reinvasion. In the past the Japanese imperialists ran amuck for war of aggression only to suffer a defeat. If the Japanese reactionaries opt for repeating the crime-woven past, instead of drawing a lesson from its past defeat, they will certainly go to ruin again.

KCNA on U.S. Dangerous Military Moves

     Pyongyang, April 30 (KCNA) -- The U.S. has gone into extremes in its wild ambition to establish its political and military domination over the Asia-Pacific region. The U.S. is contemplating replacing the present system whereby the U.S. troops are stationed in limited regions and countries on a permanent basis by a new system whereby they are reorganized into "task forces" having fast maneuverability and armed with high-tech hardware to be deployed in different parts of the world.
    The U.S. is stepping up in real earnest the work to redeploy the U.S. forces favorable for carrying out wars of aggression under the pretext of "redeployment of U.S. troops worldwide" to suit "a new security environment".
    This is clearly evidenced by the fact that the U.S. is working hard to turn the U.S. troops present in south Korea into a "vast regional force" and, at the same time, keep huge armed forces capable of playing the function of a joint command of the three services in Japan through the transfer of the 1st corps of the U.S. Army.
    Through the large-scale war drills staged across south Korea in March, the U.S. examined the capability of the U.S. troops present in south Korea to extend the sphere of their operation to the vicinity of the Korean Peninsula any moment after making them play the role of a "vast regional force."
    In this course the U.S. intends to achieve the purpose of enabling its forces in south Korea to have the capacity to mount a more prompt and effective preemptive attack upon the DPRK and, at the same time, turn the Korean Peninsula into an advance base for its war of aggression against the Northeast Asian countries.
    The U.S. planned establishment of a maritime anti-missile system in the East Sea of Korea is part of its moves to round off its preparations for mounting a preemptive attack upon the DPRK and laying a military siege to China and Russia in a bid to realize its hegemonic ambition to dominate the Asia-Pacific region.
    The Asia-Pacific region still remains the focus of the U.S. world strategy.
    The main thrust of the U.S. Asia strategy is to deter by force other big powers from expanding the sphere of their influence in this region and thus establish the American-style order of domination there.
    As generally known, the U.S. Northeast Asian security strategy is aimed at maintaining the Cold War structure for containing the DPRK, China and other countries on the basis of its security alliance with Japan and south Korea.
    Japan proper and Okinawa are used by the U.S. as advance attack bases of its forces in Northeast Asia as they are near from the Korean Peninsula and hosts many U.S. military bases.
    Precisely for this reason one may say there exist in Japan "U.S. conning towers" for commanding the three services of its forces present in different parts of the Asia-Pacific region.
    The U.S. seeks to use Japan as the most important stronghold from which to carry out its Asian strategy, the strategy of containing the DPRK and big powers in a bid to establish domination over the region.
    It is by no means fortuitous that experts observed the U.S. is keen to use Japan as a key position of brains and information in the Asia-Pacific region through the realignment and reorganization of the U.S. troops".
    Such U.S. military moves are fraught with potential danger.
    The U.S. troops in south Korea and Japan have been reorganized in such a way as to carry out the strategy of long-range operation. This made it impossible for south Korea and Japan to escape regional disputes and international armed clashes.
    The reorganization of the U.S. forces present in the Asia-Pacific region is nothing but, from every point of view, a redeployment aimed at a new war of aggression, a prelude to the war.
    The U.S. is chiefly to blame for escalating tensions in the Korean Peninsula and the rest of Northeast Asia.

U.S. Attempt to Revive "UN Forces" Assailed

     Pyongyang, April 30 (KCNA) -- The United States seeks to drive the six-party talks into a rupture while bringing up the nuclear issue at the United Nations in a bid to induce sanctions against the DPRK without difficulty. And it is going to let the multi-national forces under the helmet of the "UN Forces" intervene in the issue automatically and start a total war against the DPRK. This is the real intention of the U.S. to revive the "UN Forces," says Rodong Sinmun Saturday in a signed article. The article further says:
    Some time ago, Laporte, commander of the U.S. forces in south Korea, told at a U.S. congressional hearing that the role of the nations which participated in the Korean War should be increased to form a multinational staff camp capable of uniting the strength of the allies of the "UN Forces Command." In support of his statement, other high-ranking officers concerned of the U.S. forces present in south Korea said that the increase of the role of the "UN Forces Command" would provide groundwork able to let the international community join in the issue of the Korean Peninsula more naturally through the "Command" in case of emergency.
    This betrays the criminal design of the Bush warlike forces to repeat the method of aggression in the 1950s when the U.S. unleashed the Korean War and introduced multi-national forces into it by abusing the name of the UN.
    The "UN Forces Command" in south Korea is nothing but an illegal body of aggression forcibly set up by the U.S. to realize its ambition for invasion of the DPRK during the last Korean War.
    The monstrous crimes committed by the U.S. in violation of the international law and under the name of the UN during the war cannot be justified with anything. For them, the U.S. was bitterly cursed and rejected by the world peace-loving people.
    Thirty years have passed since the dissolution of the "UN Forces Command" was declared at the 30th UN General Assembly. However, the U.S. has kept its aggression forces in south Korea while maintaining the nominal "UN Forces Command" so far in a purpose to realize its ambition for invasion of Korea at any cost. That is to say, the U.S. has intended to revive the "UN Forces" when the time comes and mobilize multi-national forces to attain its aims at invading the DPRK it failed to do last century. This intention is now being carried into practice. The U.S. attempt to militarily stifle the DPRK and realize its domination over the whole of Korea has reached a very serious and dangerous stage.
    It is by no means accidental that the U.S. has replenished and perfected the war scenario against the DPRK while unprecedentedly stepping up the reinforcement for the U.S. forces in south Korea.
    The reality shows that it is the most urgent and vital task to completely dismantle the "UN Forces Command" in south Korea and get the U.S. imperialist aggression forces withdrawn from there.

North and South Korean Peasants Meet

     Mt. Kumgang, April 29 (KCNA) -- A 2005 solidarity meeting of representatives of north and south Korean peasants for implementing the June 15 joint declaration was held at Mt. Kumgang resort on Friday. The meeting was attended by members of the delegation of the Agricultural Workers' Section Committee of the north side's preparatory committee for joint functions of Koreans in the north, south and overseas to implement the joint declaration headed by Chairman Kang Chang Uk, and members of the delegation of the peasants' headquarters of the south side's preparatory committee for joint functions headed by Co-representative Jong Jae Don.
    At the meeting the heads of both delegations said that the greatest wish of the Korean nation is the reunification of the country. National independence is a lifeline and a shortcut to national reunification and it is an internal affair of the nation to be solved by the nation itself, they pointed out, and went on:
    The peasants in the north and the south should turn out in the nationwide patriotic struggle to remove the source of war from this land this year under the banner of peace against war.
    The north and south Korean peasants' organizations should consolidate the successes achieved in the past reunification movement and make efforts to realize solidarity and unity at a higher level so as to glorify this significant year.
    Referring to the achievements jointly made by peasants in the north and the south in the reunification movement in the past five years, they called for making this year the year of independent reunification.
    They called upon the peasants in the north and the south to fulfill their responsibility and role in opposing war and defending peace for the independence and peace of the nation.
    Then representatives of the north and the south made speeches, and a joint resolution was adopted.
    The resolution clarifies the issues for the peasants in the north and the south to invariably maintain the June 15 joint declaration that indicates a shortcut to national reunification, turn out in the reunification movement for its implementation, solidarize each other to keep national sovereignty and the food sovereign right of the south side and make joint efforts for a unified development of agriculture.

Congratulations to Togolese President

     Pyongyang, April 30 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Friday sent a congratulatory message to Faure Gnassingbe on his election as president of Togo. Expressing belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would continue to develop on good terms, Kim sincerely wished Gnassingbe big success in his noble work for peace and prosperity of the country.

U.S. Aerial Espionage against DPRK in April

     Pyongyang, April 30 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists perpetrated more than 170 cases of aerial espionage against the DPRK in April by mobilizing strategic and tactical reconnaissance planes with different missions, according to military sources. At least 30 cases of aerial espionage were committed by U-2, overseas-based RC-135, E-3 and EP-3.
    Such tactical reconnaissance planes as RC-12, RC-7B involved numbered eight on April 8 and 11 each and seven on April 4, 7, 22 and 28 each. Such type reconnaissance planes made shuttle flights day and night in the sky above the areas of Phochon, Chunchon and Rinje to spy on the important military targets of the north in the forefront areas.
    This indicates that after working out the "OPLAN 5029-05" under the pretext of coping with a "contingency" the U.S. imperialists are keen to realize their wild ambition to invade the DPRK by a surprise attack on it.

DPRK Delegations Leave

     Pyongyang, April 30 (KCNA) -- A delegation of the DPRK Information Committee led by its Vice-Chairman Ri Ju Gwan to visit Cambodia and Laos and a delegation of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League led by Secretary of its Central Committee Jang Yong Chol to visit Laos left here Saturday.

FM Spokesman Slams Bush's Vituperation against DPRK's Supreme Headquarters

     Pyongyang, April 30 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry gave the following answer to a question raised by KCNA Saturday to accuse Bush of letting loose a spate of vituperation against the supreme headquarters of the DPRK: At a press conference Friday Bush again slandered the supreme headquarters of the DPRK.
    It is our firm stand neither to pardon nor overlook anyone who slanders the supreme headquarters of the DPRK.
    Bush is a hooligan bereft of any personality as a human being, to say nothing of stature as president of a country. He is a half-baked man in terms of morality and a philistine whom we can never deal with.
    It is well known from long ago.
    No one can expect to hear reasonable words from Bush, once a cowboy at a ranch in Texas. His remarks often stun audience as they reveal his utter ignorance.
    What the Bush rogue group has done since his coming to power in the U.S. styling itself a "super power" is nothing but having turned various parts of the world into a sea of blood.
    Bush is, indeed, a world dictator whose hands are stained with the blood shed by innocent civilians.
    Peace can never settle in the world as long as Bush stays in power. The DPRK does not expect any solution to the nuclear issue or any progress in the DPRK-U.S. relations during his term.
    Bush never forgot to mention the third party whenever he referred to the nuclear issue although the DPRK and the U.S. are the parties directly concerned with it.
    This is no more than a trick to shift the blame on to the third party.
    Over more than four years since Bush's inauguration the DPRK has shown utmost magnanimity and patience. It can no longer do so, waiting for any shift in the U.S. policy.
    Quite just is the path chosen by us and we will keep to it, with our chests thrown out.

Comunicado conjunto de comite preparatorio para actos conjuntos

     Pyongyang, 30 de abril (ATCC) -- Se dio a la publicidad el dia 28 en el monte Kumgang el comunicado conjunto del Comite preparatorio de los actos conjuntos del Norte, Sur y ultramar para la ejecucion de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio. Segun el documento, tuvo lugar del 26 al 28 de abril del ano en curso en el monte Kumgang el contacto de trabajo de este comite con la participacion de delegados de diferentes sectores del Norte y el Sur y un representante de ultramar.
    En esta ocasion, los delegados discutieron dedicadamente los medios concretos para activar aun mas el movimiento por la reunificacion de la patria en el ano en curso y, por inmediato, garantizar la marcha exitosa de los actos conjuntos en pro de la reunificacion a celebrarse en Pyongyang con motivo del 5 aniversario de la publicacion de dicha Declaracion Conjunta y llegaron al acuerdo en los siguientes puntos:
    1. El comite preparatorio (para actos conjuntos) decidio organizar solemnemente en Pyongyang un acto conjunto nacional por la reunificacion con motivo de la publicacion de la historica Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio.
    Este acto se denominara como "Gran festival nacional por la reunificacion en conmemoracion del 5 aniversario de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio" (simplemente, ) y tendra lugar del 14 al 17 de junio.
    Por el Norte y el Sur participaran 615 delegados, respectivamente y por la parte de ultramar, llegaran 200 o 300 representantes.
    Durante el festival se celebraran de modo especifico varios actos, entre otros, la mega- marcha nacional por la independencia, la paz y la reunificacion, la conferencia nacional por la reunificacion en conmemoracion del 5 aniversario de la Declaracion Conjunta, la galeria conjunta de fotos del Norte, el Sur y ultramar, los encuentros por sectores, la funcion artistica por el 5 aniversario de la publicacion de la Declaracion Conjunta y los juegos deportivos y recreos.
    Los delegados surenos arribaran a Pyongyang por la ruta maritima directa en el Mar Oeste mientras los de ultramar lo haran por vias que les convengan.
    2. El comite preparatorio fijara la insignia conmemorativa para el gran festival y llama a los compatriotas dentro y fuera del pais que hagan donaciones de una manera u otra para la marcha exitosa del acto. Y quedo en otorgarles el certificado de donantes a las entidades y personalidades que hagan contribucion especial.
    3. El comite decidio continuar el debate sobre el problema de organizar este ano variados actos por la reunificacion de las entidades de diferentes sectores, inclusive la mega-marcha nacional por la reunificacion entre el monte Paektu y el Hanna, conforme al gran fervor de todos los coreanos dentro y fuera del pais por la reunificacion.

Conferencia de solidaridad de delegados campesinos

     Monte Kumgang, 29 de abril (ATCC) -- Tuvo lugar el dia 29 en este lugar la conferencia de solidaridad de los delegados campesinos del Norte y el Sur del 2005 para la ejecucion de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio. Asistieron al acto los miembros de la delegacion del subcomite de trabajadores agricolas del Comite Preparatorio de la parte Norte para los Actos Conjuntos del Norte, el Sur y ultramar para la ejecucion de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio, encabezada por su presidente Kang Chang Uk, y los miembros de la delegacion de la direccion campesina del Comite Preparatorio de la parte Sur para dichos actos conjuntos, presididos por el co-delegado Jong Jae Don.
    Los jefes de ambas delegaciones senalaron que la reunificacion de la patria es el mayor deseo de la nacion coreana y anadieron que la independencia nacional es la linea de subsistencia y atajo para la reunificacion de la patria y es asunto interno que se debe solucionar por cuenta propia de la nacion.
    Los campesinos del Norte y el Sur, con la bandera de la paz antibelica en alto, deben levantarse en la gigantesca lucha patriotica por eliminar este ano la fuente raigal de la guerra en esta tierra, apuntaron.

    El documento se refiere a los problemas que se presentan ante los campesinos del Norte y el Sur para defender invariablemente la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio que indica el atajo para la reunificacion de la patria, activar el movimiento por llevarla a efecto, defender la soberania nacional y solidarizarse para proteger la soberania alimentaria de la parte Sur y hacer esfuerzos en conjunto por el desarrollo unificado de la agricultura.
